Resize project back to 4:3

I figure that this question has been asked a few times but i cannot find it here. I have put together a project in 16:9 because I was using a pre made template that was that in that aspect ratio. My FCP project is in 4:3 so that's what I need to be importing into Final Cut. Is there a way to switch this over? I see that you can export the project from Motion as a DV/DVC 4:3 but it is still coming in at wide format an making me switch over my FC sequence to match. I don't want to work in 16:9 space. Is there a solution?

hi
there are two ways you could just simply affect the clip you have. either shrink it down to fit the 4:3 space ( making sure the aspect ratio is 33 first) this will give you a letterbox look. Or you could simply cut off the edges to make it fit full screen.
Or you could go back to the template and make it 4:3, and adjust the layers accordingly.

  • Importing a project back from garage band

I didn´t find a way how to bring a project back to iMovie after making some music and effects to it in garageband.
There is "export to iDVD", "export to QuickTime", but no export to iMovie.
I suppose the solution is something very obvious just behind my blind spot.

    Thanks for answer.
If it had to be done in a tricky way, I probably export the music to iTunes, and then import the music from iTunes to iMovie. So that I can make changes to montage.
As far as I know, by exporting to QT the clips are merged to one long clip?

  • Importing fcpx project back into fcpx and having trouble

    Please Help Me.
So I shared a project from Final Cut Pro X to my desktop so that it was the "Title" - Mac and PC.mp4 file. Then I put the project and all the event files onto an external hard drive and deleted the project and the event files from my computer. Since I did that, the mp4 files disappeared, and now I'm trying to retrieve it, so I plugged in my external hard drive to my computer, and tried to get the project back into Final Cut so I could export it properly this time. But although the project imports back into FCPX, it says all the files are missing. I'm trying to put the event files back into FCPX as well, but it doesn't seem to be synching with the project and now I'm scared that I'll either never be able to have this video again or I'll have to do a serious amount of manual re-editing to retrieve it. It seems that if I have the project file and all the original video files from each event, why would it not be able to be retrieved? Is there something I'm doing wrong or some other way I can retrieve this project and/or get my mp4 file back? Should I be putting the event files in a specific place? Please someone, anyone, help me and let me know if you have any useful advice asap.
    Thank you.

I have many projects made in imovie HD that are not updating to iMovie 10 on my new iMac.  Why is this not working as stated on the article HT202853?  How do I get my projects back from backup after old iMac crashed?

    According to:
Update projects and events from previous versions of iMovie in iMovie (2014) - Apple Support
you can update from iMovie versions 7, 8 and 9, but iMovie HD is iMovie 6.
Maybe you can update in two steps, first from iMovie 6 to iMovie 7, 8 or 9 then to iMovie 10.

  • Problem in sending multitrack project back to FCP

I want to be able to import a multitrack project back into FCP, with the most editability in FCP, but the only way I have found to do this is to export tracks and then find then in the browser and drag them into my FCP project. Is their an easier way to do this?

Pretty much . . . no. This is a feature I'm sure MANY would appreciate, the ability for STP to export a multi track project one could simply import in to FCP. As of right now, you can't.

    Hello,
Based on my understanding, there is an issue when you install your application, and it is published with ClickOnce, right?
If you have the source code of your application, I would recommend you try to republish your application instead.
If just keep the published application, then you'd better connect to its publisher to get support.
Since that is published by ClickOnce, I don't think it is possible to editing that file to get that change to a windows installation one.
If you want to get that published with windows installation, I would recommend you create a setup project and get that published, but it still needs you have the source application.

  • How to resize project without losing the image resolution?

I am trying to resize a project that recorded in 1271 x 768
px to 800 x 483 px. I did it by clicked 'Project' > 'Resize
Project...'. But after resize, the resolution of the movie is not
clear, became blur. How to resize the project so that I'll have
    clearer movie? Thanks.

Hi obtis and welcome to our community
Unfortunately, there is little you may do to avoid this. The
best way to avoid it is to simply record initially at the size you
need so you don't have to use the Resize function.
Here's the deal. Captivate stores images in the project as
bitmapped images. Otherwise known as "raster" images. Basically
they are a mosaic that comprises the picture. Initially, all is
well and is crystal clear. But when you scale down a raster or
bitmapped image, you are simply moving all the picture elements
(PixEls) closer together. They overlap and the computer will
calculate new values for what color they should be. Depending on
how much you are resizing, the clarity drop can be acceptable or
horribly bad. The more you resize smaller the worse it gets.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Convert Studio 3 project back to Studio 2

    Hi
I have a big problem with a very large project.
I am working in Studio 2 but I got an trial version of Studio 3
Did a LOT OF WORK and liked the new product.
    BUT
When I tried to buy it was impossible so now I must be able to open the project back in Studio 2
Anyone who know how to do it?
Spent a lot of workingtime and money here so please help

there is no such thing as a FCS trial version.
You will need to either export an XML file or an EDL and import that into FCS 2
Why cant you use FCS 3 to complete the project, its still working isnt it?

If the system just Restarted on it's own, Shut down while you were working on something then started back up all those changes, edits, you had done in that app, document, are gone.

  • Exporting then importing projects back into imovie so I can re-edit

If I have almost completed a project but want it off my hard drive for awhile, is there a way to save that project on a portable drive, then latter, if I need to make changes, import that project back into imovie so I can add video or change the transitions, etc. I find after exporting a project if I import it back, it cannot be re-edited without starting all over. In other words I want to save and store a project with all the editing instructions and then be able to import it back for changes. Thanks for any help on this...

Project files (which are merely a set of instructions describing how a file will be made when it is to be exported/shared) are relatively small compared to Event (i.e., source) files and you would normally reap greater benefits by moving/keeping them on an external drive. If Events are moved from within iMovie '08, their paths will remain unbroken. If, however, you remove the the project files and anything happens to change either the Project or Event paths, you could be in a lot of trouble trying to get/fit everything back to its proper location with path references in tact at a later time.

  • Maintain DV widescreen format when copying iMovie project back to tape

Using iMovie HD 5.0.2 and copying a project back to tape via the camcorder, but the 16:9 widescreen format gets squeezed into 4:3 ratio. Not sure if this is fixable. In the Preferences, I turned off the auto pillarboxing under Import, but did nothing as I suspected. In Playback checking Play DV project video through to DV camera also yielded no change.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Why is sharing HDV iMovie Project back to camera not in real time?

The posting from Michel Raymond on Dec 22th, 2009 asked the question of why is the transfer of iMovie HD Project to camera so long. In his case a 50 minute iMovie Project would have taken 1300 minutes to transfer had he proceeded.
In my posting of Dec 18th I pointed that my 57 minutes 48 GB HDV Project would have taken 43 hours to archive back to camera on mini DV tape.
Bengt Warleby, in his reply on Dec 23rd to Michel Raymond's posting, said that " to copy back to camera (mini DV tape) should take same as movie duration".
So I carried out a simple check of this possibility by downloading 6 minutes of HDV original footage to make a new 6 minute 4.2 GB iMovie Project. No editing was carried. ie no voice-overs, no transitions, nothing extra at all to modify the original footage. I then shared this Project back to the same video camera from which the original footage had been downloaded.
The first stage , "Mixing Audio" was very quick, less than 1 minute.
The 2nd stage of "Encoding" TOOK 23 MINUTES!
The final stage of "Writing to tape" took 6 minutes.
SO, IT TOOK A TOTAL OF 30 MINUTES TO TRANSFER BACK A 6 MINUTE iMOVIE PROJECT TO CAMERA.
WHY? Why was further encoding required when no changes or additions had been made to the original footage? Why was it not transferred back in the same real time as it was downloaded?
HELP.! I really need to have some answers.

.. Is it possible to open the '09 project with '06 to utilize the share to camera feature in '06?
in iM09, choose Export using QT, and for SD choose dv-stream, HD choose QT/AppleIntermediate.. these are the only two codecs in use in iMHD6.. don't be surprised: ~13/40GBs/h ..
Is Apple considering an update to add the share to camera feature to '09 or possibly in a future version? It's a valuable tool for archiving to tape rather than DVD/HD.
speculation, esp. on future  products is not allowed as topic on this board..
.. imho, this feature was axed&buried finally with iMHD6..

  • Keeping my Set Ins & Outs when roundtriping Color Project back to FCP

After rendering my color grades and sending the project back to FCP, I'm loosing my previously set Ins & Outs on the clips in my timeline. For instance, some of the clips in the timeline will have shifted, the timeline is still showing the correct amount of the clip, just the wrong portion of the clip? So I have to go through and Slip edit the clips back into the wright spot.
Am I doing something wrong or is this common.
    My Workflow:
1)Working on ProRes Files in FCP 6.0.5
2)Set my in & out point on a clip
    3)edit into my timeline
4)play with my speed and ramping of the clips & get thing dialed in
    5)Send To Color
6)Color Grade all the clips in timeline
    7)Render Color (to original format)
    8)Then Send To FCP
9)**This is where I'm finding that I the clips are all in the right order and have the right amount of time in the timeline, it's just showing the wrong portion of the clips. Not all of them, just some.
    Any Ideas

Color w/ Time ReMaping Seems to work for me 98% of the time. Out of this 1min project with 13 clips all with special Time Remaping curves only 3 came back out of place.
Ya, well - that doesn't scale well.
The habit you build now you'll use on a 30 minute show. 98% will suddenly overwhelm you. Build good habits now and you'll never have to break them later (or have your client break your fingers as the drop-dead deadline fast approaches and you're tinkering with the slip tool).
And yes, I've had my knuckles rapped a few times before I took this advice to heart.
    Good luck!

    Appreciate some help.

You should be able to copy the apps (and any other iTunes purchases) over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. And as long as apps remain available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them, you should be able to re-download them in the future : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you are already on iOS 5+ on your iPad then you should be able to update the iPad directly on the iPad via Settings > General > Software Update .

  • Exporting DVD projects back to Sony DCR PC1000 camera

    Good evening Apple community
I've been having problems exporting finished projects back to my camera. Sometimes it works, but mostly it gets stuck. Is it possible to export back to an external dvd hard drive recorder? The model I have is a Pioneer DVR 520H.
Do I have to set the iMovie preferences to play back through the camera and then just hit the record button on my dvd recorder?
    Appreciate any help.
