I am going to sell my second generation ipod touch, so i resetted it to factory defaults. It said it would take up to an hour, and i patiently waited. But when the black and white loading bar completed, the ipod went to the black screen with an apple logo on it. Sounds about right, right? But now, there is a processing circle on top of the logo, but the circle spins once, and stops at about halfway to the bottom. It just stays there, and about every half to one hour it becomes a white screen and starts all over again. (not the loading bar part, just the circle). I've tried holding the power and the home button, and it works, but it just goes back to the circle screen with the apple logo. HELP PLEASE?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT201304 If I forgot my password is there any way to remove the restrictions and backup my iPod from the computer? I tried reseting it to factory defaults and then backing it up but it still has the restrictions on.

I'm trying to remove my restrictions, and i reset it to factory default, but everytime i back it up the restrictions are still on. I don't want to have to register as a new ipod and loose everything i've bought and added.

    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - If you are up to it see:

  • Reset 3GS to factory default settings

I need to reset my 3GS iPhone to factory defaults (I will be doing this to five different phones ; does that matter?). Can some one direct me to the spot to do that? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I am a procurement guy. The phones are not mine and the users turned them back in with NO documentation and a claim that all data had been wiped out. I gave two of the phones to my kids (17 & 18) and they found all sorts of pictures and other "data" on a "scrubbed" phone. This is why I asked how to reset to factory settings.

  • How do you Reset iPad to factory defaults

How do you reset an iPad to factory defaults?

Go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • After updating software on IPAD from computer says I have to reset IPAD to factory default and will lose all data???

After updading software on IPAD2 tells me I have to reset to factory default and will lose all data

    Kinda.
Read the following in its entirty before doing anything.
Note that a "Restore" could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • I have a P2035 that is stuck on MANUAL for IP configuration, how can I reset this to factory default

The ip address is set to 0.0.0.0 and I cannot connect to it at all to get to the webportal to reset or change, is there any way to reset to factory default?

Our process would involve the original owner taking or shipping the phone to a technician to be unlocked. However, since it is out of the warranty period, there may be a cost depending on your location. Call us: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/common/contact/phonelist
Others may suggest other options, but of course, we would not reccomend these.

    Thanks!

You will need to do the password recovery as reseting to factory defaults requires to be in enable config mode.

after you recover password then issue the command.

  • How to reset HP2035n to factory default

We changed our lan address from 172.16.1.xxx to 192.168.1.xxx and I need to reset the printer to factory defaults so I can access the web interface

If you power cycle the printer it should automatically query to get a new IP address from the DHCP server upon reboot.  If you are using a static IP address assignment, then you will need to change the static IP configuration in the devices set-up menu.

  • Itunes doesn't see my ipod shuffle and I want to reset it to factory default

I have a 1st gen ipod shuffle, iTunes does not see it but my computer does, I am running windows 7 and I just want to restore the shuffle to factory default

So, I found out how to fix this issue. In "My Computer" right click on the iPod and format it. I chose to format it using FAT and Default allocation size. After that, I opened iTunes and it recognized my iPod Shuffle. It said it wasn't formatted properly but gave me the option to restore it to factory defaults which fixed everything. Way to go Self. Thank you. You're Welcome

  • My iPad 1 is turning off an app and going back to the main screen at odd times.  I've already updated it... to no avail.  Do I need to reset it to factory defaults and reload everything?

It turns off many apps at random times.
Plus, it won't let me go to the next level of Plants and Zombies!  I've played the same level about 15 times... it goes all the way through the level and then cuts out when it is giving me extra points for my lawn mowers.  Then it goes to the main screen... then when I go back into the game... I'm at the beginning of the level all over again!
    No fun!

I'm unsure what you mean but "factory reset" but first try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
