Reset Messages: My confusion or is it a bug?
It seems that when I stop playback, Logic sets CC1 and CC4 (I assume all the other CCs, too) to 0 -- except CC7.
I can stop this behavior by checking the "No Reset" box on that channel, but why do I need to do this when I don't have anything checked off in Preferences:MIDI:Reset Messages?

Yeah, I think it has to be a bug. But I'm surprised I haven't seen any mention of it on the Interweb.
I did try CC1 and it had the same behavior, but now that you mention it, that may have been a bad choice for a second test on this problem. I'm going to try some random CC number.
Automation is no good, because the idea is that these multi-timbral parts should be playable at any time, at any volume according to a volume pedal.
I'm a technical assistant to a working composer -- he and his other composer friends are always working their volume pedals, and recording it in their MIDI regions, and I've learned by watching them that there is no other way. But when you get an instrument like Omnisphere which can kill your system with enough instances, you have to go multi-timbral, and the volume pedal at CC7 becomes a problem. Or in other words, if you make music, you should really be using a volume pedal!
I will try another CC number, but as I mentioned, hitting No Reset -- I think -- will solve the problem. It just seems strange that:
a) there's a whole page of checkmarks in the preferences that do nothing
b) nobody's noticed
and
c) nobody uses a volume pedal (with multi-timbral instruments)

I cannot do anything online because I constantly get the "connection has been reset" message. This has never happened before. I followed instructions on Firefox help page for this message and it only made it worse!
Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
You can get it from here, but you are better off using K-Meleon (derived from Firefox) or Opera instead an old version of Firefox:

You can try KernelEx to get Firefox 3+ to work, but it would be very slow with an old PC of less than 750Mhz. 3.5 and later supposedly doesn't work.

I cannot reach checkout on Amazon. I get a Connection Was Reset message
I cannot reach checkout on Amazon. Nor can I move freely to my Account. I have tried signing in with other names and other email addresses but equally unsuccessfully. I have disabled anti virus (Avast) and Windows Firewall, cleaned cookies etc. I have spent some time with both Amazon and my server (PlusNet) trying to resolve this. It also occurs with Internet Explorer and Safari.
The problem lies within my own computer but doesn't seem to effect any other site than Amazon. The Connection Reset message does occur frequently, whether this is normal or not I do not know, but when retried usually goes away when surfing elsewhere
I can access Amazon using a neighbour's computer.Thank you brinda. I hav eread the article you mention and have again cleared both cache and cookies but to no avail. I am still getting a "The connection was reset" message. Amazon tell me that he fault is with me rather than at their end as otherwise I would not be able to log in on a neighbour's computer.

Cant open iTunes store 'NETWORK RESET' message
I keep getting a 'network reset' message when i try to connect to the iTunes store. I can check for itunes updates just fine and Safari works properly.
I removed iTunes and re-downloaded it again... problem still there.
The internet (safari) is working fine. Connecting with both airport AND a LAN line gives same message.
HELP! 4 year old powerbook g4 w/ 1.67 processor and 1 gig ddr ram. OS 10.4.11 and all updates are up to date.
It has been giving me this 'network reset' message for two days now.I had the same issue. Today I couldn't even open the iTunes store. I set up a support call and no sooner had I hit the button than the phone rang. After spending half an hour troubleshooting which included resetting Safari, I think we hit upon a solution. The tech had me move the iTunes preferences file to the desktop. When I reopened iTunes it recreated the file and everything seems to work fine now.
The file is located at: user/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist.
Don't delete it until you're sure the new one works. You'll have to walk through your iTunes preferences and reset a few things to the way they were before, but it's relatively painless. Good luck. -
When I am on wifi I get a lot of Connection reset messages. I am new to Mac and did not have these issues when I used my HP laptop.

Do you have data in this cube? If yes, then first you need to delete the data and then try to remove chars from the cube.

Dear Apple, unfortunately, I think I have found a bug in ios 7. During an incoming call is no call rejection or selection of the ability to send a text message. I hope it is a bug and there is a solution. Thank you very much.

XML NameSpace Issue Confused whether it is a bug

The issue is that the generated XML and Actual XML vary as the following: -
The namespace which is used in the Actual XML is globally used and whereas In the generated XML It is used locally wherever the corresponding element or type is used in the XML Actually, which should not happen.

I'm going to be completely honest here, a while ago I spammed a friend to the point where I froze my own messages app on my mac and now when I try to re-open it the spinning colorful pinwheel just pops up and never stops. Yes I learned a lesson but I'd like to obviously use the app again so I was wondering how I can reset the app. Thanks for everyones support!

I have never come across a situation like this.
If you try to send a Super IM over the AIM service it normally will take a few minutes (literally) to come back with a response that it has messed up
I have not tried it with a Jabber service.
There are ways of deleting one or some of the .plists involved that can cause a reset of sorts but these are normally used for other things.
I have never had a Message "Stuck" in such a way that the App Hangs so that a .plist might have details of the IM it is sending.
With Messages shut down open the Console app (In Applications/Utilities)
In the System Diagnostic Reports do you have anything for Messages

This Hang was for only 3 and a bit secs (yours will probably list a longer period).
Now go to the All Messages section of Console and try starting Messages.
Do you get additional info (there may be a reveal triangle to open) ?
Things to try. (one at a time)
Use the Finder > Go Menu > Hold ALT key > Select Library method to open the Home Folder/Library (That is normally invisible)
Open Preferences.
In here find the following .plists
com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist
com.apple.ichat.Jabber.plist
com.apple.imagent.plist
If it was an AIM Message try deleting (Drag to Trash) the AIM one.
If Jabber (GoogleTalk or Facebook or other) they try the Jabber one.
After the deletion restart Messages.
If deleting the service .plist did not work try deleting com.apple.imagent.plist
If it happens to be an iMessages IM then delete both of these
com.apple.imessage.bag.plist
com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist
You will need to restart Messages again. The second of these is likely to need you to re-enter your Apple ID.
To be clear.
Qith Messages shut down then Delete one .plist (AIM or Jabber)
Restart Messages.
If it does not work shut down (force Quit) Mesages
Remove the imagent .plist
Restart Messages.
If a iMessages conversation then delete both .plists and restart Messages (you may need to re-enter your Apple ID)

How can I Totally reset messages app on OSX?
Here is what I tryed.
logged in to my guest MAC OSX account, started fresh and my messages work just fine and sync'ed with my iPhone 4S.
Logged back to my work user account (admin) and what happens is I just can't send any imessage to my iphone (on the "fresh from scratch" guest user it all worked just fine, mac to iphone, iphone to mac.. all perfect, messages showed on both) ...!?
I try sending a message from messages App on the MAC, then choose the to: field for my phone number which shows on the list with a symbol that stands for available for imessage (apple email is just the same behaviour), i then write something, press return ....and the message just doesn't show up on the conversation, nor the iphone.. and I don't get any error message!?
On the conversation pane all I see is a break line with the current time (the time the message was typed and I pressed return), but like stated no balloon (or square, etc..) with my message inside.
This kinda points to some freak error on my user account ...
So I de-active the account on the preferences on the messages app, log out, quit app..
Then Finder/user/library/ pref... searched for any files with "message" and deleted all these preferences files..
back on Finder/user/library/Messages i delete all attachments/ archive of old conversations and the database (.db) file ..
Secure Empty trash 'till it's clean ..
Iphone Setting/general/messages/ turn off iMessage (and yes I choose apple ID here)
Reboot my macbook pro
Open Messages, reconfigure like before on the guest user (and on the regular user for that matter).
Prob still stands ...
On the iphone front I can send imessages to myself or any one with iphone no problem.. just nothing shows up on the MAC!!

The iMessages side should be reset with just deleting com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist
This .plist holds the Apple ID and any verified Aliases (the iPhone Number and any additional emails) linked to the Account.
com.apple.imessage.bag.plist holds the servers that iMessages account should be logging in to.
com.apple.ichat.plist holds most things set in the Messages Preferences (except the Accounts)
It also holds some of the menu settings.
The ones with AIM, Jabber, Subnet and Yahoo in the name hold the details of the relevant accounts that use those services (Subnet is Bonjour)
There is one for the Saved Status Messages you have made and another that deals with the Recent Items list.
com.apple.imagent.plist handles all the non iMessages accounts (it basically starts up when the computer does and provides background "listening" for Off line contact for all Messages accounts and for FaceTime.

The connection was reset message only appearing on mozillas support and addons site
I received an error message involving a proxy when i tried going on netflix. I have the add on "media hint" which redirects the proxy through it, so i uninstalled it intending to reinstall hoping that would fix it, but i never even got that far.
When i went to the mozilla add on site, it said the connection was reset while loading the page. It said the same thing on the support forums (im on my phone now). I thought it was an https problem, but the irony is the only sites getting this error message were some mozilla sites. They work fine in other browsers.
I tried every solution i could think of or find on the internet and nothing has worked.Are you now using a direct connection?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

N8/Belle: "new message" icons confused
I have an N8 that is supposedly fully up to date with Belle and the related software. Nothing has been configured yet with any of the new Microsoft apps.
The last update was installed yesterday, for the "new widgets", etc.
The problem was that at the top of the screen, to the left of where the GPS satellite image would appear during satellite access, there is a flashing white envelope. Nothing I have done will get rid of it.
Supposedly this is if your mailbox is full - I emptied out all the mailbox folders. I thought the mail program was even more confused than I originally thought, so I deleted everything. No luck.
Then today, I now have a white envelope below the time on the 'lock screen'. Again, nothing seems to be able to get rid of it. Messages were cleared out, draft folders emptied...
Anyone know where this stuff comes from, and better yet, how to get rid of it?

Go to Solution.You were correct - I tried to follow the built-in manual's instructions to get to the SIM card, but it didn't work. I gave up and put the SIM card in an old phone that doesn't have any of the high-tech stuff, and deleted all the messages on the SIM card, then put it back in the N8. Problem solved. Everything works fine again.
Having just read your message, I tried it your way - and while there are no messages left to be dealt with, your instructions worked fine.
(That anyone would put that flashing icon on the phone, with no way to identify what is wrong, is beyond me. If Nokia is serious about the N8, which I'm sure they're not, they'd let a person click on the flashing envelope and get a message as to what the problem is.)
.............side thought. With this update, Belle is a lot less annoying than it used to be. Apparently the new update doesn't fix all the problems with Belle, but at least it takes care of some of the most annoying ones. The phone is like an old shoe...... it might not be as good as it once was, but it's comfortable. Maybe I'll stop trying to sell it.......... -
