Resetting print color settings

Hopefully someone can help me on this one. Everytime i try to print a photo using iPhoto, the dark areas print BLUE. The same photo prints fine in Photoshop.
I've changed all the ink cartridges (Canon PIXMA MP500) so its not low ink.
Is there a way to reset color output settings in iPhoto? I'm burning through the expensive photo paper!!!
thanks.

Have you run a nozzle check with the printer? Something similar like that happened to me. It was a plugged nozzle.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Change printer color settings???

    Hello,
How do I change the settings in tiger (and 10.3.9) to print in color only when i tell it to? My printer is an HP photosmart 7760 with appropriate drivers installed. I just dont really know how to do this.......
    Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about the Savin printer, but there is a way to change your printer settings from black and white to color - presuming the printer driver isn't at fault.
Starting from Safari (the easiest way to access your printer's settings), press Command-P, which brings up the printing options. Under "Quality and Media," a pulldown menu on the right middle part of the screen, and look for the box that says "Grayscale Printing" - uncheck that. Under "Media Type," use "Plain Paper." You should be able to print using these settings.
If the driver is at fault, which I suspect may be the case, make sure your've updated to the latest drivers, which are for Snow Leopard. I'm uncertain if they have drivers for Lion.
    Post here with your results!

  • InDesign CC always resets desktop color settings on new start

This is very annoying: InDesign CC still is not able to save the color settings I choose for the desktop (palettes, workspace background). Everytime I restart InDesign I have to manually set these things again. Since CC came out, I have been hoping that one of the updates would finally fix this.
I am using a multi-monitor workspace, InDesign CC (9.1. ) on a mac pro. I had the problem under OSX 10.8.X and now still under OSX 10.9.1.

I am having the same problem. The workspace will not save. Every time I open the program, it has reverted to some other configuration. Very frustrating.
I am using a single monitor workspace, InDesign CC (9.2) on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

  • How to reset my color settings ?

    Hey,
I'm using Ps CS4 and recently the original colors are changed to other colors !
    see this picture *click here*
and before I open any image this would appear *click here*
please tell me how to reset everything.

Precisely because there are so many variables, resetting everything to default values will seldom be the right thing to do.
You can, of course, achieve such a default resetting by trashing Photoshop preferences as follows:
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.

  • Color Settings issues in Lightroom.

I'm new to Lightroom, and I have been using it for sometime with no issues, until recently.
I normally shoot with a Nikon D800, and haven't had any issues with it, importing, and reading colors.  Recently I rented a Fujix100 for a job, and used lightroom as well to process all those images, but I feel like it may have changed a preference setting in lightroom because now when I import from my Nikon, where there should be a subtle gradation, I get magenta banding.
Strange thing is, this only happens in the Lightroom workspace.  When I export the image, I don't see the banding, and even on a friends monitor, they don't notice the banding.
Im getting my Nikon checked out as we speak to make sure its not my sensor, but my question is, is there anyway to reset the color settings on Lightroom just to be on default?
And is that information then attached to my different catalogs, or just the application?
    Thanks.
    -J.
Edit-  I should also add taht I had to replace the monitor on my computer be cause of yellowing, so I know that my monitor is new (unless they replaced it with a faulty monitor, but then I would see banding everywhere.)

I think the problem is with the new monitor, not with the cameras.  Shooting with a different brand or model shouldn't have any impact on another model.  If you are talking about resetting default cameras settings, yes you can do that.  But using the Fuji should not have impacted the Nikon at all.  You either need to calibrate that new monitor, or exchange it for another if you have that option.

  • Color Settings Changed when Baby pounded on keyboard

My entire desktop and windows have been changed to a weird flourescent combination of colors. My baby son pounded on the keys and suddenly the colors changed in every application window and picture. Everywhere. I can't figure out how to change the setting back.
In System Prefs I tried "Displays" and "Desktop and Screensaver", but couldn't find the solution.
Is there a keystroke or way to reset the color settings to normal?

I figured this out myself, but thought I'd post the answer. In Universal Access within Sys Prefs, there is a button to change the view from White on black to Black on White. That was the trick. I have no idea what quick keys my kid hit to do this, but there you go.

Do you even know how to nuke and re-set Photoshop's preferences, colorplak?  Your last post seems to reveal that you don't understand what I'm talking about. Here's a link you can click on:

To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Note for Photoshop 14.1 and later: If you use Generator and reset your Preferences, Generator is disabled. Choose Preferences > Plug-ins to turn it back on.

  • Excel 2010 ignores print server's default color settings.

Excel 2010 ignores print server's default color settings.
    Our Setup:
Printers are hosted on Server 2008 R2 Print Server.
Two local printers are created on the print server for each Xerox MFP that we have.   Example: Xerox MFP (B&W) - Default settings are set to print black and white only.    Xerox MFP
(Color) - Default settings are set to print color.     So for every MFP we have two printers are created.
Both variations of the network printers are deployed to the users with the Black and White version being the default.    If a user needs to print something in color, they select the Color version of the MFP printer.   This
helps us save on color toner costs.
This works great for web applications, Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader, and other applications.   But, it doesn't seem to work in Microsoft Excel 2007 or 2010.   Whatever the default printer is of the two versions that are deployed,
excel seems to hold onto those printer settings.
Example: If your default printer is Xerox MFP (B&W), when you select Xerox MFP (Color), it still retains the Black and White selection in the printer properties.  However, if you select a completely different model printer such
as Fax, and then go to  Xerox MFP (Color), it will pick up the necessary default color settings.
If I install the printers locally on the user's PC/Computer, it works perfectly.   However, it doesn't work when they are utilizing the print server's printers.
    Things that I have tried:
Different drivers for Xerox.  Global, PS, PCL.
Different brands of printers.   Still experience the same issue.
    Different port names.
    Different protocols, raw versus LPR.
Different versions of excel, 2007 and 2010.
Looked through group policy to see if I could force it.
Checked the excel sheet settings, black and white only was not selected.
Tried most of the printer properties settings.
Created a Server 2012 print server and experienced the same result.
    Xerox's custom configuration file editor.
*Something to note, if I have the black and white version utilize PostScript Drivers and the color version utilize PCL driver, it correctly loads the color settings.   However, if you utilize Postscript for both versions, it doesn't.
I have to vary the print drivers.  Ideally, I don't want to have to do this because I want consistency between prints.

    Hi,
Make sure you have the latest printer drivers - go to the manufacture's website, download and install if necessary.

  • Reset printer settings....still no print....plus added items to menu bar...they're gone

reset printer settings....still no print....plus added items to menu bar...they're gone from bar & customize window...title bar changed

Firefox doesn't print some pages well, but if you have this problem on all pages, there may be some problem with Firefox's ability to work with your printer driver. If it's only particular pages, can you post the URLs for an assessment?
I'm not clear on what happened with Cut, Copy & Paste: you moved them from the menu drop-down to the toolbar and then they disappeared?
If you return to Customize mode, try clicking Restore Defaults and see whether things return to normal.
When you say "toolbar background" do you mean a theme you were using in an earlier version of Firefox? Otherwise, there's not much to see.
If Firefox is becoming transparent or showing some desktop or showing other display glitches it may be incompatible with your graphics card drivers. The standard workaround for that is to disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics.
3-bar menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This will take effect the next time you exit out of Firefox and restart it.

  • Color Settings CS3 Mac for CMYK Commercial Print

Can somebody advise me as too what I should be setting my color settings to so they will be the same across the suite and when I send my files to commercial print that prints CMYK sheet fed coated.
I've read so much I'm confused. I'm new to CS3 and the Mac ... In the past my work has come back perfect in color and matched to my monitor. Now on CS3 on the Mac I'm not sure what to do.
If anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

    Charlene wrote:
    > Marco ... I read your post on rGB / CMYK conversion
Which one was that, if you could remind me?
    >I work through a print broker that prints CMYK and the only thing he can tell me is that they print CMYK and on sheet fed coated.
Well, yes, print is always CMYK. As for "sheetfed coated", I would assume that they intend a color space like the one described by the U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2 profile (though it could possibly be the GRACoL2006_Coated1v2 profile). You may want to ask them to confirm one or the other, to be safer.
    >So my question is di turn everything to CMYK on my monitor and change to sheet fed coated in the settings?
To make sure I understand your question, I think you are asking me whether you should turn your image file(s) to a chosen CMYK output profile. Yes and no. You should do your color and tonal correction work
    b in RGB
, and convert to the intended CMYK output profile
b only as a last step
, just before you deliver the files to the print provider or the prepress specialists.
    Do
    b not
convert your files to the intended CMYK output profile in the beginning and correct them in CMYK. Do not do that. That is not the most desirable way to work.
The default working spaces in Photoshop's Color Settings are important, but not essential. Yes, you should set the default RGB profile to AdobeRGB (if not ProPhoto RGB, though you may wish to hold off on that one until you have more experience with the application), and the CMYK default profile to U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2.
But, as long as your chosen color management policies are to "Preserve Embedded Profiles", and as long as the image files you work on are tagged with the appropriate profile, then the default profile in Color Settings is no longer relevant.

  • Color settings for Photoshop prints

Not sure if anyone can help - I'm still working with CS2 but perhaps my problem has a simple answer.
I did a lot of printing several years ago but had to leave it behind for a period. I'm trying to get bak into it but i'm having trouble with my color settings. My prints are coming out with rather garish or exagerated. My brain is somewhat disconnected of what I need to be paying attenion to. Anybody with advice on where to start again?

Hi Petyer-2, welcome to the forum.
Chances are it's one or more color-management issues (having to do with profiles, monitor setup, etc.)
Are you printing yourself or sending the images out?
If the former, what color-management settings are you choosing in the Photoshop Print dialog?
If the latter, what color profile are you saving the images in that you're sending out for printing?  What does the lab want?
Is your monitor calibrated and profiled?  What profile is associated with the monitor?
Feel free to put a representative image up here if you'd like a judgment on whether the image itself is garish/exaggerated.

  • Illustrator CC 2014 – Printer Options, Color settings DTP – where to adjust details?

Till Illustrator CS6 there was the possibility to adjust the details in color settings "DTP".
Since Illustrator CC i only can chose "DTP" but can not define any precised settings for this DTP-Profile.
So when i print the files, in most cases the colors don`t fit.
In Acrobat Pro it still works - this it how it also looked like in Illustrator before the update. Has anybody got a clue?

  • I made some amendments to my colour settings in PS CS5 and now everything prints black and white. Please help me to reset all the settings to default

I made some amendments to my colour settings in PS CS5 and now everything prints black and white. Please help me to reset all the settings to default. This was after I tried to implement the steps set out in Real World Photoshop CS5. I stuggele to match the colours of my two screens, the one a laptop and the other a LCD and the printer, even after calibration with Spyder 3. Really lost at present.

Tap Settings / Wi-Fi. Tap the blue circle with an arrow to the right of your network then tap: Forget This Network.
Restart the iPad. Tap Settings / Wi-Fi. Tap the network name again then type in your password.
If that didn't help, try here >  Apple - Support - iPad - Wi-Fi Assistant
And try turning off your router for 5 minutes, then turn it back on. Try typing in the password again.

  • Can one set up Lightroom to allow use of manufacturer's printer profiles and Advanced Color Settings

I like the effects that I can apply to my B&W images using Advanced Color Settings, but understand that I get best print quality using the manufacturer's paper profiles. However, I get locked out of Advanced Color Settings unless I choose "Managed by Printer". Can I do both - select a specific paper profile and use Advanced Color Settings? Thanks

I don't know what printer you are using. But if you want to use all of the controls in the Lightroom print module you need to let Lightroom manage the color. For my printer, this requires making that choice in Lightroom and then disabling color management in the printer driver. Then, using Lightroom, I am able to use all of those settings and choose the appropriate profile provided by the paper manufacturer.
With my printer, if I choose to let the printer manage the color, I can make all of those choices in the printer driver. But you cannot split your management between Lightroom and your printer.  You have to go one way or the other.

  • Disableing the printer color management in the printer settings box

    Hello
I am printing on a Epsonstylus r1800 printer using windows 8..  Printer has new drivers v6.55 The Adobe print setup reminds me to disable the printer color management in the print settings box. I can't find where to do this in the print settings box. Resulting in color that is way off. Any thoughts?

Must be done in the printer driver.
This is an example for the Epson 3880
First click on Print settings and in the dialog that opens look for Color Adjustment but that differs with the printer model...
