Rescue and Recovery 4.52 - Makes Full Image Backups?

So, this may seem like a simple question to some, but I can not find a conclusive answer yet.
I have Lenovo's Rescue and Recovery 4.52 - Windows 7 (64 bit) for my Lenovo T540.  Will Rescue and Recovery 4.52 create a full image backup such that if in the event my hard drive crashes, I can reinstall the entire operating system, programs, etc at one time, without having to reinstall individual software programs?
I just don't want to install Rescue and Recovery 4.52 because it is a large program, without it being able to do a full image backup.
Thanks

In my personal opinion, Rescue and Recovery is obselete.  For Win7 and later, my advice is to use Windows built-in backup and restore.  You can create both a complete system image (what you are asking about), and also backup individual files/folders in your libraries.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore
Rescue and Recovery was great for XP and earlier OS when there wasn't any built-in backup and restore functions.  But for Win7 and later, my advice is to use the OS built-in feature.  Hope this helps.

    1. What are the current and previous versions of R&R? When it was upgraded?
    2. Did you have the such issue with previous R&R version?
    3. Did you try to uninstall previous version and install the new one? Or reinstall the current version? How current vesrsion is upgraded from the previous one - manually or using System Update?
    4. Was your OS version upgraded from previous one? I mean as an example XP -> W7

  • Rescue and Recovery failed destination network location can no longer be reached

W510, running Windows 7 Pro SP1,  updated with ThinkVantage including BIOS 1.37 along with Rescue and Recovery 4.31 yesterday. Using Backup locations "Local hard drive" had not problem, but when it was set to "Network", it gave me "The backup failed because the destination network location can no longer be reached.". Prior to running RR, I manually mounted the shared drive on W510 and could read and write files. The user that mounted the shared drive was not "Administrator" but has Administrator privilege. The network shared drive was a folder on an Windows XP SP3 computer. The shared drive had Full Control granted to Everyone as well as for Sharing. I rebooted W510 before starting RR. After the "network location can no longer be reached" error popped up, a long while later, RR actually wrote some files in the shared drive and then finally it aborted. It created on the shared drive RRBackups\SZ\<UUID>\... (among other folders and files); under <UUID> there's a common\rr.log with:

    The events don't make sense:
    a) Why would RR says "network location can no longer be reached" - the wording suggests that it was OK, but now it isn't.
    b) The br_funcs returns Error 0x501 (NOT_IMPLEMENTED or NOT_SUPPORTED), but RR still attempted to call mapdrv.
    c) Apparently mapdrv was successful otherwise it shouldn't try to delete the t0.dat on the shared drive (which didn't exist - hence Error 3 (PATH_NOT_FOUND)) and unless it has reached the remote computer, it wouldn't know the file wasn't there.
I'm curious to find out if anyone has run into this problem and how to fix it.

It errored out after it has already created some folders and files as indicated in the first post.Tried the same steps several times just make sure it was repeatable by closing Rescue and Restore app and starting it again. The network between the share host and my W510 was a direct RJ45 cable connection, so zero hop.  In the end I used Windows 7 Backup and Restore to do full backup, using the same \\server\sharename, the network share was mapped without a problem. But then Windows 7 Restore CD wasn't able to map network share - giving me 0x800704cf. Googling shows lots questions raised on this but no fix.
    Update:
Last night, I gave it a shot again. For some reason, RR was able to mapped the network share using \\IPaddress\sharename (this time I used a different folder and a diferent sharename). OK great, but after 10 hrs it's at 88% completion, did my math, estimated elasped time is 12 hrs, Wow! The image backup with Windows 7 Backup took 5 hr 51 min with 132GB in the WindowsImageBackup folder. RR is 2x slower!
On the other hand, as it's still running, the est. backup folder size is 106GB. RR does a better job in compression - a 20% reduction in size compared with Windows' at the cost of 2x time.
Going back to the Windows 7 Restore CD 0x80704cf error when mapping the network share, found an Internet user posting that he succeede by providing a NIC driver.

  • LENOVO 3000N200 0769 VISTA screen on rescue and recovery 4

Need your help please Wasn't the last person to use my Laptop. noticed sometime ago when triying to log in that my screen has default to Rescue and recovery 4; what make impossible for me to access windows. please i've all i could but no success. i can do manything with PC via rescue and recovery but as you all know without windows access it's a handicape; thanks in advance or your contribution regards Tino

    Hi,
so from what I can understand, you have some issues with the OS and want to restore the system and you get the logon prompt when you try to access RnR PDA using the F11 key by system start.
If this is correct, then the reason, why you get this message is that you have entered an user name and password in the RnR GUI (security)
In case you don't know this password, then that is a bad sign. As this is now locked.
Please let me know, if I'm correct with the above assumption of your situation.
    Cheers

  • Rescue and Recovery not recognizing USB DVD writer on X200

I have a SAMSUNG SE-S084B USB CD/DVDRW that reads/burns DVD-R ok in ImgBurn. I already have backup made on the hard drive by RR.
I tried to use the Rescue and Recovery Advanced mode -> menu-Advanced -> "Copy backup from hard drives" to make a set up of backup on the DVD-Rs. However, RR doesn't recognize my USB DVD writer, and therefore I cannot proceed the backup.
Please advise how to make backups on a DVD for Thinkpad X200. Thanks a lot!

    I got it!
You just need to be patient.  It can take up to two hours.
I wasted about 30 minutes in the fine quality customer support of inner-city Atlanta just to be told it takes that long.  30 minutes.
I am extremely unimpressed with Atlanta customer service, and the rep's advice after 25 minutes was that he was going to send me a couple more recovery disks!  He had no idea about anything I was talking about.  I complained to the manager who finally told me to just wait.  However when I complained to him he thought it was a joke.
Customer service in Lenovo, especially their Atlanta location is a farce.  You're welcome for me having to sit through that.

  • Using Rescue and Recovery to make backups from 3 different machines

Hello, I have three Thinkpad laptops, T400, X61 and R61i. I want to back up them using one external HD. The HD is divided into three partitions, the smallest for X61, the medium for R61i and the largest - for T400. I backed up all my laptops into the proper partitions (base backups), but now, then I want  to make partial backups, they all are going to the largest partition (intended for T400). Is it possible (and how) to cause R&R to always use the same partition for each laptop while backing up it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Please read the following post:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Rescue-and-Recovery-backup-partition-second-ha...
    From this post:
    (1) Learn how to change security/options to peak inside the RRbackups folder
    (2) The conclusion
outside of an existing RNR folder, For a NEW create RRbackups folder, it will choose the partition with the MOST FREE space.
    ===
I will offer some commentary and match it to what you are seeing.
    (1) What release of RNR are on the 3 machines? same release? The newer RNR  (been like this for a while), uses the UUID to separate backups within the SAME backup folder.
    (2) for the C drive hdd, you CAN select another  partition on the C drive hdd to hold the rrbackups folder, from the Advanced menu parms. This option is NOT available for second HDD.
    (3) You will always have a RRbackups folder on the C drive.  If you uninstall RNR, the C drive RRbackups is deleted.  ***** Any RRbackups on external hdd will remain***
    (4) What you want to do will not work. RNR is expecting one RNR backups folder on the external hdd, thus implying only one backups folder. From RNR windows, view backups will ONLY show backups that match the UUID of the machine RNR is running on. If you run RNR standalone, you can go to the restore panel and check the "show all backups from all machines" options. This should show all 3 of your machines backups. There is no advantage to have 3 partitiions for 3 backup folder.  Sounds nice, wont work.
    ===
I will walk you thru a basic how it works on your end.  Correct me if you see something else.
    (1) external HDD
    part 1. small.
    part 2. medium
    part 3. large
All new partitions. All empty.  Back up large machine, it will chose part 3, create RNR backups folder, Take a FULL base backup. It will store the backup location in the C \RRbackups and the registry. This entry in the folder is named 0.  It should be roughly 1/2 the size of the Large machine C drive. Lets say 39 GB.  Run the next run.  This is an incremental backup (your term = partial).  This entry is named 1, and will be 2 GB., etc.
You uninstall RNR. Reinstall, change location to Second. Run a backup.  This will be an incremental backup (2) and will continue where it left off. (ie, it should find the old folder with uuid inside).
    (2) the mess
You backup medium computer. It will find the part3 RNR backups but no matching UUID. humm.. Will it use folder on part3 or choose a largest free space partition, like part 2.    You will have to test.  I would vote for part 3.
    ===
    In summary:
I believe RNR is designed for only 1 rrbackups folder on an external HDD, regardless of the number of partitions. You seem to indicate you have 3 RRbackups folders on 3 partitions. Look inside each folder.  It might be just using part3 for all your backups and you just dont see it. (ie, were you using part 1 for small machine, took a backup, then added part 2 and part 3, etc). This might work.  Small machine is locked in on small part 1.  Large is locked in on part3. But if you uninstall RNR on small machine, reinstall, take backup.  hum.  It will probably switch over to part 3.  or find part 1.
This is risk and time you do not need to take.  You want a solid plan that works. Based on this mess, I think RNR folks decided to design only 1 RNR backups folder on external.

  • Rescue and Recovery: No backups available for "local hard drive" with Full Restore

I can see all my backups in "view all backups" and can restore individual files, although when I select the option for "full restore", it reboots my PC and brings up the Rescue and Recovery interface which gives me the option for "full restore".  When I select "full restore", it asks me to select the source.
As my backups are stored on my local hard drive, I select that source, however the scroll box is empty (no backups available for selection).
Can anyone recommend a solution to fix this problem, or should I remove and re-install Rescue and Recovery, then create new backups (and hope they appear in the list for full restore)?
I am running Rescue and Recovery 4.21.0016.00 on a Lenovo T61p with XP SP3.
    Thanks.

    Also, I have RnR 4.00.0117.00.

  • How to make the RESCUE AND RECOVERY hidden partition when changing the hard disk drive

I've got T61 and I'd like to know if is it possible (in case of changing the HDD) to make the RESCUE AND RECOVERY hidden partition  on the new hard disk drive? If yes - please let me know how to do that.

hi you the rescue partition is made automatically when you use your recovery cd's on the new HDD so no problem there!

  • AHH Thinkvantage Rescue and Recovery won't let me get into Windows RecoverY!

So I'm having the error Windows failed to start; NLS data is missing or corrupt. What I've read on the internet told me said that I should enter the Windows Repair disk and proceed. I don't have an optic drive, nor was my tablet (X61T) shipped with discs. I've created a bootable image of the windows recovery disk on a USB, but when I enter it the only option is to go into thinkpad rescue and recovery. There's no way around this as far as I can see. Also, windows doesn't start at all, no safe mode, no last working configuration, none of those.
Thinkvantage R&R doesn't let me do the same repair function as Vista, nor can it restore from vista's backups as far as Ican see. The only option is Full restore, as quick restore is not pressable.
HELP! I don't even want this stupid program anymore, is there any way to uninstall it?
And I was going to just make a copy of the HD and factory reset it, but when I recovered all the files and was double checking, some of the files which I have hidden were missing, so I can't go about wiping it anymore. Please help!

  • Where is Rescue and Recovery 4.50 for Windows 7 and why was it removed from the support site?

When Rescue and Recovery 4.51 was released a few weeks ago, all references to the previous version were replaced. Unfortunately, the new release is not supported on the R series machines nor on the earlier T series machines, so for those machines, the only version of Rescue and Recovery for Windows 7 that is available is version 4.30.0027 which was released in September 2009.
    This makes no sense.
Please re-instate the documentation and download links for Rescue and Recovery 4.50 for all machines which were supported on that release but are not on version 4.51.

    Thank you for your response.
The R61 and the R500 that I own, that are currently running Windows XP are staying there until Microsoft stops supporting Windows XP, at which point I will decide what to do with them, so trying 4.51 on them is not currently an option.
As an IT professional, I tend to be the support guy for all the Lenovo computers in my family. My son also has an R500, which was purchased used, and it came with Windows 7. When I set it up for him, I installed Rescue and Recovery 4.5 over 4.3 before taking the original full system image backups.  He would loose the capability to use those backups if I were to try to downgrade that machine to Rescue and recovery 4.3. My own R500 came with Rescue and Recovery 4.30.0025, (for which there is no documentation nor download links available, to my knowledge), and I have never upgraded it, because I am concerned that all my backups would become unreadable if I did. I don’t think it is worth the effort to make all the external bootable backups that upgrading the software would require. I would upgrade if I was assured that version 4.30.0027 could read the backups taken by version 4.30.0025.
There were 2 more versions of Rescue and Recovery. There was version 4.31.007 released on 2010/09/28 and version 4.31.011 released on 2011/03/04. The document ID’s for release 4.51 are the same as those for the 4.31 releases, so I should assume that Lenovo considers the 4.31 releases a major advance over the 4.30 release, and thus not a valid fallback option but why not?

  • Rescue and Recovery 4.3 on Win7 doesn't see a backup on external USB hard drive - Model W510

I've run the Rescue and Recovery utility within Windows 7 on two different external USB hard drives thinking that maybe it was a usb drive issue.  When I open the R And R utility in expert mode I can see that both backups exist on their respective drives.  I planned on updating my hard drive so I made a full hd backup and the R&R startup disc to boot the laptop from.  The bios recognizes either external hard drive at boot with no problems.  It shows the names and "+" sign next to drives.  So I booted the drive at startup off the DVD drive with the R&R startup disc after I was sure that the bios recognized either external drives.  Then when I choose a "Full" restore is of course asks me if I want to use hd, cd/dvd, or external usb drive which I choose the later.  It then should show me the backup that I created earlier just as it did when I ran the utility from the Win7 environment so I can choose it to restore from.  But I get a blank box showing no backups when I run the 4.3 R&R Startup disc.  Again if I boot to Win7 and go into the R&R utility I can see the backup on the exact same USB external drive.  Then boot off the CD startup recovery disc and it shows NO BACKUP!  Help please!  I want to shelf my old hard drive "as is" and create the Restore onto the new hard drive but the utility isn't working for me.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hmmm,
Seems like that _should_ work.  Here's a way you might be able to finesse it:  go to the advanced R&R menu in Win 7 and create rescue media on your USB drive.  It's essentially the same process as creating the CD - it makes the USB drive bootable and puts a copy of R&R there.
There _should_ be an option to "preserve existing data" but be prepared to lose your existing backup and make it again.
Then just boot the external USB drive and see if R&R recognizes a backup image on the same drive from which you booted.
That's the way I usually migrate to new drives.  Maybe it will get around your mysterious problem.

  • Hong Kong vs Canadian hard drive + Rescue and Recovery FROZEN at Installing Language Pack

    Hello everyone,
I have a Lenovo T61 Widescreen (Type: 7658CTO) that I bought in Canada in May 2008. Unfortunately my warranty has expired.
I had some problems with my 1st hard drive (which came shipped with my Canadian machine) and so had it swapped with a new one using Lenovo's Hong Kong On-Site service in January of this year (I now live in Hong Kong).
I am trying to do a Rescue and Recovery (full system restore to factory settings) using the Hong Kong drive, but it is frozen at "Please Wait, Preload Customization in Progress...." There is an accompanying command line screen that says "Installing Chinese Hong Kong language pack". At the top of this command line screen it says "Select X:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe - call c:\swwork\autoex.cmd"
It has been frozen for over an hour. I have tried rebooting but it freezes again at "Please Wait, Preload Customization in Progress..."
I do not have Rescue and Recover CDs as they were not an option at the time I purchased my machine. In the past, I have several times successfully recovered and reinstalled from my hard drive partition on my Canadian hard drive.
Both Canadian and Hong Kong hard drives were running English Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.
Unfortunately, I do not have my Canadian hard drive anymore because I had to hand it over to the Hong Kong technician in order to recieve a new hard drive.
Could it be that the Hong Kong On-Site Warranty service merely made a Ghost Image of a English Vista config without copying the necessary back-up partition to the hard drive?
Any other ideas for why my Rescue and Recovery is frozen???
    Thanks!
    Richmond

    Hi,
    Your question is confusing.
"Factory recovery" option creates self-contained media with the full image of the OS + needed drivers and is bootable, so you can boot from it and install OS+drivers to the original state. When you bought your machine, it should have a "Q" partition (possibly hidden) that holds this image, and that is what is copied to the media plus the boot environment.
"Create rescue media" from the advanced menu in Rescue and Recovery makes a bootable disk that you can use to boot the computer from, and on it will be a separate little version of R&R that lets you choose to restore from a backup or from factory disks/images. It does not (if I am right) have an image of the OS or drivers. However, it does (if I am right again) search your connected drives for such images and will offer you to restore from one if it finds one.
It seems to me that when you used rescue media, you probably booted into the rescue media but then might have restored from a non-Lenovo windows image? Did you by any chance have a drive with a non-Lenovo Windows installation disk connected?
Also, the fact that R&R is a 32-bit program should not affect what OS is restores; it restores whatever is in the image.

  • Issues with a T61 harddisk, UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, cannot also get in the Rescue and Recovery

    Dear Lenovo Support Community,
I have a T61 with XP pro on it. This is the history of my harddisk problems with it:
(the harddisk is HDD0 Fujitsu MHW21160BJ G1 and everything in laptop (HW and SW) are same as the factory sold one)
    1. Unfortunately I had not made any recovery cd/dvd when the computer was healthy
    2. Some time ago, after a crash, and during the chkdsk in the following boot up, harddisk showed 12kb bad sector
    3. Due to more crashes and not being able to login once, went to rescue & recovery and only recovered OS to an old and healthy state. Kept my data, lost all the new programs installed but got the OS fine and running. --> I guess the bad thing that may have happened is that recovered OS may have used those bad sectors as well, but this is just a guess.
    4. Problems, slow downs, the 12kb bad sector, issues kept coming back every couple or few weeks. Repeated the rescue and recovery OS installations another two times.
    5. Few days ago, all was good, but needed to restart, but this time a blue screen came up with UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. This screen comes up even if I try to go into safe mode, with networking, or even with only DOS prompt.
    6. Tried to go to rescue and recovery (version 4), it took a really long time and was telling me that something wrong with the file \minit\setupapi.log and after a long long time that it got in the page for rescue and recovery, it was not doing anything by clicking on any of the buttons.
    7. Took the hard out, connected it through an external enclosure to another computer, the main drive could not be read at all, I/O error, not distinguishable.
    8. But the SERVICE drive was understood and I could even run chkdsk /F F:\ on it and it repaired the file mentioned above (\minit\setupapi.log).
    9. Put the hard back into T61, went to rescue & recovery, this time the error on the file was not showing up, but since the step #8, I have not been able to get pass the initial screen of rescue & recovery. It doesn't go in at all.
    10. Found it through Google search, the famous post on this forum about fixing the Master Boot Record. Got the little program, burned on a CD, went through all of its steps, finished as described in the famous thread, but I am not sure if it has been any help to me so far.
    11. In few other occasions, connected the hard through the external enclosure to another computer and found online and used programs like Disk Doctors Windows Recovery Data and EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard and was able to just read inside both NTFS main disk and FAT32 service disk (windows can also read the service disk but cannot read the main disk). Using the free version of EASEUS, I could even read and save my personal data since my last backup, so I am good to even format the T61 hard but still I don't want to give up on that.
    12. While the lenovo harddisk is in it, in a restart went to BIOS (F1) and ran the harddisk diagnosis, It said: "Pass: Controller Diag, Error code 0000: Read verification failed". And after the "Test complete", it gave a red message in the middle of screen that "<<< An error was found. Call for service >>>"
    13. As mentioned in #1, I don't have Lenovo's recovery Windows XP CD(s) for T61, but I have some other windows xp installation CD's, I thought I can put them in CD drive, boot up from CD, and try to recover or repair the windows, It seems that they tell me there is no harddisk in your computer!! When I press "R" to go to recovery console, it tells me: "Setup did not find any hard drives installed in your computer."
My questions for dear members of this forum are:
    1. Can I recover my T61 harddisk with the above description? It is being read nicely with the recovery programs, so it should have not been damaged seriously. Please guide me to other things that I can try?
    2. I can see and read the Service part of the drive from Windows (no recovery program needed) while connecting the drive through external enclosure to another computer. Can I run a program from the Service part of disk and make those T61 Recovery CD and DVD?
    3. If I purchase the Recovery CD(s) from Lenovo, would they be doing any magic or help in my case described above?
    4. Can I make recovery CD(s) from another T61 laptop and use them for mine?
Thanks all for reading my long post and helping me. God Bless.
    Best Regards,
    AL_K

    Step One: Install windows
    Step Two: run system update
Step Three: Your done (optionally have a beer and relax)
Sorry, step three was a bit of humor I added.
Actually these recovery CDs were produced before the first T61 was made, probably in 2006. The T61 line was replaced in 2008.
You can activate with the code on your COA, I've done it many times, just make sure you do a full (new) installation, not an upgrade, from an oem disc.
If you do end up using the original product recovery disc set, your steps are more like this...
    1. Install disc one...   wait 30-60mins
    2. Install disc two...   wait 30-60mins
    3. Install disc three...  wait 30-60mins
    4. Install disc four...   wait 30-60mins
    5. Install disc five...  wait 30-60mins
    6. Install disc six...   wait 30-60mins
    7. Install disc seven...   wait 30-60mins
    8. Install disc eight...  wait 30-60mins
    9. download latest service pack for windows and install (over an hour)
    10. Install (replace old version)  system update and run.
    11. go to windows update and update several years worth of patches and hotfixes. (1-4 hours)
    12. kick back and have a warm beer and cold pizza, if there is any left after I finished hours ago and celibrated already.
Also, after going through all that, you've not only installed windows, then replaced nearly the entire operating system, but you've also used valuable harddisc space to make several redundant copies of the outdated files, drivers and apps.
Please understand, I'm not saying the recovery discs are a bad design, they work great, and back in 2006-7-8-9 I'd happily go through all that work, but today all the stuff on them is to old so it's futile to go through all that. It would be really nice if Lenovo updated the install discs, and we could download the latest version to use, but they basically just leave them untouched after the model line is released, so nothing on that disc is newer then about 2006.
I'll also add that both George and I have done this well over 100 times each, so we wouldn't be suggesting this if it wasn't the best option, but in the end you'll have a working system no matter which route you take to get there, so the only question to ask yourself is...
Do you like your beer cold and your pizza hot
Good luck, and enjoy your endeavours

  • Rescue and Recovery Won't Open on My R61i Laptop

Computer: 2008 Lenovo R61i Laptop with Windows XP, SP 3, 2 GB RAM, Intel Duo Core processor, 34 GB free on the hard drive
I had been wondering why my 160 GB hard drive was filling up even though I only have 10 GB of documents, photos, and videos saved, so I downloaded a little program called windirstat, and it told me that 50 GB was being used for RRbackups. Google told me what that is, and I opened it and checked to see how many backups were there (it said 5, counting an initial "basic" backup). I attempted to delete the newest one, but I can't tell if the process finished, and now I can't get Rescue and Recover to even open. I have defragged my hard drive, I have tried it in SAFE MODE, nothing works.
Here are my questions and additional info:
Is the initial "basic" backup where the backup of  the Windows XP operating system is located? (I'm guessing that if the answer is "yes," then I don't want to delete that backup.) The size of this backup is 36 GB.
If so, could that backup be moved to an external hard drive and still be usable?
I also have Go Back (keeps a compressed image of my hard drive on the same drive for restoration of files and reverting the hard drive to a previous status). I have used this program for years and would rather use it that Rescue and Recovery for incremental backups because it's automatic and updates more often.
I also now use Carbonite, so I may need to rethink how I should use R & R and GoBack.
I'm thinking that I would like to keep the R&R initial back for Windows files but tell R&R to not to any more backups, then continue to use GoBack and Carbonite.
The primary problem at the moment is that R&R won't open at all, so I can't delete any backups and I can't tell it to stop trying to do incremental backups. HELP!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim King

    Hi,
can you please describe, how did you tried to delete the RnR backup? Using GUI, or manually in the RRbackups?
NOTE: The files stored in the RRbackup are encrypted and each file has also a metadata file, that conatins the informations on the purpose of that one file and some other usefull informations for RnR so that the restore can work.
Here are the answers on your questions:
    1) If I understand it correctly, then the answer is YES. In case you have placed all the RnR backups localy, then the basic/initial backup and also the other incremental backups are stored exactly in the RRbackups folder.
    2) YES, you can move it, BUT not manually. You need to use the RnR GUI to copy/move the backup on a network drive, or USB HDD. You can read more about this option in the Manual for RnR (sorry I don't want to describe it in here, as this is a bit longer description). So please review following guide:
    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkvantage_en/rnr43dg.pdf
Page 61 describes this process using the rrcmd.exe utility.
    3) I think, this is just a note
    4) same here
    5) In this case, it's of course possible to keeep just the original/inicial backup. In case you don't want to do any other backups, then you just make sure, that you dissable the scheduler of RnR and don't do any other backups.
    6) For this situation, the crucial point is, what did you deleted in the RRbackups. However, the first point, that I would do is to reinstall, or repair RnR. NOTE: Please use the same package, or the package, that is stored on your system. From Add/REmove programs.
Please let me know, if you have any add questions to this situation.
    Cheers

  • Recovering backup data from a previous version of Rescue and Recovery

    Dear All,
can you please advice how can I restore the system&data (Windows 7)
I created recovery CDs and did the full backup (USB drive)
I changed disk (diagnostic reported warnings for the old one)
    I recovered system from CD
I wanted to recover full backup/image from USB drive, however
after reboot R&R 4 starts and error message "... backup taken with previous version..." is displayed.
I wanted to recover single file (R&R 4.31)  from USB drive, however
error message "The list box identifierwas not found"  is displayed
What shall I do? upgrade R&R to 4.51? downgrade R&R to 4 (where are downloads)? something else? what R&R versions exist for W7?
    thanks in advance.

Thank you for coming back to my issue.
