Resizing all layers - HELP!

I got a PSD file from a friend for a web page.   I'm looking at it in Photoshop PS4 and at the 85% view, it looks like it will make a nice web page, but at the 100% view, it's huge.   The PSD must have about 70-80 layers in it.  Is there a way to reduce everything to the 85% view size, so that it can be sliced at that size?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You can use Image->Image Size for that

  • Can I close all layers? or even better, stop illustrator from opening all layers when I open a file?

I just installed cs6, and when I open files in Illustrator, it opens all of the layers which contain sublayers.  It does this even if all the top-level layers were closed during the previous save.  The files I work with have a large layer-structure, so re-closing the top-level layers every time I open a file wastes a lot of my time.  Can I close all layers at once, or better yet, can I stop Illustrator from opening all of the layers automatically when I load a file?
If not, then WHY on earth not?  I can't be the only one who opens and closes large files with lots of layers and sub-layers...
    Thanks for your help.
Edit: I also am noticing this problem is even worse in cs6, because openning and closing individual layers plays a little animation of rotating the triangular arrow before the layer which, cute as it may be, just makes the task of individually closing up all my layers that much more tedious.  Can I turn off that little animation of the triangular arrow when opening and closing layers?

You can save it as a pdf and when you open that in AI the layers will not be opened even if they have sublayers.
Not true. Does the same nonsense an .AI file does. Saved as a .PDF, closed Layers/subgroups get opened.
    And no one cares!
I do. Every other Adobe program with a layering sceme seems to be able to remember that you saved a file with all layers and subs closed. But not this one.
Maybe someone from the AI development team should ask someone from the Photoshop team how they've managed it.....for decades.

  • Auto-resizing all components

Is there a method that auto resizes all components on a JFrame when it is maximised for example. I have got a JTable (in a scrollpane) and some other components on a panel. I have sized the frame to be approx 80% of the screen size. When the frame is maximised, the table and the other components retain their original size (understandably so!). Is there a method available that can resize the panel and its components to resize accordingly when the frame is maximised?...I know I can add the componentListener and implement a method in the componentResized() method...but I dont want to duplicate stuff that's already available. Thanx for your help.

I don't know the specific needs.
BorderLayout: simple Layout; Components are oriented NORTH, EAST, SOUTH, WEST
FlowLayout: all components are added after the other
GridLayout: components are oriented in a grid
    GridBagLayout: complex once

  • CC file saved in cs6, won't open with all layers in both versions

    Hello there,
I really hope you could help me.
Recently i designed a scetch in illustrator CC and saved it as usual (without extra options).
Yesterday i worked on this same file in illustrator CS6, which i found acting weird but not paying attention and i saved it again as usual in the same file.
Today i wanted to work on it again in illustrator CS6, but there are missing layers and all the layers i made yesterday are grouped and are in clipping masks.
The worst part is i'm missing my sketch i made in illustrator CC!
I've tried to open the file in illustrator CC too but it shows exactly the same, no sketch and all layers grouped and in clipping masks.
I now know i had to save the file in illustrator CC with the extra options for multiple versions of illustrator
    Could anybody help me?
The only positive thing is you can see the sketch etc. i made earlier in the preview when you want to open the file in illustrator cs6, that is why i hope it is not really gone!

When opening a new file with an old version (CC file with CS6 in your case) you always open the PDF part of the file. In this PDF almost everything is flattened. There are no live effects, brushes or stuff. When you then edit this file in the legacy version and save you alo effectively delete any live stuff that once was there in the AI part of the file.
    Please read this:
    http://rwillustrator.blogspot.de/2006/11/whats-in-file.html
When you want to edit newer files in older versions you always have to downsave. And even then things might get flattened, depending on which version exactly you save down to which other version.
So unless you have a backup of the old file, your content is lost.

  • Pixelated hair on a backlit photo AFTER I flatten or merge all layers in PSE12.

Can someone please help me. When I am done editing a photo that is back-lit and I flatten the image or merge all layers the stray hairs are becoming extremely over pixelated. This has never happened before. I am using PSE 12.. THANK YOU!!! (I have used the healing brush and clone tool but don't care for the look of it..) I just don't understand why its happening all of a sudden with just the backlit photos.

350 Pixel per Inch...viewing as "actual image size"  Look here at this photo and you will see what I mean... this one is actually a png. file (which is what you want for web)But if you look here, not all of them are... I had to scrap some of the photos. Jana's Creations: 6 years ago today.....

  • Layers problem in PS cs5 extended, all layers change at once, including background layer.

layers problem in PS cs5 extended, when working in a layer, all layers changes at once i.e size, cropping, smart object etc. even the background layer changes...it is really annoying, please help, My system windows 7 64 bit  4gb ram.  It is not grouped, deleted preferences, usually work in rgb/ 8 bit channel - have same problem with all new projects.

    Hi
Problem with layers is when I use the crop tool in a layer out of 20, all of them get croped at once including a locked backgound layer.
When I use smart object in a layer to size down image with transform tool, guess what happens to all the layers in project? all behave odd, changes same as the layer being sized down. If I work images or layers in separate files, once I bring them over to my workspace, all get affected without maintaining their own individuality. This happens with every new project. I think colors are not affecting layers. Layers are not grouped, I do not know anything about linking layers. This problem is stopping me from using photoshop. Please help!!!
I had previously a problem with a photoshop bug (GPU sniffer), which I was able to resolve it with reintalling the graphics video card with the help of HP technical support, I am able now to work with repousse however with same video card.
Let me know if you need me to give you more details.
    thanks,

  • How to import all layers in Photoshop at one go ?

    Hi there,
I am trying to import a Photoshop psd file into AE. This file has a lot of layers. When I do File > Import > FIle, it ask me whether I want to import as footage or Layers.
When I chose Layers, I am asked which layers I wanna import in. As I have to import one layer at a time, this is time consuming. How can I import all layers at one go ?
    Thanks
    Cheers

Choose import as a composition. Check the help files. There are two options.
Thanks Rick, Didn't realize that after clicking File > Import > FIle, when the dialog box appeared, we can still change the option to import as composition.
Thanks Rick for the tips !!

  • Can't select 'all layers' from the healing brush drop down menu

I just installed PS6 and while cleaning up a picture I found this very frustrating: I created a new layer on top of the one I'm editing and wanted to remove a couple of blemishes. but when I hit J and try to select the 'all layers' option from the drop down menu, it won't allow me… it's stuck on 'current layer' and I can't seem to change that… Does anyone else have the same problem? Will reinstalling the software fix it? I need to get this done by the end of the weekend… HELP!

never mind… found it! checked the channels panel and apparently I had created a quick mask… deleted it, works fine

  • Import Illustrator File with multiple layers and sublayers as composition retaining all layers and sublayers

I have drawn a country map with multiple layers and sublayers including streets, cities, rail lines, ...
Now I want to create a template for my collegues in After Effects.
For this I want to import the .ai file into After Effects retaining all sublayers and layers in compositions and subcompositions.
When I do that, I get the first couple of layers correctly, the other ones comes in one merged composition.
What can I do, to get all layers each as a layer in After Effects?
    Yours, Raphael

Illustrator only imports the first level of layers. If you have groups or paths below you need to release the groups to layers. The layers will then be stacked in order as sub layers. Then you need to move them up.
The steps are to select a layer in the Illustrator layer panel, then without selecting any specific element in the layer click on the menu in the top right corner and select release to layers. All a elements in that layer will be converted to layers. Now select them all and drag them up above the original layer. This will leave the original layer empty and put all elements in new layers.
Here's a tutorial I did a zillion years ago which uses this technique to turn a blend into a morph.
Morphing With Adobe Illustrator. I hope this helps.

  • Illustrator files opening with all layers flattened into 1.

    http://tinypic.com/r/afhcg5/5
This image is directly from a customer’s email. An Illustrator template for custom candy bags is sent to the customer and has about 10 layers on it.  Somehow they always come back as Layer 1, flattened.  I am opening them up in CS5. Can anyone advise on why a multi layered file constantly comes back from our customers as a single layer? Having all layers is very important for these bags to print properly. Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, we are sending a layered .PDF that was created from an .AI file.  We are also sending the .AI file as well.  I am trying to save the .AI file back to CS3 so our customers can open the files.
We are not zipping anything though, and we are not requiring our customers to zip anything back either.  We are going to start doing this....

  • Photoshop CS6 - All Layers updating

    Hi
I have copied the Background Layer and deselected this.  I have then made adjustments to the copied Layer and when I commit the Background Layer will change as well.   I then created a New Layer and selected only this one, but then all layers were changed.   Please can you help as to what I may have missed.  I cannot seem to find anything that will work,
    Thanking you
    Anne

    Hello,
Are you using Adjustment Layers? (those will affect all layers below it by default)
If you clip the Adjustment Layer (Layer>Create Clipping Mask) then it will only affect the layer immediately below.
    or
Are you viewing at 100% (View>Actual Pixels)?
In many cases of Adjusting, you need to view at 100% to see exactly how your image is changing.

  • Theres an opportunity to RESIZE all linked images to 100% of the frame?

Theres some third party plugins, but i dont find one which works well and support layered psd for example. i think its a basic function and it should have an native way to do that.
    thanks a lot.

That's a very old school way of achieving things - namely Quark.
In the past it was necessary to resize all images to 100% @ the desired resolution.
InDesign gives 2 resolution views in the Window>Info panel for each image.
    Actuall PPI and Effective PPI
Actual shows the actual amount of PPI - and Effective PPI shows the PPI of the image after scaling .
When you export the file to PDF you can choose the Compression of the image to any DPI you would like.
This means the same file can be used for
    Newspapers
    Brochures
    Magazines
    High-End print finishing
Each of the above have a unique LPI - which determines the optimum resoultion.
This way you don't end up with 4 different files for the same job.
Or worse - 16 incarations of the same image at different sizes for different outputs.

  • All layers are linking together when trying to edit just one....

I pulled in 4 pics, each to a different layer to a blank layer and board. When I placed all the images, and then tried to edit each photo with saturation, hue, curve, etc, all the pics are getting edited with the intended effect, not just 1. I have tried locking the layers, but its still linking to each one. The layer on the bottom isn't getting changed, but I don't think I should have to rotate each pic and layer to the bottom to be able to edit it. A few of my other tools are also acting up. I'm trying to do class work, and this is not getting me closer to taking my exams if the tools can't do what I need them to do. Anyone else having this problem?? Any ideas??

Working on CS6. I tried the adjustment layer, but I was importing the graphics using file\place commands. It wouldn't work no matter what we tried. So, I used the mini bridge and dragged them into the main graphic, and then did the adj layers and it worked. Another misbehaving command is when I'm using the quick select tool, I inverse the selection, and try to delete the background to transparent. When I tried the del command, it comes up as a fill dialog box with foreground, or background colors-no transparent, and it used to work, simply using the del command. As far as I know, I think the other commands are working as they should... I guess time will tell if they are. Do you still need a screenshot the of screen for the del error? I have a windows pc with CS5 at home that I have used for 3 years, so this jump to CS6 on a mac is a little different than what I'm used to...
    Thanks for all your help.
