"Reserved" batch numbers on orders "stolen" by unconnected deliveries

Hi,
I've had a good look around the many postings on here relating to batch determination issues and can't find one that fits this scenario, so her goes with a new post....
For some batch managed materials we trigger batch determination at order entry. For all batch managed materials we trigger batch determinatio nat delivery creation (obviously not if the batch has already been determined on the order).
I have a scenario that is causing a problem. Maybe it's just an issue of understanding how SAP really works.
I enter an order for material ABC and (correctly, due to set-up) batch determination is triggered and batch number 123 is assigned to the order. The quantity involved is the full quantity of the batch that is in stock. The order schedule line is confirmed but for a few days in the future so no Delivery to be created yet.
Meanwhile a Delivery is created for another order (that is confirmed for current date) for material ABC (where no batch was assigned to its order) and this assigns batch number 123, thus "stealing" the stock of the batch from the earlier order it was allocated to.
Is this "normal" or do I have a problem with a) my batch set-up or b) my availability check being applied on the deliveries?
Thanks,
M

Hi Shiva Ram:
I did what you suggested. I checked "include sales reqmts" and "include deliveries" in both sales order and delivery availability check control (OVZ9).
yet problem persists.
Material-xyz
total quantity (in MMBE & CO09): 15 (batch-AA:5 & batch-BB:10)
Scenario-I:
I created sales order-1 with order quantity 5 and hard allocated batch AA.
I created sales order-2 with order quantity-15 and did not allocate batch in the sales order.
We have batch determination at delivery.
batch job created delivery "12345678" (through VL10G) for sales order-2 with full quantity (15). It grabbed the quantity from sales order-1 to create above delivery.
Scenario-II: (for some other materials, it is behaving like below, though it got same availability check on MMR)
I created sales order-1 with order quantity 5 and hard allocated batch AA.
I created sales order-2 with order quantity-15 and did not allocate batch in the sales order.
I had put a delivery block (which does not block confirmations at line item level) at schedule line in sales order-1.
I had let system to create delivery for sales order-2. This time, system created delivery for quantity of 10 (because of back order logic). Its fine until now.
However, I went back to sales order-1 and removed delivery block. When I am trying to create delivery, it says "Only 0 EA of material XYZ batch-AA available." But, in the sales order, when I ran availability check, it still shows 5 are available. I am confused.
am i missing anything in the config? please advise. it helps me lot.
thanks for your time in advance.

  • Reserve Batch in Sales order

    Hi Friends,
We have Automatic batch determination at delivery level and when i give some batch at Sales order level to reserve, syetem in not considering that and issuing the same batches in delivery at the time of automatic batch determination at delivery level.
I want batch determination at delivery level but if any batch that is given at sales order level should get ignored at the time of Automatic batch determination at delivery. Can any one share your experience or add some information how to proceed with.
Thanks & Have a nice day.

    Hi,
I am not sure what level of authorization is assigned to the users, who create the sales order. If they have authorization to use MSC2N -Change batch, then my first suggestion is, if no auto batch search strategy is used in sales order,
    1) Add a batch characteristic called "reservation status" which can have values 1) reserved for sales order and 2) not reserved. Once the user selects the batch in the sales order, the user then can change the batch status as reserved for sales order using MSC2N. Similarly in the batch search strategy you can have the same characteristics and the user can select the value not reserved for the characteristics "reservation status". This way the batches assigned in the sales orders can be kept away from getting selected in the delivery document.
If the user does not have the authorization to use MSC2N and if the sales order also uses the same batch search strategy then my second suggestion is,
    2) To use the quantity proposal field in the batch search strategy type.
You can develop and add a routine to check whether the batch selected is assigned to a order or not.
If the batch is allocated to a sales order, then the auto determination proposal can leave that batch from the proposal.

  • Reserve batch number at creating of production order

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to reserve batch numbers when creating a production order. And when the production order is released and create the receipt, the receipt to use that batch number reserved at the moment of the creation of the PO.
How could I do this using the SDK?
    Best regards,
    Irina

    Hi,
    Thank you for your answer.
But, if I "reserve" the batches in a UDF in the production order, it might be that by the time the receipt from production is added those batch numbers to be used already.
    Any other ideas?
    Thank you,

  • Batch numbers

    Dear All,
I have created delivery with batch numbers and done PGI. But the same delivered batch numbers are shown in the search help for next delivery also.
How to control the above scenario?
    Thanks

    Hi,
As per the information same batch numbers are allocated to two different deliveries. This is only possible if you have created both the second delivery before doing the post goods issue for the first delivery in which the batch ggot determined.
For this you have check the awailability check rule configuration in OPJJ Transaction code for in which  your check rule(02) and combination B.
It seems that your check rule is not configured to consider Open deliveries , then the system will respond in the way that same batch numbers will be allocated twice.
check whether the configuration of awailability check.
    I hope this helps.

  • Batch reservation & Allocation in process order

I am allocating batch to process order components(for active ingridient)While I am allocating the batch I am able to select the batch which has all of its quantity reserved, which is not desireble.Any solutions please??/
    Eg.In MMBE my batch stock(say for batch AA11) is as follows:Unres stck 100 & reserves 100
If I am determing batch for a different process order where this component is used,I am able to select the same batch, even though it has no open quantities.
    Please suggest

    Hi Rele,
Please check in CO09 transaction for the availability of this batch stock whether it is free or confirmed to any other component like.

  • Reservation of component Batch for Process order

    Hi PP Guys,
I did the batch determination of a particular component batch in process order, but when I try to create another process order system proposing the available qty without considering the earlier reserved batches.
I want to view only the batches which are free from any reservations during batch determination in process order.
Example: If Batch "A" having qty 1000 kg in unrestricted stock.
I have created a process order and did the batch determination for the quantity of 900 kg,  when I create another process order for the same material system should propose only the available component batch qty of 100 kg only, but system still proposing the un-restricted available qty of 1000 kg.
Please advise me the solution to map the scenaio.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Purna

    Hi,
Check whether Reservation is included in your checking control(T.Code OPJJ).
If not then correct it by activating check box for Include reservations.

  • Batch Numbering vs. Production Order Creation

    Hello
I am in a Pharma environment and have the following question / issue:
Batches are auto created at Production Order creation/release. In several cases the batches are not numbering chronologically?
    A few givens / assumptions:
    No deletions
    No transfers
    No combinations
This is affecting the sample assignments / sample sizes, as well the Dyn. Mod. functionality, but I pose the question straighforward as I've posted above.
    Thanks for any thoughts..
    V.

    Please search:
Batch Numbers Skipping in Internal Number range Assignment
Anytime numbers are skipped it is usually due to buffering of numbers which is a BASIS function and is done to optimize system performance.
Please have BASIS look into this for the objects mentioned in the above link. Your  BASIS people should be well-acquainted with the process of number buffering across servers.
I am howevr curious as to how not having consecutive batch numbers affect the items you mentioned like sample sizes and DMR's.  Can you elaborate on that?  I can only imagine this is due to some customization or development you have done.

  • De-allocate batch from sales order

How do you de-allocate a Batch from the Sales Order , so that it becomes available to another Order?
I removed the Batch from the sales order and saved the order. A confirmation without the batch was created . However when I tried to determine the same batch in another Order it was not available.
I then rejected the line item and saved the order , and it allowed me to pick up the batch in a second order.
ATP quantity was available however the batch was not getting recognized till I rejected the order.
Any ideas on why this case?
    Thanks,
    Asha

    Hi,
This is because, when you ran Availability check, the batch was already reserved for the sales order. So once you remove the batch number, you should run availability check once again. Dont forget that if you are giving some other batch number to teh order now, the batch should have some stock.
So, after changing or deleting the batch number, run availability check once and then save the order. Then create the second sales order and assign the batch number. It will take the batch.

  • What are the Pros and Cons of Using Batch Numbers over Serialization

    Dear SAP Gurus:
Will someone please give me the benefits of using Batch Management over serial numbers in this case scenerio, or vice versa:
Client wants to trace all the components of an assembly in a BOM.  Even the Raw material.  The client sends the material out today and has the vendor assign serial numbers to the individual pieces, the client gives the range of serial numbers to use.  We are looking at using batch numbers to accomplish this and issue one material and batch number to a production order.  Then use MB56 batch where used functionality to view history.  I am wanting to understand the benefits of this.  Please advise and points will be awarded as always.
Also, in this scenerio, can you issue multiple material/batch numbers to one vendor op that has its own production order?

    Yes it is a subcontract.
Example:  This is the solution but need the pros and cons of doing this scenerio
Sheet of metal sent to vendor to make lets say 1800 peices of material number nas5703-01.  All 1800 pieces come back and issued to a production work order using one bacth number for one material item so that batch number can be traced in history in MB56 and a fit up report.

  • Batch numbering

    Hi
Batch management there are 3 internal number ranges and 1 external number range.
How system will automatically pick up the number range during batch creation (GR or release of prod.orders)?
If i create one more internal /External number range - how system will verify and create new batch with new number range?
Can you please through some lights on this....
    Thanks

Configure Customer Exits for Intern. Batch Number Assignment
You can use SAP enhancement SAPLV01Z for internal batch number assignment. This enhancement contains two function module exits that you can use to define number ranges or templates for batch numbers:
EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001. You use this exit to replace the number range object and/or interval proposed by the system with your own number range object and/or interval.
In addition, you can, for instance, stop the system from assigning an internal number depending on the material or plant. You can also use this exit to stop the dialog box from appearing.
EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002. Using this exit, you can either change the number assigned by the system, or assign your own number.
    Further notes
Both exits contain a communication structure with application data from the respective business transaction (plant or material type, for example).  If you need further information, such as the time, the user name or the date, you must include them yourself in one of the exits.
The system always checks whether the assigned batch number already exists in the system. If it does, it terminates the function without assigning a batch number.
    Example:
In function module exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001, the system uses the material type to determine number range interval XY. This number range is then used to determine number 0000100123 as the next batch number .
In function module exit  EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002, the final batch number 'ABCD100123' is determined from batch number 0000100123 and plant ABCD. The system suppresses the leading zeros.
If you do not use a sequential counter for the batch number, you can skip internal number assignment in exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 to specify your own batch number in exit EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002. Further information and examples for EXIT_SAPLV01Z_001 and EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002 Further information and examples for EXIT_SAPLV01Z_002

  • Sales Analysis Report for Batch Numbers

I am currently having an issue with Batch numbers and sales analysis report item wise. If the goods are delivered it does not show the quantity in the report. is there a way to make the quantites show. Open delivery notes show the quantity in the report. Could the reason be that once the delivery note is closed the quantity does not show in the report.????

    Dear Mr Shah,
If I understood correctly, you are saying that there is no issue in adding the document with the batch but it is not shown in the Sales Analysis report?
The Sales Analysis report does not show information regarding the quantity because it focuses on the value of the document.
In order to have an overview on the trasactions related to the batches please use the Batch Number Transaction Report under Inventory - Inventory report.

  • Multiple batch numbering in one client.

    Hi PP Gurus,
We have a business scenario wherein more than one business exist. For clients pharma business then batch numering logi is different and for other businesses it is different.
We have a proposal by which the Batch numbering at the time of Process order creation will be checked by User Exit about the existence of the batch key in manually.
But for other business we want to keep Internal batch numbering with other User Exit.
Can we have more than one kind of batch numbering; Internal & External both with different batch numbering logic?
    Thanks,
    Abu Arbab

    Hi Abu,
For the movement type where the batch is getting generated, in customizing for Batch creation
set it for Automatic / Manual check in USER EXIT.
    Try this out & revert.

  • Reserve batch will not be used ferther

    I am facing a problem as given below;
    1. We are creating new process order  under t-code cor1
    2. under material tab , while creating batch reservation of bom component , reserve batch qty of a component which are already reserved earlier , further considering against current process order .
For Example ABC is a WIIP material l (semi finished material ) , Under ABC material P , Q and L are the component.
suppose component P having stock of 50 kg.
Process order 1:  material ABC is producing 100 kg . To produce 100 kg 'P' is used suppose 30 kg and this is reserved against batch no a001 .
Now available stock of 'P' for reservation is 50 - 30 = 20 kg is available
Now Process order 2  material ABC is producing 100 kg . To produce 100 kg  'P' is required  30 kg , but available qty now only 20 kg and it should be restricted to only 20 kg from batch no 'a001' and balance 10 kg will be taken from another batch , if  it is available  in stock . BUT IN OUR CASE INSTEAD OF TAKING 20 KG FROM BATCH NO. A001 , ENTIRE 30 KG IS TAKING FROM BATCH 'A001'
SO, MY QUERY , ONCE COMPONENT OF A BATCH  IS RESERVED AGAINST PROCESS ORDER , THIS SHOULD  NOT BE ALLOWTED FOR FURTHER RESERVATION AGAINST ANOTHER PROCESS ORDER.
    THANKS

    Hi Dhaval
Thanks a lot for u'r prompt reply.
According to your advice, under scope of check (opjj) for the checking group which are using for checking rule PP, for the field incl.depen.reservations have been chosen X or A
according to requirement. But problem has not been solved. Please let me know the set by step configuration
    Waiting for u'r reply.....

  • Batch management & process Order

    hi gurus !!!
can we have qty divided in two batch numbers against same process order ??

    Hi Kaushik,
You need to define Batch Strategy with number of splits "2", so that system will allow 2 splits for a component while Batch determination.
This is a defination basically for a combination of condition type and access sequence.
    Hope this helps...
Note during automatic batch determination, if sufficient stocks of a single batch is existing, system default uses only one batch.
