Resetting DLM profile

Hi,
I'm on BT Infinity 1 and have been recieving terrible speeds over the first quarter of the year. I used to get speeds of around 30mb download and 9mb upload, now I can only get speeds of around 2mb download and just under 1mb upload. 
At the end of last year my road had some line work done which affected the power, from this my router was affected and my speeds dropped. An engineer was called out to fix the problem, but I believe he didn't restart my DLM profile and so my speed hasn't increased.
Is there anyway to reset the DLM online? Or do I have to call out an engineer?

you need an engineer visit but if your line is stable then the DLM should automatically increase your speed and resuce the noise margin - may take a few weeks though

    Hi, Had a few issues with using telephone extension with hub 5 and speed slowed down which I belive is caused by router resetting and reducing my dlm profile. Hub 5 has now been stable and has not dropped connection for the last seven days since my master socket was moved. How long will it take to get back to the speeds I was getting before problems.
    Also do figures at 9 & 10 below look okay.

    With that attenuation, you should be seeing speeds in the 40's.
    What estimate is given for your line by www.dslchecker.bt.com ?

  • Possible to reset DLM?

    Hi there,
    I know the DLM is automatic but a couple months ago i was forced to reset the router daily for HTTPS websites to work correctly. Because of this my speeds and latency have taken a dive and i believe DLM has kicked in and throttled me as it thinks there is a problem with my line.
    Next door is 20mbps faster than me and has better latency. Speeds that i achieved before me reseting the router daily. 
    I've heard that it's possible to email and engineer or get in contact with a mod here to reset the profile on my line with proof that the router has been stable for 3 days or more. Mines currently at nearly 12 days and would like to see if this is possible at all?

    Looking at the stats your sync speed (62Mbps) is a fairly normal amount under your attainable rate (71Mbps) so it doesn't look like a DLM issue.   DLM would do things to your sync speed, but you should still see a correct attainable rate.  Also, as the SNR is 5.4 that also indicates a fairly normal situation.
    The gap does indicate some interleaving, which will increase the gap between attainable and actual sync speed, and also increase your latency a bit (8ms extra is fairly typical).  That could have been imposed by DLM becuase of errors on the line.  I'm not expert enough to correlate the up time and errors you show to know if  that is excessive errors.  If you posted on Thinkbroadband you would probably get a clearer answer to that.  Come to think of it you would probably need more detail, as what matters is largely the pattern of errors rather than just the overall rate.
    With those figure expect an IP profile of 60Mbps or so, and an actual download rate just below that.  As john46 asked, if you post the speedtest from http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ including the profile from the further daignostic part that will give a bit more information.
    If you see profile and speeds significantly below 60Mbps, disconnect and reconnect the router (not modem) and try again to see if they improve.  Then post them here.

    ok all you can do is wait while the DLM sees your line as stable and your speed should rise automatically normally within a couple of weeks stable connection

  • How to reset firefox profile if it crashes on start (also safe mode)

    Hello,
    I need to know how to make Firefox do a profile reset when it crashes on start even in safe mode. It starts fine with a new profile.
    I had this before today, and then after the 3rd crash report send, a popup offered me a solution to reset my profile while retaining the most important settings. I tried that option and it worked. But I could no longer sync my password with the new sync because of a master password set. I find this a show stopper, so I did a profile restore (mozbackup), I wish I didn't have.
    I now have the same problem again with Firefox crashing, but it no longer offers the popup with a solution by trying safe mode (i did manually doesn't work) or resettting the profile.
    I need to know a command line switch the make Firefox reset the profile while retaining the important data or how to force it show the pop-up.

    Note that a profile created via a reset still can carry over issues because some data is recovered automatically.
    If you use the Profile Manager then you get a completely clean profile and if that works then you can copy files yourself to the new profile or possibly try to identify what is wrong and repair your previous profile.
    You only see button to Reset Firefox on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page and in the Safe Mode startup window if you use the profile that is marked as Default=1 in the profiles.ini file (Profile Manager).
    If you do not have the "Reset" button then either use the Profile Manager to create a new profile or use the Profile Manager to start with the current default profile to get the Reset button in Firefox.

    Today I started my Mac and something strange happened: in the startup procedure chrome started but this is normally not indicated. The system stops at a point (everything looks good) but after clicking anything the colored balloon appears. A hangup! If I kill the Mac (long press on power) and start it again, after the login data the same point from the crash appears.
    How can I reset the profile? Lion should start from new and not the last point. Are there any keys to be pressed at starting etc?

    I do not see any option in the configuration profile to reset the password. Can you tell me where is this option?
    What is profile manager? Where can I find it?

    Good evening
    I have tried and tried to explain what is going on with my broadband speed to BT helplines today, but I don't think its getting through to the person on the end of the phone.
    My normal broadband speed is around 7.0 Mbps, it is currently way down at 1.91 Mbps. I have run the BT's own speedtest and it is telling me that my Profile is currently set to 2 MBPS.
    I have had this problem before and my profile was rest which sorted it out straight away.
    Can someone please reset my profile to ge things working again.

    Hiya.
    Still no joy.
    I sat indoors all day yesterday because an Engineer was supposed to be phoning me, and guess what...No phone call at all.
    I have had a stable connection since reporting the fault, although the helpline said I must reset my router so the router isnt showing it as stable now because of the reset.
    This is an exact pattern of what has happened before, work gets done on the lines in our village, this causes droputs on our routers, which in turn sets our profile way down to 2mb. Users then have to suffer because of something they haven't caused.
    This kind of customer service really sucks and I am seriously considering changing my supplier for phone and broadband.
    Please can someone just reset the Profile and get it fixed.

  • How to reset ColorSync Profile on multiple images

    I am trying to import jpeg files into iPhoto.
    Large numbers get rejected with the message:
    The following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)
    The rejected files can be opened in just about any image viewing application but get rejected by iPhoto.
    If I open one the files with an image editor (I used Seashore) and do a "Save as" then iPhoto no longer complains.
    After alot of trial and error I noticed that if I open one of the files in ColorSync Utility then the Color Sync Profile is set to "SF_T (Plustek OpticFilm 7200i)" which is the scanner used to create the image in the first place.
    The files that import successfully have a blank "Color Sync Profile" with the words "will assume Generic RGB for conversions" underneath.
    It appears that if I can in some way convert all the files that have the "bad" Color Sync Profile then I will be able to import them.
    I cant just open them one by one and "Save as" as there are several thousand of them.
    Any advice appreciated

    "reset active promotions on profile" - if you mean to say removing promotions then you may want to take a look at revokePromotion() method under PromotionTools which can remove the passed in promotion-Id or promotion repository-item from the given profile's list of active promotions.

    How do I get BT to seret my IP Profile?  I had router problems and speed has dropped.  To fix I bought a BT Home Hub 4r, fitted an I Plate filter and located new router next to master socket.  Now get reliable 2Mb but used to get 6Mb.  Checked IP Profile and reduced to 2Mb.  Router stats are:
    12:26:49, 12 Mar.
    ( 75.140000) DSL noise margin: 21.00 dB upstream, 10.70 dB downstream
    12:26:48, 12 Mar.
    ( 75.070000) DSL line rate: 448 Kbps upstream, 8128 Kbps downstream
    Can I get BT to reset now that I have fixed my problems or is the oply option to go to another provider and start again?

  • Openreach engineer says reset of profile needed

    Hi,
    We have BT Total Broadband Option 2.
    After repairing a line fault this morning, the openreach engineer told me that our internet profile needed resetting as we had a very bad line for a few days which appears to have dragged down our speed, normally we run at 7-8mps, after the line repair we are at 0.1mps.
    Looking at various postings here, I tried the http://speedtester.bt.com/ and got the following results
    Download speedachieved during the test was - 114 Kbps
     For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :7328 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
     IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
    Seeing that the profile here says 135kps, it seems he was correct that it needs resetting.
    Please can someone tell me how to get this done, preferably via email, I really really really don't want to call up normal internet support....

    your profile is rock bottom at 135 but if you stay connected 24/7 for the next 3/5 days maybe sooner it will rise automatically if your get 3+ days and still at 135 then contact the mods who will get it reset  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951

    Try first this is; Make sure "show profiles for this display only is NOT checked". If it was you should now have some more choices. Maybe one will work for you.
    OPTION 2: Start wih the profile you messed up, select it and click "calibrate" CHECK he expert mode button and follow the directions. It's pretty straight forward, you don't need to be an expert to use it. Take your time and you will be able to calibrate your monitor.

  • Reset Outlook Profile on RDS

    Greetings,
    We have a new 2013 Exchange server and my issue is that some users on my RD Servers are not getting the updated settings.  They do not have permissions to do anything so when you remote into their session you are not able to modify the Outlook settings. 
    We are in the process of migrating mailboxes to the new server, and sometimes after the migration, the user cannot connect to the mailbox.  They keep getting prompted for username and PW and which are never accepted.
    I know this is also an encryption setting since users with an actual computer (not on RDS) can go into their Outlook settings and uncheck that box and it will work.
    SO, my question is:
    What is the best way to force Outlook to reset the mailbox settings as if its a first time login if the user is on a RD session and has no permissions?  Either a registry setting or better would be delete something from their profile?

    doesn't your CAS publish all the valid mailbox server info to Active Directory so the user doesn't have to manually define which mailbox server to go to after you guys do any migrations, Outlook should be able to query and grab one of the published mailbox
    addresses to connect to
    with Outlook, are these settings which could possibly be controlled via Group Policy? that's the best way

    I'm so annoyed. About four days ago my internet stopped working. The router message said the connection was currently down. Four hours later it came back up. Since then I've had terrible speed. After numerous emails and two phone calls I was told my ip profile had gone down. They had reset it and I'll have to wait 5-6 days to get back full speed. Do I really have to wait this long. I'm only getting 5KB/s. Some sites I can't load at all, even with images off. I am losing money everyday my connection is like this.

    My net went down for a couple of hours. Now it's back and I have some speed.
