Resize the .swf file

I've finished my flash site using a resolution of 1024x768: my professor wasn't so happy of a resolution so "high" (even if today is something like standard) since somebody might still have an old monitor with low res.
Since I really don't want to get a bad vote I wanted to change the resolution to 1000x550 because with that res a 1024x768 monitor still can see everything: then I've exported my .swf file and then into the .HTML file I've changed the width and height fields.
Is this a "correct" operation? There could be any problem??
All tips are welcome!

Select everything on every layer and with the "edit multiple frames" option turned on, scale your content proportionately to 800x600. Don't forget to select everything on the scene before scaling, just checking "edit multiple frames" wouldn't be enough

  • How to resize a SWF file to fit on stage

    Hi everyone,
    I'm fairly new to Flash so please bear with me. I'm trying to resize a SWF file made in InDesign. My Flash application is set at 1920x1080 and the SWF file was made at the same size. I need it to be resized to 1700x956. This is the section of script that relates to the SWF file.
    break;
    case 'fact_btn':
    eventAction = ".../FactSheet.aspx";
    eventLog(eventAction);
    factLoader.load(new URLRequest("FactSheet/HABFactSheet.swf")); //fact.swf
    factLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaderCompleteHandler);
    break;
    factLoader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaderCompleteHandler);
    spotlightStageRect.addChild(factLoader);
    spotlightStageRect.visible = true;
    spotlightStageRect.addChild(close_btn);
    close_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, removeSpotlight);
    I've tried adding in the code below but the stage comes up blank when I run it in Flash. Anyone have suggestions? Also let me know if you need to see more of the script.
    factLoader.width = 1700
    factLoader.height = 956

    you need to execute that resize factLoader code in loaderCompleteHandler

    What format is the file in before you export to SWF?
    What program are you using to convert your file from its
    current form to SWF?

    Ex, I set the '  '(UTF-16 is '20B9F') to 'Unicoderange'.
    However, I cannot add the surrogate pairs.
    The error of outside the scope of Unicode occurred when I compiled the AS file.
    The reason of error was that the Unicode(UTF-16) of surrogate pairs is invalid.
    Then, I read the following pages.

    I've been able to create project jar files in Eclipse by selecting Export from the File menu, then choose Java - Jar file - and provide the required information, name, destination folder etc. But when I do this, I do not export other jars on the build path this way nor do I expect to do this. I am only concerned with creating a jar file of my own work. A jar file does not "contain" other jar files. If the jar file contains the main method, and requires other jars for it's execution, then you may wish to include a reference to required jars on the class path entry of the Manifest file of the jar file you create. I'm not sure how to create a Manifest file in eclipse though..

  • Detect end of the .swf file from captivate

    Hi,
    I've a .swf file sent by our clients. They want to put that .swf file on the webpage. The .swf file is published from captivate.
    Now they want to display a submit button on end of the .swf (video). I don't know how to detect end of the video.
    Need help...!!!
    Thank you,
    Himadri

    Welcome to our community
    Within Captivate you are able to choose different actions to occur when the Captivate movie completes play. Of course if you don't have Captivate and the project file you are pretty much stuck with what you have. If you *DO* have access to the source, you would then configure the end action to be what you like. Perhaps execute some JavaScript, load a different page, etc.
    If you don't have access to the source file, you may be better off asking whomever provided the SWF to you to make a small change to the end action. They would then compile a new SWF and provide that to you to use.
    You just said a "Submit" button should appear after the video plays. What exactly is this button supposed to do?
    Cheers... Rick

    I am stumped

    " I then assign Vehicle to document class box in the property box" Do not assign the Vehicle as the document class... remove it from there.
    In the main file, if you didn't already create one, create a movieclip symbol (just draw a shape in it for now).  Right click the symbol in the library and select the Linkage option.   In the interface that appears, select the option to Export for Actionscript, and assign it the Class name "Vehicle" in the field labeled "Class"
    Make sure you save the Vehicle.as file after you put the code into it and have that file in the same folder as your Main.fla file.
    If you do the things I just described you should see an instance of the movieclip moving across the stage when you run the file.

  • How to reduce the swf file size of an imported After Effects file

    Hi!
    I am trying to make a web banner for an internet marketing company, so it has very specific requirements. We had it made in After Effects, and I was able to export it as a FLV file and import to Flash just fine along with the SWF. Now, I need to make the SWF file significantly smaller.
    Right now it is 2.5 MB and we can only submit a 40K size SWF. Is it even possible to reduce the size so much and still keep the animation's intregrity?
    I am more familiar with Flash than After Effects, but can play around with settings, etc if someone can tell me what to try.
    Thank you for your help!

    the easiest way to load and play your flv is to use an flvplayback component.  you just drag it from the component panel to the stage and, in the properties panel, assign its properties (eg, skin and source).
    but that will probably put you just over your 40kb limit and will require the skin.swf to be placed on the server with your banner ad.
    to decrease your swf size to negligible, use actionscript to play your flv.  this is the barebones code needed.  just replace your_video_url.flv:
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    ns:NetStream = new NetStreamnc);
    ns.play("your_video_url.flv");
    var video:Video = new Video();
    video.attachNetStream(ns);
    addChild(video);

  • How to Open or load the swf file only in Java application

    Hai.,
         How I Secure my Flash SWF files(AS2 and AS3).?
         The SWF files are only work through java application. When the java call the swf file that time only it will work otherwise it won't work including browsers also..

    I attached the file to this post. It would be great if you could send me the pdf version of the block diagram. It's not totally finished, but that doesn't matter, I can complete it in school.
    Thank you, really, thank you.
    I know that this is not the purpose of this forum, but it was the easiest solution for my problem.

  • Menu keeps appearing in the swf file

    I made a flash for my website and used the fscommand to hide
    the menu, and it works well when i open the swf file. But when i
    insert it inside a web page the menu still there when any one click
    the mouse right button :S I think i did this before and worked but
    now i dont know y is this happening :S

    Hi there,
    Im not absolutely sure on this, but i think in order to use
    fscommand in a browser, you need some javascript in your html code
    to handle it.
    You should check the flash docs on fscommand for browsers.
    Hope this helps.

  • The webpage in the swf file

    hi,i want to catch a function that when i open the swf file ,
    then the webpage shows in flash, how to realize it? if i use the ie
    to parse the html code can achieve the goal. and i want to know how
    the AIR achieve the goal. please give me some advice,
    thanks.

    Yes, I think I am going to have to just use Flash. The flash I was creating was very simple, and Encore would have done the trick if it had not been for the fact that the file would always require the AuthoredContent.xml file.  I was just trying to avoid having to learn ActionScript, and most of my animation is coming directly from AfterEffects, with which I am much more comfortable. However, since I first made that post, I have started learning ActionScript, and also realized how to use the XFL format, so it does not appear to be too bad. Within a few weeks, I should be able to create in Flash what I was trying to do in Encore.
    Thanks for the advice!

  • Does the Captivate Demo cripple the SWF file?

    Is the Adobe Captivate Free Demo limited?  I created a SWF file but I'm not able to insert into a Sharepoint web part.
    Are the demo files not compatible with regular Flash player or is the trial version crippling the output files?  If so, will I need to download the actual software to fix this problem?
    Once I purchase the software, will all employees in my organization be able to view the SWF file I create?
    Thanks.

  • Why the swf file cannot be played by itself?

    Hi,
    After I run the source code, I opened the bin folder and
    locate the swf file that has been packaged. I double click it but
    the program will not run. But if I double click the html file that
    embed the swf file, the program will run.
    Am I doing anything wrong?

    Thanks for your help. However the code is too big to show
    here and I am not sure the client would allow me to do it. I am
    trying to think to shorten it, but it's hard to find where to start
    since I don;t know what actially could cause the problem. I thought
    about using external xml data is the reason. I then tested one app
    with external xml and one without. Both of the two swf can rrun
    standalone.
    So what is the general guideline? Thanks again.

  • Why the swf file have some lines on it?

    I have made a software simulation and published it as the swf file. And I don't know why there are some lines on the screen when I play it in IE? Just as some lines in the fax we ussually see. I have no such problem in playing it in captivate. What goes wrong? And how could I change it? Thank you.

    Hello
    Quite a lot of threads are in this forum. There could be several reasons. Did you rescale the project? What is the quality you use for the slides - default quality is Low (8-bit) you could try one of the other possibilities? Do you keep this slide quality or do you override it when publishing (you can choose 24-bit for publishing which will increase the filesize but also the quality). You could also deacitvate the compression.
    And I forgot to ask: is your version up to date, it should be 5.0.1.624.
