Reset password screen always comes up

After updating to Yosemite, most of the time when I turn on my MacBook Pro, the "reset password" screen appears.  The only options I have are not relevant. I have not forgotten my password and don't need to reset it.  However, because I need to access the info on my Mac, I play along and reset.  The next time I turn on my Mac, I usually get a black screen or the "reset password screen" screen again.  This never happened before the update.  I cannot find an answer anywhere.  Please help!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.
Safe Mode - About
Safe Mode - Yosemite
If that doesn't fix it, do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then re-install the OS.

  • Takes a long time to turn on and then gets stuck on the reset password screen, how do I get past this?

Mac is stuck on the reset password screen.

If it hasn't got iOS 5+ pre-installed then you will need to connect it to a computer's iTunes in order to activate it.

  • My MacBook Pro keeps coming up with the Reset Password Screen and won't let me access my computer!

When it turns on it comes up with the reset password screen, I complete the reset password and press restart but my computer doesn't restart and for a while doesn't turn on at all! After at least 10min it turns on and comes up with the same Reset password screen.
My Mac is up to date in OSX
Please help me! I need it for my homework!

    Hi Linda Loo Loo,
If you have backed up previously to iTunes on a specific computer, even if it has been a while, you may be able to still backup even if you are unable enter the passcode on your iPhone due to a damaged screen. You may find the following article helpful:
If you have previously synced your device with iTunes, you may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, restore your device.
When iOS Setup Assistant asks to set up your device, choose "Restore from iTunes backup".
Select your device in iTunes and choose the most recent backup of your device.

If you're using FileVault, you first have to unlock the startup volume in Disk Utility. Select it and click the Unlock button in the toolbar. Of course, this is only possible if you know another password to unlock the volume. If you don't, follow instead these instructions.

  • Using reset password screen in Portal

    Hi,
I am trying to provide a reset password functionality to users who forgot their password. I am calling AppStep1ResetPwd in my main login page with parameters such as doneURL,cancelURL and homeURL.
My problem is that when I hit the cancel button in any of the three screens, I can return to the page where the link was given (I am passing this page url as my URL parameter), However, when I successfully resets the password, finishresetpassword screen comes up with a success message and "Done" button. Clicking the Done button does not take me back to my originating page. Instead, it is going to the oiddas home page. How can I redirect it to the calling portal page?
I am calling the password reset page as follows:
    http://host:7777/oiddas/ui/oracle/ldap/AppStep1ResetPwd?cancelURL=http://portal.shopko.com/pls/portal/url/page/Vendor_Portal&doneURL=http://HOST:7778/pls/portal/url/page/Vendor_Portal&homeURL=http://HOST:7778/pls/portal/url/page/Vendor_Portal&enableHomeURL=false&enableHelpURL=false
    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Suresh.

    Hi,
    My version is 10.1.2.0.2 .
Yes I tried url encoding, which gets me the same results. (http%3A%2F%2Fhost%3A7778%2Fportal%2F etc..)
    any ideas?
    thanks

  • When booting up MacBook I get a reset password screen

My Macbook pro would not wake from sleep. I shut it down and then tried to restart. I get a Reset password request I can not get out of this. If I reset the password and restart the Macbook it just eventually comes back to this screen.

At this point not much. See OS X Mountain Lion- If you see a blue screen at startup.
If the disk is so full the computer cannot boot, then all you can do is remove the drive and replace it or erase it and reinstall OS X.
If you can restart the computer:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Macbook stuck on reset password screen

hi all - I just restarted my MacBook Pro (just because I thought I hadn't done it in a while) and it looks like it somehow started up in a safe mode and I'm seeing a "Reset Password" grey screen with options to "choose the problem you are having when logging in" and with 3 options.  It doesn't recognize my keyboard strokes - nothing works.  My mouse is moving, so it isn't stuck - it just wont let me press enter or press any radio button.  I have tried to restart in safe mode and also a systems recovery mode (the control R) and everything brings me back to this page where I can't do anything.  Thoughts?

See this Apple note on steps to take.

  • MacBook pro boots to reset password instead of loggin screen

why I turned my computer on this morning it took for ever to even show any thing on the screen and when it does it goes straight to a "reset password" screen.. I know my password and am not sure why it does this. Nonetheless I try to follow the different steps to reset password but when I restart my computer as prompted it only restarts back to the same "reset password" screen

I had the exact same problem today!  As recommended I reset in safe mode which took me back to the reset password screen, I reset it and then reboot. Shine a torch through the  apple logo on the back of the screen and you will see that the screen is working but the light isn't. I put in my password with the backlight nit working and as it logged  in the backlight came on. No idea what caused it, will update if things change!

  • 3.1 EA1 Reset Password not available

How to change password in this version? "Reset password' is always gray, no matter if you connected or not

SQL*DEVELOPER 2.1 RESET PASSWORD OPTION IS GREYED OUT (Doc ID 1064226.1)
    Solution
When the latest oci.dll is in PATH variable it works. Since database 11G contains the latest oci.dll at $DB_HOME/bin, it was working on such SQL Developer.
So the solution is to download the latest OCI driver and install it in a separate location and add it to PATH variable defined on the Desktop where SQL Developer is installed.
Below are the steps to install it
    a. Download 11g ODBC driver from the instant client. This is at location
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/winsoft.html and Option to download is "instantclient-basic-win32-11.1.0.7.0.zip (46,734,555 bytes)"
    b. Install it at machine hosting SQL developer to any location. (say d:\instant-client)
    c. Add D:\instant-client\instantclient_11_1 to the PATH environment variable (as first entry)
    d. Save it and start SQL Developer. DO not connect and "Right Click" on connection. You should see "reset password" option as enabled as in below image.
Latest oci.dll is needed to overcome this issue. Since this DLL is not shipped with SQL Developer it's dependent on existing OCI driver.
    Hope this helps.

Well, you can try easing the shift key up with something thin but flexible (credit card sort of thing) but if the contacts below are stuck you may need to get it seen to by an authorised repairer.
If you can borrow a keyboard (a PC one will probably work as long as the password is alpha-numeric with no special characters) you can at least get in to backup your HD before going for repair.

    Hi sayla,
When you reloaded your software did you do a clean reload (deleting all data)? http://bbry.lv/bpv7DT
If so, you might try doing a resettofactory using the following instructions. http://bit.ly/fMW9I4 This will reset to factory default.

reset all settings and contants ipad. Now ipad is not open?why/ on the screen always apple icon.

Why would you do that? That's not how you deal with issues on your iPad, that's how you deal with problems on poorly designed Windows machines.
    Try this First...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
