Reset a Lightweight AP
Hi
I have a WLC4402-12 which I have installed perfectly with no issues. I have also configured 2nos AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9 Access points without any issues.
I have 8 more LWAPP's of the same type which have had their configs locked because they have moved across networks. The default password has not been changed.
I have tried connecting via the console port of the AP,
I have Document ID 99763 which shows how to go about resetting the config; however, when I try connecting via Hyperterminal (9600, 8, none, 1, none), I cannot get any response from the LWAPP. I have tried changing ports, speed settings, but cannot connect at all.
I do not want to convert it to Autonomous mode...
Any ideas ?
Regards
fernvits
Yup, have toggled all settings in Hyperterminal..
Only thing left is to try another machine with a physical COM port as my laptop has no COM ports, but am using a USB to Serial Converter.....which works fine when connecting to other cisco devices via the same cable....

Wireless ap default factory setting
hi! has anyone successfully resetting an light weight 1130 AP to the factory settings? I tried the method described in the doc for 1130 on how to reset 1130 AP to the default settings, but it was not successful. I tried shutdown the AP, and plug in the power while press and holding the Mode button for about 3 seconds.
This AP has lost it association with the WLC, is there anyway i can reset the AP to factory default and put in the correct IP address again?
Thx.Here are the steps to reset a lightweight access point to factory defaults:
- Unplug the access point from the network.
- Perform a power cycle.
- When the IOS is load login to the access point (default password: Cisco)
- Run the following command: Show flash
(output example)
14 drwx 320 Mar 2 2002 03:14:32 +00:00 c1130-rcvk9w8-tar.123-11JX1
4 drwx 256 Jan 20 2006 20:38:02 +00:00 c1130-k9w8-mx.123-7.JX2
12 -rwx 525184 Mar 1 2002 00:00:32 +00:00 r1.rcore
9 -rw 5777 Mar 7 2002 17:51:52 +00:00 login.html
10 -rwx 1784 Mar 1 2002 23:21:56 +00:00 config.txt
13 -rwx 5 Mar 1 2002 23:21:56 +00:00 private-config
If you see the following image (this is an example, just look at the rcvk9w8):
c1130-rcvk9w8-tar.123-11JX1 (rcvk9w8 --> this is the lightweight image and you should keep it).
Erase all other images by running the following command:
delete /recursive flash:
Per example:
delete /recursive flash:c1130-k9w8-mx.123-7.JX2
Now we need to erase the private-config (where the IP of the access point and of the controller is saved) using the following command:
AP1130#clear lwapp private-config
Now you can configure the access point statically and enter the IP address of the new controller if you want:
AP#lwapp ap hostname AP1130
AP1130#lwapp ap ip address 10.77.244.199 255.255.255.224
AP1130#lwapp ap ip default-gateway 10.77.244.220
AP1130#lwapp ap controller ip address 172.16.1.50
Note: Depending on the lightweight version of software that you are running you might need to use capwap instead of lwapp
Now the access point should be able to join the controller.
Here is a link that explains the last part of this procedure:

So supposing I have a LAP that I move from one WLC to another WLC on a different subnet. I reset this very same AP to factory settings using the mode button, when I attempt to join to the 2nd WLC I have issues with the AP retaining its previous IP settings, if this is the case is my only recourse to manually configure the LAP with the following commands?
AP#lwapp ap ip address <IP address> <Subnet Mask>
AP#lwapp ap ip default-gateway <IP-address>
AP#lwapp ap controller ip address <IP-address>
Shouldnt the reset from the mode button have cleared it to the point where I have a factory-default AP?Hi Rene,
I'm not sure if this is described as a "best practice" but for us it is. There are numerous reasons that the setting of a Username/Password on an LWAPP AP becomes a valuable step in the configuration process;
Resetting the LWAPP Configuration on a Lightweight AP (LAP)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_tech_note09186a00808e2d27.shtml
Deleting the LWAPP Configuration File to Redeploy the AP
When you redeploy an access point after moving it from one location to another, you must first delete the LWAPP configuration file and restore the access point to the factory default settings. Deleting the LWAPP configuration enables the commands on the access point console to configure the static IP address on the access point, the IP address on the controller, the access point hostname, and the default gateway IP address.
To delete the LWAPP configuration and restore the factory defaults, enter the following command in EXEC mode on the access point console:
clear lwapp private-config
The clear lwapp private-config command becomes available on the access point console after the controller pushes a new username and password to the access point.

Does the WCS automatically reset radios?
I have a WCS, four 5508 controllers, Cisco 3750X switches, and both autonomous Cisco 1200, and LightWeight 3502i in service.
The problems I am having, is that some of my Access Point reset for no apparent reason, and I get alerted by my NMS.
When I look at the switch port, that connects an access point that reported down, I see the POE switch port went down and back up in 4 seconds, just long enough for the access point to reset.
There are no errors on the switch port(s). No cable or speed/duplex issues. Switch IOS: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.se1
There are no other pertinent entries in the switch log. Just that the port went down and then back up. Always in 4 seconds.
When a reset happens the WCS reports on the access point:
'802.11/b/g/n' interface of AP associated to controller 172.20.0.x is down. Reason: Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported
But nothing else, except that the radio came back up.
This is happening two or three times a day, and rotates. It seems that it never happens at the same time of the day, or the same access point, or the same switch. (I have over 1000 access points and 500 switches in service)
I am curious if the WCS is automatically resetting the access point radios, which is causing the switch port to go down/up?
And if so, is it possible to turn off the automatic reset?
Any suggestions on what I can do to find out what is causing this would be greatly appreciated.
//CraigHello,
I have exactly the same logs on a AIR-LAP1262N associated to a controller running 7.0.220.0. I was able to collect some logs directly from the AP. Here are they :

I checked on release notes and it appears they are some conditions making radio interfaces to crash but I'm not sure what the conditions are...
Any feedback on this problem would be much appreciated !

1130AG Lightweight IOS V12.(7)JX - static ip on it can't removed
Hi there - I'm stuck on this problem... my 1130AG lightweight access point has and static ip address on fa0
AP0007.0e5f.f430#show ip int brie
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
FastEthernet0 10.40.0.1 YES other up down
I want to clear the ip address so I can put it on the network and have my WLC find it. I tried everything with no success. I read the clear command, but it doesn't give me the option that some cisco documents have. does anyone know how to clear that address?
Thanks!!!Hi Mauricio,
Have you tried this method?
Clearing Manually Entered Controller Information
When you need to move your access point to a different location in your network, you must clear the manually entered controller information to allow your access point to associate with a different controller.
Note This command requires the controller-configured Enable password to enter the CLI EXEC mode.
To clear or remove the manually entered controller information, you can use these EXEC mode CLI commands:
clear lwapp ap ip address
clear lwapp ip default-gateway
clear lwapp controller ip address
clear lwapp ap hostname
Manually Resetting the Access Point to Defaults
You can manually reset your access point to default settings using this EXEC mode CLI command:
clear lwapp private-config
Note This command requires the controller-configured Enable password to enter the CLI EXEC mode.

Hi,
I am currently installing a WLC and have installed the APs. The customer now wants that the APs will haev statuc IP. Is there another way of assigning static IP on lightweight AP other than connecting manually thru the console port of the AP?
In the initial configuration of the WLC, there is a question (allow static ip -- yes/no). If my answer is yes, will I be able to assign static ip on the AP
The reason is that all APs have been installed and it would take some time to remove all the APs.
If answering yes to "allow static ip" will allow me to assign static IP on the APs, it will be easier to reset the WLC to factory default,
I was thinking to make a temporary pool of ip in the WLC and once the APs join, I can assign static ip on the APs.
Please advisehi,
WLC and APs are in the same subnet (default vlan). WLC and APs are not yet operational. I will just connect the WLC to the switch were the APs are connected and let the APs join then assign static IP. All I have to do is to check the "static ip" checkbox in the AP details and put in the ip, subnet and gateway? -
Error while resetting a cleared document
Hi everyone,
I am getting an error while resetting a cleared invoicing document 'Document xxxxxxxxxxx with origin R4 can not be reversed'. Please guide me how can we reset the clearing of this document.
Thanks and RegardsHi,
You need to reset all clearing for the corresponding FICA document for the print document.
Reset the clearing for the document no. mentioned in the output for EA13 execution.
You need to reset all the clearing for the document, before reversing the same.
To get all the clearing document, go to DFKKOP table, enter the FICA document no. (for the print document on FPL9). Get all AUGBL documents,
Alternatively, you can go on to FPL9 screen, double click on the consumption document, in the basic data you will see the clearing date (if it is cleared), expand the view their (click on + sign), you will se the clearing document no,
Pass the above clearing document no, to FP07, and once all the clearing is reset for the invoice, you can reverse the corresponding invoice through EA13.

Global data getting reset when running under IIS?
We have a scenario using IIS with an ASP.NET web service written in VB.NET. When a call to the web service is made, the web service calls a native dll (written in C, compiled using VS2010) using platform invoke, which in turn calls into our product API:
VB.NET web service -> native library (p/invoke) -> native API ....
Web service requests are successfully completed and the system runs without problem for hours. A trace of the native API shows it is being called by multiple processes and multiple threads within those processes.
The main native API dll contains a static global variable used to detect whether it is the first time it has been called and run initialization logic if it is. This dll is itself linked to a second dll that contains a global variable used to detect if it is
the first time it has been called.
After some hours the trace shows that the native API is invoked by an existing process but that the initialization logic is being exercised again, even though the global variable was set to indicate not first time and is never reset. One theory was that
the first process has ended and a new process has started almost instantaneously using the same process ID. However this is not the case as existing thread IDs from the same process are seen to write to the trace again after the first time logic has executed
for the second time, indicating the process has not restarted. The problem occurs regularly.
It is as though the process's global data has been initialized again and malloc'ed memory freed while the processing is still running. Is there any way this is possible when running under IIS?
There is an internal thread which waits on a blocking read of a named pipe (via ReadFile), and when the problem occurs, the ReadFile call ends with ERROR_NO_ACCESS, which appears to indicate the malloc'ed buffer is no longer valid, again implying something
has happened to the memory allocated to the process.Suggestting you asking it on:

I've just found that three movies I've bought from iTunes on on my iPad are not showing up on Apple TV or anywhere other than that iPad. What's up with that and will I lose these films if I reset this iPad?
Thanks. The reason this has become an issue is that I recently bought a new Macbook Air that the iPad is not synced to. The one is was synced to was stolen. If I want to sync this iPad to the new Air, won't it be wiped before I'm able to copy these films or am I wrong about that?

There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Judy's iPhone 4". The network connection was reset.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.
I am trying to update the iPhone for my grandmother, Judy, as I am leaving for Paris on Wednesday night and we want to have Facetime installed on her iPhone before then, so we can stay in contact with each other. It is the simplest way for this to happen but the program simply will not allow me to update her iPhone.
Is there any way to get past this error and update her iPhone? Any help will be greatly appreciated.Dear Jody..jone5

Reset Cleared Documents and Vendor Open Items Report FBL1N
Hi all,
I have following scenario:
- In last month, we had 2 documents (invoice and payment) cleared against each other. We created open items report as well as open items correspondence sent to Vendor. Obviously, the docs were not included in report.
- In this month, we have reset and reverse clearing document of the documents. We create report again with the open key date as in last month. It should not include the 2 docs but it did with whichever key date we chose.
Is there any setting that open item report doesn't include cleared item at the key date when we run report for previous month?
Thanks and Regards,
DauHi Dau,
If i understand you correctly then you posted and paid invoice in Jan 2012 and generated the open line item report for Jan which correctly did not include this cleared invoice.
Now in Feb 2012 you reset and reversed this payment document.
The issue is when you execute the report FBL1N again then you get the open line item for this invoice correct. Please confirm what is the open item key date that you are using here for generating this report
If you keep it 31.01.2012 then definetly this invoice should not appear in the report but if you keep that 29.12.2012 then this line item would for sure appear.
The importance of key date is to limit the report to certain date. The system selects all items posted up to and including the specified key date and open for this period.
so I think your issue is with the key date.
Hope this helps you.

Hi all,
I have a 32gig iPhone4 that I purchased second hand. Recently I knocked it into the toilet...I turned it off straight away, left it to dry.
After 5 days drying I gave it a full charge, turned it on and the display was all sketchy. I've kept trying with it, realised that the display would function fine at times so have I put it in recovery mode, factory reset it and managed to get it out of recovery mode.
I'm back at a fresh start, however when trying to activate the handset via iTunes I keep getting the same error....'0xE8000004'
Can anyone shed any light on this error and how I can get this phone back up and running?
Thanks you in advanceYes i've tried pretty much all of them steps, only thing I cannot try is another computer but to be honest I cant see any real reason it being my laptops fault as its been fine since day dot.
Not really sure which step to take next to be honest...any suggestions appreciated! -

I reset my cellular data usage every month at the beginning of my billing period so that I can keep track of how much data I am using thru out the month. I do not have the unlimited data plan and have gone over a few times. It's usually the last couple days of my billing cycle and I am charged $10 for an extra gig which I barely use 10% of before my usage is restarted for new billing cycle. FYI, they do not carry the remainder of the unused gig that you purchase for $10 which I disagree with. But have accepted. Lol Moving on.
I have two questions. One possibly being answered by the other. 1. Is cellular data used when I sync to iTunes on my home computer to load songs onto my iPhone from my iTunes library(songs that already exist)? 2. What causes the cellular data usage readings in iPhone settings/general/usage/cellular usage to decrease if my last reset has not changed? It is close to end of my billing cycle and I have been keeping close eye. Earlier today it read around 180mb sent/1.2gb received. Now it reads 90mb sent/980 mb recieved. My last reset date reads the same as before. I don't know if my sync and music management had anything to do with the decrease but i didn't notice the decrease until after I had connected to iTunes and loaded music. I should also mention that a 700mb app automatically loaded itself to my phone during the sync process. Is cellular data used at all during any kind of sync /iPhone/iTunes management? Is the cellular data usage reading under iPhone settings a reliable source to keep track of monthly data usage? Guess turned out to be more than two questions but all related. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me. It is information I find valuable. Sorry for the book long question. Is cellular data used at all during any kind of sync /iPhone/iTunes management? Is the cellular data usage reading under iPhone settings a reliable source to keep track of monthly data usage?
1) No.
2) It does provide an estimated usage, but it's not accurate. For accurate determination, you should check the remaining/used MBs from the carrier (most of the carriers provide this service for free).

My Mac Pro 1.1 would not start, the power light would blink continuously. I read a previous post about reseating ram which I did without any change. I read on another forum that the blinking power is due a start up ram check that has found a problem
