You cannot deactivate fonts when the are installed as system fonts. But you can install fonts for some software manufacturer like Adobe for them only in the Application Support in their subfolder is a font.
With InDesign you can also install fonts for InDesign only in InDesign's font folder.
With in InDesign you can also install fonts on a Document level only, if you place them in a folder named "Document fonts" which has to be in the same directory as the INDD file is.
But with the current CC versions you see in the font dialog a star at the left of the font's name. Click on this star, then it will become a Favorite, and then you can click above to filter your favorites only. This will hide all other fonts. This may work for you to reduce the list.

  • Macbook stuck on reset password screen

hi all - I just restarted my MacBook Pro (just because I thought I hadn't done it in a while) and it looks like it somehow started up in a safe mode and I'm seeing a "Reset Password" grey screen with options to "choose the problem you are having when logging in" and with 3 options.  It doesn't recognize my keyboard strokes - nothing works.  My mouse is moving, so it isn't stuck - it just wont let me press enter or press any radio button.  I have tried to restart in safe mode and also a systems recovery mode (the control R) and everything brings me back to this page where I can't do anything.  Thoughts?

See this Apple note on steps to take.

  • When booting up MacBook I get a reset password screen

My Macbook pro would not wake from sleep. I shut it down and then tried to restart. I get a Reset password request I can not get out of this. If I reset the password and restart the Macbook it just eventually comes back to this screen.

At this point not much. See OS X Mountain Lion- If you see a blue screen at startup.
If the disk is so full the computer cannot boot, then all you can do is remove the drive and replace it or erase it and reinstall OS X.
If you can restart the computer:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • MacBook pro boots to reset password instead of loggin screen

why I turned my computer on this morning it took for ever to even show any thing on the screen and when it does it goes straight to a "reset password" screen.. I know my password and am not sure why it does this. Nonetheless I try to follow the different steps to reset password but when I restart my computer as prompted it only restarts back to the same "reset password" screen

I had the exact same problem today!  As recommended I reset in safe mode which took me back to the reset password screen, I reset it and then reboot. Shine a torch through the  apple logo on the back of the screen and you will see that the screen is working but the light isn't. I put in my password with the backlight nit working and as it logged  in the backlight came on. No idea what caused it, will update if things change!

    Hi Linda Loo Loo,
If you have backed up previously to iTunes on a specific computer, even if it has been a while, you may be able to still backup even if you are unable enter the passcode on your iPhone due to a damaged screen. You may find the following article helpful:
If you have previously synced your device with iTunes, you may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, restore your device.
When iOS Setup Assistant asks to set up your device, choose "Restore from iTunes backup".
Select your device in iTunes and choose the most recent backup of your device.

  • Reset Admin Password on MacBook Air

A friend of mine has a first generation MacBookAir. I advised her to have an admin account as well as a normal account for her daily work. Now she has forgotten her admin password and I am wondering how to reset it. She does not have the external DVD-drive. If she had, she could use the install disk. Is there any way to reset it?
She's also not living close by. Would it be viable to try it via a remote install via internet?
    Thanks a lot.

Well, with the install disk, she can use Utilities->Reset Password, but without a USB Superdrive this does not help. Is she near an Applestore? They can re-set it for her.
    http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/
Or, you can copy your Install Disk to a USB drive, mail it to her and have her boot from the USB and then use Utilities->Reset Password
(to copy to a USB, use Disk Utility. Make the USB a GUID Partition, then in the Restore Tab, drag the DVD to Source, and USB Disk to Destination, test, and mail).

  • ? regarding resetting password in Airport Wireless Network.

? regarding resetting password in Airport Wireless Network.
I am using comcast cable and have a netgear wireless router to access the internet. In my airport network preferrences I have a network name and a password which is working well on my brand new Macbook. However, I would like to use this same network for my old ibook G4 and here is the problem.
When I open the airport on the ibook I scroll through the list pick my network name and then it opens "the selected airport network requires a password to join" and asks for my password. It gives the wireless security " WPA personal" and asks for a password only.
I enter the password and it says it is not correct.
What could be going wrong with this??
Can I reset the password on the new Macbook and resolvethe problem?
    Any info. would be appreciated.

Most likely I'm thinking that the Netgear router is using something other than WPA personal (WPA enterprise, WPA 2 comes to mind...) and that your iBook's Airport card doesn't support this later encryption. Try going into your router's setting and changing the security settings. (Although some may argue that this poses a greater security risk. Just avoid WEP and you should be good.)
