Resetting of reading of a Meter

In the register group of meter (as shown in iq03) we earlier maintained the meter index as 5 before decimal places. One of the meters installed at customer's premises has already read meter reading till 99999 and has now again started measuring consumption from 0.
But we are unable to find any solution to enter a lower current meter reading from previous meter reading in the SAP system. The system is giving a message as Prev MR > Current MR.
Kindly Help.

Lets take a example
meter index is 5 before decimal places and 3 after decimal places.
Previous reading - 99999.001
Current reading - 100.001
Current reading = current - previous => 101.00
The sytem takes care of this automatically. It starts again from 0 if the meter has revolved to full reading possible.
There shall be no problem with this.
An user exit - EDMLELDV has been used in this case so its giving u the error message maintained in it Prev MR > Current MR...try working out on this.

Ultimately, the FP-CTR-500/502 modules are not designed for frequency measurement, although it is possible to use them to measure frequency. The one thing is that it works best to do the measurements over relatively long integration periods (1/4 second or more).

There are two different types of reset procedures you can do on your Reader Digital Book - soft and hard.
Soft Reset
IMPORTANT: A soft reset can be performed anytime and will resolve most issues.
Locate the reset button access hole. It is labeled RESET and, depending on your model, can be found on the back or bottom of your Reader device.
PRS 500 NOTE: On the PRS-500 model, you must remove the soft cover to locate the rest button access hole.
Using a thin object such as a paper clip or stylus (included with touch models), press the RESET button.
The screen will not change after pressing the RESET button. You must now slide the POWER switch or press the POWER button (PRST1 only) to turn on the Reader device again.
Hard Reset
WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. After doing a hard reset, you will need to restore your content. Your purchased books can be restored from your account at the Reader store.
IMPORTANT:
You should only do a hard reset if necessary and as the last step for troubleshooting.
After you do a hard reset, your Reader device will need to be authorized again from your Reader store account.

Profile preferences reset to "Read Only" after turning it off.

I cannot start Firefox. It says it is already running. Task Manager does not show any instances running. There is no "parent.lock" file in the "......default" folder. Each time I look at the preferences for the "profile" folder, it shows "read only" is set. I clear it and the next time I look at the preferences "read only" is set.
I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox but it still resets"read only". Looks like the profile folder has something corrupt in it.

Only a check mark in the Read-only box means that a folder or file is Read-only.<br />
Windows doesn't check all the files in a folder so instead displays a green block to indicate that it is not sure.<br />
You always need to look at the files individually.<br />
Easiest to do that is to make the Attributes visible in "View > Details" mode: Choose Details in Windows Explorer.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Resetting Fingerprint Reader after deleting all prints/pw not working

Yes Im an idiot but does anyone know how to reset the fingerprint reader for U200-115. I have deleted my fingerprints having reviewed the password but now cannot get in to do anything as the password doesnt work. I have been advised that a BIOS password reset is the only way (i.e. a visit to the Tosh service people).
Does anyone know a work around ?

Unfortunately there is no work around. The BIOS password can be removed by authorized service provider only. I really do not understand why the password still exists but ASP is your last and only chance.

Please tell me when reading from a socket connection how an IOExcption with "Connection reset " message can occur.
I am basically connecting to a UNIX server program .
Now I am using this exception for detecting invalid user login

'Connection reset' means you have received a TCP RST. This is sent under a number of circumstances which do not include the peer closing before all the data in transit has arrived at your end. You will not get a connection reset under this circumstance.
If the peer before you have read all the data in transit, the data remains queued at the peer host and will be sent by the peer. It will all arrive at your end followed by a TCP FIN which manifests itself to you as an EOFException or -1. This will all happen correctly provided only that the peer host stays up, and if it doesn't you will only get a read timeout or an indefinite wait in read().
The RST is issued by the other end if you write to it when it is already closed, or if it closes preceded by Socket.setSoLinger(true,0), or if an intervening firewall misbehaves, or if it is a badly written WINSOCK program, or ...

No, my sound system has a USB cord hooked to it, the cord hooks into the bottom of the ipod just like the cable that came with it. I'm scared if I restore the ipod I will lose all my music. Unable to read Class from META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file

Hi,
One of my EJB Bean is referencing a class file "test.class".
So, I placed the test.class file under app-servers's
"<root-dir>/lib/test.class". And added this in MANIFEST.MF file under "Class-Path" property.
But the app servers is not recognising this Class and displaying "NoClassDefFoundException".
Any help is appreciated.

a JAD file problem. try to check "MIDlet-n" attibute

Difficulty in reading GPIB device(power meter)

I am using the following Vi attached. i am generating array of frequency writing it to the signal generator with GPIB address 28.afterawards reading powermeter with GPIB address.and finally writing it to the file.
the problem is some times this GPIB read does not work properly. i get error from the power meter. in the read array it displays trigger or Nrvs or some thing different. i thought may be it is due to initializing of power meter. i send SC1 command for power meter initialization. but it does not work. why ? i attached the manual of power meter and signal generator.

yes you are right.but if i just execute this driver and afterwards i execute my VI i get some reading from power meter in the form of an string array. it is like this i write an array of frequencies to signal generator at GPIB address 28.and then other device(power meter) is connected at GPIB address 13.
this device returns reading in the form an array string. i thought that i must send/write some command to GPIB 13 device (power meter), so that it starts sending data.this is i am doing in my VI by sending SC1 command. may be i am using wrong command or may be i must send some sequence of command.
the problem with executing the driver, that you mentioned is that i have to execute this driver VI all the time just before my VI.if i execute this driver VI/DL
L then every thing is fine and my VI sends and read reading according to my wish. but what happened if all these devices are initialized or reset,my VI does not run any more. and because i dont know which part of this driver VI cause this activation to react, i just have to blindly execute the driver every time without understanding what should i do in my VI that i dont need to execute the driver any more and this VI would be independent of driver VI.

Meter Validation Steps:
1.     The Validation Process begins with Meter Reading Order Creation when the expected consumption is determined for the meter reading to be recorded for each register. The meter reading status is u201C0u201D or un-entered at this time.
2.     The meter reading is entered via an upload program as part of the batch processing or entered manually.
This result is validated or evaluated against the permitted range of allowable meter reads/consumption for that register. The expected consumption is the basis for determining the range of the minimum and maximum values for the meter reading.
If the result is plausible, or valid, for all registers of the meter, the billing order becomes billable and the contract/installation is passed to billing for further processing. The meter reading status is updated to u201C1u201D or billable.
If the meter reading is validated as implausible, the meter reading result is transferred to the List of Implausibles for further processing (EL70). The status of the meter reading is u201C2u201D or automatically blocked. One or more independent validations can be failed in this validation process.
3.     During processing, the agent can release the meter reading for billing; the status is updated to u201C4u201D, released by clerk. The reading is accepted as measured. The agent can also process the implausible meter reading result using transaction code: EL27 Execute Correct Implausible Meter Reading Results. EL27 is recommended for individual processing.

Once the screen opens, click on the List button on the application toolbar
4.     The agent may also correct the meter reading. If this corrected read is validated as within range, the status is updated to u201C1u201D, billable.
5.     Alternatively, the reading can be determined to require follow up action and a service order is executed from the IC for re-read. A read status has been configured to support this flagging of the account for follow-up service order processing.
6.     When the service order is returned from the field, the CSR releases corrects, resets or possibly estimates the meter reading depending on the outcome of the service order processing.
7.     The meter reading is then passed to the billing engine for billing execution when the reading is validated as plausible.

Multiple Meter Reads on the same day and Billing

Hi All,
There is a requirement to hold all reads received from Customer/ Meter Reader etc even they these are received on the same day for e.g. schedule read could be received in the morning, followed by customer read through internet and then another customer read through IVR system.
Can we store multiple reads on the same day?
If a read goes into implausible and then it's corrected, implausible read is replaced by corrected read. Is there any way to store old implausible read?

1. So my question is can we enter multiple reads to the Meter on a single day with same meter read reason? - Yes when we have MR reason which is not relevant to billing. In your case its 09 which is nonrelevant and you should be able to enter multiple reads with different time.
Make sure you supply time also when you are submitting your read. However there is a restriction of what level you can enter multiple MRs since SAP stores read at Minute level so you can not post 2 reads in same minute.
2. Are there any configurations to be done to allow multiple meter readings on a single day? - Not sure but standard SAP should allow you to save multiple MRs with the above rules.

Meter read not picked up

hi all,
when i try to bill the meter read is not picked up by the billing. i try to bill for period 01-jul-10 to 31-jul10 there is a meter read on 20-jul-10 but still when i bill it does not pickup, i am not getting any error also.

The stop read can come from different sources, Stop read can come from SA/SP link, if the link was stopped OR Removal Read from SP/Meter Installation history, if the Meter was removed.
Other than above, system would look for the next Scheduled Read Date for the SPs Meter Read Cycle which is: (after the end date of the last bill segment + Rate Frequency's Minimum Offset Days) AND before the Cutoff date of billing.
Also note:
- This depends on the Billing Option that you have selected for the Online Bill, i.e. "Use Cutoff Date" OR "Use Schedule". Batch billing by default uses "Use Schedule" method. "Use Cutoff Date" will look for meter reads as of the cutoff date.
- Rate Frequency is the Frequency defined on the SA Types Rate Schedule. Frequency configuration has the Min./Max. Offset days values.
So, in your case Scheduled Read Date will be searched between, for e.g. 06-JUL-2010 (01-JUL-2010 + (lets say) 5 Days) and 31-JUL-2010.
If no Scheduled Read Date was found, the SA is skipped from billing. This is what happened in your original post.
If Scheduled Read Date was found, system will check for available reads between (Schedule Read Date - N1 Days) and (Schedule Read Date + N2 Days), here N1 = Rate Frequency's Min. Offset days and N2 = Rate Frequency's Max. Offset days. Lets assume your frequency offset days are 5.
Now, lets say you defined the Scheduled Read Date = 31-JUL-2010. So system will check for reads between 26-JUL-2010 (31-JUL-2010 - 5) and 05-AUG-2010 (31-JUL-2010 + 5).
Your read is on 20-JUL-2010 hence system is not able to find it.
This may relate to your second post.

Problem resetting count on read with fp ctr-500 counter

Using the ctr-500 module with a FP-1000. I want to reset the count of a channel on each read. The CTR-500 manual says to selecting "Reset on Read" from the Value menu. I've done that but the counter never resets when I read it. I then tried clicking on "Creat item" under channel attributes in MAX. It creates an item called "Read Reset Mode @Count Input 0" under Data Neighborhood. Added that item to the program and wrote to it with both a 1 and 0, but when I read channel 0 it still will not reset. Obviously, I'm missing something. I would appreciate any help or a simple example so I can get this resolved. Thanks, Mike
