Reseting iPod 30 gb video

Hey If i reset my iPod will i lose all of the songs on there

If your reset, you will not lose your songs. But if you do a restore, then the disk on the iPod will be erased, and will need resynching from iTunes.

  • Itunes won't recognize ipod and videos gone

I have a 30GB Video Ipod and itunes won't recognize it. I have to keep putting the music files back in and converting them. Also the Movie and TV Shows I bought disappeared. I have a Windows XP Home Edition, and itunes 7. I downloaded itunes about 4 or 5 months ago, it that helps. My ipod shows up in my computer though. I want to know:
    1. How can I get itunes to recognize my ipod
    2. How do I get itunes to keep and remember my files
    3. How do I get my videos back?
    4. Which version of itunes should I get and how do I get it?

  • Ipod touch 4 i can no longer watch movies, transferred to the ipod, on videos app it simply says loading and then stops. On my ipad mini with older ios it still works.

Ipod touch 4 i can no longer watch movies, transferred to the ipod, on videos app it simply says loading and then stops. On my ipad mini with older ios it still works. So how can I fix this I have tried converting videos into different formats but it will not work.
Is IOS 8 really appropriate with Ipod Touch 4, if the older Ipods do not have the capability then why are we prompted to install new operating systems.
    Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all videos and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • ITunes keeps saying that my 60GB iPod with Video is corrupted when it's not

I have an 60GB iPod with Video that iTunes keeps saying is corrupted when I connect it to my MacBook Pro. Although it seems to only happen after using it for more than a short amount of time before syncing it. I just watched a 5 minute video after I ejected my iPod and when I synced it after that, iTunes did not say it was corrupted. Although when I used it for over 3 hours earlier today and synced it, iTunes said it was corrupted. When iTunes says it is corrupted, I eject the iPod and resync it, and it's always fine the second time. This issue has been ongoing for a month or two now and it's starting to get annoying. I bought the iPod last June.

it can be some corrupted files or bad sectors on the HD of your iPod, see doing the following helps
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • IPod 60 video not working

Yesterday a friend wanted to see a show I had downloaded (and already viewed on the iPod). I selected the show and it flipped to the black screen while trying to load, but then went back to the selection menu. I tried to view all the shows that had worked fine in the past but ALL failed to load.
    What could be the problem?
By the way, the rest of the programs work and the audio/songs are fine - the thumbnails load for each song. It seems the video portion of the iPod is unable to either find the video or load it.

  • Ipod componant video cable.

Hi, i just got my ipod componant video cable and dock, and it worked fine untill i was messing around with my ipod and switched the tv signal thing to PAL(whatever that is) then had switched it back and no i get no video i just get lines and fuzz and snow and stuff on the screen, i get audio but no video, please help me.

NTSC is the tv broadcast format used in North America. PAL is the tv broadcast format used throughout most of the world. That answers your first question.
Here is what I would try. Reset your iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.
Then after your iPod comes back to life, open the Videos menu and then go to the Settings menu.
Make sure your settings are as follows:
    TV Out: Off
    TV Signal: NTSC
    Fullscreen: Off
    Captions: Off
Now plug in your cable to the docking port and connect to the tv. If you are still in the video settings menu, you should see the TV Out item change to On. If not change it to ON.
Now try to play a video.
I suspect that if you change to PAL from NTSC or vice-versa while the cable is still plugged in that the output actually is not getting changed.

  • I reset iPod Touch (4G) and now everything is gone!

    Hi all,
Last night, my iPod Touch (4th gen.) froze, which rarely happens, so I reset it.  I probably didn't mean to do that, but that's what I did.  Driving to work this morning, I see that there are no songs and no videos (I have about 3500 songs in my library).  My apps are there and my emails are there.
I'm not worried if I can easily sync when I get home (everything's backed up and everything's in iTunes), but can someone tell me what happened?  I thought a reset wasn't supposed to delete data.  I'm a little worried.
Thanks for any help or comfort you can provide!

If this was the reset you did:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Then it should not have deleted the music. However, the freezing may have been an indication that there is was something corrupt on the iPod.  I would restore the iPod from backup. Make sure that auto-syncing when connected is turned off otherewise iTunes will make a new backup and delete the old one.

  • TS2771 Reset ipod 4 and still cannot get speaker to work... with headphones it works, but without headphones, nothing.  Apple reset it and said hardware problem, but nothing else.. Any ideas??

Any ideas to get speaker on ipod touch to work.. took to Apple store, for them to wipe it out,to confirm what I said is correc... they said Hardware Issue, and nee a new one, b/c they have no idea.
    Works with headphones in???

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem (you may have done these)
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Can't write to iPod 5G (Video)

A few days ago my iPod (5g Video, with version 1.3 firmware) wasn't working properly so I used iTunes on a different computer to "restore" it to its original state. Now I cannot use my computer (Arch, KDE 4.4.5, Amarok 2.3.1, libgpod 0.7.93-1) to put music on it anymore. Amarok will start to write to it, and even go up a variable amount of %, but then it will freeze. I have to hard reset my iPod to get it unfrozen again.
However I can use the other computer that has iTunes to put music on my iPod and it will work.
But this is extremely inconvenient (and irritating). Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

    ok
In auto mode, when changes are made in itunes they are not replicated on the ipod... despite the fact that itunes tells me that it has updated. On a couple of occasions it tells me that if I switch from manual to auto I will blank my ipod and the library of 4 or so thousand songs will re-install.
In manual mode I can manipulate the order of songs on the ipod but when I disconect it reverts to the running order that was present before the sync. Or to put it another way, the file transfer protocols that are normally used during the sync process are not functioning normally.
I also can't get the ipod to play any of the music purchased from apple. Though I suspect that this a different matter.

  • I purchased a movie, i selected it to sync, i watched itunes copy to my ipod, it shows up in itunes under "on this ipod", but does not appear on ipod under videos app.

    to recap:
i purhased a movie (SD version of Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone) through the itunes store.
in itunes, under my ipod, i checked next to movie to indicate that i wanted it to sync
in itunes, when i checked the movie, the amount of space for video grew, as expected
    i sync'ed my ipod,
i watched the progress bar as itunes told me it was copying the movie
    no errors were reported
in itunes, under the "On this iPod" the movie says it's there
    in itunes
on my ipod, under video, i do not see the movie
when i search my ipod for "harry" nothing come up
kinda feeling like i just threw $9.99 in the trash.

What happens when you try to redownload it directly to your iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT1339 Trying to reset iPod (classic 2nd generation)

when trying to reset iPod (4gb 2nd gen) i get a picture of a frowny face iPod and instructions to contact support.  I plug the USB cable in, try to reset using iTunes, and my ipod is not recognized by computer (itunes or in My Computer).  Any help?

Since different models of iPod work in different ways, you may be better off creating a post in the iPod nano forum. In there will be other users who know how to reset a nano. (I don't, I have a Classic and a Touch.)
However, in the meantime, try this page http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/nano2gen/ which is the start of the troubleshooting/reset procedure for a nano 2nd generation.

  • Itunes/Ipod Touch Video Playback Problem

    Hi all!
I am asking all you Ipod guru's for some help and insights, as I am getting slightly frustrated...
    Background:
For a project at work I am trying to set up a video podcast feed with video's we have created for our customer.
The idea is that everyone at upcoming management conference will receive a Ipod Touch, with some easy explanation on how to -through a feed- download all our video's for them.
For that purpose I have set up a testfeed (checked and doublechecked) to get the videos into Itunes.
The feed works, the channels and videos show up under Podcasts and the videos are playable in Itunes (latest update) with no problems.
    Now the problems start:
When I connect an Ipod Touch, check manual syncing (I don't want to touch what is already on there), and drag the videos to the Ipod, the videos only show up under the 'recently added' category. The channel does not even show, and even though they are videos.
I can play the videos from there in Itunes, and they work fine.
When I eject the Ipod, and then want to watch the videos, I have to really search for them: they are under Music (!!), under 'recently added', and only play the sound, not the video (although the first frame of the video is shown).
To try and circumvent the problem I directly imported the video into Itunes, instead of through the feed (although that totally negates the whole idea to begin with), the videos nicely show up under the Video category in Itunes.
When dragged from there to the Ipod, all works. As I then want to see those newly added videos on the Ipod, they NOW promptly show up in the video category, and play perfectly, with image and sound, and fullscreen.
So, the problem is not with the video itself. What am I doing wrong?
(nothing has changed in the videos at all from the beginning of the process, the videos were already Ipod-ready)
Any thoughts, where do the problems originate? Can I do something in the feed already, or...?
Any ideas will be most welcome!
Thank you very much in advance.
    Peter
P.S. it's also impossible to delete the uploaded video's that ended in the 'recently added' category

Since I've read similar threads on this, I have to think it's a bug.
What if you create a playlist in iTunes with the Podcast's name on it?
I can't really think of any other way around this until it gets fixed.
Oh, and send Apple feedback on this issue - it will help bring it to their attention.

  • IPod 5G video + Belkin TuneTalk stereo recording don't function

iPod 5G video 30Gb + Belkin TuneTalk stereo recording don't function on firmware 1.2.1
every 48 second it skips for 1 - 2 seconds in HQ MODE

NOTE here on the discussion from januari 2007 !!!
When I record in stereo, it skips through out the recording. I'll be listening to what I have recorded, and I'll notice that chunks of about 3 seconds are missing from the recording
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)   G5

actually a very similar problem here. the recording was 35 min and it jumps and skips down to about 7 min. I thought it was a problem with the wav file that was recorded so I converted it to mp3 to and the same problem.
i do have firmware 1.2.1 but had never successfully used it before this attempt. did you ever get any resolution on this?

  • ITunes not recognising iPod's video capabilities

When iTunes is up and the iPod is connected and I go into the options for the iPod, the options in the Video tab are shaded out. Whenever I try dragging a video onto the iPod it says they can not be viewed on this iPod. I KNOW this is a 5th Gen iPod with video capabilities.

You need to add the video to iTunes first, and then synch with the iPod. I don' think you can simply drag a video directly to the iPod.
