Resetting after shutdown... please help!

my 2nd hand g5 is behaving funny
after working on it for a while and saving files on the desktop i shut down, and then restarted the computer today and it somehow went back to a previous state - similar to that of when i got it - in other words the files on the desktop was gone (i did do some backups..) what could the problem be? running os x 10.4.11.... cheers carl

Did you rename your home folder by any chance? The one with the house icon. If you did follow these steps:

ok so i recently updated my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to the ios6 and now for some odd reason when ever i try to join my original network it won't let me it just keeps kicking me of, for my iPhone 4 it will just put me to 3G and my iPad 2 get no internet but the internet works perfect on my mac book pro which is also updated fully and i have tried reseting the router if you know what i can do please help.

This worked for me on iPhone 4S and iPad 2:
Settings -> General -> Restore -> Restore network settings
After the device restart, I logged in my wifi network without any problem.

oon arrival turned the phone on, received a slow acting black background with the apple sign visual, but never moved from that......... So tried a reset still the same just left looking at the apple sing in the middle if the screen,makes it there for 5 mins but still never turn on completely,,,,,
again I tried,,,,,, again I tried a reset, then started to received lines of white writing, about 4-5 lines slowly like it was being typed, which stateed INCORRECT SHUTDOWN, ????????? then took out my MacBook air, to connect to ITunes to see whaypt I could do,

Videos NOR Music will load after SYNC, Please HELP

Hello everyone,
I have an iPad and Recently bought RIO to watch on the iPad.
After it downloaded I could not find it anywhere! So I synced to my iTunes and there it was....after the iPad was done syncing I ejected it....
And NOW the Music folder NOR the iPod apps will open.
In my setting my iPad shows that there is 0 movies and 0 songe.....but when I connect it to my iTunes....it shows all the music and videos are on my iPad!
Someone PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I just wanted to get the question out ASAP....
So here is the breakdown
My 2 year old wanted to watch something new. So i decided to use my iPad and look for a new movie. He saw the preview of RIO and wanted to watch it.
So i downloaded it and once it was finished I went to my main page and opened the videos icon. All my videos were there, but when I looked for RIO it was not there. I even went to the search page and only angrey birds same up (RIO EDITION).
So i was like DANG....walked downstairs and plugged my iPad inot my computer. I opened iTunes and proceeded to transfer purchases. So RIO transfered over to my iTunes on my PC.
Once it was complete, I clicked the eject button and "tried" to open the videos app.....Nothing happened. It went the videos black background screen for like 7 seconds then it automatically exits and returns to the home screen. I was like...WHAT??
I tried and tried again with no luck.
I walked back to my computer and tried to resync and remove all videos and music over and over and over with no luck!
So at the moment, when i try to open either the video or the ipod apps...they just sit at the background screen for about 7 seconds then shuts down and returns to the home screen.
When i go to my settings in my iPad it says there are NO songs and NO videos on my iPad.
When I plug it into my iTunes, it shows that I have 9gb of free space on my 64gb iPad....1180 songs and like 8 movies and 22 tv shows...mostly kids stuff...
So I hope that helps clarify my problem.
I have had this once before, but it fixed itself, I was at work and a few hours later everything was working!
But NOT this time, its just not wanting to play at all

Can't Install after effects please help

i have adobe cs5 master collection and every thing was fine untill my computer crashes due to virus i finally i install windows 7 on my computer.
and when i try to install my adobe cs5 master collection on my new os every thing installed except after effects and i am getting an error message.?
can you please help me out to install after effects on my new os.? the error message is some of the features are missing.? thats why after effects installation can't be completed.?

Serious Issues after update, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Two nights ago i did a software update. Shut the computer down everything was fine. Im not sure the software update worked properly. When i restarted the computer later that evening, all i got was the gray screen with the apple. A friend was searching forums for me over the internet while we were trying to fix it. Did the CTRL OPTION R P thing and that didnt work. Did the CTRL S and that didnt work. Next day went and bought a Snow Leapord cd. After three hours the status bar moved appx 3/4 of an inch. Took it to apple. They wiped the Hardrive clean and reinstalled Snow Leapord to it. Now it restarts and operates. However, it takes about 15 min for it to start up and get to the desktop and it runs TERRIBLY slow. It has a 500g hard drive that was put in 2 weeks ago. It also has 2g of RAM. After taking it to apple it is only showing 1.5G of RAM after the wiped the hard drive. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! Everything was working fabulous prior to 2 nights ago.

Well I just rewiped the hardrive clean and reinstalled snow leapord. IT WORKED!!!!!! Computer is running fast as could be, start ups in less than 30 seconds, no lagging. Im really happy as i bought this computer from a good friend and its less than a week since ive had it. I think ill just live with the ram still showing 1.5g. I think ill wait and just go get 2 4g sticks when i get around to it that way It will be as fast as possible and ill be using the ports to their full potential.

I have just bought Macbook pro. I started using it and everything seemed to be fine, but when i tried to install online game, i had to choose program to open instal and i have chosen wrong (script editor).
I cant restore it, i cant open any program which is exe. I wonder if there is a chanse to reset all the settings and start over again.
I use ipod and i can restore all default settings, so i hope i can do the same on computer too.

Hi!
A Mac can´t open files that are .exe, because Mac OS differs from Windows. They require Windows on a pc and your computer is of another brand.
You need Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion or Boot Camp to run those files.

Syncserver fails, reset does nothing - please help!

I regularly sync my iPhone to iCal, using iTunes, however the last few days i've been unable to sync either direction.
I've hard-reset my phone, rebooted, reset the sync server, and all other options I can think of (overwrite phone, etc etc).
Syncserver basically sits there and loops, and the only message I get is this:

I cannot reset my iPhone please help!

hi, i have been trying to reset my iPhone lately, but cannot, as when i try to reset it it asks me for my i cloud password but I cannot enter that, because it has the wrong email. So i went into Settings>Icloud to try and change the email, but then it asked me to agree to the Icloud terms and conditions. So i clicked agree, and then it crashed. I tried this again and again but every time it crashed. I thought that was just a bug so i updated to the latest version (IOS 8.1.1) and tried again but still it crashed.
I thought maybe i should try it from my computer, so i plugged my iPhone into it and clicked restore on iTunes, then is said please turn off find my iPhone in Settings>Icloud. So i went into the Icloud settings again and it turns out i could not change them until i have agreed the terms and conditions.
please help i have been trying to fix this all week

Is the "wrong email" an email address that you have used in the past? Or is this a 2nd hand phone that has someone else's email address registered in iCloud?
If it was your email address you will have to temporarily change your Apple ID back to that old address at https://appleid.apple.com. You can then log out of your phone by going to settings/icloud, change your ID back to the new one, and log back into iCloud on your phone.
If it is someone else's Apple ID that you are being asked about you will have to get that person to release Activation Lock on the phone. This is an antitheft feature, to prevent stolen phones from being used.

Writing this on my old p1.
I just flashed my Neo 2 865PE to 1.4 and now it wont boot!
On my bracket on the back the top right one is red rest are green..
What now? Am I screwed? Nothing but problems with this MSI board I tell you....

Get 1.3 from the website if that's what your board came with originally. If it's not, get the one that came with your board. The reason I say that is that is, at least for me, the flashing program says there is a Bootblock Mismatch with all other bios' except what came with my motherboard. ?(
Make that backup disk and remane that bios file for your board to AMIBOOT.ROM. and have it in.
Unplug your power. Take out your RAM. Clear the Cmos via the jumper, I believe it's JBAT1. Put your RAM back in. Then power up. Maybe have someone turn on the power while you hold down the Ctrl + Home Key. You really have to be fast. When you get your floppy, the board will read from it and restore your bios - then beep 4 times. It will then reboot. If you're lucky, all will be ok and you can go in and reset your settings in the Cmos.
I want to make this suggestion to anyone who flashes their bios': Have that backup disk in while you flash. If the flash goes bad, when you hit the reset button, immediately the boot block will hunt for that AMIBOOT.ROM file. If you shut down your power with the power button, your system won't power back up. You will swear it's dead. You won't get it back until you unplug your power cord, clear your cmos, reset your RAM, power back on and IMMEDIATELY hold down the Ctrl + Home Key. I really don't know what is going wrong with these bios releases, but for some boards, they appear to kill the board. I'm convinced that I will never be able to use any other bios but 1.3. There is a glitch in the chip evidently. With the bios that came programmed on the chip, you can, seemingly, get your board back. At least, that's been true for me.
Just keep trying. I believe you can get your board back. The boards are really nice but really finicky.
