Resizing application windows started from Start Screen

Hi
For the applications that are already loaded onto the Start Screen how can you resize them once they are started.
For example, I launched Calculator from the Start Screen because I wanted to tally some numbers in another application that I had started from my Desktop. However, Calculator occupies the entire screen. The only resizing options are to split left or right
but the Start Screen is visible in the space vacated and not the original application containing the numbers.
I can add a shortcut to the Desktop for calc.exe, but have noticed this behaviour for all the applications on the Start Screen. I don't see how this is useful because I need to work with several windows open at the same time (which is what Windows xxx
is all about).
Can anyone help me with this, please?

Do you mean we need to use the Calculator App and Desktop at the same time?
In fact we could use this calculator. It can be used in desktop and located in the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories.
If you want to use the calculator app, we could refer to the following steps:
1. Resize it to split left and then click the right side.
2. Click the desktop in start screen, we will get the two split parts like this.

Stuck on "Login window starting" screen

one night i was putting a big file, about 2-4 gb, into iphoto from my old imac and i forgot to make sure that it stayed on my external hard drive and there wasnt enough room on my main drive because they were small hard drives except for my external. iphoto said there wasnt enough room so i selected all the pics i just transfered and tried to put them back in my external but still in iphoto and then the screen dimmed a little and this message came up saying i need to restart my computer so i just turned it off because i was tired and thought i could deal with this some other time. then a week or 2 later i turned it back on and it got all the way to were it said "login window starting" and stopped about 98 percent. and i waited for a few minutes and decided to just leave it there and clean my room then i watched a movie and when it was done i checked back and it didnt move. whats wrong with it.

OSX will mess up the HD if space gets too low, Free space isn't really ours to use anymore.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If that doesn't do it let us know.
You need a minimum of 10 GB free space.

Help: How to get rid off the default Window menu from FORM screen?

I am working on a FORM application. On the very top left of the FORM screen, there is a default Window menu with:
Cascade
Tile Horizontally
Tile Vertically
etc.
The end user will never use it for this application. To make the screen look nicer, is there a way to hid or get rid off it?
Also if possible, I want to hid or get rid off very top "Oracle Developer Forms Runtime - Web"

Set_Window_Property(Forms_MDI_Window, Title, "xyz" );
to change the window title.

Resize Application Window on Mac Shutdown

Hello,
I want to be able to run this AppleScript automatically during my Mac's shutdown, so Safari is positioned "correctly" next time I start my computer. It works great if I run the application from Finder, however once I created a Logout Hook to run this AppleScript, the window is no longer being resized (the AppleScript is defiently running during shutdown).

You have very little control over the order of processes in a shutdown scenario - if Safari has already quit before your LoginHook is called then you're just out of luck.
Instead, consider turning your problem on its head - rather than trying to fix it when you log out, why not fix it when you log IN.
A simple AppleScript as a login item that launches Safari and sets the window bounds as you prefer should take care of it, and won't have any execution order dependencies.

IMac purchased at garage sale help. Gets stuck at "Login Window Starting."

Hi all,
I recently purchased an iMac at a barn sale, and it turns on and everything, but then gets stuck at "Login Window starting" screen (http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt135/gpd2paul4/IMG_0251.jpg). When Goggling this problem, I see that I am not alone in thee problem, but I am alone in the fact that I don't even know what model it is (I think G3, but not sure), let alone have the original CDs or paperwork. I have tried holding 'shift' right after the startup chime to start up in safe mode, but it still gets stuck at "Login Window starting." I have attached a few pictures of the computer to help you veteran Mac users identify it, which might help you help me. Any help is appreciated. (Step-by-step instructions are best, I am good at using a Mac, but this is getting pretty technical.)

Try holding down the shift key when powering on. This will skip a few programs from loading.
Hold down the shift key when booting into Mac OS X. this will check your file structure and do a repair. This will also leave off some files from being used.

Try holding down the option key when powering on. This will bring up the startup manager. Perhaps 9 is installed. Click on icon then click on right arrow.

You need to figure out the level of your firmware before installing 10.2 or greater. ( The PC name for firmware is BIOS. ) Installing 10.2 with a down level firmware will most likely make your iMac unusable and difficult to fix.

There is no need to partition. You can save hard drive space by doing a custom install. Leave out the print drivers you do not need and the languages you do not need. Doing so you will need about three gigabytes of space.

Basically, you hold down the command-s key then powering on your machine. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar
When you are in single user mode, you are in Unix. you can try looking in the log files to see if you can find anything.
To see the current boot log you use the dmsg command.

to display the last 500 lines use the tail command.

Removing AddressBar, StatusBar from Default Application Window

I want to hide address bar from default application window!
This application would be triggered from a link in another (web dynpro / non-web dynpro) application.
And user should not be able to see where he is gets navigated.
So, is there anyway we can hide address bar from default application window of a Web Dynpro application?

I already tried this code. But what it does is, it opens same window as new window in main application window.. so on screen I see two windows.. one parent window with URL clearly seen and 2nd child window which doesn't have address bar
So this is not as I need.

The new Windows start screen is part of the upcoming 7.8 update which at this present time a release date is currently not known other than it is coming!
You can keep update to with this by going into setting > phone updates and make sure the notify me when new updates are found is checked.

Resize safari window question

Every time i open safari i have to drag the window over to the left so i can see the scroll bar and then i have to resize the window to fit the screen. How can i fix it so the window is always centered and fills the screen whenever i open safari?

You're misunderstanding this. The "Resize to Full Screen" text is a Bookmarklet; you click and drag it to your Bookmark Bar in Safari, then click on it from there to resize your screen. But apparently those don't work in the forums, so here's the raw code:

Create a new Bookmark (copy one if you need to just to get the necessary fields in Safari without creating a folder), copy/paste that code for the Location or URL field, then place it on your Bookmark Bar.

How do I get my application window back on my desktop?

I use an extra LCD display with my G5 which I have temporarily disconnected.
When I use Sorenson Squeeze 4.3 it usually appears on the second screen but since I have disconnected it, the application window has disappeared off-screen. I have made sure that the computer doesn’t still think that the extra display is connected but this makes no difference.

Help: application window in workshop disappeared

Hi All,
I had a big problem in using WebLogic Workshop. I drag & drop the windows
within WL worksop. However, I suddenly move the application window out of
the screen and it neven appears again in my workshop even I try "Alt+1".
Without the application window, I cannot open files in an application in
development. Even if I uninstall the whole platform and install again, the
window still disappeared. I tried to install the platform in another
directory, the problem still here. It seems that the workshop remembered the
whole interface setting in some places. Where does it put? I would like to
reset those.
Does any one meet the same problem? How can I rearrange the workshop windows
position back to the orginal? Many thx!

Karen,
Can you delete the following files/folders found in the C:\Documents and
Settings\Username> directory.
.workshop.pref file and .wlw , .javaws , .java and .jpi_cache directories.
This will cause the IDE preferences to be reset to teh default values.
I don't think you need to do this to be able to view the application window.
But this is the way to reset the IDE preferences.
Regarding the actual issue, have you tried Alt + 1, this will open the
Application Window.

Computer shut off while resizing my Windows partition

So, I was resizing my windows partition using gparted, like I often do, however, I stupidly decided to do it without plugging in my power supply for my macbook, and the computer ran out of battery while the resizing process was happening. Now, gparted states that dev/sda4, my windows partition, has an unknown filesystem, and my windows partition also doesn't show up in Mac OS X finder or the option-key menu at boot anymore, which leads me to believe that either the file system information or the boot information was lost when my computer shut down. Also, I was resizing my windows partition from 115 to 135gb, and gparted states that dev/sda4 is 135gb, so my computer probably shut off after the size-increasy part. I have two ideas of how to fix it at the moment. I have a Windows 8 installation disk that I can use as a repair disk, and I was also going to try using ntfsprogs in a Ubuntu live CD to see if that fixes it. However, since I'm too scared of losing my data before I accidentally overwrite anything, I decided to try and back up my important files, so I dried to mount it in Ubuntu. Strangely enough, when I ran fdisk in ubuntu, it stated that dev/sda4 was actually fat32 system instead of ntfs, and I have no idea why. I tried to mount dev/sda4 as both a fat32 system and a ntfs system, however, in both cases, terminal stated that dev/sda4 did not exist, even though it showed up in fdisk.
Anyone else accidentally shut off their system during partion resizing? There's probably different levels of severity based on where the process was, but I hope none of my personal files were deleted. I really don't mind if I have to erase my partition and reinstall Windows, (although I'd rather not) but I do want to find some way to mount the drive to back up my important files?

Adobe Applications disappeared from my Windows 8 start screen

Hi,
After a recent update to my creative cloud all my adobe apps have disappeared from my windows 8 start screen. And when I search from them from the start screen it can't find them.
If I use file explorer I can navigate to them, and the apps are still pinned to my task bar.
Any ideas?
Oh, and another issue I've just noticed, my creative cloud app won't log me in. Everytime I login it immediatly says "you have been signed out, please login in to continue.

For Windows 7, in short, you need to delete a file in the local files folder - basically resets linkages or something to the creative cloud. Then restart the CC desktop app.
