Requirements vs Blackberry

Is it true I need to have a computer with new OS in order to get an iPhone? With a Blackberry I don't need to even have a computer at all, it just gets my email from my ISP webmail and never has to synch. What if I didn't care about using the iTunes program on the phone, would I be able to use it for email and web surfing without connecting it to a computer? Or is the "new OS on a computer" requirement an absolute?

You don't need a compatible computer and iTunes to create and access an email account with the iPhone's Mail application, but iTunes serves as the sync conduit to sync contacts and calendar events with a supported application on your computer and for transferring photos on your computer to your iPhone. Photos captured by your iPhone which are stored in the iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. The iPhone is a phone, an iPod, and an internet device. As with any other iPod, iTunes is required to transfer music and videos in your iTunes library to your iPhone. ITunes also creates and maintains a backup for your iPhone which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
In order to install an iPhone firmware update when released, the firmware update is downloaded and installed by iTunes. iTunes is also required to restore an iPhone if wanted or needed.
If you don't have a compatible computer or you aren't interested in using iTunes, you should stick with a Blackberry or consider a different device besides the iPhone. The iPhone is not designed or intended for everyone.

Can anyone out there please help me.  I have two invitations to join Blackberry Messenger that tells me where to go and download the software.  When I try to download the 4.0 and 4.1 latest software, I get the error message that my phone is not able to do so.
I also tried to download via the Internet and Iget the same error message, can anyone help as I am in love with my smartphone and my wife is jealous that I give the phone more attention than she ever got.
Also can I type mails or send SMS through the Roxio desktop Interface?  I do that easily with my Nokia PC Suite but it seems impossible with my BlackBerry.
    Please help.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
There is no text option in Roxio media manager, it's sole function is to manage your media between PC and BB.
Do you have a data services Package with your carrier, as well as a text package?
    Please let me know!
There is no group I know of for a Blackberry widows club....but somebody ought to start one, my wife would be the first to join

  • BlackBerry App World requires that your device radio is turned on to continue.

I no longer have a service provider for my Blackberry.  But I want to use it for listenting to Audio Books.  Can I still do this without internet service on the phone itself?
Initially it appeared as though I could, so long as I had it connected to my computer which was connected to the internet.  Initially, System Check told me that the AppWorld Browser plug-in was installed on the computer, and also that the device was connected to the computer.  It then locked up when trying to load the latest version of AppWorld on the Smartphone.  I've rebooted both since and now it tells me that I need the radio on to perform this task.  ANy ideas?

  • Blackberry Pearl- Why it's the worst phone ever made

Here's why I think the Blackberry Pearl is the worst phone ever made.
    1. I can't get photo's off of it. My G1 takes a few seconds. I've worked with this Pear for hours upon hours cannot get my photo's off of it. The Desktop manager really bites too no help there. I really dislike this phone. The software just as bad. I guess they were on the move when Desktop manager was getting written.
    2. The phone on occasions would lock on letters instead of numbers. There wasn't an intuitive way to get it unlocked. I found it more intuitive to get a my return from the IRS than it was to get the phone back to dialing numbers.
I'm having my kids dress up as a Blackberry Pearl for Halloween. I'm going to make a Halloween Movie Freddy Kruger attacks people with Blackberry Pearl the topper scene features unsuspecting Pearl user getting tied up and has them attempt to copy their photos off to a PC and the video gets put on Youtube for Christmas.
    Very unsatisfied with your product.
    Don Quixote

I want to join the fun here and list all the different reasons why I'm very unsatisfied with this phone.
The actual phone part of this phone is pretty slow.  It accepts a phone number almost 3 times slower than I can type it in.  Even typing a name on their handy search bar takes forever to get a result.  If I type to fast, it just ignores a couple of my numbers so I have to delete and retype, at the same super slow pace.  I'm guessing that it searches all sorts of contact and history lists to give me cool suggestions, and that's what makes it so slow.  Either way, it irritates me to no end that the basic reason I have this thing is slow as dirt.
All 3rd Party and Blackberry apps require the Blackberry data service.  Even though there's WIFI on this phone, you simply can't connect to anything except the Browser (and even the Browser requires some setting changes to bypass the upsell screen).  This phone CAN do 3rd party services and other applications without the Blackberry data service, but they just don't allow you to.
Sometimes my phone just turns off.  I don't normally mind the 3 minute boot up process, but when I'm in the middle of something and my phone turns off for no reason, it just compounds my frustration.
The keyboard freezes up all the time.  After a good 1-5 minute "please wait clock", I finally get a message saying there was an error and my input application had to be reset.  Sometimes it doesn't quite reset all the way and I have to pull the battery and again wait for the long boot up process.
Its a little unreliable.  Besides the phone turning off at random and the keyboard freezing, I still have problems other problems.  My bluetooth turns off and sometimes doesn't come back.  Once I had to get a new phone sent to me in order to correct that problem.  Pressing buttons doesn't always get a response, especially the green "call" button.  If the phone is bogged down, it just ignored commands, which is pretty frustrating especially if you press a button and accidently double enter a command that is both the "on" and "off" options.  Also, sometimes the screen fades out (like its suppose to) but doesn't come back when you press keys.  Or the external notifications just don't turn on.  It somestimes just doesn't read my memory card.  The zoom feature on my camera also got stuck.
Other small gripes involve having no caps lock, the SureType never learning from my typing ("Hey" always goes out as "Get"), its overall slowness, the looseness of the back casing, the low quality camera, and so much more.
I don't suggest this phone to anyone.

  • Blackberry user ID

  • Approval process in blackberry

    Hi
I have a requirement in Blackberry Approval process.
A Corporation currently has SAP Workflow and they are currently using it to send PR items via Outlook to the approver of these PRs. The approver then gets an email which contains a link to the Portal where he/she approves or rejects the PR.
Now, along with the email to the approver, the approver should also get the PRs on his/her Blackberry and should be able to approve or reject the PRs from the Blackberry Device itself.
The UIs for blackberry haveto be developed using webdynpro for Java.
I need to know how do I link the blackberry webdynpro application to workflow?
How fo I get the WorkItems to the blackberry device?
I would be grateful if anybody could guide me in this.
    Thanks and regards.

  • Issue with brand new blackberry

    hello guys
iv just bought a new blackberry from my local phone shop and stupidly said to the guy i would be able to set it up as im a techy guy (usually fixing every one else's problems) and being a iphone user, mac, windows and android i assumed the blackberry would be as easy..... but i was wrong it seems
so a little back ground,    im on the 3 network, with "all you can eat" data as my tinternet (which coveres my blackberry, bbm ect)
i cant set up my blackberry pin or ID or anything on the device (therefore the blackberry world dosent work nore anything else)  it keeps telling me the phones not connected to the network (when it clearly is if i can view the bbc or any other random website i choose) i can install apps through the browser though
this is on wifi,  on the phone network it dosent even go that far
the error when trying to sign into blackberry ID - unable to connnect with blackberry id. please sign in now (stupid question as i cant???)or try again later. data services are required for blackberry id and can be turned on in the mobile network settings
    any ideas at all?
    thanks guys

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Start by getting your voice services (calls, voice mail, SMS) working...without those, nothing else will matter. Make 100% sure that those are working via the carrier network (turn off WiFi to be sure) before you proceed -- bypass any prompts or anything else it requests concerning data (e.g., skip over the BB ID login). If they are not working, then ring up the provider for assistance.
After voice services are working, then with a strong carrier network signal (again, not WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Balance, BYOD and BES

Hi folks. I'm hoping someone can help me understand something. I currently have a personal BIS BB, and was quoted around £30/month to provision it for BES so I could use it for work as well.
With the advent of blackberry balance and BES10, if I wish to use a personal BlackBerry or PlayBook does that still apply?  The features of Balance look great, but if it still requires the user to have a BES plan on a personal BB, wouldn't that kill BB in the BYOD arena?
    Thanks, Nik

    Hey nikgilbe,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
This would depend on what you are using BlackBerry® Balance with, BlackBerry® Enterprise Server or  BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Express.
If you are using BlackBerry® Balance with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server then you would require a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server service plan and if being used with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Express then a BlackBerry® Internet Service data plan would be required for the BlackBerry® smartphone.
You can find more information on BlackBerry® Balance here: http://ca.blackberry.com/business/software/blackberry-balance.html#tab-1
    I hope this helps.

    Hi Julien,
The task type of the work item is 'W' and task_id is TS*.
As I told previously, the scenario here is of Releasing/Rejecting a PR.
The  present scenario here is, the approver gets the workitem in his MS outlook inbox, with a Link for approval.
When he/she clicks on the link, it navigates to the tcode me54n of the sap system, where the approver has to take a decision of releasing or rejecting the PR.
So, I dont think the BAPI SAP_WAPI_DECISION_COMPLETE will be of help to me because the decision here is taken in the transaction me54n and not on the workitem itself.
But now, when i configure this scenario on a blackberry, the approver should be able to take the decision of Releasing/ Rejecting the PR on his blackberry itself(without going to the transaction me54n).
Can you please help me on this?
    Thanks

I found from this forum that I should use "SAPI_WAPI*" BAPIs for my requirement.
I explored all the "SAPI_WAPI* " BAPIs and narrowed down on SAP_WAPI_CREATE_WORKLIST to get all the work items for a particular user.
    Is this the right BAPI??
Now for approval or rejection of this work item, I found the BAPI - SAPI_WAPI_DECISION_COMPLETE.
But when i give the workitem id for PR release to the above BAPI, it says " the workitem <Workitem no> is not a user decision".
I would be greatful if u could help me in this??
Which is the right BAPI for Approval/Rejection of PR release work item??

  • For BlackBerry developers and Apps developers !!!

    Hi,
This message is to the BlackBerry people, I mean the developers, the people related with the development of BlackBerry Z10.
There is no doubt that you guys have done a fab work developing Z10. It is the best operating system in the market as of now. I have been a blackBerry loyal customer since 2010. I used Torch 9800 and currently Bold 9900 and planning for Z10 for obvious reasons.
But, many people including me are disappointed with the apps in the Z10. Come on guys, this product has been in development since an year now. Everyone including you guys know that to survive in the current market you need to focus and invest more on the apps.
Have you seen any major difference between in the OS of google, from Ice cream sandwich to Jellybean or the OS in apple iphones, from 4S to 5 ??? The answer is "NO", but they have worked on is apps and just apps.
I love BlackBerry devices and at the same time I want it to prosper like the other devices in the market. Z10 has an outstanding OS platform, kindly utilize this in developing more apps and attracting more customers. This will hold benefits to both, customers and BlackBerry company.
I just wanted to share my feelings regarding it and hence I did. Hope BlackBerry will look into it and hire more app developers around the world and won't let their customers down.
I know there will be a 1000s of mails and such messages going out to you guys on daily basis, but I am writing this because it makes a difference and adds to the count.
    Have a good day.
    Thanks
    Anshul
