  • T61 upgraded to Windows 7, now can't install Rescue and Recovery or Bios update.

I have a T61 6459 CTO that had XP SP3 on it. I upgraded to WIndows 7. I tried to install TVTVRNR450_025en, but I get an error msg "Rescue and Recovery does not support installing from the Operating System which upgrade from a legacy pre-load system." I tried deleting all old RNR and CSS programs in the old files after the install, but nothing seems to work. There is nothing listed in my add/remove programs. My Thinkvantage button doesn't work. How do I remove the old RNR? Should I have done that prior to installing Windows 7? Do I need to re-install my XP backup and start over? My Bios update extracts, but doesn't install. Help!

    Hi, FSURN82
I did some research and was able to find this thread from Lenovo Forums. There are a few other people having similar issues. For some, installing an older version of Rescue and Recovery (sometimes even the one for their OS before the upgrade) would work fine. For some, however, they could not get it to work, so they would create backups manually using Windows.
As for the BIOS issue, what version are you currently running and to what version are you trying to upgrade?
    Thanks,
    Adam

  • Rescue and Recovery will not install on Windows 7 upgrade

I have a thinkpad SL500 that I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 a week ago.  I have tried to install Thinkvantage Rescue and Recovery but get this error message during the initial install:  "Rescue and Recovery does not support installing from the operating system which upgrade from legacy preload system."
I did load Win 7 32 bit from a legacy Vista preload system.  I have been trying to install R&R v4.5.  Is there a workaround to get ThinkVantage R&R on this Windows 7 machine?  Thanks, John

Win 7 does come with it's RE environment.  On my pc I can:
    (1) boot into windows 7 (default)
    (2) PF8 boot windows into Safe mode, which will allow me to Launch the Windows recovery environment.  This is
mostly a Repair environment, but can invoke other items, such as Windows restore.  This is NOT an restore from backup tool , per se.
    (3) PF 11 boot into RNR standalone environment.
All 3 have Bootable software on my C drive, and entries in the BCD (boot control data). Could you document what your pc/laptop was shipped with from Lenovo.  An original windows vista or windows 7? A shipped Lenovo, with win 7,should have a Z partition and a X partition.  One has the RNR standalone, the other has the Factory install data to reset back to OBE, out of the box experience.
Did you purchase a WIN 7 DVD upgrade disc from a retailer? Could you also post a screen shot from Disk management that shows the attributes of the D drive.  I am trying to find out if the D drive is Active
Check under the status line,  HEALTHY(Active, primary partition). Did you try the Diskpart command?.
You do not need to worry about SYSPREP.  It is mainly an Administrator tool for deploying system images.
By the button, do you mean the Thinkvantage blue button?  This just tells the BIOS to boot into the RNR standalone environment.   My original system was a Vista.  Thus I have no experience verifying the X and Z drives.  This info is just from reading other posts.

As a side note, Does your win 7 support Bitlocker? Can you view the contents of YOUR D drive?

  • T61 Lenovo Rescue and Recovery BSOD

    Hi,
I've got a problem booting into the Lenovo Rescue and Recovery partition.
System is a T61 (64665DG) with Rescue and Recovery 4.21.1016.00
I receive the following BSOD message:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
    Technical information:
    ***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D6528,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
It seems to be a problem with the AHCI controller not being supported. When I switch the SATA Controller Mode from AHCI to Compatibility in the BIOS it then successfully boots into the Rescue and Recovery environment.
Why is it missing the correct AHCI driver? It used to work fine with the older version of Rescue and Recovery in AHCI mode. Is there a fix available for the Rescue and Recovery software to allow you to run it without having to put the SATA controller in AHCI mode?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks both for your replies. The inability for it to boot the Rescue and Recovery partition in AHCI mode persuaded me to examine the contents of the partition for anything obvious amiss. Using Linux I was able to mount the FAT partition and have a nose around. In the /minint/system32 directory it's got a number of sub-directories for the Intel Iastor driver - that used to access the HD in AHCI mode. I couldn't find any reference to that in txtsetup.sif and the winpeoem.sif file was empty. After some Googling I found out that you can easily load additional mass storage drivers using winpeoem.sif.
IBM have a program called rrutil.exe that allows you to access the RnR partition from within Windows, it's part of the Rescue and Recovery Administrator Tools.
To modify winpeoem.sif first install the RnR admin tools and open a command prompt window in the install location - C:\SWTOOLS\TOOLS\Z652_Admin016. Make sure the C:\Temp directory exists and is EMPTY - this is very important. You then need to create a "getlist.txt" file:
    echo \minint\system32\winpeoem.sif > getlist.txt
retrieve the file from the RnR partition
    rrutil.exe -g getlist.txt C:\Temp
     type
    notepad C:\Temp\minint\system32\winpeoem.sif
    and paste in
    [Version]
    signature="$Windows NT$"
    [OemDriverParams]
    OemDriverRoot=""
    OemDriverDirs=IASTOR
upload the changes with (this will write everything from Temp to the RnR partition!)
    rrutil.exe -p C:\Temp
Or you could just modify /minint/system32/winpeoem.sif directly in Linux without messing about with the rrutil.exe.
With this small modification to winpeoem.sif I was able to successfully boot into the Lenovo Rescue and Recovery partition with AHCI mode enabled. I haven't tried reinstalling windows xp with this fix.

  • T61 Boots to "Rescue and Recovery

I'm a desktop support tech working on an issue with a T61 that has started booting to Rescue and Recovery every time it is booted on a docking station.  It seems fine when off the doc.   I booted several times off the doc and it boots normally.  I booted several times on the doc and it goes to Rescue and Recovery.
Any help with a fix would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Excellent.  Now how about clicking that "Accept as solution" button
Do you have a friend with cable/DSL who can download and burn SP3 for you?

  • Issues with a T61 harddisk, UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, cannot also get in the Rescue and Recovery

    Dear Lenovo Support Community,
I have a T61 with XP pro on it. This is the history of my harddisk problems with it:
(the harddisk is HDD0 Fujitsu MHW21160BJ G1 and everything in laptop (HW and SW) are same as the factory sold one)
    1. Unfortunately I had not made any recovery cd/dvd when the computer was healthy
    2. Some time ago, after a crash, and during the chkdsk in the following boot up, harddisk showed 12kb bad sector
    3. Due to more crashes and not being able to login once, went to rescue & recovery and only recovered OS to an old and healthy state. Kept my data, lost all the new programs installed but got the OS fine and running. --> I guess the bad thing that may have happened is that recovered OS may have used those bad sectors as well, but this is just a guess.
    4. Problems, slow downs, the 12kb bad sector, issues kept coming back every couple or few weeks. Repeated the rescue and recovery OS installations another two times.
    5. Few days ago, all was good, but needed to restart, but this time a blue screen came up with UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. This screen comes up even if I try to go into safe mode, with networking, or even with only DOS prompt.
    6. Tried to go to rescue and recovery (version 4), it took a really long time and was telling me that something wrong with the file \minit\setupapi.log and after a long long time that it got in the page for rescue and recovery, it was not doing anything by clicking on any of the buttons.
    7. Took the hard out, connected it through an external enclosure to another computer, the main drive could not be read at all, I/O error, not distinguishable.
    8. But the SERVICE drive was understood and I could even run chkdsk /F F:\ on it and it repaired the file mentioned above (\minit\setupapi.log).
    9. Put the hard back into T61, went to rescue & recovery, this time the error on the file was not showing up, but since the step #8, I have not been able to get pass the initial screen of rescue & recovery. It doesn't go in at all.
    10. Found it through Google search, the famous post on this forum about fixing the Master Boot Record. Got the little program, burned on a CD, went through all of its steps, finished as described in the famous thread, but I am not sure if it has been any help to me so far.
    11. In few other occasions, connected the hard through the external enclosure to another computer and found online and used programs like Disk Doctors Windows Recovery Data and EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard and was able to just read inside both NTFS main disk and FAT32 service disk (windows can also read the service disk but cannot read the main disk). Using the free version of EASEUS, I could even read and save my personal data since my last backup, so I am good to even format the T61 hard but still I don't want to give up on that.
    12. While the lenovo harddisk is in it, in a restart went to BIOS (F1) and ran the harddisk diagnosis, It said: "Pass: Controller Diag, Error code 0000: Read verification failed". And after the "Test complete", it gave a red message in the middle of screen that "<<< An error was found. Call for service >>>"
    13. As mentioned in #1, I don't have Lenovo's recovery Windows XP CD(s) for T61, but I have some other windows xp installation CD's, I thought I can put them in CD drive, boot up from CD, and try to recover or repair the windows, It seems that they tell me there is no harddisk in your computer!! When I press "R" to go to recovery console, it tells me: "Setup did not find any hard drives installed in your computer."
My questions for dear members of this forum are:
    1. Can I recover my T61 harddisk with the above description? It is being read nicely with the recovery programs, so it should have not been damaged seriously. Please guide me to other things that I can try?
    2. I can see and read the Service part of the drive from Windows (no recovery program needed) while connecting the drive through external enclosure to another computer. Can I run a program from the Service part of disk and make those T61 Recovery CD and DVD?
    3. If I purchase the Recovery CD(s) from Lenovo, would they be doing any magic or help in my case described above?
    4. Can I make recovery CD(s) from another T61 laptop and use them for mine?
Thanks all for reading my long post and helping me. God Bless.
    Best Regards,
    AL_K

    Step One: Install windows
    Step Two: run system update
Step Three: Your done (optionally have a beer and relax)
Sorry, step three was a bit of humor I added.
Actually these recovery CDs were produced before the first T61 was made, probably in 2006. The T61 line was replaced in 2008.
You can activate with the code on your COA, I've done it many times, just make sure you do a full (new) installation, not an upgrade, from an oem disc.
If you do end up using the original product recovery disc set, your steps are more like this...
    1. Install disc one...   wait 30-60mins
    2. Install disc two...   wait 30-60mins
    3. Install disc three...  wait 30-60mins
    4. Install disc four...   wait 30-60mins
    5. Install disc five...  wait 30-60mins
    6. Install disc six...   wait 30-60mins
    7. Install disc seven...   wait 30-60mins
    8. Install disc eight...  wait 30-60mins
    9. download latest service pack for windows and install (over an hour)
    10. Install (replace old version)  system update and run.
    11. go to windows update and update several years worth of patches and hotfixes. (1-4 hours)
    12. kick back and have a warm beer and cold pizza, if there is any left after I finished hours ago and celibrated already.
Also, after going through all that, you've not only installed windows, then replaced nearly the entire operating system, but you've also used valuable harddisc space to make several redundant copies of the outdated files, drivers and apps.
Please understand, I'm not saying the recovery discs are a bad design, they work great, and back in 2006-7-8-9 I'd happily go through all that work, but today all the stuff on them is to old so it's futile to go through all that. It would be really nice if Lenovo updated the install discs, and we could download the latest version to use, but they basically just leave them untouched after the model line is released, so nothing on that disc is newer then about 2006.
I'll also add that both George and I have done this well over 100 times each, so we wouldn't be suggesting this if it wasn't the best option, but in the end you'll have a working system no matter which route you take to get there, so the only question to ask yourself is...
Do you like your beer cold and your pizza hot
Good luck, and enjoy your endeavours

  • Rescue and Recovery "File is in use and can't be copied" errors - T61 - WXP

    Hi and thanks -
When Rescue and recovery backs up, I frequently get  the error message, "This file is in use and can't be backed up.  Close all programs and try again" [my paraphrase].
Here is everything I have tried:
Restarting Windows and backing up "clean" - I have also attempted doing a "Clean boot" by stopping all services in "msconfig". - still got many of the error messages.
Starting in Safe mode - Rescue and restore doesn't work at all
Starting up in "ThinkVantage" and doing a backup from there - Rescue and restore will restore from a previous copy, but will not back up.
This backup error has gone on ever since I bought this macine used in January 2011, and I have never cared much.  But recently the machine had a "fatal error", and all of the backups were useless.  I had to comletely restore the machine to factory settings, which means I had to re-load all of my data and programs - an arduous task.  I do not want to meet this same fate again.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks!

Have you tried running a backup with your virus scanner / internet security software turned off? Sometimes these software can "hang" on files or folders with the intent to protect them and therefore prevent them being read
Before attempting the above please ensure your system has no Internet access

  • Rescue and Recovery, restoring files from a vista system to a new Windows 7 system.

I had been using rescue and recovery to back up the system on my Thinkpad X300, up until a few months ago.  The OS was vista, and I have since upgraded to Windows 7.  Yesterday, my laptop was stolen, and have lost a good amount of important data.  Before I go shelling out $$$ for a new thinkpad, My question is, will I be able to use Rescue and Recovery on a  Windows 7 system for files that were backed up on a system running vista?

    mottowa2, welcome to the forum,
sorry to hear your ThinkPad was stolen, not a nice thing to happen
I think the important factor is how / where you have saved your R&R backups. I'm guessing you copied them to other media?
    On the download site for R&R v.4.3, which is only compatible with W7, it states;
If you want to retain the ability to restore from backups created with a previous version of Rescue and Recovery, you must create a copy of your backup files on bootable, external recovery media before installing the latest version.
To archive your backups, complete the following procedure:
From the Rescue and Recovery main screen, click Backup, and then select Copy backups from hard drive from the drop-down list.
Select the medium you want to save your backup files to by clicking the appropriate radio button. The backup files that will be copied are listed on the user interface.
    Click OK to continue
    2. You will need blank removable media when copying backups from the hard drive to CD or DVD. Make sure that you label each disc as it is created, and that you store them together in a safe place.
Note: You will be prompted to make the external media bootable at the beginning of the process.
I believe, and sincerely hope, that all may not be lost.
    Let us know

  • Restore from Rescue and Recovery 4.1 FAILED

The machine is a Thinkpad T43 running XP. Rescue and Recovery 4.1 backing up to a network share.
Last night, while using nCleaner, I accidentally wiped 30% of my C: partition (I have two: C and D). Since I run a full weekly backup to a network share using Rescue and Recovery 4.1 (RR4.1), I used RR4.1 to do a full restore (via the "simple" interface), however it not only didn't work, it made things worse!
It seems that while R&R 4.1 recovered the programs that had gotten wiped out on the C partition, it deleted almost everything in the C:\Documents and Settings folder (profile information, settings, Thunderbird mail, etc). It also cleaned out my entire D partition!
R&R 4.1 seems to be gone now, BTW (or it's hidden somewhere and I can't find it).
I'm thinking of installing version 4.2 + the patch and trying to restore again.  Any idea what I can try at this point?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Bob,
which version of client security do you have?
From Lenovo site: "Rescue and Recovery 4.1 is only compatible with Client Security Solution 8.0 or later."
    or
have you tried uninstalling 4.0 and then 4.1 new?
    Regards
    Andy

  • Rescue and Recovery 4.2 Does not Launch from Start Programs Thinkvantage

I have a T61 with XP SP3.  I recently installed and uninstalled the version of Ubutuno that can be booted from Windows.  I played with it for a few days then uninstalled it.   Then I unistalled Rescue and Recovery using Add Remove programs...I am thinking of getting a SSD and I wanted to remove large programs before I image the disk.
I changed my mind and tried to reinstall Rescue and Recovery.  I got the error saying that my boot space was too small.  I used the Lenevo mbr repair feature that I found on this board.
I was then able to install R&R 4.21,  and I was able to create recovey disks using the create recovery disks program
However, when I try to launch  Rescue and Recovery,  (Start, Programs, Thinkvantage, Rescue and Recovery). the disk spins and I get the hour glass on the cursor...and the hour glass goes away after about 7 seconds...the disk continues too blink off and on, but the program will not launch.  The rrservice.exe and rrpservice exe services are running.  I tried disabling Kapernsky virus, and that did not help.  I have rebooted several times.
Any suggestions!  I will buy you a beer for sure!!
    Thanks
    Jeff

My other post just  gave you the basics.  I got tired to typing the same info over and over.
    Two issues lately.
    (1) I am going from vista to win7, and I have a Factory shipped Lenovo. RNR wont install.
    (2) I have win7 on a factory ship, and I want to go from Hdd to SDD.  USB recovery wont boot.
    ==
I take my backups to a 2nd HDD.  Also, every few months, I backup to a DVD set, HDD's may last 3 years, maybe 4. You dont want your loved backup on the C drive, and HDD fails. On top of that, if you back up to the C drive, the HDD grinds away. Read C, write to C\rrbackups.  Backup will run faster to 2nd HDD or USB.
    ===
You state a pristine Vista.  I am guessing it was a Factory shipped Lenovo with Vista.
The TIP in the other post is if you know of this issue BEFORE windows 7 install.
At the time during Win 7 install, and it is deciding where to put itself, there is a Default Recommended and I think a drop down list of other options.  This is tricky.  Example, (a). park me in the current C partition. (b) park me on the whole HDD.
Did you upgrade the Vista, inplace to win7 or did you clean install win7 to a blank C partition.
Lets see if you have a recovery(vista) partition.
Go to control panel>admin tools>computer management>disk management. Check to see if other partitions show up other than the C drive. Recovery partition should be around 10 GB. Sometimes this partition is labeled IBM_Preload or similar.
    Solution/workaround
I dont have 1 that i have tested.  Maybe other users can offer suggestions.
(1)You could delete the Q, but this might not clean up the MBR/BCD(boot control) entries.
    (2) Backup your loved win7, erase HDD, then restore.  MAYBE a win7 backup allows ignoring the Q partition.  I am not an expert with using win7 backup, and I dont have a q drive.
*** all this is time consuming**, risky, and may not   solve the issue.

  • Cannot start from the system after rescue and recovery

I have T42 and did "restore factory contents."  In the process, I use IBM product recovery CD from 1 to 6 and reboot.  However it does not start from Windows XP but IBM rescue and recovery with rapid restore.  I cannot get out form this although I restart  the computer.  I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

    Hello and welcome,
My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but IIRC some of the older laptops used a 2-step recovery process.  You first did the recovery from CD which put the recovery image and restore program on the HD.  One the next boot, the restore program starts, and you select to restore your drive from there.
So, do the recovery from media, reboot to the newly installed restore program, and select to restore your hard drive.
I hope that makes sense... and applies to your machine...

  • Recovering backup data from a previous version of Rescue and Recovery

    Dear All,
can you please advice how can I restore the system&data (Windows 7)
I created recovery CDs and did the full backup (USB drive)

    I recovered system from CD
I wanted to recover full backup/image from USB drive, however

I wanted to recover single file (R&R 4.31)  from USB drive, however
error message "The list box identifierwas not found"  is displayed
What shall I do? upgrade R&R to 4.51? downgrade R&R to 4 (where are downloads)? something else? what R&R versions exist for W7?
    thanks in advance.

  • Rescue and Recovery 4.5. Rescue media can't boot from FAT32 64GB flash drive.

T530 Windows 7. I did a full (base) backup to a 64GB USB flash drive formatted FAT32. R&R started by indicating “Rescue and Recovery Medium being created” and after a few hours finished the backup. When I click on ‘View all backups’ I can see the backup created. I then tested the flash drive to see if it’s bootable but the screen only shows rapidly moving white font gibberish over black background. I did the same as a test on a 8GB USB flash drive formatted NTFS (I had to stop the backup since 8GB was not enough space) but had no trouble booting from it. Both flash drives have the folders: boot, efi, Preboot, RRbackups, tvtos and files: bootmgr, bootmgr.efi, fcopy.ini. In other words, the only difference seems to be that it works with 8GB NTFS but not with 64GB FAT32. Is that the issue or just coincidence?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The readme file for RNR 4.5.1 states:

Unable to boot from a 64 GB USB memory key
When you create rescue media on a 64 GB USB memory key and then boot your computer from the memory
key, an error message is displayed, saying, ?¡ãError loading Operating System.?¡À
To solve the problem, change the 64 GB USB memory key to one with less storage capacity.

The question is.. is your Flash USB a memory key?
I would reformat  the 64GB to NTFS, then run the Create Rescue Media option onto it.  Then try to boot the USB.
There is another post out here stating on certain USB sticks, you have to PREFORMAT it,  using diskpart command, before using the Create Rescue Media option..

  • Using Rescue and Recovery to make backups from 3 different machines

Hello, I have three Thinkpad laptops, T400, X61 and R61i. I want to back up them using one external HD. The HD is divided into three partitions, the smallest for X61, the medium for R61i and the largest - for T400. I backed up all my laptops into the proper partitions (base backups), but now, then I want  to make partial backups, they all are going to the largest partition (intended for T400). Is it possible (and how) to cause R&R to always use the same partition for each laptop while backing up it?

    Please read the following post:

    From this post:
    (1) Learn how to change security/options to peak inside the RRbackups folder
    (2) The conclusion
outside of an existing RNR folder, For a NEW create RRbackups folder, it will choose the partition with the MOST FREE space.

I will offer some commentary and match it to what you are seeing.
    (1) What release of RNR are on the 3 machines? same release? The newer RNR  (been like this for a while), uses the UUID to separate backups within the SAME backup folder.
    (2) for the C drive hdd, you CAN select another  partition on the C drive hdd to hold the rrbackups folder, from the Advanced menu parms. This option is NOT available for second HDD.
    (3) You will always have a RRbackups folder on the C drive.  If you uninstall RNR, the C drive RRbackups is deleted.  ***** Any RRbackups on external hdd will remain***
    (4) What you want to do will not work. RNR is expecting one RNR backups folder on the external hdd, thus implying only one backups folder. From RNR windows, view backups will ONLY show backups that match the UUID of the machine RNR is running on. If you run RNR standalone, you can go to the restore panel and check the "show all backups from all machines" options. This should show all 3 of your machines backups. There is no advantage to have 3 partitiions for 3 backup folder.  Sounds nice, wont work.

I will walk you thru a basic how it works on your end.  Correct me if you see something else.
    (1) external HDD
    part 1. small.
    part 2. medium
    part 3. large
All new partitions. All empty.  Back up large machine, it will chose part 3, create RNR backups folder, Take a FULL base backup. It will store the backup location in the C \RRbackups and the registry. This entry in the folder is named 0.  It should be roughly 1/2 the size of the Large machine C drive. Lets say 39 GB.  Run the next run.  This is an incremental backup (your term = partial).  This entry is named 1, and will be 2 GB., etc.
You uninstall RNR. Reinstall, change location to Second. Run a backup.  This will be an incremental backup (2) and will continue where it left off. (ie, it should find the old folder with uuid inside).
    (2) the mess
You backup medium computer. It will find the part3 RNR backups but no matching UUID. humm.. Will it use folder on part3 or choose a largest free space partition, like part 2.    You will have to test.  I would vote for part 3.
    ===
    In summary:
I believe RNR is designed for only 1 rrbackups folder on an external HDD, regardless of the number of partitions. You seem to indicate you have 3 RRbackups folders on 3 partitions. Look inside each folder.  It might be just using part3 for all your backups and you just dont see it. (ie, were you using part 1 for small machine, took a backup, then added part 2 and part 3, etc). This might work.  Small machine is locked in on small part 1.  Large is locked in on part3. But if you uninstall RNR on small machine, reinstall, take backup.  hum.  It will probably switch over to part 3.  or find part 1.
This is risk and time you do not need to take.  You want a solid plan that works. Based on this mess, I think RNR folks decided to design only 1 RNR backups folder on external.

  • Rescue and Recovery after update from Windows Vista to 7

I've updated my 2 years old Lenovo T60 from the preinstalled Windows Vista to Windows 7. For short: I like it.
I kept the recovery partition but now want to update it, to keep it in sync with the current windows and Rescue and Recovery versions. By the way, due to earlier problems the system in this versions is not functional anymore. I tied to read the manual of Rescue and Recovery, but didn't get it...
Is their an "easy" way (or documentation) to accomplish that?
    Thanks and Greetings

The factory partition can't be updated - it is your recovery for what came out of the box with the system.  You can create factory recovery CD's/DVD's and store them somewhere just in case, and then you should be able to remove that partition and reclaim the space.  At that point, Rescue and Recovery for Win7 becomes your sole recovery option.
There is a lot of new architecture in the Win7 version of R&R so you can't "upgrade" it from Vista - you'll need to install the new version in Win7.  It would probably be a good idea to burn your Vista Rescue and Recovery backups to CD/DVD before you upgrade, too.
