Reset HP Compaq NW8000 BIOS Administrator Password

Hi All,
I have just pulled an old laptop out of storage to use as a home computer, but when I tried to fix the BIOS settings it came up with a Administrator Password that I cannot remember.
No problem I thought I'll try;
Removing the CMOS battery and Security Module and wait 5 mins and try again...no luck...OK.
Removing the CMOS battery and Security Module and wait 30 mins and try again...no luck...OK.
Removing the CMOS battery and Security Module and wait 1 hour and try again...no luck...really...OK.
Removing the CMOS battery and Security Module and wait over 24 hours and try again...no luck...**bleep**!
So I pulled the whole machine apart to find a jumper set on the motherboard and broke the Blue Tooth module in the process...no jumpers and now I have to resolder the module...awesome!
So next I tried the BIOS Password Backdoor hack from http://dogber1.blogspot.com.au/2009/05/table-of-reverse-engineered-bios.html but could not get the 'hash' code to appear...crap.
So I tried the www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd tool...it seemed to work as per the instructions, but then when I went back into the BIOS it asked for an Administrator Password again.
I am fresh out of ideas of what I need to do!
Does anyone know if this particular model has a Master Administrator Password or is there a backdoor entry method I can use?
Thanks in advance!

NW8000.
KNRK is correct.
There could be one thing to look for.
Look under the memory." Remove any plastic that may cover the motherboard."
See if you find anything that looks like this.
If it is there use small flat head screwdriver to short the contacts.
Best of luck.

  • Bios administrator password no code HP Elitebook 8440p

    Hi all,
I am trying to update the BIOS driver for a laptop that I recently purchased from a friend. Unfortunately he doesn't know the BIOS administrator password. When I tried entering various passwords three times, I was just informed that I could not update the driver but I did not receive any error code like other users.
Could anyone please advise how to work around this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I did take time to read the threads posted with a similar heading but they did not provide a solution to this particular scenario where no error code is given.

    Hi,
Unfortunately,  business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support, they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
    Regards,
    DP-K

  • EliteBook 2170p: resetting BIOS administrator password

I purchased a used notebook from ebay and installed Windows 7 on it. I am able to use it just fine. But the BIOS is protected with an administrator password which I can't figure out how to clear. I've tried resetting/reinitting the TPM but that didn't help. Would it reset if I pulled the RTC battery per the service manual? I don't want to open up the laptopand remove parts unless I know this might work. The only reason I would like to reset it is because the Bluetooth is disabled in the BIOS for some reason. thanks is advance!!!

  • Reset BIOS Administrator Password - ProBook 4330s

Hey everyone! I have an HP ProBook 4330s which for some reason has a lock on the BIOS. I can only access a small part of the BIOS, from which I can do pretty much nothing, but I want to be able to change my BIOS so I'd like to get into the Admin account. I have tried installing HP ProtectTools on the computer in order to fix the SpareKey-thing. However, when entering the SpareKey when booting I can only enter the second account and use the SpareKey there (the account where I can't do anything). If I try to press the BIOS Administrator all I get is the message "HP SpareKey not enrolled, press OK to restart the system". I wonder if there are any way(s) to reset this password so I could enter the BIOS.
    Many thanks in advance!

The BIOS for a business class notebook is quite robust. You may have to send it to an HP Service Center or a BIOS company to clear the password.  There are alternative methods, but we don't discuss them in this forum. Try the BIOS mods forums.

  • How to Reset Windows 2008/R2 Domain Administrator Password

How to Reset Windows Server 2008/R2 Domain Administrator password if forgot or lost it?
It is annoying and bad to forget a Windows Server 2008/r2 Domain administrator login password. It is troublesome unless you have that Windows Server 2008/r2 password reset disk. We can still find several tricks to reset Windows Server Domain password but they require a mass of operations and waste a lot of time. For example, you can reset Windows Server 2008/R2 domain administrator password with an installation disk but it requires you to type a mass of command line. So today I want to share everyone an omnipotent method to reset Windows Server 2008/R2 Domain/local administrator password. You need the following 3 things.
    An accessible PC.
    A USB/CD/DVD flash drive.
The Windows password reset tool Daossoft Windows Password Rescuer.
Then it requires 4 steps as below:
Step 1: Download and install Daossoft Windows Password Rescuer into that accessible computer.
Step 2: Burn it to the flash drive.
Step 3: Boot your Windows Server computer from the flash drive.
Step 4: Follow its instruction and click “Reset Password” button to reset your Windows 2008/R2 Domain/Local administrator password.
More details in this video: Windows Server 2008 R2 Password Reset - Reset Domain or Local Password.

It wasn't difficult to reset the domain password and I think Microsoft's policy of not providing an easy forward way is to create an
illusion of security which is not there. Linux systems that are much more secure that MSFT software allow easy password reset when physical access is there so why not include the same tools in System Repair tools or using F8?
Anyhow, this guide helped me reset the password in 5 minutes. Read the bottom of it to find the scripted / automatic version of the process:
