If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
If your iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

When is the best time to charge an iPod for optimal battery?

What do you think?
I hear if you let it go all the way down and then recharge it meaning full discharge then recharge, it's bad for the battery overall.
Also I hear it's bad to charge it constantly as it would make the battery weaker as well?
So when is the best time to charge it so that the battery stays at optimal performance for a good amount of time? Like 50%, 60% battery?

It really doesn't matter that much when you charge a lithium ion battery. The only significant caveat is, as you've mentioned, don't drain them completely. Other than that, charge it when you need to. I generally put my on charge at night and take it off in the morning. I do the same thing with my cell phones which have the same type of battery. The iPod will stop charging when the battery is full.

It actually goes back to the theory of accelerometer. It calculates the velocity and from the recorded time you ran, it will be able to calculate the distance.

There is no need to charge it before you first use it. You cannot run the battery too low as the system will shut the device off before that happens to protect the battery.
Generally speaking, your Lithium battery will have the longest useable life if you avoid deep cycles. Since you can plug and unplug it as you wish, the best thing to do is just charge it up (however much) whenever it is convenient to do so (whether it is 10% discharged, or 20% or 50% - basically don't pay any attention to the battery level, just plug it in when it is convenient to do so to keep the battery topped up). And try to avoid frequent deep cycles where you run it all the way or very near to the point it auto-shuts off.

Face Time - "This ipod is restricted from creating Face Time Accounts"

Since uploading iso6 the ipod touch has the following message when selecting Face Time "This iPod touch is restricted from creating Face Time accounts. I have tried switching off/on. I have reviewed the restrictions and it is not restricted. The message above will not even allow me to 'get started'? although previous to iso6 Face Time was fine...... any help apreciated.

I have not seen that problem. All I can suggest is the standard fixes:

Best time to download iOS 4?

Hi,
I know that the iOS 4 will be released today, and I'd just like to know: when is the best time to download it?
I have a 2nd generation iPod touch, so I am aware that I won't have all of the features of the new OS.
One of the features that I learned that iOS 4 will have is persistent Wi-Fi. Does anyone know whether a 2nd generation iPod touch can have this?

It is not an easy one to remember either. Initally I thought it was some pfishing expedition but no purchases have been confirmed by my visa. My kids use my Apple Id to download APs and I am informed when this happens. Nothing strange happening on the financial site at all. Just frustrating as we have to keep updating the ID to use messenger, I cloud etc on all of the devices. I called Apple Support and the girl initally said she knew nothing about this but then spoke to someone else and they are aware of this ongoing problem and are working on it. Any suggestions? Are others having the same problems?

If the system didn't ship with Mountain Lion originally and you didn't purchase Mountain Lion yourself, then you will need to purchase. A purchase by the system's original owner cannot be transferred to you.
Unless you have another system on which you have purchased Mountain Lion, you will need to first install Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the iMac, for which you'll need either the original installation disks, if the iMac came with 10.6, or a retail copy of 10.6. Install 10.6 and upgrade to at least 10.6.6, and then you can buy Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store, presuming of course that the imac can support Mountain Lion. See:

NEEDED: An App That Reports WHO is Resetting the Sleep Timer!

If you've ever tried troubleshooting the problem of your Mac not going to sleep after the period of inactivity that you have set in System Prefs, you know what I'm talking about. I've had this problem off & on for years and I have it again now. I cannot for the life of me determine what is causing it this time. If only there was an app that would do nothing but create a short log listing the processes that are resetting the sleep timer, this problem would be a no-brainer, and would save me and a lot of other people a great deal of time & frustration.
So I'm appealing to some Mac programmer out there to set aside this weekend to come up with such a utility, and I'll buy you a steak dinner.

You are correct that things would be easier if it was automatic. However, you will generally find that it is a program with a built-in scheduler, such as a backup program or a video recording program, that left some code behind even if the program was trashed or removed from the system.
As far as the PDP11, I don't think I could afford the electricity to run one even if I had one. The PDP11 is the first computer I was exposed to in medical imaging. I list it because every once in a while it draws out the truth from folks like yourself when they admit to knowing what one is.
I think the first disk drives that thing used were housed in recycled washing machines using the old motors to drive the spindles.
