I think, according to this thread, you're between a rock and a hard place- you won't be able to access your backups. See this thread:

  • IPhone automatic backup file location while upgrading to iOS 5

I need to know where is located the iPhone automatic backup file created by iTunes while upgrading iPhone to iOS 5 via  iTunes 10.5.2.11 / Windows XP.  Itunes creates automatically a backup of iPhone before upgrading and will restore this backup after upgrade is completed.  I need to know where to find this backup file.
I just upgraded iPhone to iOS 5 via iTunes on Windows XP.  I forgot to make my own iPhone backup before upgrading.  After upgrading and restoring iPhone (the automaitc backup), iTunes started a sync with Outlook even tough I had checked in iTunes "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically".
I did  not wish iTunes to sync with Outlook, and cancelled the sync.  Now I got a lot of stuff mixed up in my iPhone and I would like to restore my iPhone with the automatic backup created by iTunes before upgrading to iOS 5.  This backup doesn't show in the backups listed in iTunes / device backups.
    Thank you.

Had same problem, but IOS 5.0.1 can't find automatic backup on my laptop, not sure if it excists?

I didn't back up my old iPhone when I got a new one. If I put my SIM card in my old iPhone and backup everything, will it transfer over to my new one?

Just back it up to your computer using iTunes By connecting it to your compute, launching iTunes, then going to File>Devices>Back Up (transfer purchases of prompted).  Then restore the iTunes backup to your new phone.

  • Is there anyway to pull the data from an iPhone/iTunes backup file?

Is there anyway to pull the data from an iPhone/iTunes backup file so it can be read and imported into a DROID phone. Have a customer with a dead iPhone and they went out and purchased a DROID as a replacement and would like all their contacts to be imported into the DRIOD. Is there any software out there that can do this?

Here is one that can at least get at the data: iPhone Backup Extractor
There may well be others of better value. Google is your friend.
You'll probably need to do something with the data you can extract, like add it to Outlook, rather than being able to send it directly to the driod.

  • IPhone 5 backup file size problem

    Hi,
On Monday I have upgraded from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. I have setup the iPhone 5 as old (not new device) and restored all settings and data
via iCloud from my iPhone4 backup. Everything works just fine , except I have a problem with the size of the new iPhone 5's backup file.
iPhone 4's backup files , both on iCloud and my laptop, have the size of 236 MB. iPhone 5's backup file size is only 58 MB.
The backup file size is the same when using OTA iCloud backup or iTunes backup.
    What am I missing ?
    iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 7 64bit.
    Regards,
    Alex

Your question is interesting.  I don't really know the answer, but if that happened to me, I'd be delighted!
After all, you're saying everything is working just fine, and yet your new backup is 25% the size of your old one.  I would view that as the backup is being done a whole lot more efficiently, with old junk having been discarded.
I would be really upset and concerned if the backup size went the other way -- if the new backup was 4 times the size of the old one.
Basically, you will find efficiencies in storage used on your iOS device if you restore it.  I suspect you're seeing similar efficiencies here.  Given everything is working fine, it sounds like cause for celebration.
    Enjoy your new iPhone.

  • Reset iphone and getting no content on music

    Hello,
I had to restore my iphone after a software update and now my music itunes folder states "no content".  I'm heading on vacation tomorrow and really want to be able to access my itunes.
    please help.

I just did a restore to factory settings from the phone last night and it worked. Don't know for how long, but it straightened things out.
History..Apps started crashing, then lost music, then phone bricked. I did the restore which took forever. I did not downgrade to a lesser version of itunes. I then deleted all apps from itunes and my files. Phone worked great again and then I started adding some of the apps (I had alot but only brought back about 6). Then after about a week or so I added more apps and everything worked great. All apps were reinstated from itunes not the phone. The update I did on the apps was from itunes. And that was when the problem started again. I did note that after the update, the apps were spread across 3 pages. I didn't have enough to cover two and I think that may be the problem. I started noticing some songs had no volume while playing, some apps would crash. I figured it's just a question of time before the whole phone goes south again. Last night I deleted the apps that weren't working and upgraded to itunes 8. Some of the remaining apps were crashing now and still spread over 3 pages. So before going nuts with another restore I did a reset to factory settings from the phone. It bndled the apps back onto two pages and they were all working just fine. So far anyway. We shouldn't have to go through all this nonsense but maybe resetting to factory settings is a quick solution. I didn't lose any contacts, just had to reset the weather app for my town and reinstate the wifi password and a couple of other password protected apps. So before doing a restore, try resetting the factory settings.

  • Where does iphone put backup files? I have time machine, ios 10.6.7, iphone 3. Thanks!

I am looking to retrieve an important text that somehow I erased! Where might you suggest I look for a iphone backup & do you know if texts are also backed up?

SMS's are included in the iPhone backup:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • IPhone 5.1 update corrupted both iPhone and backup

    Help me please!
I updated my wife's iPhone 4 (Verizon) to iOS 5.1 this morning with no issues, but when I attempted to update my previously working fine iPhone 4s (Verizon) today at 7:35 pm eastern time and it screwed up both my phone and my backup.
After the update -- I was taken to the generic iPhone (slide to set up) welcome screen instead of my own.  After setting up my wireless network and enabling location settings, it brings me to the "Start using your iphone" screen.  When you click the Start using button, I see my home screen with my apps for split second and it brings me back to the Slide to set up screen.  Stuck in an infinite loop:  Slide to set up --> Wireless setup --> Start Using iPhone --> tantalize me by splashing my home screen --> Slide to set up.
My next step was to try powering off and restarting and powering off with both buttons and restarting, but neither helped.
So I called Apple support and talked to two levels of tech support, the first level had me restore from the backup taken by iTunes at 7:43 pm eastern during the update process.  He assured me that the backup would have been taken before the update was applied and would be a full update.  Post restore, the same problem manifested -- Slide to set up --> Wireless setup --> Start Using iPhone --> tantalize me by splashing my home screen --> Slide to set up --> etc.
He kicked me up to senior tech support.  Sr. Tech support had me restore to factory and set up as a new iphone to see if it is a hardware problem.  Restoring to fresh factory got me back into the phone.  Restoring from a backup in December got me back into the phone.  Restoring to today's backup caused the problem to re-manifest.
I have a lot of data in apps accumulated between December and today.  Is there any way I can get that back?  Is there a way to drop my phone to a previous version of iOS?  Help please?  Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Curiously, the update to 5.1 corrupted both my phone and my backup in the same step.  That means something in the update process inserted itself into the backup and the phone at the same time.  Tech support says that there is no update applied to the phone prior to the backup being taken, but that doesn't appear to be true.
If it was a simple case of backup corruption, the phone itself would have been fine after the update.  The fact that both the phone and the backup show the same exact symptoms seems to indicate that something in the update possibly installed itself prior to the backup.  I hope this information makes it's way to Apple engineers.  The Sr. tech person "Josh", wouldn't discuss that as a possiblity.

Your missing apps are most likely due to an issue I saw while updating my two 3GS iPhones...see below... but usually inside iTunes goind to File > Transfer purchases from iPhone will get the missing apps back...
The issue with missing the settings and camera icon is a strange one...for that I can only suggest that you do a full restore unfortunately...so do that before messing with the missing apps of course...
One thing I have found when updating both phones earlier...is that for one phone I already had ALL apps updated on iTunes AND iPhone prior to the upgrade of iTunes and the iPhone OS 3.1
    All went according to design...
On phone 2...The apps where up to date on iPhone only...Not in iTunes...when I upgraded iTunes and then updated all apps, after it was done it forced me to re authorize my itunes account...(it didn't do that for phone one) Then after that was done and I clicked sync...it told me that 11 of the apps on iPhone were not updated because they were not authorized...even though I had just authorized the iTunes account...I chose from the file menu "transfer purchases from iPhone" and then the 11 apps did properly show up in iTunes and all was well...

  • Ipad reset itself and backup is corrupt

My ipad 3 completely reset itself earlier today. when it powered back on it acted like it was fresh out of the box.
I have tried to restore from my itunes backup, but am getting a message that the backup is corrupt or not compatible.  The backup is encrypted.
I therefore appear to have lost all my goodreader and pages files...
    Any suggestions?

  • Sync Mac and iPhone and backup to iCloud

I've had my iPhone for eight months and it's about time  for me to take advantage of iCloud. I tried this when I first got my iPhone and it didn't work the way I expected. I might have been trying to do toomuch new at once. First I use Apple's iCal and Apple's Address Book. I want to be able to sync changes in both between laptop (Mac) and iPhone, back and forth and backup to iCloud. Last time I tried I think it only synced either changes from iPhone to Laptop or visa versa. My wife has an iPad and iPhone and syncs hers to a different Mac. I guess this would work the same? I probably should get mine solve, then work on hers.
    Thanks

This is my calendar list, if it helps.
The private calendar won't sync with anything, it only appears on my mac.
The work home and office calendars sync with iCloud and between all my devices.
The karting calendar syncs with another iCloud account, it will not sync with my primary iCloud event.
Therefore if I create an appointment in either the private or the karting calendars, they will not sync with other devices. I suspect having two work and two home calendars is confusing the matter and you need to turn the correct calendars off and ensure your default calendar in iCal preferences > general is set to the correct calendar so that you aren't creating events in a non iCloud calendar.

  • Hard drive crash need help with new iTunes load and backup files

I have looked through the posts and not found my situation.
I had my iPhone synced to a PC computer and the hard drive crashed. I had an extensive library in iTunes, but none of the music was purchased online so I can't simply download it again. It was all from CD's, many of which belonged to friends. I now have an iMac. The music I like is still on my iPhone, but not on my new iMac. When I try to sync the iPhone with my iMac it wants to delete all the music on my iPhone. Is there any way to copy the music off my iPhone first - so I can add it back into my iTunes library?

Yes, luckily I have been in this situation.
You can download a free application that will take your music from your iPhone and place it onto your Macintosh HD.
One of these should suit your needs:

Hi Gurus. I have one incoming IDOC record. There are 3 segments in the IDOC. Output type is simple - just 5 or 6 fields. But each field of the output type can be derived either from segment 1, or 2, or 3. Means if all 3 segments have data, there will
