Requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser

SharePoint 2010 version 14.0.7102.5000.
Clients are Windows 7 SP1, Browser is IE 10.0.9200.17296
Problem is the well known famous message 'requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser' when the user chooses the button New Document.
Why this behaviour for this user is different then all the threads and blogs I read about this message is because of the  following: I am logged on using my Windows account on my computer (VDI so I have the same computer as the user experiencing the
message) and don't have this problem. When the concerning user uses my logged on computer under my account and only logs in with his credentials within SharePoint (sign in as Different User) then the problem occures. I performed the same actions on the same
library as the concerning user.
So ruled out are:
- Browser version
- Office version
- windows User Profile
- x86 vs x64
- MS Foundation Support installation
- add on SharePoint OpenDocuments Class
Please help me out.

Do you have different versions of Office or SharePoint Designer or any Office product installed?
You can try repairing office installation in that particular user machine and see what happens.
Thanks.
Sorry to say but software versions can be ruled out as I mentioned the user have the same problem when using
my logged on account in Windows on my computer. Only in the browser the user is logging in with his credentials. I don't have this problem when using this Document Library.

  • New Document' requires a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible application and web browser

    Hi Guys,
I am getting the above message when I try to create a new Excel document from a content type.
The background is that I am configuring Content Types for a document library in SharePoint 2013.
The first content type I added was a business case based on a Word doc that is stored in a different doc library on the same site. This content type works fine. I then added a second content type that references an Excel doc in the same doc library as the word
    doc.
Interestingly when you click new document from the Files Ribbon the Business Case content type displays with the word icon next to it. The content type that references the Excel document does not display the Excel icon though. Almost like SharePoint itself
does not recognise the Excel format.
Prior to posting this question I confirmed that I have Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support enabled as part of my office 2013 instance. I have also confirmed that SharePoint OpenDocuments Class control is enabled within my IE settings.

IE version and Office that is installed in your computer should have to the same version (32-bit).

  • Can't create a New Report Builder Report or Model. Error 'New Document' requires a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible application

The closest fix I have found was to install SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU8, our SQL Server in for SharePoint is also on that version. I have also double checked that this is the same version on every server in the farm.
Is there a XML config file somewhere that can be updated manually? If so, would SP see the change and update the other servers in the farm?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
As per my understanding, we can refer to the following tips:
Running the 32 bit version of Internet Explorer browser to check the issue again.
Performed steps outlined in this KB Article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833714.
    Enable Add-ons in Internet Explorer:
    1. Go to Tools in IE
    2. Click on Internet Options
    3. Click on Programs at the top
    4. Click on “Manage add-ons” near the bottom
    5. Click on Publisher, so you can see all of Microsoft Corporation together
    6. Scroll to SharePoint names (May be one or several)
    7. Make sure they are all enabled by clicking on the name; the Enable button is towards the bottom.
    8. Then click OK and OK and restart IE
    Try to
re-install the correct version of Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint on all SharePoint web front ends.
    Hope this helps.

    Please try below mentioned steps:
    1. Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service Timer Job" > Disable
    2. Then open windows administrative services (services.msc), stop SharePoint Timer Service
    3. Clear SharePoint Timer configuration cache by following steps mentioned in below blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jamesway/archive/2011/05/23/sharepoint-2010-clearing-the-configuration-cache.aspx
    4. Start SharePoint Timer Service and give it a few seconds so that the new XML files from the location you deleted then are re-populated.
5.Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service" Timer Job > Enable

  • Closing an application and web browser at same time at runtime

Does anyone have any ideas of code that addresses that problem of closes the web browser at runtime when the application closes?
I've been converted about 140+ forms and 300+ reports to 10g from 6i client/server and I've got all the forms converted but now that I've got it up on a website at runtime, I'm documenting all these application issues that I just haven't had time to research.
It sounded like I do write some Java Beans, based on some threads I've read. But I didn't fully understand.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Chris

Ok, I was able to do it when I hard-coded to the http://servername:port in the web.show_document. My question is: I have a windows and Linux (Development and Test server). All 3 are different servers. How can I make it to where I don't have to hard-code the server name. I've put the html page in the ORACLE_HOME/forms/java folder. The application and web browser closes just fine when I hard-code the server name in the web.show_document command. Is there a way I can get around this where I don't have to hard-code the name, but still access it from the same path on all 3 servers?
    web.show_document(http://servername:port/forms/java/closewebbrowser.htm, -self)

  • SSO between custom C++ application and web browser

    Hello.
I have a bit of problems figuring out how to do SSO functionality between a Browser and a custom client (custom protocol over HTTP).
I want it to work as follows: If the user logs in in the HTTP client, the user is already logged in in the custom client, and vice versa.
I thought this could be implemented my reading and writing cookie values from the browser in my custom client, but it seems like the cookies set are all without expiration. IE handles these cookies private in a process, and so I can't get a hold of it.
How do I implement SSO between clients if I can't base it on cookie values?
    Regards
    Kyrre.

    Any comment?

  • Scale out sharepoint server search to index server and Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to new server

    Hi
in my single server these below service are running:
    SharePoint Server Search
    User Profile Service
    Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
here how i scale out  Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application  to another server
and  SharePoint Server Search  to new index server.
    adil

Check here to see how to add servers to the farm:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261752(v=office.15).aspx
What Inderjeet meant was that if you chose to install SharePoint as a single server instead of a complete farm, you won't be able to add servers to the farm at a later time. You can check if this is the case by checking the registry key he mentioned. If
that is indeed the case, there's nothing to it but reinstall the farm.
So that is why you never should choose the single server option, it locks you in and limits future options, while choosing to install sharepoint as a complete farm it's still perfectly acceptable to host it on a single server.
    Kind regards,

    Hi Jose,
When server 2012 will not allow pre-requisite to run, due to the ASP.NET 3.5 or 4.5, do this:
    Run, from admin command prompt:
    Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:<drive>:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

  • Can not restart Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application after stopping

    All, thanks for any help.
I have a SP2010 instance running and am in the process of adding custom web parts, activities, and timer jobs.  As part of troubleshooting an odd problem where my code did not seem to be getting updated on deployments, I decided to try restarting the
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application in Central Administration/Services on Server.  It stopped well enough, but on restart it now fails with the error "Expression must evaluate to a node-set.
".  I thought it might have something to do with the updated web.config, so I took it back to the original one, but the problem still persists.  I have tried multiple PC restarts and iisresets, along with trying to start the service via the use of
stsadm.  My SP2010 instance is deployed on a Windows Vista box for testing.  I have successfully deployed this very same custom timer job to that very box in the past; it just won't deploy now and the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
constantly shows "error starting" on the Services on Server page.
As a result I can no longer deploy timer jobs - they deploy but never show up Central Administration after deployment, and never execute.  Can anyone tell me how to get Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to restart?
    ~Thanks!
    Mitch

Old post, but in case others come across this. From:

    Stop it by running:
    $svc = Get-SPServiceInstance | where {$_.TypeName -like "*Foundation Web*"}
    $svc.Status = "Offline"
    $svc.Update()
    And then start:
    $svc = Get-SPServiceInstance | where {$_.TypeName -like "*Foundation Web*"}
    $svc.Status = "Online"
    $svc.Update()
Optionally, you may need to run (I didn't):
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication http://webAppUrl
    $wa.ProvisionGlobally()

  • A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation 2010 is not installed error

I have 2013 Office installed and using 2010 SharePoint Foundation.
The button 'Datasheet View' is available on the site but when clicked on I get this error:
The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
    - A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
    - Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
    - A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.
I have installed and repaired the Office Suite already, ActiveX is enabled in the browser etc.
I have also enabled the Microsoft Add-ons.
Installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
How can I solve this issue?

    Hi,
    1. The Edit
in Datasheet view functionality in SharePoint Server 2010 is not supported if you install
64-bit Office 2013 client. The Edit in Datasheet functionality
is available if you install 32-bit Office 2013 client
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681792.aspx
    2. Edit in data sheet view is not supported in 64 bit version of the i.e.
If I understand correctly you are trying to access site from the Windows server 2008 R2, the default OS installation will have two browsers. Open internet explorer that doesn't have (64 bit) in the bracket. The one with 64bit is not supported

  • "An error occurred accessing your Microsoft SharePoint Foundation site files" connecting site with SharePoint Designer

I have a SharePoint 2013 environment with 1 AD Server, 1 DB Server and 1 APP Server, with 13 Web Applications running under the SharePoint.
Recently I rebuilted the application because of some infrasctrucutre problems, and I was able to solve all of them, except one. I can't connect to any of those 13 Web Apps with SharePoint Designer. When I try to connect, it always ask credentials, then it
seems like loading the site, then the error appears:
"An error occurred accessing your Microsoft SharePoint Foundation site files. Authors - if you are authoring against
a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for this server's Web site. WebMasters - please see the server's application event log for more details."
I've spent hours troubleshooting it, but none of the information I found was valid. I've already tried to clean the cache, but didn't work. I found plenty of related data of this
error with FrontPage and old versions of SharePoint, but nothing helped. All the Web Apps are SPD-Enabled at Site Collection Administration. I've tried connecting from many different PC's. The 15/LOGS folder doesn't get any data from this error, neither the
    Event Viewer.
I really don't know what else to do. Please Help!

I found the answer of my issue was in a .NET Agent installed by NewRelic on the server. I found a connection trouble with Fiddler, then I end up figuring this out:
This can be the result of Real User Monitoring so the first step in troubleshooting would be to disable it and see how it affects the application. The .Net Agent injects snippets of javascript into the header of pages sent to the users browser to measure the
page load time on the user's end.
You can disable RUM by editing newrelic.config and changing this line:
    <browserMonitoring autoInstrument="true"/>
    to this:
    <browserMonitoring autoInstrument="false"/>

  • SCSM 2012 R2 Self Service Portal is supported on Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation 2013 Sp1 or not

    Hello,
I have a requirement to install Self Service Portal on one dedicated Server and found that Both the Web Content Server and SharePoint Web Parts can be installed on single Server. I want to use Microsoft Sharepoint 2010 Foundation Server as
it is free but it is not supported on Windows Server 2012 R2.
    My query are -
Can we use Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 Sp1 for the same purpose.
Can we install Both the Web Content Server and SharePoint Web Parts on One Computer for Self Service portal
I was referring the below link which says that Sharepoint 2013 is not supported, does it mean for Sharepoint foundation 2013 Sp1 is also not supported.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=24983
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ankur

for background, there are actually three parts here. there is a SharePoint team site, there is the content distribution website, and there is the data access website. the data access and the content website are almost always collocated on the same servers,
since they are both IIS virtual directories. the sharepoint team site is packaged for 2010, but it's been
successfully installed on 2013 without problems.
you have a couple of options:
you can put all three web componets on the same server by using foundation 2010
you can put all three on the same 2013 server using the method above
you can put the two iisvds on a server and install the team site using the method above
you can install the content and data access services on a separate server, and then install a scrap foundation SharePoint and export out the team site and import it into your existing SharePoint site

  • Error An unexpected error has occurred. Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: 65ef1cb8-1cbf-40ee-b79b-05db15ca6dbb

    Hi,
Since I installed a few updates, that I can't access the sharepoint the same way. I always get errors when trying to access the majority of the pages.
I already removed the update suggested on other threads (KB2844286), but everything remains the same.
I always receive errors like this one:
    Error
    An unexpected error has occurred.
Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.
    Correlation ID: 65ef1cb8-1cbf-40ee-b79b-05db15ca6dbb
what can I do? The Sharepoint 2010 is located on a virtual partition of our server, running Windows Server 2008 Standard edition SP1.
When I try to access administration tools it happens the same error, and I don't know what I can do more.
    Please help me.
    best regards,
