Reset position for linear movement

I am using PCI 7344 and UMI7774.I am using three of its Axis.The first two axis are just used as a DRO ( DIgital Read Out) and the third axis is used to control servomotor.
Now at a instant of time, I require to Reset all the axis position to zero.Now the third axis can be reseted by using the Reset Position Vi. But since the first two axis are manual, I have used scales which are used for linear movement measurement( The scales are same as encoders, but can be used for linear measurement.It also has A, B & Z). How can I reset the position for this 2 axis.

1.The MB5B report will show the stock on posting date with all movements like Goods recipt from Purchase, production order, stock transport order, & goods issue due to consumption posting, stock transfers & transfer posting.
2. This is designed to see the Opening balane+Goods receipt - goods issue = closing balance.
3.You can't take report only for particulat movement type.
4.If u want to get the details as per the movement type, then use MB51 report.

Having arranged some scanned pictures in an album in I-Photo how can I keep them in the order I have chosen when I move the album. They all have the scan date and not the taken date and move to new positions if I move them from one album to another.

Is there any way to re-number them in the order I have chosen so that they can then be sorted by number? The scans are all from pre-digital images that I wish to move to a photobook and I don't want to have to organise them twice!

I was a bit short, Chris, sorry. It is limited, what can be posted, when typing on an iPad.
Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following: Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date. This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames.

Lack of support for rented movies

Last night I rented a movie from the AppleTV. It appeared to download okay. But when I tried to play it, all I got was a white screen.
I immediately tried to call Apple support. After a few minutes with the voice response system, it told me they were closed – call tomorrow. Why didn’t the voice response system say that at the beginning?
I called early next morning (6:30am PDT). After navigating through the voice response system, I got a technician who asked for my AppleTV serial number and verified that I had an AppleCare agreement. After about 20 min of research, he told me to unplug the AppleTV, wait 30 sec., then plug it back in and see if that fixes the problem. Well, it did – I could view the movie. He told me the problem is due to the way the firmware handles an HDMI connection – but only with rented movies. What??? The technician then said “good, we fixed the problem you’re good to go.”
I said not so fast – and asked how Apple was going to compensate me for going through the motions of downloading a rented movie, trying to troubleshoot and calling in (only to be told I was SOL), spending 45 min the next morning, and never being able to see the movie due to an Apple hardware problem. The technician put me on the phone with his “supervisor” - again a 5 min wait on hold.
The supervisor asked what was the problem – since I still had 12 more hours to watch the movie (we were talking at 6:30am). Then she had the audacity to say there wasn’t a “technical problem” since un-plugging the AppleTV reset it and I could now see the movie. I told her that I wanted to watch the movie last night and there most certainly was a technical problem at that time - i.e., white screen. She reluctantly said that she would “try” to get me a refund for the movie.
I then asked her how was I suppose to get support in real-time for AppleTV download issues? She again reiterated that their hours are 6-6 and they don’t accept support calls after 6pm PDT. She asked why I didn’t go on-line and seek help on the Apple Web site. Excuse me? I was sitting down to dinner with my family who wanted to watch the rented movie. Going off to a computer to research an Apple hardware problem wouldn’t have been politically correct under the circumstances.
I also told her that the technician wouldn’t talk to me without evidence of a AppleCare support agreement on the AppleTV. Hey, a rented movie wouldn’t play. Why do I need an Apple support agreement to merely get what I paid for? I asked, what if I had just purchased the AppleTV, how would I solve this sort of problem? She said that I could have paid a one time $49 support charge to get someone to tell me to unplug the AppleTV. Mind you, that’s a $49 charge to see a $4.99 movie due to a known problem with Apple’s firmware. Unbelievable!
Given the frustration of not getting the movie to play (at dinner time), no realistic support to fix the problem, and the baffling conversation with Apple’s insensitive support manager - all I was offered is someone will “try” to get me a refund.
Okay, this won’t happen to me again. Because I won’t be renting or downloading movies from Apple’s service. Sorry I bought the AppleTV - wonder if I can get a refund for it?

I agree the OP could not have known to restart the device but I do rather think their expectations after receiving help were unrealistic.
From the Applecare diagnosis it was an issue with the tv that led to the OP being unable to watch their movie when they wanted, not the rental, and technically one would need warranty or Applecare to receive phone based support for the tv.
I accept it was unfortunate the OP's experience wasn't as it should have been and that it was made a little worse by not being able to speak to someone out of hours, although I do see the need for staff to verify that Applecare has been purchased with each caller.
At the end of the day, the OP's issue was resolved and their was no financial loss to the OP. These things happen, it's unreasonable to expect, or fulminate over not getting, some form of compensation, (although it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for the rental for free without expectation). What sort of compensation does one thing you would get from Canon if your video camera broke down in the middle of filming your sons graduation day ceremony.

Hi,
the thing is the following (maybe it doesn't work at all, i don't know) :
a) i have a "Non-stock" material (e.g.material type NLAG)
b)this material should be picked, so it should be relevant for the delivery (e.g.item category TAX)
c) for a special reason the "Total goods movement status" in the outbound delivery header shouldn't be "Not relevant", therefore i assigned the item category TAX to a shedule line category that has a movement type (e.g. CN)
d)but the bad thing is, that the customer has set the indicators "quantity updating" and "value updating" for the material type NLAG, and so the goods issue posting gets some errors. eg.g missing storage location etc.)
During debugging i found a coding that checks the sign NOWAB of lips, the documentation says:
"You can use this indicator to control whether the item is relevant for goods movement when the delivery is still being created.
When this indicator is set, goods movement is not posted for this item - regardless of the movement type assigned to it."
So i head the idea it might be possible to set this indication (Lips-nowab) somewhere in the sales order or somewhere else but maybe this conflicts with point c) above .
Maybe shomeone knows what to do or has a better idea.

TS3623 APPLE TV download times suddenly became 3-4 evn 12 hrs for a movie?

What happened 3 months ago ? APTV was working fine then download times suddenly became 3-4 evn 12 hrs for a movie?!! Movies that I purchased that are in their cloud take a similar time to download. Not a problem with my internet provider or my router as both tested fine. Apple Genius Bar has suggested a reset of the device which made zero difference. Any suggestions out there?

How to avoid built-up for "cursor move" events?

I have a rather complicated program where several graphs need to be interactively updated according to cursors using "cursor move" events. The problem is that the recalculation is relatively slow and the behavior is less than satisfactory. Since the cursor position needs to be "tweaked" until the result is as desired, I cannot recalculate only at the "Cursor Release" event.
Lock front panel=enabled makes cursor movements tedious because the cursor movements is very
jumpy and non-interactive. Not user friendly!
Lock front panel=disabled queues up way too many move events and once the cursor is released
the graph continues to jump and recalculate for ages.
The attached demo (LabVIEW 8.20) shows one solution attempt that actually works pretty well: Skip the recalculation unless the cursor position from the event terminal is equal to the cursor position of the graph property node. This basically races through all unecessary intermediary recalculations on stale positions. However, the code can get complicated very quickly if there are multiple cursors.
In my opinion, cursor move events should not get queued up! The event buffer should hold only exactly one entry:
the most recent cursor position for each cursor. Can anyone think of a scenario where the extra cursor position trail is useful? The positions are pretty random anyway, right?
Does anyone have other (better!) ideas how to work around this problem? I definitely want to keep it simple and not throw lots of code at it.
The attached demo contains more details. It demonstrates the problem if "selective updates" is checked. If unchecked, it implements the above mentioned workaround.

Thanks for the example.
The more I think about this, I strongly prefer my original method. It uses minimal code compare to the other solutions offered here. As a demo, I am attaching an implementation to a slide control.
Fo those without LabVIEW 8.20.
All slide events have "lock front panel" disabled.
TIme delay is 500ms, simulating some complex calculation.
As you can see, it works extremely well:
NO shift registers, extra loops, queues, tuning parameters (min times, etc.), etc.etc.
Just a deceptively simple "equal" followed by a case structure.
The demo shows a typical recording if I quicky move the slide up and down, then release it. You can see that the raw event structure takes more than 40 seconds to stabilize while my selective solution follows the slider position almost perfectly despite the 500ms stall in each update.
See for yourself! Can anyone think of a drawback of this method? Even if the slide terminal is not in the same loop, a comparison of a local variable with the newval should do the trick just fine.

Vertically sync time position for two or more 2D axis systems?

In DIAdem: VIEW,
Is it possible to vertically sync the time position for two or more 2D axis system charts placed above each other?
I have displayed several channels on one 2D chart, and one channel of particular interest on a separate chart above, which was very easy to do. It would be really useful to sync the time position on both charts, such that scrolling one chart also scrolls the second chart, or zooming one chart also zooms the second chart to the same area, which seems like a fairly basic thing to want to do, but I haven't found a way to do it yet.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes, I have been using that method, which works fine up to a point.
But, say you have several curves displayed on the bottom chart, with the Y-Axis set to "n Y-axes", then the start of the x-axis will be further across to the right than the top chart which has only one curve displayed.
It is possible to add an empty area to the left of the top chart, to push the start of the x-axis across into alignment (see attached), but every time you add or remove a curve on the bottom chart, or the scale changes enough to add a digit, the start of the x-axis moves and the top chart needs aligning again.
I'm really after a method to lock both ends of both x-axes to the same vertical screen position, so everything stays aligned automatically?

ReSetting preferences for a project?

I think things got scrambled, and I need to go back and reset preferences for a project. Shot on Canon 5D II, want to work at 1920x1080.
Does anyone know of a good online source for the way things should be reset at this point?

What is wrong with the project?
You could use MediaManager and use the 'create offline' option rather than copy or move. Then create a new project and set the sequence settings to what you want.
Or just use cmd-0 to change the sequence settings directly.
That's just my immediate responses based on a lack of info.

Positioning a linear stage incrementally

I found a driver that runs my ESP300 stages from Position 1 to Position 2. However, I need to move them incrementally in steps and have a time base for these movements. Is there a way I could use most of the same code from the driver but change the positioning method?

I have made a handler that deals with this Newport controller and I run the motors from one position to the next and back to start again in several steps, and I didn't have to use too many commands to make this work. My program run the motors by absolute values (i.e. by first finding the home position and then moving to an absolute position) or by relative values.
I ended up with using only these commands to control the axes:
Read Actual Position
Get Axis Motion Status
Get Motor Status
Motors On
Write to motor controllers (using compact command structure):
Axis 1=1OL0.01;1OH0.05
Axis 2=2OL0.01;2OH0.05
Move Home (Either by "Find Negative Limit Signal" or "Find +0 Position Count")
Move Absolute
Move Relative
Motors Off
The Axis setup above shows only an example of what I needed to set. The manual explains the exact syntax to be used.
The difficult part of my program was not to control the motors, but to keep track of my desired end-positions and when to move back and stop. Anyway, it seems you will come best out by using only relative movements in a loop.
There is one thing I discovered when investigating the controller and its software: You can program the controller to do most of the stepping and have LabVIEW to only start, monitor and maybe stop the motors. Maybe that would be an easier solution?
In any case it could be helpful to intall the ESP-Util program that's part of the software that ships with the controller. Along with the installation I think will also come the default setup-files for the controller axes in text-format. If not, you can use the ESP-Util to generate the text files containing the current setup for the axes. By reading the various settings in the files along with the commands in the manual you may get an idea of how the axes are currently configured and what parameters to maybe change.

Accurate Screen Position for Recording

Camtasia has a coordinate method for positioning a recording
area in the screen of the video terminal.
Doe Captivate provide this capablility? When I make a
recording of a screen area, in this case it is a web app that is
located within the IE browser window. I do not want to snap to the
"application", which is provided in the recording options dialog
box. Also I do not want to capture the entire screen.
The reason for this requirement is, that if a recording
session spans a couple of days (work 1 hour today, and another hour
tomorrow, etc), or a different user continues recording where I
left off, the recording output from Captivate will show some screen
"jump" if the user (or myself) does not pick the "exact" spot
within the browser. so far we are using the eye-ball method of
alignment.
Any tips on this???

No, the eyeball method needn't "have to do", but some
imagination (
my favorite tool for development) is required to use "Sizer"
in a way that will accomplish what you need.
REMEMBER
Sizer will allow you to set not only the size of a window,
but the exact location at the same time, so . . .
Assuming you want to record a portion of an Internet Explorer
window ...
1) Create a Sizer configuration for the size and location of

doing what you are trying to do - successfully and effortlessly -
for years. I promise you that the time you spend getting the
configurations set up and saved will be repaid a hundredfold in
your new ability to quit at any point, then later restart the
computer and quickly set up the recording of additional slides for
your movies with perfect size and alignment to the originally
recorded slides.

Some quetions for my movie project

Hey all,
I've recentlty jumped into making a school video for an end-of-year presentation. I decided to use Final Cut Pro 6 as my primary editing software, and as far as production goes, I'm ready to begin the editing process. The only problem is, I'm not that experienced with it and I'm wondering where some things are. Some of my problems are:
1) Where are the stock sound effects? I need to have sounds like gunshots and etc. Does FCP provide this? If not, where might I be able to get free, good-quality sound effects for FCP?
2) Is it possible to work on a "credits" for my movie when the movie clips have not been fully compiled into a timeline/captured onto disk? More precisiely, can I make a black credits clip before I start putting things together?
3) Is it possible to add in visual effects? E.g. gun flares, sparks, etc.?

1) I like sounddogs.com -- not good quality, but if you have to ask where are they then you probably don't really NEED super good quality and these would do.
2) NLE means non-linear means you can drop things in where ever when ever you want. Even create a sequence that is your credits and drag THAT sequence to the final project sequence.
3) Yes... I'd look at Motion for these. But spend some time over at videocopilot.net and look at getting action movie essentials for the gun flares. Although he uses After Effects, this can all be done with Motion too.
Good luck, you've got your work cut out for you. "Work" here means learning too!!

GPU enough power for HD movies?

Hey it's been a couple of years since I've been in the know about computer hardware. Just wondering if anyone knows from experience that the mini has enough graphics power to play movies in high-def on say a HDTV?

Can anyone else confirm that the new intel dual core mac mini is good for HD movies at 1080?
I've read several posts on this site that express scepticism that it will work well and only this one has been positive. I'm considering upgrading my 2005 mac mini largely for this reason, but I don't want to waste my money.
Reading the required stats on the Quicktime link (given in an earlier post) for HD playback, the new mac mini doesn't look like it is up to even the minimum requirements - how can this work?
Currently: 1.42GHz G4 with 512MB RAM Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Reset position different stepper encoder

I have a stepper motor (with an encoder) connected to a NI 7350 motion controller. The encoder and the stepper have different count per revolution.
I'm trying to reset the motor to a non-zero position, i.e. different count values for stepper and encoder, with the "Reset Position.vi" under trajectory control, but it seems I can only set them to the same value. How come?

You have the option of adding a secondary feedback.
However, you may want to read the following article. As long as you set the appropriate settings in MAX, it should be able to make the calculations in the background with respect to commands you send to the motor. And then setting the value of the primary feedback is not really an issue.
For example lets say we use the example in the article (1000 steps/rev and 2000 counts/rev on the encoder) you start out at position 0, provide a command of 100, it will make the 2:1 calculation and stop driving the motor once it counts 200 pulses from the encoder. Let's say you want to make this the new "home" position, you set it to 0 and go from there. If you set it to something other than 0, let's say 150, that corresponds to 150 steps of the motor or 300 counts of the encoder.
In summary if you set the counts/rev and steps/rev in MAX, the associated values you command will be in terms of motor steps. LabVIEW will make the necessary ratio calculation to stop on the appropriate encoder count.
