Reset samba passwords - Mission impossible?

Yesterday night I tried to set a password for a new user (of a Windows XP) so that I may connect my MacBook to a PC.
Reason: I never managed to connect the both of them. I was always receiving a kind of "wromng user/password message (do not remember the exact wording at the moment).
What happened: I opened the terminal. Typed smbpasswd -a it prompted me for a new password.
So, here I got confused. I believe I didn't insert and confirmed any password and just closed the terminal window, but after that, whenever I try to change the password it first asks me for a OLD password.
Whatever I do - ignore it or try to insert something I may have entered earlier, I always get the same reply:
machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the (anonymous) password change: Error was : Wrong Password.

If I try to set a password for a particular user, then I get the following:
odssam_getsampwnam: [0]getsam_recordattributes dsRecTypeStandard:Users no account for 'asen'!

could not find new user/computer asen in passdb.

Is it possible to absolutely reset samba?

Well, it's not that I want to connect my Macbook from another PC. It is vice versa. I want to connect another computer, runing Win XP, with disabled "guest" account. This I never managed to do.
I'll read the samba details you offered in the link.
Off topic: Is it possible that I messed something with the smbpasswd settings? I tried to set a new password but I didn't finish the procedure. I closed the terminal by force to discontinue the process.

Even boot and go ask for the password. If auto-boot? true you might be able to use the hard disk from a second system with a known root password. With FC-AL disks this doesn't work, due to the unique WWN.
How to "fix" it ?
* Get a new programed IDPROM (Timekeeper/NVRAM).
* Swap the timekeeper with one without security-mode set, swap again during operation (powered-on)and change the security-mode. Unfortunately this is very risky and probably impossible, because the timekeeper/IDPROM is located below the power-supply/add-in boards on the systemboard or the system won't operate with open cover, barely impossible.
* Clearing the contents of the timekeeper. This involves re-programing the host-id (NVRAM FAQ). The required commands have been removed in OBP versions 4.x, therefore this isn't an option

How do i reset the password for cisco DMM 5.1 hardware machine

I have a cisco DMM 5.1 with some players installed on it, I can login to the dmm 5.1 via web browser but I cannot login the hardware directly through the console, I dont have the password for the console access, Could any one please help me resetting the password for the cisco DMM 5.1 physica server keeping the data and the configuration on the server intact.?

If you have lost your "admin" account password, it can be recovered using the "pwadmin" account as documented at the following link:

If you have lost your "pwadmin" password as well, you'll need to open a TAC case and get a "DMS 5.1 pwadmin reset" ISO image via TAC. You can then boot the appliance with the provided CD to reset the "pwadmin" password, then login as "pwadmin" and reset the "admin" password from there.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

It's real easy to create a new one and, in fact, it's too easy. I say that because multiple IDs are a PIA. The problem is that anything obtained from the iTunes Store is PERMANENTLY associated with the ID that was used to obtain the item(s). iTunes items can not be transferred from one ID to another and IDs can not be merged.
The problem arises when you want to update an app. If you're doing it from iTunes on your computer, you must log out and back in to get to the correct ID. Then you update and log out/in again to get back to where you started. It's slightly easier if you update from the iPad/iPod device as there is no need to log out/in BUT you still need the correct password for the appropriate ID. Of course, with a disabled ID, the problem is much worse!
A replacement Apple ID makes sense ONLY if you wish to start out absolutely brand new with zero iTunes Store purchases.
If you're really butting your head aginst a wall and you're reasonably close to an Apple Store, my suggestion is that you make an appointment with the resident "Genius" and get his/her help.
One last thought... If your brother actually got a human on the phone to dispute the charges, go there and explain the problem. Of course, if Apple did not accept his explanation of what occurred, that could be the whole issue. Apple believes that money is owed on the account!

A while back I had to set up a second apple ID in order to use the iCloud. So now I have two (annoying), and from what I'm reading on forums, this has happened to many people and you still can't merge accounts. But I digress.
Apparently the apps in question were purchased on one apple ID, but the phone had the other apple ID set within the app store. The store, it seems, will only update the apps if you're logged in as the account that initially purchased the apps. So it means going to Settings > Store > Log out, then log back in with the other ID. Annoying. But at least I know, now, what's going on.
The password, it seems, was right all along (since I have the same password for both IDs). Too bad the phone's error message told me the password was incorrect, instead of saying something more useful like "This apple ID is not authorized to update this app." Or ... something like that. Apparently I've been chasing down the wrong solution due to the wrong error message being given.

This is the OS X Server 10.6 forum, and the server software isn't usually found on MacBook Pro systems — I'll guess that you're really not running the server software here. (I mention this because resetting the administrative passwords with OS X Server software installed can be quite different...)
If you have a second administrative login, you can use that.
If you don't.... If you're running 10.6, boot the installer DVD and use the Utilities menu to reset your password.
If you're running 10.7 or 10.8, here are some official instructions and also see this or this for some related sequences.
