Reservation Vs.Allocation
Hello,
we are working with Oracle Apps in a WMS inventory org on R11.5.10.2. We have an issue that seems to be a GAP within the Oracle Logisitics footprint and I was wondering if any of you can help with a solution
We have sales orders coming from 3 lines of business so we have 3 different SO types (let's call them STC, LTC, DEMO). These SO type share the same items and they can pick from the same subinventories, however, they also have dedicated subinventories which means STC order type will have a dedicated subinventory where only this order type can pick from. This business requirement is easily achieved using WMS rules.
The issue comes on reservations. All the subinventories are reserveable and ATP enabled. Reservations are working on organization level which means I can have a DEMO order reserving stock from the STC subinventory but the picking rules will not allow picking to occur.
Now imagine the following scenario:
1) stock only exists in STC pickable subinventory
2) DEMO order is raised for the same item reserving all the stock - sales rep for DEMO order checks ATP and commits to the customer we can deliver
3) picking for DEMO fails - as picking rules don't allow it
4) STC order is raised and reservations fails (since the stock is already reserved for DEMO)
5) STC order goes to backorder when stock exists - customer is not happy!!
The problem is actually worse than decribed because we have WIP and WIP cannot pick from certain subinventories.
This is a real scenario and we need a longterm solution. The issue is reservations as working on organization level with no distinction as to order type or source.
New orgs and new item codes are not solution because what differentiates the picking is the item "status" like new or second hand.
I'm sure others have come across this issue.
Any ideas how to workaround this issue?

your suggestion that the picking rules need reviewing is not feasible. Let me try to clarify. For sake of simplicity imagine the following: We have 2 subinventories NEW and USED. We have 2 order types STC and LTC. For LTC we always want to pick from USED first and then from NEW. For STC we only pick from NEW. The issue comes when there is only stock in USED of a particular item and the STC order is reserving it. Since both subinventories hold the same items (just in different conditions) how do you suggest we model the picking rules?
Regarding your second suggestion (performing hard reservation) - I'll arrange a conf call so you can tell the users they should do this on every line :-)
We have more thousands of lines shipped daily (not to mention the fact that customer service reps don't know where the stock is - thus ATP)

this would indeed be an option but as I recall this only allows reserving from one subinventory which defeats our model.... but I'll play around with this to see if I can work something. Thanks for this.
I think what Oracle needs is reservations to be more flexible (by source like WIP, SO, etc and by type like non-standard WIP job, standard WIP jobs, order type ,etc.)

HP LaserJet M175nw - is "Auto-Off" *actually* compatible with wifi?
So my new printer was advertised as promised that I could "Achieve up to 50% energy savings, using an HP LaserJet with HP Auto-Off Technology which automatically senses your printing activity, turning your printer off when you don’t need it."
This sounds ideal - I print maybe once every 2-3 days at most. The printer could be in sleep mode for most of the time and surely save me loads of energy. Sadly, after a few days my printer stops accepting print jobs. It's still "on" (green power light) and the control panel on the unit can be accessed, however once going into this sleep mode wifi access is lost and nothing I can do will re-instate the wireless connection (i.e. it should show a steady blue light on the front and the IP address in the LCD screen). All I can do is turn the printer off and back on again then everything works as before.
I have:
Set a static IP address on the printer (and reserved this allocation via the router)
Updated to the latest firmware
Confirmed that wireless signal strength is healthy (not too weak, not too near the router)
Now upon reading a few troubleshooting tips (including here on the HP support site stickies) I read the suggestion of "Check that the printer’s “Auto-off” feature is disabled. If this feature is enabled, the printer will power OFF after some period of non-use."
This suggestion seems to indicate that infrequent wireless access and power-saving are mutually exclusive - is this true? Even if the print does indeed "power OFF after some period of non-use", surely waking it from this state (as distinct from completely rebooting the printer) should be sufficient to wake the printer?!
Can anyone confirm just how "supported"/compatible the power-saving and wifi features are on this model? What I'm asking it to do doesn't seem unreasonable - I'd expected some sort of "wake on LAN"-style behaviour...Hi,

MTL_ONHAND_QUANTITIES strange issue

The scenario is as under
We have 3 POs all having line for same item say ITEM A
PO 1 with ITEMA qty 160
PO 2 with ITEMA qty 200
PO 3 with ITEMA qty 24
In MTL_ONHAND_QUANTITIES we maintain information for In Transit Subinventory along with On Hand and the In Transit quantities are 160, 200 & 24 (Approved, Open yet to receive POs)
When we fully received for PO 1 160 was knocked off from In Transit in MTL_ONHAND_QUANTITIES but strangely The Intransit quantity for 200 reduced by 10 to 190 and the Update Transaction Id for 190 points to the Create Transaction Id of 160
Then we received fully for PO 2 so the 190 line got knocked off but the line with In Transit qty 24 reduced by 10 to 14 and the update transaction id of 14 points to Create Transaction Id of 200
Could anybody tell is this a bug in the Oracle Process?Why is the In Transit getting consistently getting reduced by 10 if there are multiple POs for same Item.

MaheshThe onhand details are in a view called mtl_onhand_quantities
The availability details are not stored anywhere. You will have to calculate them by looking at mtl_reservations and mtl_material_transactions_temp. These two tables tell you how much quantity is reserved and allocated respectively.
To calculate availability, get onhand and then substract quantities from these 2 tables. Make sure you ignore PO reservations.

If they can be in transaction v.15 what is the purpose of having them there?

The thing to look for is quantity is not reserved against the quotation you create.
You can geve N number of quotations to customers but every time qantity can not be confirmed.
It is only reserved or allocated for orders in standard SAP.

How to get total physical memory on the system thru program
Hi,
I have used kstat for identifying physical & virtual memory. I am able to get the data items of vminfo_t, but vminfo_t doesnot give the total physical memory all I get fro vminfo_t is
free memory, swap reserved, swap allocated, swap available and swap free.
Can someone help me in getting total physical memory of the system.

RamI do not believe you can get the physical number of pages through kstat. However, you can get it through sysconf(3C). The argument SCPHYS_PAGES will return the number of pages in the system.

Items are autopicked to Stage Subinventory
Hi
we do a pick release through a custom program and this will do pick release & creates deliveries for all the eligible lines. it is seen that few items are autopicked to stage subinventory without performing the transact move order.
the pick release is not done manually it is done through a standard program and in the pick release rule the auto allocate option is disabled.
it is really strange that the Auto allocate to Stage subinventory without transact move order is happening only for few items and it cannt be replicated. it happens randomly.
can you anyone please help me.

kumarHi Kumar ... you have my sympathy: a situation that happens in Production but can't be replicated on a test instance is not a nice place to be!
Did you check the inventory transactions for those 'mystery' picks as I suggested in my previous post?
I'm not sure whether the fact that your custom program is only grouping order lines which are reserved has any bearing ... I'm not sure what happens with the allocation process when you are picking by prior reservation only. Usually the allocations are Oracle's suggestions, guided by your setup, as to which stock you should use to satisfy the pick but presumably when picking by prior reservation the allocation is not necessary.
Is there any reference on wsh_picking_batches to which release rule was used by your picks? Could it be that some of your picks were done without a release rule in which case the default values (auto pick confirm = on?) on your shipping parameters would be used?

Taking Resources Allocation memory reservations into account with CIQ 1.5
Hello all,
I am trying to use CapacityIQ (1.5.2) to estimate how many more VMs can fit in our environment. Unfortunately Capacity IQ appears to be estimating a _much_ larger number of available VMs (CIQ says space for 49 more VMs; Resource Allocation tab suggests room for ~1 more VM).
With the goal of having our VMs run optimally (many of them run java), we tend to use full memory reservations on our VMs, as suggested by VMware (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1008480). This post (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1601230#1601230) suggests that CIQ does not take memory reservations into account when calculating capacity. This would be a glaring oversight by VMware; please tell me it's not correct and that there is a setting that can be changed so I _can use_ (aka continue purchasing) CapacityIQ.

Batch reservation & Allocation in process order
I am allocating batch to process order components(for active ingridient)While I am allocating the batch I am able to select the batch which has all of its quantity reserved,which is not desireble.Any solutions please??/
Eg.In MMBE my batch stock(say for batch AA11) is as follows:Unres stck 100 & reserves 100
If I am determing batch for a different process order where this component is used,I am able to select the same batch,even though it has no open quantities.

MB25- Hold/ allocated items on reservation list is not reflected on stock
Hello,
We have reservations on MB25. On the list we see the material qty reserve. But on mm02 or mmbe the materials reserved are not accounted for and also we do not get warning about issuing materials that are already reserved
For example we have a 10 items of "A" in Stock. We reserve 5 "A" items for later use, but another request may occur and we issue 8 "A" items now. We do not get a warning that about the reserved items and we will be able to issue our the 8 "A" items.
Is there a way to resolve this issue of getting a warning if materials are issued even though reserved and to see the reserved items on MM02/ MMBE.
Right now we are just using MB25 more as a flag indicator that items are reserved.

Reservations Allocated to a Service Order
I am in desperate need of help.
For our RMA's when the inbound receipt is done the Service Order (IW32) is being created automatically. When the tech works on the material and needs to issue stock to the material the reservation is created automatically. If I made a mistake on this and delete the line item, I can not reenter another line item. It reserves the qty but when I go to perform goods issue it tells me there are no selectable items. The service order is in released status and not TECO.
Another issue is that no matter how many time I delete the line item and try to renter, the reservation stays and I can not delete the reservation....should the reservation not go away once the line item was deleted? Never a 261 mvmt performed at all......so there is not a cancellation of the goods movement.....
Please helpI figured this out by changing the qty on the service order to zero then selecting the delvery complete in the general data tab for that line item...this removed it as a requirement on the reservation

if u want to reseve the unrestricted stock for the reservation it should be a special customer stock so if u run MRP for soles order then only this unrestricted stock will get reserved for the order, so try to run MRP for ur sales order, then in this case ur special stock indicator S become 1 & ur unrestricted stock will get reserved for that order.

MTRR allocation problem on Dell Vostro
Hello good people,
I am having MTRR messages from kernel and a warning that graphics performance may suffer. I know from the sparse mtrr documentation around that I can set them up as I want and everything should work but after trying several changes, the only thing I have managed to do it get a horribly slow laptop.
I am running 64bit Arch on Dell Vostro 3550. I have 6GB ram and a hybrid video card setup with an Intel card and an ATI one. I am using the proprietary Catalyst driver and I also have the intel driver installed.

I noticed in /proc/config.gz that I don't have MTRR cleanup enabled by default so I tried adding enable_mtrr_cleanup to the boot line but I still don't get a good mtrr.

According to what I have read, I want to have these as write-combining. The other ranges I have no idea why they are there which complicates my attempts at fixing the mtrr.

There are a fair amount of people who have posted their /proc/mtrr there, you can compare yours to them.
In the end they come to the conclusion, that uncachable entries are not a problem, for the most systems.
However uncachable regions of 1024MB seem to be too large.
On my mtrr the biggest uncachable entry is 64MB.
So you might get improvement from solving this. -
Production Order Reservation for Available Quantity?
Hi Gurus:
We have the following situation.
Production order is created for material A. Component Z on this order requires 100 units. 10 Units are available in stock for Batch M. Reservation is created for 100 units of Batch M. Availablility Check confirms 10 units.
How can we get the reservation to match what is available and stop allocating the required quantity if it is not available?

NicIt seems the correct batches are being picked based on batch determination....it is only the reservation which seems to be differing. As in the example I gave the availability check proposed the correct batch and the correct amount which matched what was currently available in inventory...
However, the reservation itself was for the full quantity even though it was not available.
So the concern is strictly with the reservation not equaling what is actually available and instead matching the full requirement.

I followed and configured all the required steps for product allocation in ECC 6.0 Version still the product allocation is not working as expected.
Here are the steps performed
1. Created procedure through OV1Z

3. Create required info structure as per requirement T.code MC21
4. Specify Hierarchy and Define the “Product allocation planning structure”

Selected the product allocation procedure and given the required criteria and assigned to Info. Structure S991. Activated ‘Requirement category’ for product allocation

Created the product allocation plan for required quantity through MC94 IN spite of reserving stock as shown against the product allocation material specific and customer specific product allocation is not worked and the regular Atp check allocated stock to some other customer when created SO.

I checked the settings in Material master MRP 3 view for strategy group and it is 40.
Availability check is 02 assigned. OVZ9 settings are assigned correctly 02-A- SD Order.
Not knowing what is preventing to reserve the stock against product allocation!
Do you or any one know where to see the product allocation stock?
