  • How can I get the number of computers that a specific user had add to domain?

    Greetings
In Win Srv 2K8 I know how to increase\decrease the total number of computers that any user can add to domain.
but there is any way to get the number of computer accounts that a user had add?
    thank you in advance

    Hi,
Regarding your request, maybe we could use the 'ms-DS-CreatorSID' attribute to verify the computer number that a specific has joined to the domain. Please understand that for a
computer account created by domain users, the account has 'ms-DS-CreatorSID' attribute to indicate the creator user. When a user adds a computer to the domain, a process enumerates the 'ms-DS-CreatorSID' attribute on every computer account in the domain and
calculates if the sum exceeds the current quota for that user.
The 'ms-DS-CreatorSID' and 'ms-DS-MachineAccountQuota' with default value 10 are also available in Windows Server 2008 AD DS.
Note: The 'ms-DS-CreatorSID' attribute will be unset in the computer account that is pre-created in Active Directory Users and Computers MMC or joined by domain administrators.
Auditing on the computers container should work for collecting information of joining computer into the domain.
For details, please refer to the following similar thread.

  • Security - Can I limit the number of computers which can access a PDF?

I'd like to set the following specific securities over my PDF document:
    1. Password access
    2. Editing (copy/paste) disabled.
I already know how to do these two in Acrobat.
    3. Limit the number of computers which can open the document. (i.e. I want to prevent the document holder from sending their copy of the PDF to someone else via email, external hard drive, etc.  Once he/she opens the PDF on their laptop, it can't be opened again on any other cpu)
    4. Expiration (i.e. I want to set a 5/10/15/ or 30-day expiration on the document.  Once it's been opened, it will become inaccessible in 5/10/15/ or 30 days' time.....whichever I would specifiy)
Can someone help me with the last two items?  Your help is much appreciated.
    --Charles

If (and this is a big IF) all recipients of your PDFs have digital IDs (PKI-based certificates), you can encrypt your PDFs with certificate encryption. In the encryption workflow you add recipients' certificates (with public key only) to the encrypted document. After that only holders of one of those certificates may be able to open your PDFs. This method does not restrict the documents from opening only on specific CPUs and does not prevent documents from being moved from one location to another but rather restricts the ability to open this document to a pre0defined group of people who are identified by their Digital IDs.
The caveat here is that all these people need to have Digital IDs and send you their public keys.

  • Maximum number of computers used per month

I need to report the maximum number of computers in use at one time per month, by collection

Concur with Garth. You need to explicitly define what a "computer in use is" in technical terms.
I doubt you'll be able to get this from ConfigMgr though as it doesn't track computer "usage" and neither does Windows really. You may be able to base it on login and logout times, but does that meet your definition? Even if it does, this wouldn't
be a trivial report to write given raw data like these times.

  • I purchased Photoshop 13 on disk for Windows now I am getting a message stating I exceeded the number of computers

I installed Photoshop 13 on 2 laptops and 1 desktop using the Photoshop 13 disk. All computers are running Windows 8.1 Why am I just now finding out that installing Photoshop 13 is limited to a certain number of computers? NO where on the packaging or product description does it state that it is limited. I am a long time user of Photoshop and it really torques me off that I am now limited to the number of computers I can install the program on. Well I am returning this and finding another product. It is deceptive advertising.

She is correct it is not on the packages or product description. The EULA would have to be accessed on the Adobe website. Adobe should make it visible on the packages. Many other software companies make the number of computer allowed visible on their packages. I imagine this individual was familiar with seeing the number of computer allowed listed on other software packages. When she did not see it on the package it is implied that there is no limit.

  • VAMT 3.0 Duplicate Client Machine ID Report showing excessive number of computers

We are running a KMS on a 2008 R2 VM with plenty of CPU, RAM and storage.  I recently configured and installed the Volume Activation Management Tool 3.0.  Everything seems to be working well except that reviewing the Volume License
Reports, specifically the Duplicate Client Machine ID Report, I noticed an excessive number (about 4 times the number of actual managed computers) are listed in this report node. Even assuming that computer images were not being sysprep'd this
seems really odd.  The License Overview shows 1,813 licensed and 1,678 unknown (possibly off or disconnected devices) and our duplicate CMID report shows about 8,300 plus.  What are the possible causes why this number is so high and how do I troubleshoot
    and remediate inaccuracies?

Duplicate CMID can come if you didnt used /generalize option when sysprep'ing. (http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2009/10/16/kms-host-client-count-not-increasing-due-to-duplicate-cmid-s.aspx)
Please check your KMS's log, to be sure if true or not. If duplicate, it will be logged by your KMS's host.
In virtual, like XenDesktop or View with a golden image it can easilly happen, as the CMID is kept by the server for the virtual's machine (aka the PVS for XenDesktop)

Hi Yagmoth555, thanks for the reply.  I know this is not the case for our environment as it's telling me that physical systems that were installed with the ISO have duplicate ID's.  Also, the previous version of VAMT that we were running didn't show
1,560 systems as having the same ID.  I have already deleted every "product" from the database and rescanned our environment, but I get the same result.

  • Need stats on the number of computers that have installed Adobe Reader

Where can I find how many computers have installed Adobe Reader? I've searched but I can't seem to find an answer. I am trying to convince the PM for a project that we don't need an non-PDF version of a PDF file since Reader is almost universally installed. However, I can't find a solid number to report.

You probably won't get one either. Just wild guesses. This isn't something that Adobe would release as fas as I know.
If you want my wild guess, I'd say 95% of the computers in the US have Reader but again, I have no real information to base that number on.

  • How do you reset your authorized computers? How do you reset your authorized computers?

I have 4 computers authorized out of my available 5.
Currently I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro, but some of my older computers are authorized. The problem is, I do now know which of my old computers are authorized. Is there a way so that I can 'reset' my records of authorized computers and re-authorize my computers that I am currently using?

Easiest way is to deauthorize all then re authorize the Macs you are curently using.

  • Resetting number ranges through SNRO

Client Copy: Each time a client copy is made, material movement postings cannot be processed until several number ranges are reset and the user gets the message Express document “update was terminated”. These number ranges can be reset thru SNRO. But identifying what objects need to be reset also difficult. I don’t know how to identify what objects need to be reset the number ranges for the problem. This problem occurs each time a client copy is made (The user faces). Does anyone know what each object in that table? Where can I find the descriptions of each object? How do I know what objects need to be reset?
    Thanks,

    >
    > Thanks,
    > Sobhan.
Here is the explanation. You take a backup of your production system at a point of time X. At this time, NRIV table has a value of 12345 for document X. Now you refresh your test system with this backup. So your NRIV table in test system will show that the next number available for document X is 12345. Now you create a new document X in test system. It should get the number 12345 allocated to it.
I don't see why it is dumping in your case, unless they are applying different backups to test system in phases like taking a backup of say number ranges at one time and applying that first to test system. In that case, your test system will have the next number at 12345. Meanwhile documents are being created in production and the next available one in production may be 12349. Now basis takes a backup of the documents without the taking the new NRIV backup and apply that to test system. Now in your test system you have documents 12345, 12346, 12347, 12348 while the number range says the next available number is 12345. That is where the dump happens.
Check with your basis if they are doing it this way. If they take one backup for all and apply it, then there should be any problem.

  • HT204074 I have a family of 6 people.  How do I increase the number of computers and devices I can link to my Apple ID?

We each have an iPad and also have an iMac, three MacBook Air laptops and four iPod Touches.  What I am now finding is that I can only have a maximum of 10 devices (including a max of five computers) associated with my Apple ID.  Surely there is a work around for larger families who are loyal Apple fans?

  • Number Of Computers For Install?

Alright, so the impending release of CS4 has me desperately wanting to purchase Photoshop CS4.
I'm in grade 10, which means I could get it through the educational discount, for $300 (for extended), which sure beats $1000 regular.
    HOWEVER,
If I want my mother to pay for it for me, I can only convince her to do so if I can install it on both my and my sister's computers. We both have MacBooks.
So my question is, how many licenses are there going to be with it, and will I be able to install and run it on both of our computers?

Although, it's also technically possible that one person could be on both of their computers at the same time, no?
I suppose I just feel that it's ridiculous I can't even share within my own family.
Considering I'm not even illegally downloading this, or borrowing from a friend, but actually buying it, I just feel that this it's overly insane that I can't share with my sister.
Anyways, this whole thing throws me of the idea of ever buying from Adobe.
I mean, I understand not wanting it on a hundred different computers, or for it to be used outside of one household, but I feel like this is silly.
Sorry for the personal opinions, but I honestly stand by them.
Anyways, I suppose I'll just be buying the one copy, and I'll only install it on my computer?
My sister's at university, and at her friends' houses more of the time than at home, so sharing with designated times where it's ok to use it and others where it isn't is out of the question.
Also, in regard to the owner vs. user, I understand that Adobe can watch your use on a computer, but how can they actually know who's using the computer. Really, it's all circumstantial, and depends on how you word or argue it.
So what are the odds, or the likliehood of Adobe following up on two different users using it?
I have no intent to try and install on more than two computers, but I really can't say that I wouldn't install it on both if I just bought one copy.
I really wouldn't like to break the law by downloading a pirated version, but I have no moral issues with sharing the program with my sister - even if it is against their terms.
    HOWEVER,
I obviously don't want Adobe suing me/my mother for trying to share with my sister...
So yeah, what's the risk involved?
Or is this type of discussion against forum rules?
*has seen far too many stuck-up rules on various forums these days*
