Reset gradient size/position in AI CC

I'm not sure if I've missed a setting or gradients are behaving differently in AI CC.
After filling a shape with a gradient fill and then modifying it's angle/position/size with the Gradient Tool (G)... then going to create a new shape, I want to reset the gradient back to the default angle/position/size. Usually I'd just click/double-click on the gradient I was using in the Swatches panel and it would reset. However this isn't working anymore.
I was wondering if I've missed a setting to make this possible or there is a new way to do this? Any ideas?

Works same way in CS5 as you described. But to answer your question fill with a non-gradeint swatch (temporarily) to clear the gradient tool positions, then fill with your final gradeint fill.
This is easier to follow if you view >> show gradient annotator while doing this.

however it doesn't address my issue.
For me, anytime I open a software, position it, play around in it and then close it, and reopen it again, it never goes back to the size/position I set it to. Same with Outlook. When I open a new email window, set its size and position, the next new email
window is never where it needs to be.
Is there a way for windows/outlook to remember where my software windows should be based on a position/size I give it?

You can know that how windows remembers the Window size.
Regarding your outlook issue, you may close outlook then delete the frame key from HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Message\ and restart outlook. This will reset the window to the default size.

RoboHelp won't reset window size

Good Afternoon,
I'm trying to reset the size of the help browser that
displays. I know that this is done through the Window Properties
dialog box. I've reset it multiple times, but it just keeps
displaying in the old size. I even tried to delete the window
properties and then recreate them. Does anyone have any suggestions
on how I can get RoboHelp to apply the new size settings?

Hi Angela
When you are looking at the Window Properties, what do you
see for the option labeled "Remember Window Size and Positon"? (You
find this in the lower left corner of the dialog)
If this setting is enabled, there are only a few ways to
force a change.
1. Before closing the help file, move and size it as you
desire it to open next time.
2. Rename the .CHM file name so Windows registers it as a
different file. For example, MyChm.CHM might change to MyChm1.CHM.
3. You could search and destroy your hh.dat file. I woudn't
recommend this as it could impact other .CHM files in your system.

My Ipad prints to my airprinter that works OK but how do I set picture size/position etc. At the moment from the photos app it prints an A6 photo in top left corner. How do I change that to something different.

If you put photo paper in the printer it will print correctly on the paper. Also, some photo printers will adjust the size photo printed when you put different size photo paper in the tray.

How to reset font size tool to work?

I copied and paste text onto a pic on photoshop and it has completely resized the whole workshop. Everything, now is so small you can see it. I can select 72 pts but then it's just barely large enough to read. What has happened and how do I restore things there way they were?
I have Photoshop 6.

Hw do I reset type size in palette (CS4)?

For some reason or some manipulation I wasn't aware of, my Type palette now displays font size in inches. For instance, if I type in "12 pt" it automatically enters "0.167 in". I have tried resetting the panel, visited Preferences, but can't seem to find a way to change that.
Would anyone know how to reset it to points?

Window size/position

The new iTunes wont remember window size and position. Every time I open it I have to maximize the window. Why wont the program let the user and not Apple set the window size??

I have the same problem....hopefully Apple will address it soon.

Lightbox 2 -size & position of image

By default, the new image opens in the centre of the page and
is cropped to a default size. How can I adjust the code so that it
opens at a specific location and expands to specific size, please?
I want to use the code for single images of same size and to open
always at the same location..

pretty well useless. Although same problem has been posted many
times, the developer and others have not replied.... Apparently,
the developer is TOO BUSY to attend to trivia like replying to
questions about his OWN product. Pretty poor... I say...Not
everyone wants the box to open in the centre of the page..:-((

UPDATE at 16.00gmt. I have played around with the code in the
lightbox.js file. Line 237 has a line :

I have added couple values, which position the image exactly
where I want it. As:

However, I am still looking for the code which gets the
image's dimensions.... Maybe, there is no such a thing, as the
enlarged images are always shown the same size; they are
increased/decreased to the default value...
Any ideas, please?
UPDATE: That's all sorted. But as a result, the 'close' and
'load' images are now showing far, far too big and in wrong
position...

GUI component size/position control

Hi, everyone. I am trying to write a board game in Java. From my previous experience (I wrote a oscilloscope control interface using JFrame last year), most (or all?) of the GUI components (such as buttons and slider) change their sizes and positions automatically, when I used FlowLayout or BoardLayout layout manager. I also tried the BoxLayout layout manager, but it didn't work well.
Are there any way that I can control the size and the position of GUI components? By using a specific layout manager? or are there any way other than using different layout manager?
When I create my board game, I want my buttons to sit on the exact location I want, and appear at the size I want.

Absolute positioning or writing your own layout manager is easier than you think, especially in the case of a board game.
Here is what you can do to use existing java class:
1. extends a JPanel with GridLayout, and overide all methods involving get size and set Size to fixed size. This is your actual game board.
2. use another JPanel with horizontal BoxLayout, add the panel in step 1 first, then add a Horizontal Glue, so in this new Panel, the width of your game board is honored here.
3. use another JPanel with verical BoxLayout, add the panel in step 2 first, then add a vertical glue. The height of the game board is honored here.
4. Both the width and the height are guarantteed to be fixed when the painting area is larger than the actual board.
5.To handle the case where the painting area is smaller than the board, you can use a JScrollPane, or to set the minimum size of the parent container so that it won't happen.

Window size/position and title question

I can't work out how to control the position of my site
within it's window, or the size of the window. I've tried all the
settings in the Publish panel. I'm trying to get the flash stage
(750 x 500) to occupy the centre of a slightly larger window (900 x
600) which opens to that exact size.
I also can't work out how to set the window title to anything
other than index.

Scroll resets to top position

Hi, I am having a weird issue. When I scroll down on a window (in any program) the scroll resets to the top position. If I let go of the mouse or trackpad the scroll goes back to the top position.
I am using 1.6.8 on MacBook
Any suggestions?

I tried this but doesn't work. Also I save the getRangeStart return value before Rollback and tried to set with scrollRange(range) or scrollToRangePage(range) methods after Rollback but nothing changes, the scrollbar resets to the top position. The getCurrentRow and getRangeStart methods return the original values before rollback, but the scrollbar continue moving at the top position of the table...
Any suggestions?

Reset Gradients to full range (CS3)

Here's one that's been nagging me for a while. Supposing you use the Gradient Tool to drag a custom range across an object (perhaps you're using a Radial gradient and want to change the center point to some offset within the circle). Where is this data stored / displayed - i.e.: the x1,y1 and x2,y2 coordinates of the line segment you dragged with the Gradient Tool (its is not in Appearance, nor in Attributes, nor anywhere on the Gradient panel in CS3)?
How, short of removing and reapplying the gradient, can you reset the custom range that you created with the Gradient Tool back to its default which is the bounding box of the object?

Thanks for the responses guys. Jacob, I wish you hadn't edited out your solution because it works as well and it's good to document these things.
Jacob's solution was to select the object, use the "Reset Appearance" option from the Appearance palette's flyout menu and then immediately go to the Gradient palette and apply the gradient it suggests (which will always be the last selected gradient - in this case, the gradient of the object we just cleared).
It's always bugged me (both in Illustrator, and in the Photoshop Gradient Overlay f/x panel) that nowhere does Adobe show the info for the custom range / offset. To answer Jacob's point about that info not being useful - on the contrary, if you're trying to duplicate a particular effect or appearance, it helps to have all the info, particularly in complicated f/x stacks. Besides, if Adobe takes the time to expose those values, there's a good chance then that they would be manually editable or resettable, which was why I was looking for them in the first place.
Note to Adobe - include this in a future release!

I'd like to be able to set the size and position of:

Success/Fail captions
Back, skip, clear, submit buttons etc
Can this be done?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
There's four in my team using CP4 so having a template is helpful to make sure everyone is using the same standards in our projects. We need consistency across the company and the template allows us to achieve this.
I've just been reading more from the help file and it appeas you can only make changes to the object itself. The Size and Position tab you see when you're in a project is missing when you go to change the properties in the Design Template.
One of my team created the template and found these limitations so I thought I'd see if anyone had come across the same "want" and how they might have resolved it.
I think in this case the answer is NO, it can't be done.
