Resetting of ADE

Can someone please let me know how do i reset my ADE? I can not authorise my ebook reader as my account apparently have too many devices.
Thanks.

If the email isn't in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • ADE stopped recognizing my Literati, how do I fix this?

I have been using my Literati with ADE to read library books without any problems until this morning. I downloaded more library books this morning and tried transferring them to my Literati with ADE. ADE said the books were on the Literati but the Literati said they weren't. Literati tech support was basically non-existent. Kobo had me do a factory reset. ADE does not see my Literati at all. My computer sees it as a removable storage device. My computer runs Windows XP Professional ver 5.1 SP 3. The Literati lists the software as 2.0. I also can no longer connect to Kobo despite an all bars wifi connection. I have been working on this problem since 11 am this morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two Literatis...  The only thing that seemed to work for me was a
reset (small hole in the back: just the size of a bent paper clip).
    Hopefully, that'll do it.
BTW: I spent almost a month finding a contact at the end of a phone who
would talk to me about my Literati.  They replaced it with a Lookbook -
which is the same thing with better battery life....  I wish I'd kept the
phone number, but I tossed it when I got the replacement.  I have two SONY
ereaders to use when the Lookbook dies.

Set your Computer to work with our eBook provider
    1.  Download and install Adobe Digital Editions. This software requires  Flash.
    2. Open up Adobe Digital Editions. It will ask you to activate  your software with an Adobe ID.
    3. If you create an Adobe ID:
    a.  You may download the book to more than one computer as long as the  computers all
use the same Adobe ID. (Up to 6 computers can be  activated using one Adobe ID.)
    b. You can transfer your eBooks only  to Nooks that are using the same Adobe ID.
    4. If you decide to  continue anonymously:
    a. You will not be able to transfer eBooks to  your Nook!
    b. You may only download to one computer.
    c. You can  activate an Adobe ID at any time. However, you may lose the rights to  see any
    eBooks that were downloaded previously.
    5. We recommend  that you create an Adobe ID. Follow the steps to do so.
    6. Activate  your Nook by plugging it into your computer with Adobe Digital Editions  open.
    7. Adobe Digital Editions will detect your Nook and ask to  activate it using the same Adobe ID as
your copy of Adobe Digital  Editions. Follow the prompts. (It may take a few minutes for Digital
    Editions  to see your Nook.)
Getting your eBook on  to your Nook
    1. Open up Adobe Digital Editions.
    2. Plug in your Nook. If you have not previously set it up, Adobe   Digital Editions will ask to register
your Nook using the same Adobe  ID as your Digital Editions.
    3. Your Nook will appear on the left  under Bookshelves.
    4. To transfer your eBook to the Nook, click on  your previously  downloaded eBooks and drag them
to the Nook icon.  The book will transfer.
    5. Unplug your Nook.
    6. To find your new  eBook, go to My Library.
    7. On the touch screen, scroll up until  you see My Documents.
    8. Your new book will be in My Documents.
    9. Enjoy!

  • I have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions on my Nook but epub documents I try to open on it dont reco

I am trying to transfer previously downloaded epub documents to my Nook. I downloaded ADE to my Nook but now I cant open my documents with my Adobe Username and password.

    Hi bratindu,
    1. To confirm Adobe Digital Editions is authorized properly, take the following steps.
In Adobe Digital Editions, from the title list view, go to the Library menu and select Authorize computer.
If ADE is authorized, move on to #2.
If ADE is not authorized, proceed through the steps to Authorize it with an Adobe ID.
    2. Reset the ADE folder on the nook:
    Close Adobe Digital Editions.
Connect the nook to your computer.
Under My Computer or Computer, open the drive associated with your device (likely named nook (X:) where X is the drive letter).
Locate the folder .adobe-digital-editions and delete it.
    3. Open Adobe Digital Editions. You should see the Device Setup Assistance dialog. Click the Authorize Device button.
Once you have completed the steps above, please transfer the title again by dragging and dropping it on the device icon in the library view of Adobe Digital Editions. The transferred Adobe eBook title will be located in the 'My Documents' section on the Nook. If you are using a NOOKColor, transferred titles will be located in the 'My Files > Digital Editions' section.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Rave

  • ADE keeps freezing and resetting my book, especially on my kobo... Help?

ADE will freeze and 'not respond' while I am using it on my computer. When I try to read on my kobo, it will freeze after every few page turns, and eventually say that I have finished my book, even though I am only partway through. It also takes forever to open a book, or turn a page on my kobo. It will not save bookmarks, nor allow me to scroll through the pages, using the scroll bar in the bottom menu.
    Any ideas, tips, tricks, help??

If you can't start from your OSX-DVD,  try to reset the MacBookPro by holding down the keys Option Command P R on your keyboard during startup, until you hear the startup sound the second time.
Another option would be booting in safe mode by holding down the Shift-key during startup.

    Same result.
    =====
Before this books seemed to download ok, but when I bought some books from KOBO some of the library books disappeared and others would only display table of contents, and would exit when I hit next page.  Not sure what version of ADE I was using then.  KOBO suggested I install 4.0, but sent me a link to 3.0 and I tried both.  I called asking if I could return the KOBO and they walked me thru deleted both KOBO and ADE and reinstalling over several hours and borrowing more books, and it crashed.  I tried several more times re0initialing my reader but not the 2 apps, and restarting it several times (was actually trying to get it to reset) and it finally started working until I tried to borrow this book.
    ====
KOBO now says it is an ADE problem and won't help me with it or let me return it. (Wish I had got a Kindle)

I tried 3.0 and the latest book now opens and ADE says it is on KOBO after I drag it there, but when I disconnect and open KOBO itself it is not there.

  • Can't add .ACSM files to ADE, message: "Error! Check activation"

I am using Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 with a NOOK Simple Touch, running on a 64-bit 2009 Windows 7 machine. Recently I have been unable to download my library ebooks to my Nook. The electronic library I am using (a derivative of Overdrive, I think) only allows the download of books in the .acsm format. However, recently, I am unable to open the books in ADE. Instead, the only option I have is Adobe Reader. When I select the 'Browse' option and choose ADE and hit 'OK', nothing happens and it doesn't show up as an option. When I try and manually add a file to my ADE library, I get an error message saying 'Error! Check Activation". The only thing I even got halfway working was when I downloaded ADE 1.7.2. I got the .acsm files into the library (still, I had to add them all manually through the ADE interface). However, my NOOK will not open these files, even when using ADE 1.7.2. These are the things I have tried:
-Downloading an e-book (in .acsm format) from the Digital Editions free book selections. Same issue
-downloading and redownloading Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 (and removing the other program)
-Downloading and redownloading Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.2 (and removing the other program)
-Deauthorizing ADE (Every time it just says "Unable to erase authorization. Please try again after some time.")
-Adding a book in ADE 1.7.2, getting ADE 4.0.3, transferring the book to the newer software, deleting 1.7.2, and syncing my nook with 4.0.3. Nook says it's not authorized
-Doing a factory reset of my NOOK
-Unblocking the .acsm files by going to Properties>General
-TRYING (and failing) to automatically associate .acsm files with Adobe Digital Editions. Like trying to open a downloaded file with ADE, I get no response when I browse and select i
(SIDE NOTE: my Adobe IDs all match. I know that is also not the issue).
I think the issue here is that something is preventing .acsm files from opening in ADE, and nothing in particular is wrong with my NOOK. My only guess (which is probably misguided) is that Windows can't process my request for ADE to be the program to open .acsm files because it's in the x86 program files folder and not the default Program files folder. I've never heard of that being a problem but I can't think of another reason.
If anyone has any ideas, please give them to me. I am actually typing all this for my grandmother, and she is going crazy without her library books.

On the deactivation issue- I just had a similar issue where I could not deactivate and had to manually deactivate by deleting the activation information from Windows registry. That might help you as well.
Follow the instructions below the disclaimer on this page: Error "E_AUTH_NOT_READY" | Digital Editions
Or if you are more computer savvy, simply close Adobe Digital Editions and then delete this registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

  • My answer to Error Message 2038 when trying to download library books to ADE/NOOK

I found my solution! I previously posted a "Help" on the forum because I could not get my public library books to download to ADE. I kept getting an error message #2038 stating to check my network connectivity. Well, not being a techie, I didn't even know what that meant....and the search began. After MANY excrutiating hours, I found the simple answer for my particular trouble.
First, please indulge me why I whine.... I checked my firewall by funbling my way through my computer and trying to download to ADE without it being turned on, not my problem. My virus protection, not the problem. I copy and pasted folders as suggested in some forums and totally messed them all up. I had to delete them from my PC and have Nook help me reset my nook to factory settings and reauthorize my Nook.  What a MESS! I uninstalled and reinstalled ADE checking out my ID, etc. I spoke with the public library and tried their solutions....nada. I TRIED to speak with ADE but they informed me Digital Editions is a free software so I couldn't even PAY a techie to speak to me and had to use these forums. Nook advised me that the problem was not Nook related and they were NOOK TECHIES not computer techies so maybe I should check with ADE. ON AND ON around the merry go round.
Finally, here was my problem and answer. I did not know what a "proxy" was. I kept being told to check my "proxie server". I don't know if this will work for anyone else but here was my simple answer. I have a satellite internet service provider. I called them, and although they told me this was not within their scope of service, they helped me. I went onto Internet Exployer, I clicked on Tools. I clicked on Internet Options, I clicked on the connections tab, I click on the LAN settings and there was a number in my "proxy server" box. I recognized this number as being the same number listed for my satellite provider (Hughes Net). I called them and told them my problem and asked if that number SHOULD be in my proxy box. They had me delte the number and click on "automatically detect settings" instead. They then had me make sure my internet could still surf the internet correctly by having me go into "graphi-heavy" sites like Facebook.com and CNN.com. My internet worked great as ever. I then went to the public library web site and checked out a book. ADE came up and instantly downloaded the book. I was able to drag and drop the book to my Nook icon and it appeared in my Nook. I can now check out free public library books, which is the whole reason WHY I purchased the Nook and not the Kindle!!!!
I was told this proxy setting was not "wrong" just speaking a language that ADE could not translate....so to speak.
Yeah!!!!!! I hope if anyone else has this problem, you will find this posting to be your easy answer......because it has not been easy to find this information out.  There is noone out there to help you but these forums!!!! The one fall-back to the NOOK is that they are NOT prepared to help you resolve any compatibility problems. THEY ONLY KNOW HOW TO OPERATE THE NOOK, they aren't computer Techies. NOOK is great, but if they want to be #1 they are going to have to beef up their Support Network with qualified computer/Nook techies.

    Hooray!!!

  • Can't get ADE to recognise my kobo - help!!

I bought a kobo aura today. Bought a book from the kobo stall which is reading fine.
The main reason I got an ereader was for ebooks from the public library. So I then I tried to get a public library book on to the kobo. Successfully transferred a couple of public library books to the kobo via ADE but when I tried to read the books on the kobo, I got a message saying the document wasn't authorised. Following advice on the web, I deleted ADE from the kobo folder on my pc in order to force ADE to start from scratch and reinstall on the kobo (and the ADE files in the kobo folder had been saying there was an error). ADE now won't recognise the kobo at all. Installed ADE on another computer but had the same problem, it won't recognise the kobo. I've tried so many things to try and sort the problem that I'm completely befuddled. Oh, and along the way I did a factory reset on the kobo.
    Any ideas/advice?

Thank you. I've not solved the problem but I reported it to my public library who do have been in touch with Overdrive, the 3rd party provider for the library's ebook service. The library digital media officer says that Overdrive's CEO uses a Kobo. Overdrive's 1st suggestion is to install ADE version 3. I did this but then got a message "Error! Check Activation" when I downloaded a library book and couldn't even get it into ADE. After scratching a bigger hole in my head and getting into more of a muddle, I realised I had ADEv4  installed on my other computer (authorised to my ADE account) and that this might be the source of the activation problem. I now only have ADEv3 installed but haven't been able to test Overdrive's solution as I'm now locked out from downloading library ebooks because of the number of transactions in such short period of time and I need to wait 7 days for my account to be cleared! The library service has asked Overdrive to unlock my account but this hasn't taken effect yet.
I also spoke with a friend who works in a university computer dept who thinks they know someone who had the same problem and may have solved it so I'm waiting to hear about that.
The other solution that some people seem to be talking about is to strip off the DRM - I presume this creates a pirate version and I object to being forced into considering doing something illegal, however much of a racket the digital rights stuff is.
However I am comforted that I am not the only person struggling with this issue; and bless the library staff who do give a damn about trying to resolve the problem. Will keep you posted!

  • URL Links not working in ADE

I have created URL links in a PDF ebook using acrobat.  The links  work just fine in Acrobat.  When I try to click on the link in ADE 2.0 some of the links aren't recognized, meaning they're not clickable.  Is there a certain setting that should be used in acrobat to ensure that links are clickable in ADE?.  It's important that they work in ADE because once DRM is added to the file, it will only be readable in ADE.
Thanks in advance for any help

Clear Safari, close Safari and reset the iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Google vendor ID authorization and reset device limits

    Hello,
I recently purchased a book on Google Play.  So I attempted to download ADE and transfer the book to my Kobo Mini eReader. I tried to authorize my devices and computer using Google. The first problem is that when I selected Google as an ebook vendor, I use my Google details to login, but it says that my information is not correct. I know that my Google ID and password are correct because just a moment ago, I used them to login to my gmail. This seems to happen to some people on here as well. Is there any fix for this at all?
The second problem is that after many times attempting to authorize both computers and kobo and failed, I reset my computer (I was using my university's computer and it runs on virtual machine). When I got the computer rebooted, I downloaded ADE and started the process again. But this time, when I opened the .acsm file from ADE, it said that my device limit is reached. I assume that this happen because I was on my university's computer and it uses virtual machine so everytime it reboots, it becomes a completely-new-and-different-computer (since there are a lot of students at my uni and each student has a unique log in details; everytime the computer reboots, it completely wipes out all of the information from the previous use, including installation, etc.). So I guess ADE treated my computer as a new device, hence the device limit reached. So my question is, how can I reset my device limits (I got this suggestion from google play support that to contact adobe for a device limit reset, that's why I post the question here.)
    Thank you.

Don't you think it's about time somebody responded to this kind of problem?
The whole ADE business is a f'ng disgrace, with every roadblock known to man being thrown up when you try to "authorize" a computer. I've just tried to change a computer's authorization to be associated with an Adobe ID, and all I get is the message "You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile devices. Please try again."
Of course if you are dumb enough to try again, you get the same result, over and over.
A computer died, I replaced it, now I'm getting this crap and wasting hours of my time.
    As I said, a f***ing disgrace.

  • Best way to implement ADE in a Corporate library

    Hi,
I would like to set a policy for ebooks with DRM at my firm's library. I would like the purchased e-books to be accessible from a library's PC plus from the personal devices of a selected list of employees. My problem is that i would like to achieve this goal without having to create a new Adobe ID for every six devices I connect, or resetting them once reached this limit.
I was wondering if anybody already did something similar or if there is any kind of "Corporate" version of ADE that is more suitable for my needs (i would need sort of a book-based authorization process instead of an ID-based one, in order to keep a single ID for the library).
    Thanks
    Alex

I guess you are looking for PASSHASH System.
This pass-hash system is a new option beyond the “identity based” system that was already supported with the use of an Adobe ID account to authorize a limited number of devices. This pass-hash system embeds an encrypted (or “hashed”) version of a user name and/or password into the ebook file. Any user who receives a copy of the file and knows the username and password associated with the item can read the eBook. Adobe calls this a form of “Social DRM” because the eBook and password info can be shared with others and is not limited to a specific number of authorized devices. (Note that the release of this system does not imply a change to the concurrent device limit used in the more popular identity based DRM option.)

  • ADE not authorizing

I am unable to authorize my Windows 7 laptop with ADE.  I have version 2.0.1, which I installed earlier today.  My adobe Id is working since I have also reset my password today.  However when I clieck authoze after entering my credentials, i receive the error "the vendor account you entered is not associated with the item you are trying to open. try again"
does anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve this?  thx

That message usually comes when you try to access a book, not when you authorize.
What exactly do you mean by  when I clieck authoze after entering my credentials.
Basically entering your credentials is authorizing.
Without more detail impossible to be sure, but two things that often help ....
    Two possible solutions ...
    1) ~~~~~
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
    2) ~~~~~~~~~
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above.  There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'.  The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

  • Overprint issue on ADE

I have got a file made in overprint effect in Indesign and exported to PDF. I lost all the overprint effects when viewed the file in ADE, but in Acrobat, it's fine. Anyone knows how to preserve overprint effect in ADE?

    Try
settings - general - reset - reset network settings.
settings - general - reset - reset all settings
