I think the problem is this. Your MacBook is Intel
based. The Tiger DVD install disk you said you used
for your G4 is for a PowerPC.
Carolyn is correct. You'd need the discs that came with your MacBook in order to start up your MacBook. The operating system on the Tiger DVD is only for the PowerPC. There are currently no "generic" retail Tiger installers for Intel Macs, because all the currently shipping Intel Macs came with Tiger, and there's no reason for the retail Tiger discs to have the Intel code..
You should try calling Apple and see if they'll let you order replacement installer discs for your MacBook.

Issue with Reset Password from Active Directory Integration Pack

I seem to be having some issues with a subscription in the Reset Password activity from the Active Directory Integration Pack. The "User Password" field refuses to take a value from a subscription provided earlier in a Generate Random
Text activity. As you will see in the screenshot below, when the Reset Password activity runs, the User Password value is blank.
Any idea why this might be happening? It looks like a possible bug with the Active Directory Integration Pack.

I think this is not a bug, this should be by design because the password is a secure string. If you look for the Published data for Reset User Password activity at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh553463.aspx it is not listed there as well.
If you need the the string (e.g. to send it via email) use the
data from the "Generate Random Text" Activity.

How to reset password from sql level

Dear All,
I have created a new client 300 which is a copy of 000,
i have selected only SAP_CUST profile, no user master profile is selected.
After creation of client i have created one user,
now only one user is existing in newly created client 300, unfortunately , i am unable to login using that user,
for which i have to reset the password,
how do i proceed to attend this issue.Can i do it from OS level or SQL level,, if so then please let me know how do i proceed for it.

use the source client password for SAP*
suppose you copied 300 client from source client 000 then use 000 sap* password in 300
if you are still getting problem with login using sap* in client 300
then do following
run query analyzer if you use SQl server 2000
or run sql server management studio if you use SQL 2005
connect to database
use folloiwng query
in SQL 2005 click on new query
USE SID
DELETE sid.USR02 where MANDT='300' and BNAME = 'SAP*'
where SID = your sap system id ID in uppercase
sid = your sap system id in lowercase
query is case sensitive
after executing query login with sap* user and password 'pass'.

you might have a rescue email on the account.. try looking in all the email accounts you own

Resetting passwords

I'm trying to reset password I forgot. 1. Inserted mac OS X install disc 1, as per p.96 users guide, "then restart computer and hold down the C key as it starts up. 2. Choose installer > reset password from the menu bar. Follow the instructions on the screen." When I restarted and held down the C key nothing happened except the log in screen still came on, and a noise like a drum beating stayed until I released the C key. No menu bar, installer, etc. appeared. I did a hardware test, same procedure, insert mac OS X install disk, restart, and hold down the D key, and the test screen appeared with test completing with no problems as the result. Need help to reset the password. Thanks

Sometimes it can be a bit tricky to get your computer to boot off of a DVD if you don't hold down the C key at the right time. First, make sure that your Mac sees the Mac OS X Install DVD - does it show up on your desktop or in the navigation pane under Devices in the Finder? If not, eject it and re-insert it and see if it shows up.
Once you've confirmed that the computer is seeing the Mac OS X Install DVD, follow these instructions to boot your computer from the disc:
Turn your computer off by clicking on the Apple menu and select "Shut Down".
Once the computer has turned off, press the Power button and immediately hold down the "C" key.
Your computer should boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
If your computer still doesn't boot from the disc after following the above instructions, restart it again and instead of "C" hold down "Option". This will display a menu with all of the available bootable devices that your MacBook Pro recognizes. You'll see your hard disk, and then you should see a disc labelled "Mac OS X Install DVD". Use the arrow key to highlight it or select it with your mouse, at which point your computer should boot from the disc.
You should then see an installer screen, where you can proceed with following the instructions to reset the password for your user account.
If you still can't get the computer to boot off of the disc after following the above instructions I would recommend contacting Apple, visiting a Genius Bar at an Apple Store (if available) or contacting an Apple Authorized Service Provider for further assistance.

Used "Reset Password", now "No available users"

I started up an old G4 running OS X Server 10.4.1 but couldn't remember the user or password. I put in an Install Disc, ran "Reset Password" from the disc, changed the password for our "Admin" user (not the System/Room user), hit "Save", Quit and restarted the computer.
The new password wouldn't take.
I put in the Install Disc again, ran "Reset Password" again but now my volume indicates that there are "No available users".
Can anyone help me out?

Perform the instructions in sections 1 and 2 of this article; if you don't have a backup or the issue persists, perform the instructions in sections 1 and 3 and then recreate the accounts in the same order they were initially created with new passwords. None of your documents or other files will be deleted from the computer if this is done properly.

Need password to reset password?

A friend of mine has a mac, and because I'm a little more computer-savvy than he is, I was trying to help him with the problem of a forgotten root password.
I followed the instructions offered by Apple to reset the password, but when I choose "reset password", it asks for the one we're trying to reset!
His version of OSX has two install cds, and that's about all I know off the top of my head. I was trying to reset from the first disk.
Any advice?

Which target are you using this is for direct integration with OID, are you using OIM if so why don't you use the direct api method for resetpassword ? if not check the attribute name for password attribute in OID and place it in the code.

How to reset password if you can't boot from DVD?

I just bought a second external disk drive and installed Leopard on it. When it asked me if I wanted to import my information from my internal drive, I said OK, not realizing that since I had a blank password on this drive (running 10.2.8), that would not work with Leopard. One of the reasons why I bought the second disk drive is that my internal superdrive failed, and I had added on an external Lacie superdrive which does not function as a boot drive, and I wanted to run the new OS on another drive so if one drive failed, the other would work as a boot drive. However I can't boot from the DVD to reset the password on my external drive to an actual password. I disconnected the external drive and am working on my internal drive with 10.2.8. (So something I planned for worked)
I suppose one solution would be to erase the new external drive and start the whole install process all over again, making sure to add a password on this drive first. But that took about five hours and I'd really rather not. Is there some way to reset the password remotely using the OS from my internal drive to look at the external drive? Or is the non-boot from an external USB superdrive a problem unique to 10.2.8 but if I set the external drive to be the boot drive, the Leopard DVD would boot the external drive?

Thanks. Thankfully, when I thought about it, I realized that the computer had booted from the external superdrive to install Leopard, so I figured I'd give it a shot by selecting the install disk as the startup disk and restarting, crossing my fingers and hoping. It worked, so I was able to simply reset the password using the reset password function. Perhaps the issue with the external superdrive is that if it's not already mounted with a system disk before you restart, it won't do it after it starts up in event of failure.
And if that hadn't worked, I would have booted from my internal drive, used disk utility to wipe out the external drive, put a password on the 10.2.8 account, and done the whole install process again and migrated the account now with a password to the drive.

To what password are you referring? Do you mean your user account's admin password? Or do you mean the master password for File Vault or do you mean a Firmware Password?

If you cannot do the above then try this:
1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
     /sbin/fsck -yf
     If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command until
     you do. If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message,
     then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
     mount -uw /
     cd /private/var/db/netinfo
     mv local.nidb local.old
     rm ../.AppleSetupDone
     shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
How to reset the OS X password without a startup CD:
Reboot into Single-user Mode. Enter the following and press RETURN after each command line
   1. Type fsck -fy
   2. Type mount -uw /
   3. Type passwd <username>

First, reset your password as follows.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.
If you're being prompted to authenticate when making changes to files inside your home folder, continue as follows.
Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.

How do I reset my password from a safari only guest account?

I can not log into my account anymore it said that my password is wrong and I never changed it. The apple store is closed due to weather, and I am only allowed access to the guest account which says it is "Safari only" I have no other option to get signed back in to do homework. I need help!!

My I-Phone 4S screen is severely cracked and not sensative to touch, resulting in not being able to use screen touch to unlock password. Is there any way to unlock or erase the password usinf I Cloud or other Mac access points?
