Resetting default name/location for published SWFs - how?
I have several FLA files that have had the default name and location for the published SWF changed from the default (which normally saves the published SWF with the same file name as the originating FLA and in the same location). I want to use these FLA files as the basis for new animations but every time I create a new version, I have to remember to go to File -> Publish Settings... and manually change the file name to the new version.
Is there any way to reset the default save settings (without changing the rest of the publish settings)?
I'm currently using Flash CS5.5.
This has always been on my wishlist but Flash will only reliably save, as you said, to a relative local location. If you specify a fill location (C:\this\that\there.swf), and then open a new SWF and publish it, you will find exactly what you did, that it doesn't publish where you told it.
The only way I got around this was sticking very closely to relative paths. Flash doesn't have a problem if you publish to a location like: ./../bin/my.swf
If you point it directly to a fill path without using a relative path, you'll need to hit browse and repoint the publish to that location every time you open the file. Annoying, I know, and I hope it gets fixed real soon.

How to set default size for published SWF in Catalyst CS5.5
I create a 800*600 pixel project in Catalyst CS5.5 and published it as .swf.
But when I opened the published .swf, the default size is smaller than 800*600. I have to resize it by myself.
So is there any method that I can set the default size for published .swf?
Thank you guys! Best regards.
NickWhen you start new Flash Catalyst project, you have the option to enable resizing
This setting is enabled by default.
If you need to change this later, you can go into Modify > Artboard settings.
Now when you publish your project, the width and height will be used instead.
As to manually editting the HTML file, there are 3 tag sets that define the width and height of the project (to handle various browsers). You will need to adjust the values in each of those tag sets. You should only need to do this if you can't republish the file.

Very simple question, how do you configure windows 8.1 to use a SD card / external drive as the default install location for software applications? Primarily interested in apps installed from the windows store. This should be available in the settings
charm within the windows store. This must have been overlooked in the development of windows 8.1 or is a bug.

The registry method does not work with 8.1. I found this out the hard way. Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand. -
SBS 2011 GPO for changing the default save location for Word/Excel 2013 not working
So this is a strange one. I've got an SBS 2011 server that's the only domain controller in the org. I've created a GPO to change the default save location for Excel 2013 and Word 2013 using the Office 2013 ADMX files which were installed to the PolicyDefinitions
folder.
The GPO (U-Office2013 Default Save Location) only contains:
1. User Configuration - Microsoft Excel 2013/Excel Options/Save - Default file location - Enabled - Z:\
2. User Configuration - Microsoft Word 2013/Word Options/Advanced/File Locations - Default file location - Enabled - Z:\
The GPO is linked at the OU that contains my users for my SBS organization.
When I do a gpupdate /force on a windows 7 system with office2013 installed, and then run a gpresult/rsop, the policy appears to be applied successfully as it lists my GPO under the Applied GPOs list on the workstation:
Applied GPOs
Default Domain Policy dyndns.local AD (24), Sysvol (24)
U-Office2013 Default Save Location domain.local/SBSusers AD (6), Sysvol (6)
In the gpresult report, the applied settings appear under:
Administrative Templates
Extra Registry Settings
software\policies\microsoft\office\15.0\excel\options\defaultpath Z:\ U-Office2013 Default Save Location
software\policies\microsoft\office\15.0\word\options\doc-path Z:\ U-Office2013 Default Save Location
BUT, when I go to the workstation, and check office->options-Save-default file path, the path has not been changed to what the GPO is pushing.
The strange thing is that in my test environment running 2008R2 server and Win7 with Office 2013 and identical settings the default save location is applied and works as expected.
Any ideas?
I've already tried re-installing the ADMX templates and re-created the GPO's several times.
I should also note that other GPO's on the SBS2011 server such as the folder redirection GPO work as expected on the same windows 7 system. It just appears to be an issue with the default save location in office2013 and other Office 2013 related GPOs which
utilize the recently added ADMX template that don't seem to be working for me.
Thanks in advance.Hi Justin,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried several different user accounts (all have local admin privileges to the workstation) with the same issue. The default save path does not get applied from the GPO to any of the users i've tried. Here's the steps I took
per your suggestion:
1. log on as a user who has never logged onto the workstation before.
2. run gpupdate /force (entered y for yes when prompted to log off).
3. Log back in as the user and open Office and check the default save path. It has not been changed to match the GPO setting.
4. Check rsop to see if the policy was applied. Rsop states the gpo was applied successfully.
I have attached the gpsvc.log file from a the session described above. The GPO Guid in question is: {DC3C93EC-7C28-48E9-BA38-FCA1E275A207}. Its common name is: U-Word 2013 Default Save Location. It's only setting is:
Policies\Administrative Templates\Policy definitions(admx files retrieved from central store\Microsoft Word 2013\Word Options\Advanced\File Locations\Default File Location = Enabled\Documents = F:\

Using OneDrive as default save location for project
I installed VS on 2 different computers and want to develop from both of them at times. Either my desktop of laptop. Therefore I want to store the project files on the Onedrive folders that are mapped on my local machine.
I have changed the default save location for Projects and also the other Registry Settings in HKCU... to onedrive/projects folder. But once I create the project from on PC and try to open it from another I am getting the following error.
the file xxxx.csproj : error : The project file could not be loaded. The filed cannot be accessed by the system.Hello waddat,
I haven't test this issue about onedrive mapped folder. But may I ask this question: Does the location exist in your PC or is it just a mapped virtual drive?
In my point of view, when you tried to open a project from your folder, it is possible that the file is being used by onedrive synchronous process. Or Visual Studio cannot find the specific file because the file has not been uploaded/downloaded to the path
you want to search?
I don't recommend you set the default location to OneDrive folder, it is not reliable for you to do this because the synchronous process of OneDrive is not certain by us.
If you want to store your projects online, the recommend way is to use Visual Studio Online
http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/what-is-visual-studio-online-vs.aspx
If you want to store projects using OneDrive, please try create your projects on local drive and upload your file to OneDrive and then download it from some other sides to us. I think this is the best practise for you.

Barry

Default File Location for Word using GPO
I have just launched Office 2013 for my users. Those users access Word and Excel via Terminal Servers. So, I need ways to set the defaults for these products so I don't have to touch each users login/machine. I have been
able to use Group Policy for everything I need except in Word and the default file location. I have tried the GPO administrative template for Office 2013 and went to Microsoft Word 2013 > Word Options > Advanced > File Locations and set
the path to N:\
Did the gpupdate /force and nothing changed. However, Group Policy will set
it in Excel.
So then I tried using the registry template in GPO. Here I used HKEY_CURRENT_USER with path to
Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options and the value name is DefaultPath
Value data is N:\
That doesn't work either.
HOW are we suppose to set defaults to our network in Word.
I have also did the entry in GPO to "block signing into Office" None Allowed
We don't and won't be using SkyDrive in our type of businessHi,
Based on my tested in my environment, I went to set the Default File Location via group policy.
Word: Microsoft Word 2013/Word Options/Advanced/File Location/ and change the Default File Location
Excel: Microsoft Excel 2013/Excel Options/Save and change Default file location
Both of them works fine. As you said " However, Group Policy will set it in Excel." Does it mean that you set Word and Excel via two group policies at the same time, but it only works in Excel?
If it is, please try to re-download and change the
Word ADMX to test.
If the issue still exist, please try to use Gpresult command Or RSOP to check group policy result on client.
When troubleshooting group policy issues, we use the gpresult command to confirm whether GPOs are really applied to the client (computer/user). You can run the following command in a command prompt:
gpresult /z > c:\policy.txt
For more details about the usage of command Gpresult, please refer to the following link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490915.aspx
When you read the output, the c:\policy.txt file in this sample, please
examine the results of the report to find the answers to these questions.
Does the report list the particular GPO as applied?
Is the setting listed in the report?
Is the GPO listed in the Denied List

Default Subinventory/Locator for item during Shipping Transaction-Any API
Hi,
If we need to define a Default subinventory or locator for an item during Shipping Transanction, we are setting it up from Application as follows:
Inventory --> Setup --> Item Transaction Defaults window
Can we define the same setup using any undocumented API? Please let me know if any API can accomplise the same functionality.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
GowriHi Gowri,
if you want to ship the goods from a specific subinventory & locator, then setup a default release rule in Order Management Super User > Setup > Shipping > Picking > Define release rule form. Where you can define the default pick from subinventory & locator. Each time you will try to ship the goods, the system will pick the goods from the subinvetory defined here.

Default output location for Adobe PDF 9.0 printer
Hi there,
Is there a way on Mac OS 10.6.4 with the Adobe PDF 9.0 virtual printer that I can set a default output location?
For example I want to use the print via AppleScript command, and all printed documents would be output to a folder on the desktop (or another location of my choosing)
I know CUPS-PDF does this, but the file size is huge in comparison to what Adobe PDF 9.0 does.
I've looked through the PPD but can't find anything. This can be done in windows by changing a registry key, but I can't find anything for the Mac OS
Thanks in advance and feel free to ask questions if I haven't been clear enoughIf Cups PDF does indeed still work on X.6 the reason for the large size it that they use acrobat version 3 format.
each new version of Acrobat has improved file sizes and compression.
I would simply use cupspdf and open the items in question in Acrobat 9 version and use PDF Optimizer to save in Acrobat 9 format. -
I just upgraded OSX to Mountain Lion and Pages to 4.2, and because OSX is syncing with my iCloud account, when I go to save a new file in Pages it defaults to try to save to my iCloud account rather than giving me the folder structure on my hard-drive that I prefer. It requires two extra steps to save to the proper place in my Documents folder on my hard drive.
Is there a way to reset the default so that when I go to save a new file, the folder structure opens to the last saved folder (like it does in other non-iCloud applications) rather than defaulting to my iCloud, and to do it without just removing documents from my iCloud account entirely?
I checked the Preferences for both Pages and iCloud and found nothing about this. What I meant is turn off Documents and Data in iCloud in OS X. Keep it on on your iOS devices. iCloud will sync documents between the iOS devices and make them available on the iCloud web site, but it won't mess up iWorks' open and save dialog boxes. It also won't assume that you want all your documents in iCloud, which I think is undesirable anyway.
Keep iOS and OS X separate, and use the web site to move files between the two as necessary.
iOS iWork is different from OS X iWork. There are fewer fonts on an iOS device. iOS iWork programs have slightly different feature sets than OS X iWork programs, and the file formats are different. iCloud automatically converts the file format when necessary, but if you make a habit of saving things directly to iCloud, you are limited to the lowest common denominator between the two versions of iWorks. So why would anyone want iWork on the Mac to open and save documents on iCloud by default?
If you want to store files in the cloud and sync them on your Macs, SugarSync is a much better solution. It lets you choose your sync folders, it doesn't make you reorganize your files, it lets you sync all file types, it doesn't convert files to a different format and back, and it stores everything in the cloud, too. Just the simle act of saving a file backs it up and syncs it. I wouldn't live without it. iCloud is best with iTunes purchases and synchronizing Mac settings and iOS files; I woudln't live without it. The two make an unbeatable combination. -
How do I set a default directory location for opening projects?
Hi there.
Using Windows 7.
What I mean is when I click on Open Project I want it to always go to the same location, namely C:\Users\Julian\Desktop\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\6.0\Projects
Each time I try to open a Project it seems to always go to some other random directory in My Docs.
I've looked for this in Preferences but cannot locate it.
Any ideas?I just tested the Open Project function, and it appears to default to the location of the last project you had opened.
That said, I don't recommend saving project, or anything associated with your project, on the C: drive.
Adobe recommends a dedicated drive for video editing, and I've always saved my projects and all associated media on that separate drive. Not a big fan of the "My Documents" folders. Sure you can access them from the desktop, to a degree, but when in the Windows Explorer, stuff is buried too many folder down for my tastes. Makes it difficult to locate files later on.
I have a drive V: for video and will create a New Folder there when starting a new project. The Project gets saved there, as well as an video, audio, graphics, etc., and I do create sub-folders to organize those assets as inside the main folder.
Thanks

How do I change default file location for NON-MUSIC files?
My Laptop's "My Document" folder is on network per the corporate configuration. When I am not on VPN, I can not start iTunes since it looks for files on network.
Also my "My Documents\My Music\iTunes" folder on the network is growing quite large since all *.ipa files are stored there.
Is there any way to point all file locations to my C drive?
ThxApp store files will get put in a subfolder named \Mobile Applications.
The preference files will stay on the C: drive under your user profile.

How do I change the default save location for Preview under Lion?
I have to modify about 200 PDFs.
When I make a duplicate of a PDF in Preview it always suggests saving it on the desktop. Instead I would like it to ask me if I want to save it either where the original file is, or where I saved something last.
Note that Default Folder X doesn't yet work with Preview. And even then it wouldn't solve my problem. What I meant is turn off Documents and Data in iCloud in OS X. Keep it on on your iOS devices. iCloud will sync documents between the iOS devices and make them available on the iCloud web site, but it won't mess up iWorks' open and save dialog boxes. Changing the default data location for iCal calendars
Is there any way to tell iCal to pull its calendar data from a different location other than ~/library/calendars ? I realize that this would probably require some app hacking, but if anyone knows how it would allow me to create an incredibly easy and efficient sync solution that I'd be happy to share. This also goes for apps like Address Book, Mail, etc. All I need to do is tell iCal to look for its "Calendars" folder in, for example, ~/Desktop/Calendars
OK. Move ~/Library/Calendars to your new Drop Box. This will ('cos it is a separate volume) leave a copy in ~/Library, so delete the Calendars folder there.
In terminal you will need a command something like
ln -s /Volumes/Drop\ Box/Calendars/ Library/Calendars
A couple of notes:
the first argument after the -s is the "source" - the folder that is being linked to; the next is the linking file or directory
terminal provides some auto-completion, so type as far as the -s /Vo then press tab and it will fill in as far as the next /, then type Dr and tab again and it should complete the first arg (make sure there is a trailing /) then type the space and Li and tab and then you will have to type in Calendars yourself 'cos terminal can't guess what you want
the last Calendars don't get a trailing /
If it has worked and you use Finder to look at ~/Library/Calendars you should see (apparently) the normal set of calendar files in it. Make sure your Drop Box is read and write accessible by both users.
