Reset english dictionary on Nokia 6610i

Hi,
I use the Nokia 6610i phone. Following is the output of *#0000# :
v 4.10
08-10-04
RM-37
I've added some words and some other punctuations to the dictionary which are now getting in the way. I want to completely remove them and start out with a fresh "factory" like english predictive text input dictionary.
How do I do that? I tried using the Settings -> Restore factory settings menu option, but it does not reset the dictionary and remove the extra words/punctuations.
Thanks a lot!
Rohan.

Hello all,
You've read the title. Now why is the translations in Chinese? How can I convert them to English? Can anybody here help me?
Quite unpleasing for other regions, but still not possible unless Nokia release an English definition pack for it.
Why not get a mobile java dictionary instead? There are many of those, just google it.

  • My US english dictionary for the system-wide spellcheck has died

At some point in the past few days I noticed that my spelling had gotten a lot more accurate... or so I thought. Actually, what happened is, for some reason, whenever I choose ordinary US English as my dictionary for the spell checker, it thinks that every word is spelled right. This isn't an UBER problem because there is the UK dictionary too... but I would still like to fix my US English dictionary so that I don't have to spell colour wrong.
I wouldn't mind just resetting all of the dictionaries, I just don't see a place to do that.

If the language is set ithe paragraph style, that's where it needs to be changed. If it's local formatting override you can use Find/Change to change the exixiting text all at once, but that won't change the style definition. A global definition change might be possible via script. Ask over in InDesign Scripting

  • Can't reset keyboard dictionary

Hi.  I'm trying to reset the iPhone 4S' iOS 5.0.1 keyboard dictionary, but the instructions all over the 'Net don't work for me.  I go in to Setting > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary and complete the process, but it doesn't seem to have an effect.  For example, I often abbreviate tomorrow with tmrw and I told me phone to learn tmrw.  I remember the first time I typed it, I told the phone to learn it.  But after doing the keyboard reset and I type tmrw, it still recognizes it.  It's supposed to NOT recognize the abbreviation after the reset.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks.

I have the same issue.  Dozens of incorrect words in my dictionary and of course they are for the most common words I type.  Resetting the keyboard does nothing.  Resetting the entire phone does nothing.  Erasing the entire phone does nothing.
Just this morning I figured out 'something' of a fix.  I'm sure the issue remains where the keyboard is building up illegitimate words but my solution has given me a fresh start.
I simply added the ENGLISH UK keyboard and deleted the standard ENGLISH keyboard. I did this in:
    SETTING>GENERAL>KEYBOARD>INTERNATIONAL KEYBOARDS
I then deleted the US keyboard.
This seems to have gotten rid of my problem words.  Thank God.  sbout (about) and sonethigb (something) were pushing me toward throwing the phone against the wall.
Looks like this has provided some level of 'fix' for me.  I'm going to text very gingerly here for the first few weeks and do my best not to accidentally proceed with non-words.  I figure this keyboard dictionary still will save every word that comes into it and be unable to reset so I figure I'm kicking the proverbial can down the road but hey, at least it's a fresh start...

  • 5300 Chinese English Dictionary Upgrade 5.0 Proble...

After I upgraded Nokia 5300 to 5.0 firmware my Chinese/English dictionary will no longer work.
I tried downloading the dictionary from Nokia again and moving it back onto the phone as the directions explain. However, I still receive a message about the format not being able to be read.
I have seen many other posts with other people having the same problem as myself. Unfortunately, there has been no response from Nokia or solutions from users yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • How can I integrate add-ons into a PDF (Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox), such as Babylon English Dictionary?

How can I integrate the Fox add-ons into a PDF (Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox), such as Babylon English Dictionary? Many PDF do support my add-ons. BTW, the PDF in question is one that I have uploaded to my web site.

Babylon would need to support Adobe Acrobat for that to happen.

  • "Offive" in the user dictionary and I can't remove it even after reset the dictionary

    Hi all,
I found that I have a word "Offive" in my user dictionary.
I tried to remove it by resetting the keyboard / dictionary; however, the word "Offive" is still there immediately after I reset the dictionary.
I searched for the word "Offive" in my contacts and calendars.  And, there are no such occurence.
Interesting, the word "Offive" only appears in my iPhone; I have an iPad2, but the word "offive" isn't shown in the iPad at all.
Do you know how iOS user dictionary added this word "Offive" automatically?
When I typed "Offibe", iOS would automatically change it to "Offive" and then informed it's a misspell and I then changed it to "office" by clicking the word "Offive".  This is clumsy.
    Thanks,
    Ting Pong

It wouldn't have been added automatically.  Words are added to the dictionary when you decline autocorrect suggestions.  You just have typed "offive" and then tapped the '"x" to decline the autocorrect suggestion "office" at some point, probably by mistake.

  • English dictionary has disappeared with mountain lion (a complaint from Spain)

    Hi,
I'm a Spanish Mac user and was a fond user of the excellent built-in English dictionary that came with Lion and with former operating systems. A couple of days ago I installed the new Mountain Lion and noticed that the former English dictionary had been replaced by a school-level Spanish dictionary. I felt betrayed and dumped, as I encountered no warning during installation that this was going to happen. And of course the Mountain Lion reviews I had read in the past weeks did not mention this problem, as it does not affect users from English-speaking countries. Has anyone experienced the same problem? What can I do? I have tried to recover and install a former version of the Dictionary app, but I haven't succeeded yet.
Besides, since I installed Mountain Lion Mail has become so slow that I now prefer checking email on the website. The connection between Mail and the new Address Book (now called Contacts) is also incredibly slow. In sum: the bunch of new iPad-inspired applications that are included in Mountain Lion definitely come with too many disadvantages. Sincerely, I wouldn't recommend to install it, unless these inconveniences are solved. Please, Apple, solve them quickly. This is just a disgrace.
    Best,
    Marta

That is not the case for any standard installation.  Everyone should have all the old dictionaries, plus Spanish, German, and Chinese.
Have you gone to the Preferences of Dictionary.app and made sure all the boxes are checked?

  • Firmware upgrade on Nokia 6610i

    Hi,
I own a Nokia 6610i. I did *#0000# on the phone and I get this output:
    v 4.10
    08-10-04
    RM-37
Now is there a way to check if that is the latest firmware? Seems that this phone is too old for the Nokia Software Updater
Some sites on the net report that v 4.50 is the latest firmware for this phone. Is that true?
If yes, can I go to a Nokia Care center to have my phone updated, or is the phone so old that they'll just laugh at me? Would they charge me, or are firmware upgrades free?
The phone actually works perfectly fine, but I like having newest versions of software That being said, is there a list of changes between the various versions of Nokia 6610i firmware?
    Thanks a lot!
    Rohan.

Thank you so much, korngear. Would you know if there is a list of changes somewhere? I don't think it's really worth paying for the upgrade if there only a few minor tweaks
