Resetting ipod touch 5th generation

My son tried to create his own iTunes account and add it into his iPod touch, that was already registered to my account.  I am trying to reset his iPod now as it seems like it is confusing the two different accounts and not letting any of the apps really work all that well (or at all). I tried to reset the ipod from the settings, but the 'Find my iPod' will not turn off as every time I try to get it to verify the password it times out and denies the reset (which is what happens in all of the apps now as well which is why I wanted to start from scratch and reset everything).

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • How to reset ipod touch 5th generation without using itunes

I am locked out of my IPod touch 5th generation because my password was changed on me. It says my ipod is disabled and I need to connect to itunes. However, I can not get itunes where I am so I need to know how to reset my ipod without itunes.

    Only if:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
otherise with a computer with iTunes and an interent connection
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • On my ipod touch 5th generation i cannot connect to the internet i did every step in the help section. I reset the wifi, I turned the wifi off and on and still nothing. I even tried to put it in manually but still couldnt connect

The product i am using is a Ipod touch 5th Generation, version 8.1. On friday i had laid my ipod on my jacket which was laying on my mom truck and i went to play basketball. So when i got back it was off, at first i thought it died but the ipod was cold. It wasnt turning on i put it on the charger and it still wouldnt turn on. So i kept it on the charger all night and in the morning (saturday 10/25/14) it turned back on. So i went to the wifi to connect to my home wifi and it said no wifi is found. So i reset the network settings on my ipod and turned off the wifi box for 30 seconds then turned both back on and it still said theres no wifi. I followed every step but it still doesnt show any wifi. I tried to enter it manually but it keep saying "Could not find the network". But when i do it on my brothers phone it works. Can someone please help me get wifi back on my Ipod touch. I did all the steps but still nothing work.

    If not this:

  • Resetting a disabled iPod Touch 5th generation through recovery mode not working.

I bought a disabled iPod Touch 5th generation at a garage sale. I looked up how to reset it and followed every step given and it was working. It said there were about 82 minutes and it was restoring for about until 70 minutes and then a pop-up comes up saying it can't restore it because it has a password on it! Please help me.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • Twice experienced an unusual problem with my iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0: crashes and disables power up. HOME and POWER pressed together to reset.

iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0. iOS crashed twice, disabling power up. The only recovery was pressing and holding the home and power buttons together for several seconds. The iPod touch then went into restore mode. I've never experienced, heard or read of an iOS crash preventing normal power up: device has known battery charge, does not respond to pressing power button or connecting to AC charger.

    That happens some times. Try:

  • The head phone jack on my brand new iPod touch 5th generation is not working properly

The head phone jack on my brand new iPod touch 5th generation is not working properly. It has sound without the headphones in but when I plug them in it has no sound, it's low, or poppy. I had only used my apple supplied headphones once before and it worked fine. I know it's not the headphones because I tried them on my girlfriends phone and they worked fine.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

    - Restore from backup

  • Full automatic Itunes synchronization impossible for a brand new Ipod touch 5th generation

    Hey all,
I bought a brand new Ipod Touch 5th generation which won't synchronize my whole music library through Itunes (very latest version of the app).
The ipod runs IOS8 and the mac mini runs Yosemite latest version.
I already had issue synchronizing music the very 1st day I had the Ipod touch. As a result, went back to the Apple store for changing it for another device, thinking the Ipod was faulty, which Apple accepted and changed my device for a brand new one.
Since then, still unable to synchronize the full music library through itunes. I performed several full resets both on the mac mini and of the Ipod touch with no success. The synchronization seems to run fully normally with no warning pop up saying it failed or whatsoever and the sync process is very very long. But once done, my Ipod remains empty with no data at all.
The weird thing is that Photos are fully synchronized with no issue at all.
I contacted the Apple assistance who argued that my music library might be faulty and have corrupted files in it. So I cleaned it up, suppressing some files I had in double etc.
BUT still, no success, I had to go through the entire library to sync manually, but even then, I was able to have on the device, only half of the library, i.e. around 25 go. once the ipod display 25 to 30 gb remaining, it won't sync no more files.
Although I cleaned up the entire library and reset both devices hundreds of times, I have no clue why even manually, I'm completely unable to have my whole library automatically sync.
I spent hours on the phone with Apple assistance to get some help with no success so far. I even re-installed Itunes completely, still without any result at all.
I was only able to upload on the Ipod only half of the music library, and there are still 25 to 30 GB space remaining on the ipod and 20GB of music to be uploaded.
The automatic sync process always fails any time I try to run it, except for the photos, books etc.
I must say I also have an 160 GB Ipod classic with which I never had any problem so far, and which fully sync my whole library with no issue at all.
I read on the internet that some other users of IOS8 are accountering the same issue with itunes.
COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP, I'M DESPERATE, given the price of the Ipod I really do regret I bought something that does not work properly. Quite disappointed

Yes the system just keep sync as everything is normal, but then no song is actually uploaded to the ipod.
And the remaining space bar shows the ipod's empty.
the automated process will just keep sync as if normal and the last step saying 'applying the modifications" just keep going on and never ends.
I was only able to upload manually half of the albums, all songs comes from different sources; ripped from CD for great part, but also downloaded from the internet from trusted websites.
All songs play normally through Itunes on the Mac Mini.
But then when trying to sync the whole library automatically, nothing happens and I only get tags of the different albums, as if there, but actually it won't play none and the Ipod player just keep skipping as if no musical data is there.

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation won't boot?

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation. Recently, I plugged it in to charge overnight, and upon awakening it was turned off. It booted fine then, but took longer than usual. The same thing happened even more recently, but now it will not boot. Instead, it remains at the apple logo for over 8 hours. I have tried a hard reboot already. I am able to enter both DFU mode and recovery mode, but they are both recognized by iTunes as recovery mode. I know it must be in DFU mode because the screen is black.. My most recent backup was to my laptop but is EXTREMELY outdated, and it got corrupted. Is there a way to make an encrypted backup while the device is in either DFU or recovery mode? I refuse to restore the device as I would lose over $5,000 worth of information. Any solutions? I am running iOS 7.0.4 and am unaware of any update-- if there is one let me know. My device is NOT jailbroken, but I think the warranty expired a few days ago- ironically just before this happened. Nice timing.

I plugged it in to charge this morning while it was in recovery mode. I just came home to see it in the reboot loop again. I have unplugged it and did the following:
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Once the Apple logo showed up, I plugged it in to my computer and waited for iTunes to recognize the device for about 15 minutes. Nothing happened, so I could not backup the device.
Since it has a full charge, I would estimate it to take many hours to discharge completely. By "discharge completely", do you mean to drain it to the point where the internal clock stops functioning? I have done this on my iPhone 3G many times, and it fixes most errors. I intend to drain it past the "low battery" image that shows when attempting to turn on the device.

  • IPod touch 5th generation deleted over 2000 of my songs

Hi. I rarely resort to forums like this to fix a problem but I can't seem to find anyone who's had the same issue.
Today I connected my iPod touch 5th generation to my Windows 8.1 PC to sync some songs onto it. I ripped some of them from a CD, others I got from Home Sharing with my brother. I tried to sync 12 songs to my iPod. At first, it looked like 8 of them had synced correctly, not greyed out or empty bubbles. I tried to add the rest and they refused to sync. All the songs from Home Sharing refused to sync to my iPod.
I tried something I normally try after an issue like this occurs - I select all the songs I've downloaded/ripped/gotten from homeshare and right click and select Create MP3 Version. I have my import settings as MP3 because I have other devices that also use my ripped music. I deleted the original versions after the new copies were made and moved them to recycle bin. Deleted the greyed out songs from my iPod and all the ones i'm trying to resync, and put the new versions on. It got stuck on syncing for about 20 minutes, making me late for something so I canceled the sync, ejected it, and unplugged it.
Got into my car, plugged my iPod into the AUX cable on my stereo, and my iPod started skipping all of the songs I had put on. I tried another playlist to see if it was corrupted music files, and it does this for nearly every song on my iPod. I have a 64GB iPod touch, with over half the space still empty. 3760 songs. I put my iPod on shuffle to see if it would play anything, and it quickly skips about a hundred songs at a time, whether play or pause is selected, and won't stop till it gets to a song that decides it wants to play. I plugged it into my computer when I got back, and it tried to put 670-something songs back on my iPod, so I figure hey maybe it'll fix itself. Nope. Now when I open up my music app on my iPod it says I have 909 songs, and it won't sync new songs to it. I have tried soft resets. I take care of this iPod. Never dropped it, dented it, or anything. No damage of any kind this iPod is my baby. It is just freshly out of warranty and I also have music on here from multiple computers as we have 4 computers in my house and my old laptop which no longer functions due to a hardware error and there are some gaps between my iPod library and my iTunes library, so I haven't tried to restore it yet because I'm trying to save my music. At this point I feel a restore from backup is my best option.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
    -Cassi
