Resetting simple password

I have forgotten my simple password on my iPad. How can I reset it?

There is no way to reset it.
You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
Instructions can be found here.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
You will probably need to restore using Recovery Mode. You can read about it here.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
Or you can follow this.
Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • Looking for a simple password reset tool

I work for a public school district. We want the librarians at each campus to reset passwords for students to take the load off of the help desk. We used to be a Novell network and we had a simple password reset gui tool that they used. Now it seems in our
new Microsoft network, there is only the Active Directory Users and Computer mmc.
I've looked into self service solutions but they are too expensive for us.
    - Most of the network is Win7 or OSX.
    - I don't want them to see the entire AD infrastructure.
Can anyone recommend a free or low cost alternative?

    you can use DSMOD command
dsmod user "CN=Don Funk,CN=Users,DC=Contoso,DC=Com" -pwd A1b2C3d4 -mustchpwd yes
If you don't know the DN of the user you can use DSQUERY with user name and pipe the result to DSMOD
    dsquery user User1 | dsmod user "CN=Don Funk,CN=Users,DC=Contoso,DC=Com" -pwd A1b2C3d4 -mustchpwd yes

  • HT201412 how can you reset your password to simple 4 digit format?

How can your reset your password to simple format without reseting the whole phone?

Turn off passcode, then re-enable such. Note: if you have an Exchange account, the requirement to use a non-simple passcode can be enforced by a profile installed on your phone when setting up the Exchange account.

  • Why does the iTunes AppleID system refuse to work properly without the need to reset the password every time I open iTunes for use?

Alright so here is the issue. When I first started using iTunes I created my AppleID. I locked it in to remember my password and authorize my computer so that I would NEVER HAVE TO ENTER IT AGAIN. So years pass, no problem. Then "ITUNES 11" come on everyone lets upgrade or you can't proper use the iTunes Store. Seriously it wouldn't let me access the store. Go Figure. So I upgrade simple right? No. It really isn't when iTunes 11 rolled out it was riddled with minor bugs that made the experience annoying so I did a rollback and live without the store for awhile.
About a year passes and I try again this time upgrading iTunes through a COMPLETE fresh install, again I did what had done the first time I logged my AppleID and reauthorized my computer. Hurrah other than getting use to the new UI it ran perfectly. Yes Finally! Right? Again.... No. No more than 2 or 3 software updates later suddenly my password for my AppleID is incorrect I was like "Okay?" and re-entered it thinking the big update cleared my settings.
Wrong Password please reset password to continue using the iTunes store.
I was like okay maybe the user agreement change and we all need to reset passwords and re-accept the EUA. So I go through the process to create a new password successfully and reset my AppleID in iTunes with the new password. Come back a few weeks later it happens again this time I enter my new password and what do I get?
Wrong Password please reset password to continue using the iTunes store.
So I first do a repair install to my iTunes than reset my password this time NOT setting it to remember password. Great everything works fine again password even matched my Home CompID so that I could NEVER lose it well come a few days later I try to use the store and what happens?
Wrong Password please reset password to continue using the iTunes store.
to try to make my Long story a little shorter....
This has been going on for the better part of 3 years I have almost completely dropped iTunes which has the better store library for Goggle Play Music who's store library isn't even a third the size iTunes has because their system works and my log-in is my e-mail. I repeatedly completely uninstalled iTunes and wiped it from my registry in hope a clean install would fix the problem but it never does.
My OS is Vista Home Premium Edition 32-bit and no picking on my OS I been working to get a new computer but that isn't happening anytime soon so I work with what I got.

Even removing the .xml files doesn't make a difference. Also, I now installed another update of iTunes, but still having the same problem, and this time there are no .xml files or preference files whatsoever in the Application Data and Local Settings\Application Data iTunes folders. It seems like for some reason iTunes is unable to create these. What should I do?

  • I chose to have my backup encrypted but can no longer remember my password how do I reset the password function?

I have an iPhone 4S and decided one day to encrypt my backup function. Then after I started to receive information from my iPhone stating that it hasn't been updated in XX weeks, (actually now 23), I decided that maybe the problem was with the encryption. So I attempted to open up the backup using a password that I thought I had set up for it. But each time I tried this password and other variations of the password, I never was able to do so. I want to remove the encryption and have a straight forward backup if ever possible agian. I have tried everything I can think of to reset the password but without success. I would love it if someone could tell me a simple way of doing so, short of chanting mystical verses while swing a dead chicken over my head...(actually tried that too

If you're using iCloud via Wi-Fi or backing up to the computer it is automatically encrypted (but on iTunes you can choose to encrypt it or not) but anyways if deleting the backup does not work you and you cannot remember that password for anything else including you're apple ID (if you used it) you may have to restore it.

  • Every time I reset my password to update my apps, and go back to use the newly created password, it keeps telling me the password is incorrect.

No matter what I do, I cannot log in to update my apps. I even went to appleid.apple.com to Manage My Account and NOTHING works. I have reset the password a zillion times and it will not work. I called Apple, but they can't even assist me with password help, which is ridiculous! This is so frustrating. I have Signed out of the iPhone store in the General Settings, turned off my phone, reset it, created a new name, and NOTHING will work!
    HELP!!

Yes, this happens directly on my iPhone. I go to my App Store icon on my phone, try to "Update All" and my username pops up lookng for the password. I type in the password, and it keeps saying it is incorrect. When I follow the prompts to "reset" a password, I create a new, go back, and the NEW password I just created, literally seconds ago, NEVER WORKS! I've gone to the General Settings icon to log out, log back in, then I go to the iTunes store, log out, log in....NOTHING works. It is drving me crazy!! I can purchase apps, just can't update. I have no idea how to fix, since Apple will not assist me. They say I need to purchase the Apple Care Protection, which is so ridiculous that I have to "pay" to get support on a simple task, such as password help! Sigh...

  • How do i reset the password for secure photo video by Easy to Use Apps?

I have recently upgraded to the newer versions of the free product and am no longer able to log in to the program.  I believe the new version moved from a simple 4-number password to a complex scheme.  However, I can't find any tutorial on how to change to the new system and there is no support for the company (I end up at some web domain sale site when clicking the line in iTunes Store)

If you haven't already done so then you can reset the password for your iTunes account via http://iforgot.apple.com, and after doing that log out of the account on your iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it. And similarly if using the account for iCloud then Settings > iCloud > Sign Out and then log back in
You say that you 'have a new account', if you have created a new iTunes account then all of your downloads from your old account will remain tied to your old account, so only that account can potentially redownload those purchases for free and/or download updates to its apps.

  • HT5538 Every time I try to use apple ID for face time I got an error message "the username or password was incorrect" although they are right and I use them in App Store and I cloud even after resetting my password

Every time I try to use apple ID for face time I got an error message "the username or password was incorrect" although they are right and I use them in App Store and I cloud even after resetting my password, the problem happens also with iMessage . Please help

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • IOS 7 bug - cannot revert to simple passwords  on iPad

I changed my password on the iPad to a alphanumeric. Now when trying to change back to a simple password, as soon as I flip the switch to "simple" in preferences, the whole preferences pane crashes.  Can anyone else get this to repeat or has experienced this?  Can't figure out how to report to Apple.  Hopefully they'll release a bug fix update soon.
    Vik

Well, I reset my modem, which is a unified modem covering my TV, phone and internet.  Previously my cell phone was connected to the home network, but this morning it also failed to connect.  So I reset the modem from Time Warner and the system is working.
Thanks to all the thoughts of support.

  • Call centre refuses to reset my password

I want to cancel my account. Now spent possibly up to ten hours trying to communicate with Bt over this matter but they at the call centre cant be flexible and wont assist.
I pay the account for phone + broadband monthly. But my father is on the bill as the account holder despite me trying over the years to alter this. He is now not only frail and has dementia but is also blind. There is no understanding here. I look after him, I live with him and I take care of his affairs. I pay the bills with my account diligently each month
BUT bt still wont let me access my account online to login and change my now unusable locked out password.
This is a living nightmare. I dont want to spend anymore of my precious time or money trying relentlessly to do this simple action.
I feel totally ripped off by Bt as the problem isnt sorted and I dont think this is probably offering a good service but actually taking my money for goods that arent recieved, can anyone advise on this.
I am so frustrated I feel the only way to be free of all this stress is to cancel the accoutn but I wont be able to do that as they want to speak to my father as Im not good enough apparently.
Madness, who made up these Draconian rules????????????
All I actually want to do is to be able to use the broadband connection vian btwifi when Im out and I need to reset the password. But as previously explained I cant as they wont let me carry on with the phone call as Im not my father, who cant communicate anymore.................

    Hi Welcome to the forums.
Sorry to hear about your situation.
If I may be frank initially, it makes sense thar the account holder with any security answers are used to ascertain the owner of the account. It's not really draconian as it could be abused by anyone knowing some (but not all) of the details.
However, you say you take control of his affairs - do you actually have Power of Attorney in this sad situation ? If you do then the appropriate document needs to be sent to the correct BT department in order for you to control the phone etc. Sorry I don't know where you would send this, but a moderator would be able to help here.
If you don't have PoA, then it might be worth considering, and needs to be discussed with any other family members. This will help in all sorts of areas, e.g. bank accounts, utilities etc. I don't expect they mind who actually pays the money, but the account holder needs to be validated.
It's a very sensitive topic of course, so I wish you well in this,

  • Resetting rpd Password (Informative)

    Hello Everybody,
When i am doing some R&D work today, I come across a situation how to reset the password for rpd where I forgot the password for Administrator. All existed solutions (like NQSChangepassword.exe command) have associated with mentioning old password to get the new one.
    The work around I found:
    <li>Open NQSConfig.INI file </li>
    <li>Go to Security part and find AUTHENTICATION_TYPE = BYPASS_NQS; </li>
    <li>Uncomment this part </li>
<li>Stop the BI Server service </li>
<li>Close Administration Tool, if opened. (Then only the changes are affecting to the Administration Tool) </li>
<li>Open Administration Tool, then rpd which needs password reset, in offline mode </li>
<li>Give any password here, it accepts.</li>
    <li>Now go to Manage > Security. </li>
<li>From here it’s the normal process how you change password for Administrator. </li>
<li>Save the changes to rpd </li>
    <li>Revert back the changes in NQSConfig.INI </li>
<li>Start BI Server and open rpd with new password.</li>
I am not aware of whether it is bug or something else, and don’t even know any other best solution exists for the same. Using Import from Repository hope we can do this... As it's deprecated and the above procedure is the simple one, i am using this...
But this is the work around I found and want to let you all know this.
    I blog it soon... :-)
    Hope it's helpful...
Corrections & Comments are welcome... :)

    Good find! :)
I've validated the procedure here, with a couple of observations:
    1) If you delete or rename NQSConfig.ini the Admin Tool still loads (but requires the correct Administrator password)
    2) If you invalidate the NQSConfig.ini (eg omit a closing square bracket from a section heading) then you get NQSError 47012 Syntax error in NQSConfig.ini file.
so it looks like the Admin tool will read the file if it's there (and honour the AUTHENTICATION_TYPE setting), but doesn't require it.
It would be interesting to raise this as an SR to find out if it's intended behaviour.

  • My daughter can not remember her ipad password. Went into itunes to reset her password and it wants a password which we do not have!!!!!  How do we reset a password for her ipad?

Have a disabled ipad due to my daughter can not remember her password.  Went into itunes to reset password and it says we need a password....which we do not have.  How do we reset her password?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  If you have IOS-7, read this.

My daughter has reset her password and now cant remeber it! can anyone tell me in simple terms how to reset please?
    Thanks

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
