Reset BIOS on Dell Latitude E6410

We have 10 of these machines that were used in a non-profit educational project where the BIOS password was changed by students who then left.
We tried removing the CMOS battery (coin battery) but that makes no difference, other than bumping the date back to 2011. The BIOS setup is still locked, and you can't even change the date without a password.
Any other suggestions?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/07/21/hack-connected-car-raises-alarm-over-driver-safety/304...There are a number of things that bug me about this:
1. Almost every network device I've seen to flash the firmware you have to have a direct tie into the device to do the update. Unless it's like a home router where you click browse and select a new software.
2. Who thought remote flashing of firmware of something like this was wise? Granted doing it direct is a bit annoying, but I would say is more secure. Unless you have some sort of a central management system flashing something is going to reset it to factory, and allow hacker to do whatever they want. I think flashing something like this should only be done by authorized shops and they would have to have some sort of an electronic card to authenticate then plug in the ODBC2 port...

  • Dell Latitude E6410 Laptop for PPCC editing?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Dell Latitude E6410 Laptop for mobile editing when I travel.  My question is would it be sufficient to use for editing on PPCC?  It will have an Intel Core I5 processor and 8gb of RAM.

I've personally used a e6410 with Premiere Pro CS5 with 8GB of RAM and while it does "run" Premiere Pro, it is FAR away from what I would deem a good laptop for Premiere Pro. This model is years old and the newer models do several things that help with Adobe a lot: take more RAM (16GB is much better than 8GB for PPro), drives are faster (SSDs much more common, my e6410 had a 256GB SSD and not many did back when this model was born 4 yrs ago), and as Bill already pointed out much more cable 22nm die quad core CPUs with hyperthreading (so, 8 cores available to PPro for editing).
You do not mention your workflow, but obviously editing DV would be much more acceptable on marginal hardware than trying to edit AVCHD or GoPro 4k!
I would expect a used e6410 to be worth about $250 today (street price). I really don't know why you would buy one now really? You can buy a sub-$1000 Asus and with a few modifications put together a really good "new" laptop so that may be a better option for you today.

  • Dell Latitude E6410 Blank Screen

I have Arch installed on an external USB drive. It works fine on two different laptops using ATI cards and using the generic ati driver. Now I'm trying it on a Dell Latitude E6410 which has an nVidia card (NVS 3100M). At first I had both the generic ati and the vesa drivers installed. With just these two, X started, but it was simply a bunch of colored pixels randomly assorted. Using the generic xf86-video-nv yielded an error and X wouldn't start. Using nouveau I got a little closer, except rather than not starting or displaying strange color assortments, the screen simply seemed to either go black or turn off. I've looked around and apparently nouveau does work with this graphics card, but I'm not sure why it isn't right now.

nickramos wrote:Ok, I did get it to work on the laptop using nouveau, but only by adding configuration options to xorg.
But now, because of this, my ATI computers won't load X. Is there any way to make it so that the correct driver is loaded depending on the machine being used?
That's the hard part. That's what I was talking about.
Of course you can manually switch the configs  and reboot.
You need to hack initscripts or sth like that

Dell's Latitude now looks very similar with the HP Elitebook. Quality wise, i am not sure if it is better or worse than new Thinkpads or Elitebooks.
Lenovo Thinkpad is priced extremely competitively in North America, which is at a detriment to the consumers in other parts of world.

  • Poor PXI IO performance on Latitude E6410 with ExpressCard 8360

    Hello,
I have a Dell Latitude E6410 with a Core-i5 M520 which is giving me very poor io performance when using an ExpressCard 8360 card to connect to a PXI Rack.
The sustained IO rate that I can get appears to be about 1/3 of that that I can get using the same ExpressCard on a Dell Latitude E6400 (with a Core2Duo processor).
I am using the A05 bios (latest at time of writing) on the E6410.
    Wade.

I am running Windows XP (32 bit) sp3 in both cases.
The E6410 has 4GByte of memory fitted.
The E6400 has 2GByte of memory fitted.
I have also use the same ExpressCard 8360 via a PXIe to ExpressCard Adaptor in a Desktop machine with similar performance figures to the E6400 - i.e. much better than the E6410.
The Desktop Machine is an HP Compaq D7900 with 4GByte of memory, Core2Duo E8500 also running Windows XP sp3 (32 bit).
Also, on the Desktop, I am running NI PXI Platform Services 2.3.2 and NI-Visa runtime version 4.3.
On the E6410, I am running NI PXI Platform Services 2.5.2 and NI-Visa runtime version 4.6.
I no longer have access to the E6400 so I am not sure what sofware versions were installed. However, they are unlikely to be new than the versions installed on the E6410.

  • I cant download all my iPhone photos onto my Dell Latitude laptop. I get the impression that Apple are trying to force me to buy iCloud space in order for me to do this. If so then I'm done with Apple products. I would rather buy a Samsung in the fut

If you cant read what I've written above then your system is just pathetic. At my age, I don't need to be instructed on "how to write a good question". Why must a brief detailed  technical question be summarized? Why cant I do the supposedly simple task of downloading "all" of my photos from my 64g iPhone 5s onto my Dell Latitude E6410 laptop in one simple press of the button process? Instead my Laptop is always trying to download mega gigabytes of all my laptop photos onto my iPhone. I am now totally convinced that the Apple Corporation has implemented a scheme trying to "force" me, and every other Apple customer, to buy more iCloud storage instead of allowing us the cheaper option of storing our own photos on our own lap tops and our own external hard drives. If this is the case then Apples tactics are back-firing, and I for one, will never buy another complicated, user-unfriendly, rotten capitalistic Apple product again. If there is a simple way of downloading all of my photos onto my laptop in one simple move then why cant it "simply" show you how to do it, like all the other companies smart phones do? From one **** of an irate customer. K.I.S.S. or lose customers. Don't try to rip us off financially, with devious money making schemes, the general public will respond accordingly and you WILL lose market share.

Go buy a Samsung if its suits you better then and don't be rude these are user forums !
Give Google more information about you what you do where you are etc....... TO TARGET adverts at YOU via Android at the same time.
Or whats wrong with the FREE photo stream conduit that over air transfers images to your pc pictures folder (And you don't need to buy any extra storage ever) the images just transfer !
Also what is so difficult with plugging in to a USB socket and having images automatically uploaded/downloaded into your Pictures folder ?
Unless of course your PC USB is a slow 1.1 socket !
True the sync process is all encompassing rather then delta but it does mean true syncing

  • Trying to image a Dell Latitude D630

I am trying to image a Dell Latitude D630 laptop using PXE. It is set to PXE

Output starts running on the screen as normal then all the sudden the screen
goes black and nothing else happens. I have to end up powering off the

I saw a previous post where someone was having the problem and suggeted
toggling between CRT and LCD display on the laptop but this does nothing.
We are running Zen 6.5 SP2.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the help Marcus.
I tried adding the two lines but it did not work. I was finally able to
resolve my issue but using the Zen 7 SP1 Boot CD along with TID 3421576 to
get the laptop imaged. It looks like it is time to upgrade my Zenworks!

  • CS4 and Dell Latitude D820

    CS4 and Dell Latitude D820
Just wondering if anyone has the same Laptop model as myself and is running Photoshop CS4 on it with no problems?
With so much being said about differing configurations playing a part in CS4s performance, and with laptops offering perhaps the most uniformity in terms of hardware makeup across any two units, I thought it might be illuminating if we could find two systems of the same model and specs where one (i.e mine) has serious problems with Photoshop v11 and one (somewhere among you fine folk) that does not?
Obviously manufacture batch numbers could vary but, apart from that, Im thinking any hardware variables here should be at their most minimal? We could then begin to establish (perhaps) what other than hardware it might be that sees one system working fine and the other not?
For problems experienced on my Laptop system please System Setup 4 on
    this page.
Would be interested to hear from any Latitude D820 users who are not experiencing these problems.

    NB.
    Re the Display driver.
I contacted both nVidia and Dell. Nvidia refers me to Dell as sole provider of driver.
Email reply from Dell tech support (on my asking for any news on new driver):
"I would like to bring it under your notice that I do not have sufficient update to provide you on the shortly available Drivers of new version".
I did speak with a Dell engineer who tells me: Dell can only package and release any new driver as and when updated drivers are provided by Nvidia.

Well basically its not the problem with the Routers firmware. It might be due higher level of security which you have set on your Router or it might be your Intel Pro Wireless is unable to communicate with your Router. In this case you need to lower down the security on your router to WEP or WPA Persoanl . If you have already lower down the security on your Router then it might be your Intel Pro Utility which is unable to communicate with your wireless network. In this case you need to disable Intel Pro wireless utility on your Computer and use Default Windows XP configuration utility to connect to your wireless network.
Opene Intel Pro-Set wireless utility on your Computer, On the top you need to click on "Tools" tab and below you will find the Option "Use Windows to Manage WiFi" or "Use Microsoft Client" and click on Yes. So it will disable the Intel Utility.
Now in the system try Locate your "Wireless Network Connection" icon, right click on it and select "View Available Wireless Network" , locate your wireless network, input the security and click on connect. Now check if you are able to go online.

  • MSI GE70 Reset BIOS?

I stupidly disable my onboard graphic card via BIOS and also change the primary graphics to PCIE (because I am unable to install new driver for the GTX765m, and have it undetected in Device Manager after I uninstalled its driver, so the laptop only detected the Intel HD 4600).
Now after I made such changes in ghe BIOS, when I boot my pc, it goes black, I cannot see anything from the screen and hence I cannot go to the BIOS again to make changes.
I'd like to reset the BIOS settings bavk to default but don't really know how to. I've done some research and come up with some possible solutions: reset CMOS by removing and putting the battery back, moving the jumpers, pressing the CMOS reset button or reset the EC...
Tomorrow I'll bring my laptop to a warranty shop in my country, since I have a global warranty rights for 1 year, but it's not in the US and I think it's better if I bring them some possible ideas, because the model is pretty new and they may not have enough information.
Please provide me some possible solutions on how resetting the BIOS of GE70-2OE laptop.
Thanks and sorry for my English.

You could try various ways to clear the bios, but the best way is to remove the battery, open the bottom up, remove the CMOS battery, and wait 5 minutes. That should completely reset the BIOS in every way.....if you're lucky.
This will not reset BIOS settings. The only way is to either flash new BIOS (blindly) or change settings in blind way (manually each setting or just load Optimzed defaults).
Quote from: klover on 28-November-13, 03:21:01
Problem is I can't see anything as the screen is completely black so whether I constantly press Del button or not, the screen is black still.
That is why it is called "blind". You will never see anything on the screen until you reset settings. Have you heard Windows' sounds?
If you want to insure that the only problem is GPU settings here (as I think so) then Power off your laptop holding power button and then just power on again. And wait... oloong time because it will scan partition because you turned off before with a power button. In 3-10 minutes it should load OS and you hear sounds.
Anyway I tell this last time. To select default settings you may need to do:
    1. Press DEL and hope that you are in BIOS already
    2. Press RIGHT 4 times and hope that you are in Save & Exit Menu.
    NOW EITHER THIS:
    3. Press F9 and Enter.
    OR THIS:
    3. Press DOWN 2 times and hope that you are on Load Setup Defaults.
    4. Press Enter 2 times to select it.
THEN I DON'T KNOW IF IT REBOOTS IMMEDIATELY OR YOU NEED TO SELECT SAVE CHANGES AND RESET.
This is why you better ask for proper key combination from owner of MSI GE 2013 model or even any MSI 2012-2013 year who will reset his BIOS to defaults for you and writes it or record a video of what button to select.
My key combo was based on GE 2012 series BUT I DON'T KNOW YOUR CURRENT UNLOCKED BIOS and if there are any unlocked settings in Save & Exit Menu (it doesn't affect if you use F9 method) or if there is unlocked CHIPSET Menu which affects how many time to press RIGHT after DEL button (additional 1).

  • DAQCard-6036E on DELL Latitude

CWBufferedAO.zip VB program downloaded from "Buffered Analog Output" in KB stops after it run for 5 to 30 minutes on DELL Latitude V740 with Win2000 and NIDAQ 6.9.3. "STOP" means both "Update count" and "Chart" are
not updated. This program runs on Toshiba and Sharp note PC over hours. Is there anyone experienced this kind of trouble?
    Attachments:
    CWBufferedAO.zip ‏5 KB

As long as Fan in Inspiron-2600 works, similar program runs over a night. Sometimes it runs on Latitude V740 for 3 hours.
Our Latitude V740 was shipped with BIOS A06 which makes Fans not running under Win2000 in most time. In this situation, only DA (Analog out) is stopped in 5 to 30 minutes although AD (Analog In) is always working. Nidaq32.sys may stop DA (not jumping to Progress routine) when the power save mode of Latitude becomes active and Fans do not run.
Finally BIOS was replaced from A06 to A07 thelatest version and Intel Speedstep was cancelled. Then programs has run over a night. This solution was adviced by your local staff in Japan yesterday.

  • Change RAID to AHCI on Dell Latitude E6530

I've replace the internal drive in my Dell Latitude E6530 laptop with an SSD.  The BIOS was set to RAID and I didn't realize I needed to set it to ACHI before installing everything.  Well, I've installed the OS (64 bit Windows 7 Pro), my apps,
and have moved my documents over.  It sounds like the best course of action is to backup everything (again), and then re-install the OS, the apps, and restore my files.
Well, I'm trying to avoid that.  I read the support issue at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976?wa=wsignin1.0 and I ran the "fix it", but when I restarted, went into BIOS, changed to ACHI, then rebooted, Windows 7 still blue screened.  I went back into the BISO and changed back to RAID and
then rebooted, and I verified that the Msahci and IastorV subkeys are set correctly, but my machine still blue screens when I have the BIOS set to use ACHI.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • ITunes has stopped working error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  Why?!

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer.  iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups.  It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me".  Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do?  Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users..
