Resetting a backup

A customer of mine has a backup of the oradata directory
and some configuration directories like dcm, opmn, Apache.
Due to a theft, they lost their machine.
They got a new one.
What do they need to do to be able to restore the backup ?
Is just installing the iAS, with the necessairy patches to
9.0.2.6, enough (this was the verions of the backuped iAS) ?
Thanks a lot for any comment or pointers.
Filip.

I would use documents in metalink such as
How to restore a cold backup of a Portal IAS 9.0.2 on another machine 217187.1
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=217187.1
to guide your restoration process.

  • Reseting the Backup password

Hey I forgot my password to my encrypted backup and while I still have everything on my Ipod I wanted to reset my backup so I can still use it and not be asked for a password, I don't know what I need to do to reset my backup settings so I can backup my Ipod so I can be able to successfully use it again when I would actually need to retrieve something. If someone can tell me how to do so I be very thankful

Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

  • I want reset my backup password

i want reset my backup password

If iCloud Backup is set to Off in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, it means that your iPod will not automatically back up to iCloud, but will automatically back up to your computer when you sync.  The only way you would risk losing data is if you have never synced with iTunes before.  If that's the case, you have to take special precautions to avoid losing data, as outlined in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.

  • Reset my backup password

I need to reset my backup password becasue I forget, please help me out to do this.
    Thank You

If you could reset a lost passcode, anyone could, creating a major security breach.  Your only alternative is to restore the phone as new, and start over.  If you REALLY need to protect your backups with a passcode, write it down and DON'T LOSE IT!!

    Hi nikkiyoung,
If the reset is not helping, you may need to try the recovery mode.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
    5. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
    6. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
Note you will want a backup as, "Recovery mode erases your device and restores it".
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

  • After trying to reset the backup on my iphone, it is no longer responding. it's stck on a blank loading screen and i cant do anything on it.

After trying to reset the backup on my phone, it is no longer responding. ios7.1 was downloaded but all my info was deleated so i tried restoring it and while it was loading, the screen froze. it reaches a certain point, shuts down, and starts all over again. i cant turn it off or do anything with it. how can i atleast get it to function again or leave the loading screen?

    TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS ARE THESE:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears then let go.
Backup, reset, restore on icloud or iTunes or restore as new.
Place the phone into recovery mode by doing this
If this fails to fix the problem make an appointment and visit and Apple store or an authorised service provider

  • How to reset iTunes backup configuration for iPad and iPhone?

After buying a new Mac, I migrated my settings (because there were w a lot of apps) and generally everything's working. Except when I try to sync my iPad or iPhone, I get the following error:
iTunes could not backup the (device) ... because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPad
    A few notes
It does work with a new account, just not this one, so there's some setting somewhere that probably needs to go
    I did repair disk permissions
I tried to reset preferences via mv *iTunes* to a backup folder in <user>/Library/Preferences
There are no backups on this machine (if you go to iTunes / Settings / Devices the "device backups" list is empty)
It still feels like something is pointing somewhere invalid, but I have no idea how to reset it.

The problem turned out to be a symlink to a folder that pointed nowhere where the backups were stored.
I seriously doubt many people are going to run into this issue, but hey, there you go, another thing to watch out for are symlinks if you transfer your settings to a new machine.
The reason before was that I was clearing out space on a SSD, and backups took up enough room.

  • How to get back WhatsApp data after hard reset. Backup disappeared

So after suffering phone issues for months but being a new mum and having no time to reset my phone to factory default, so I could send it away, I finally last night thought I'd backed up everything, ready to reset!
All my photos and videos are on google cloud and my 64gb SD card too. I'd backed up my SMS with an app and backed up all app data to Google. I'd also used the Sony backup/restore app to backup all my apps and I thought I'd backed up WhatsApp in its settings/chats/backup.
I know WhatsApp makes a backup at 4am every night in case you reinstall it and so I thought I was fool proofed and reset/erased internal memory.
On reinstaling, Google automatically started downloading apps again, which I didn't get, as I thought my backup from the Sony phone app would restore everything so i cancelled that.
WhatsApp hadn't installed yet so I installed it from the play store and it said it could restore my data, so I said yes! BUT it restored a backup from June 26th 2015, not from the last day as I'd have thought from 4am backups!
So I uninstalled WhatsApp and went to restore from the app backup file, which I could see had a backup of WhatsApp from 1st August 2015. Prob was it kept crashing on restoring the opera browser. It completed once but WhatsApp hadn't installed. So I ran it over and over. It still crashed on Opera.
So I used Es file explorer to unhide files and found the Backup on my SD card with 1st August and inside could see WhatsApp. I cut the opera backup file from the back up folder and pasted it somewhere safe to see if the restore would not run. But when I went back to the Backup/restore app and clicked restore, my 1st August back up folder had disappeared! I went back to Es file explorer and sure enough, the folder was gone from the apps backup folders!
It isn't in any recycle bin and now I think I've lost a month's worth of WhatsApp messages, which are really important to me! When I get chance, I'm going to put the SD card in my Mac and see if I can find the file there but has anyone got any advice on why the folder disappeared, when I only cut the opera backup from the folder?

P.s, all hidden files are shown in es file explorer as this backup folder was hidden originally. It has a '.' in front. So I'm pretty sure the folder it's gone, but as I've not erased my phone again, shouldn't the folder be somewhere in my SD card still and how can I find it using my Mac?

  • IPad 2 factory reset and backup recover issue.p

I had to perform a factory reset and recover on my iPad 2. iTunes only found a backup file from April of 2014. However I backup my iPad every month. I really need to recover my notes, contacts and pictures Without losing my current updates. I found a more recent backup on an external drive but iTunes overwrote it when I followed the self help instructions.  Also there are 4 Apple products being backed up on my PC and I do not know how to tell them apart. Has anyone ever had this issue and know of a valid resolutions?   Any assistance would be greatly appreciate.
    Thank you!

Hi Since ios 7 when you charge your iPhone or iPad it Automatically backs up To icloud you can do almost everything over your WiFi. So you should have a recent backup. Cheers Brian

  • Resetting from backup

How can I reset my iPhone 4S from my backup , I started having problems sending messages when I upgraded to 7.0.04 IOS version.  I just don't know how to fix it up . Could you please give me the steps on how to reset it from my backup. What if I didn't back it up with iCloud what's gonna happen? Is there another way of fixing it. Thanks for your support.

You can restore from backup using iTunes. What you cannot do is downgrading.

  • Will Time Machine (TM) reset my backups if I upgrade my internal HD ???

    Hi everyone,
I am upgrading my internal HD (160GB HD) on my MBP to a larger one (WD 320GB HD). However, I will be upgrading it while having my system cloned; for this reason, I would like to know, if and when I connect my computer to the TM HD, I will be risking to lose any of my previous backups? Or, will TM recognize my system because I had it upgraded from a clone? Does it make any difference if I backup my information and instal the system from the beginning (Mac OS X DVDs), I mean to TM previous backups?
Any help will be truly appreciated.

I had a problem on the other side, the USB backup drive. TM re-started my backup from scratch after I moved the drive! Here's what happened:
Started with Time Machine backing up to USB hard drive connected directly to MacBook Pro. Had about three months of backups.
Moved USB hard drive to Airport Extreme as a network drive. Mounted drive to MacBook Pro. Since it still had the same name, Time Machine recognized it and started backing up to the drive in its new location (on AEBS).
In this scenario, I would have hoped that my backup would simply continue, but it started over on the day when I moved it to the AEBS!
BEING ABLE TO MOVE FROM USB TO WIRELESS WOULD BE SO GREAT:
For long backups I could connect it directly to my MacBook Pro. Or even take the drive with me while traveling (for backups/restore while away), then return to wireless backups when I get home.
Has anyone had a different experience?

  • How do I reset the backup assistant PIN? I can not find my old one

This is a work phone, they bought me a new one and no ones knows the PIN for back up assistance

Thank you for reaching out to us, cplsargent. We can help with Backup Assistant. When you access the Backup Assistant application, as soon as it asks for your pin, there should be a link that asks if you have forgotten your pin. You may need to scroll the screen a bit down to see this link. This will provide the pin needed to recover your contacts. What phone are you using?

  • TS2529 how do you reset your backup password if forgotten?

    l

    You don't.
If on a Mac, and you elected to save such to your Keychain, you can recover it from your Keychain. Otherwise, you can't.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.

  • How to recover contacts from Iphone after reset without backup?

    Hey guys.
Bad timing, bad luck and an annoying situation.  My computer had a meltdown so all my data was wiped.  Then my phone was on a continual boot logo with the apple screen.  The computer is back, the iphone is back with new software.  I have lost everything on the phone when it was reinstalling the software.
Is there a way of getting into the harddrive of the phone, getting the data (Really want contacts) and undeleting them?  Hope it is possible but googling has left me with little hope
    Cheers
    Tom

I thought as much.  I won't go into details but the hard drive with backup wasn't looked after by a friend and I haven't had time to buy another one yet.  Such is life.
Dont even ask me why didn't I have backup of the hard drive or my head might explode!

Major Update: The G-Keys can now be edited without recompiling by editing shell scripts at "/usr/share/g15daemon/macros/"
Each button has it's own script file named by it's label (e.g. to edit the functionality of G1, open the script named G1.) The button will try to execute the scripts as programs, so make sure they are executable (chmod +x) and as long as the name remains the same, if you want to replace the files with something different, know that the arguments currently given to the files ($1 and $2) are ($1)on/off and ($2)0-2  (where 0 is M1 and 2 is M3)
To download the updated sources, go here (only the g15daemon source/patch was updated). This thread's OP has been updated.
