Reset Mode Zen Mi

People,
my Zen Micro is haviong bad time, is gives a HArdware Problem sign on the LCD screen; but it seems impossible to activate the reset mode. For some time i have kept myself busy with this problem, but i don't really see a way out.
Does anybody recongnise the problem. Is there a golden tip for how to activate the reset Mode or do I just need to keep doing it.
Or...is it possible that my Zen MIcro is dead; and will never activate the reset?
I keep my hopes up, considering that i did activate Reset Mode this morning. But now my MP3 refuses any cooperation!
I hope to hear from somebody who recognizes this.

Sounds like you have a defecti've player. You should exchange it for a new one. My first two players were defecti've (hard dri've failed). I've had the third for 3+ months and I'm very happy with it.

Firefox hangs on startup in normal mode and safe mode, won't start in reset mode

using FF 26.0
using windows 7 home premium v 6.1 (latest)
My problems started after loading FF 26.0. If I start FF in regular mode it hangs. Same thing happens when I start in safe mode. I can shut FF down (while it is hung) by clicking the X in the top right corner.
When I start FF in safe mode and choose reset FF, it hangs without FF ever appearing; I have to shut it down using task manager. After shutting down in reset mode, I can start FF in regular mode and everything works fine. However, stopping FF does not shut it down. I have to use task manager to shut it down. Then I am back to square one when trying to start FF, i.e. reset firefox, hangs, task manager shut down, then start FF.
When FF is running, I can open a new FF window.All my addons are up to date. I have reinstalled FF 26.0, three or four times.
I have cleared cache and cookies.
I have scanned for viruses and rootkits etc. with microsoft security essentials and spybot.
I have been a happy user of FF for more than a decade and have never had a problem like this. Any help will be appreciated.

Macbook gone to reset mode

Seems like my macbook has gone to reset mode except that files and applications are intact. I tried to rearrange the icons but it came back to reset mode again whenever it is restarted. Basically, the icons are messed up, the dock was like what it was when it came..I don't know what I have done for this to happen.. If anybody knows this issue, I badly need your help.. Go to Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility... When it opens click your hard drive in the left column and then click repair drive permissions in the main window...
Like the other person that responded said, I got this problem when trying to rename the Home folder by creating a new account and then moving everything over as in the tutorial they posted (I think i forgot a step). You could try right clicking (ctrl+click) on your home folder (looks like a house) and then click get info. At the very bottom of the info pane see if you have permission to read and write. Repeat this for the Library folder within the Home folder.

It is triggered in MAM, when trying to insert MAM005, the reset transaction probably is not finished ..?

Hi Lalo,
whenever you press the reset button, this causes that the complete persistence is marked for reset. You are right, pressing the button as such does not immediately trigger a communication with the middleware, but from that moment on you can not do any changes on the client - you need to sync first!
Well, the logic behind is: whenever you say, the client reset is necessary, you say as well that the persistence has an error. Whatever the problem is. Any changes, new items, deletions you have done prior to the reset and that you have not synced are lost as well. So be careful with this button!
If you work with MAM on a PDA - a complete refresh of the dataset can take easily up to 30minutes - depending on the PDA model and data volume.
So if you sync one time, then watch MEREP_MON to check if all data is in O-Waiting and then sync again to really get the complete data set - this will help to fix the issue immediately.

Extreme Stuck in Reset Mode

I have an Airport Extreme Base Station that appears to be stuck in reset mode...
It has the middle light blinking slowly and right/left LEDs stay off
Looking on Tech Articles, this means the base station is in reset mode
This Airport has been in "reset" mode for two days
Things I've tried...
soft and hard resets per Tech Articles
Also attempted to connect Base Station directly to my laptop (that has Airport Admin Utility installed)
While connected, used suggested ip addresses
192.42.249.14 as well as 192.42.249.15
255.255.255.0
192.42.249.13
also tried with DHCP
swapped ethernet cords in case this was an issue
The end result is that I can never see this base station in Airport Admin Utility or Airport Setup.
It appears to be stuck in reset mode.
Any suggestions appreciated

ABS Dual Ethernet -- Error writing configuration during hard reset mode

This has been a full day of troubleshooting this one. After downloading the Airport Admin Utility 4.2.5, I was finally able to see the old ABS Dual Ethernet via ethernet cable plugged into the LAN port from a Macbook running 10.5.2. We don't know the password to login into the base station and a soft reset hasn't stripped the password from the base station.
So.. I got ABS into hard reset mode with the middle LED blinking once every second as described in the Apple documentation, and was able to seethe ABS from the Airport Admin Utility. HOWEVER, when I try to configure the ABS, I enter my Admin username and password, am prompted to temporarily change TCP/IP settings for this computer and then "Writing configuration..." comes up.. but a few seconds later I get an error message "An error occurred while writing the configuration."
That's it. No other explanation.
No idea where to go from here.
My network settings are set in Manual mode to the following:
IP: 192.42.249.15
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.42.249.13
Any ideas with this one?

If I understand your post correctly, "when I try to configure the ABS" in the second paragraph refers to clicking the Configure button while trying to reload base station software (i.e., step 16 in Apple's document titled AirPort Base Station (Dual Ethernet) : How to reload software from Mac OS X).
I suggest that in order to reload the base station software, you make sure that AirPort is inactive on your computer and that the manual network settings you described are in the "Show: Built-in Ethernet" part of Network preferences.
Beyond that, I'd recommend re-doing the hard reset, possibly multiple times if it doesn't succeed the first time.
On the other hand, if you successfully reloaded the base station software and are indeed trying to configure the base station's settings, then quit AirPort Admin Utility, restore the computer's Network Ethernet settings to Using DHCP, and reopen AirPort Admin Utility (steps 18-20 of Apple's document).

C1140 Radio stuck in "reset mode" any fix?

This question was posed before a year ago, but not answered.
Some of my C1140's Radio-0, the BGN are going in to "reset mode". The code level is 12.4(21a)JA1. Is there any fix out for this. The are running in AP mode, not connected to the WLan controller. Rebooting the AP seems to fix the problem for several hours, then Radio0 is back down.

Solution to 5G iPod stuck in reset mode

I wanted to share what worked for me. After 11 months, when I went to synch my iPod, iTunes said it saw an iPod in reset mode and that it had to be reset before it could synch. I tried the 5R's many times, but to no avail. What worked was when I completely removed iTunes (via the installer) and then reinstalled it (before I had only repaired iTunes with the installer). After that, the synch restored everything to my ipod, and it's back to normal (knock on wood).
Hope this helps people out. Basically, do the 5R's but be sure to actually delete and reinstall iTunes by running the new installer twice.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

After having to reset my Zen Vision M, it now rebuilds the library every time I turn it

My Vision M froze on me about a month ago, and I had to reset it to get it to turn off and back on. When I reset it, it went through the whole Rebuilding process, and then was on again. But half of my music was missing. And now every time I turn it off and turn it back on, it goes through the rebuilding process.
Is there a way to make it stop this. I use it in my car, and every time I get in, I listen to the radio while it's rebuilding. And then I end up forgetting that I even have it with me. Having to wait a few minutes to listen to my music, when I usually only have a little more than a few minutes to listen to music when I use it on my way to and from work, makes it nearly useless.
If I format it back to factory settings, will it fix this issue? Or am I just going to need a new MP3 player? Those Zen Vision W's sure do look really nice. But I don't have the money for that. I'd prefer to just find a fix for this.

It could help to update the firmware, and try the Clean Up option in the Recovery Mode menu:

Hopefully that Clean Up option should clear that problem for you. If it doesn't, it might help to do a full format of the unit before you transfer music back to it. That will remove everything on the player though, so back your music up if you haven't done so already.

Accessing Recovery Mode: Zen Vision M

I'm trying to access the recovery mode on my Zen Vision M (I'm experiencing the 'player not detected' syndrome). I followed the instructions by holding the power button toward the power symbol, and then gently poking a paper clip into the little reset hole at the bottom. The instructions say to do this til the creative logo appears, but it doesnt--the screen just stays blank. Am I not waiting long enough? I didnt think it would take much time. The battery level is at about 50%--should I recharge it all the way first?
