Resizing capture window

I want to capture an application window. First problem is that a dialog window is open and active, so Captivate wants to capture that dialog window. The red capture window/box however is much to big for that dialog window. I can move the red capture window to try to capture te application window instead of the open dialog window. It seems impossible however to resize the red capture window. Did I overlook something?

Did you try to choose the option 'Screen Area' in the Record dialog box (instead of Application Window), then choose Custom Size. You will get the red recording box, but it will have handles on the corners and the sides, so you can resize if necessary. Beware: in the right to you will see the dimensions. You will have to watch those dimensions. What is the screen resolution you will have to publish to? Will you include a playbar and/or TOC? Because those will take up some screen space in the published SWF. The recording box (after resizing) should ideally have the wanted size (in pixels). It is possible to rescale the project afterwards, but that results often in decrease of quality. Just a tip: try to have at least the same width/height ratio as you will have to publish to.
If you choose Custom Size, with the option 'Application' and 'Snap Recording Rectangle to Custom Size' you will also have those handles on the red recording box, but changing the size of the box will then result in changing the size of th Application Window, and I believe you will not want that situation?

  • Is it possible to resize the log and capture window?

    Hi,
    Using Final cut pro, I would like to make my capture window a bit bigger while capturing. I am capturing footage via my Blackmagic Infinity card and get the input through an HDMI cable. I'm capturing in Apple Pro ress on 720p, 59,59 fps.
    For a good overview of what I'm capturing at the moment, I would love to have a bigger capture window. For all I know, FC pro doesn't support the resizing of the log and capture window. Anyone an idea on how to solve this?
    Thank you.

    In my case, the capture window is adjustable if I am capturing SD (DVCAM) video. I can also use the scopes in this case. (Good if you are recording to disk, or using a laptop for monitoring.)
    However, both features (adjustable capture window and scopes) are not available if capturing HD (HDV in my case) video.

  • What is the size of capture window for MX440-VTD8X?

    I am trying to figure out how best to resize video I have captured with my MX440-VTD8X. For the application I am using (AVISynth) I need to calculate the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio), for this I need to know the size of the capture window for my video capture card.
    I think that this card uses a Philps SAA-7114H, although I cannot be certain as MSI don't seem to publish this fact anywhere. (I found a few references to the 7114 via Google so that is the best lead I have had so far).
    Anyway, even if I knew it used a 7114H that doesn't much help as I can't find any published data that tells me what the capture window (in microseconds) is for this card. The WDM driver might modify the window so how, so I can't just look it up in the datasheet for the 7114H.
    I am looking for figures for the capture window for both PAL and NTSC,
    could someone please help?
    many thanks,
    Kevin

    To quote from the article I have been using which gives step-by-step instructions on how to calculate to aspect ratio ..
    (Pixel Aspect Ratio, Source Aspect Ratio and Target Aspect Ratio)
    "To determine your source PAR, you first have to know what the aspect ratio of the capture window of your capture device is. This capture window is fixed, but again it is rarely exactly 4:3. The device always digitizes the same area of your video and resizes it to the size you set in your capture application. The raw captured height is always 480 lines for NTSC and 576 for PAL. The width of the capture window has to be determined. A table with known values (and a more elaborate explanation) can be found in section 5.4. A method for determining this value yourself can be found in chapter 11.
    Once you know the capture window width, the Image Aspect Ratio of your device can be calculated as:
    PAL IAR = (4 / 3) * ([window width in µs] / 52.0 µs) / (576/576)
    NTSC IAR = (4 / 3) * ([window width in µs] / 52.6555 µs) / (480/486) "
    The 'window width' is given for some capture cards in the guide, but unfortunately not the MSI one I am using, and the 'window width' does vary from one type of capture card to another.
    Without this information I am at a brick wall. There is a method to determine the window by using a PAL DVD player as the source video, playing some test image, the problem is that I only have an NTSC DVD player so I can't use that technique,
    this is something that the manufacturer must know, but unfortunately they rarely publish it,

  • Can't Get Rid of Blank Capture Window

    I have been capturing video from VHS tapes from a VCR player through a Canopus ADVC-55 analog to digital converter.  I use Windows 7.  This was working OK, but at one point Premiere Elements 9 froze during the capture and I aborted it through the Task Manager.  When I reopened PE9 a blank capture window blocking the work area appeared (see Figure).  The window cannot be closed or moved, but can be resized.
    I have made several attempts to get rid of it.
    - I started another video capture, which opened a new capture window without getting rid of this blank one.
    - Starting a new project does not get rid of the window.
    - I uninstalled and reinstalled PE9.  The blank window still opens when I start the program!
    The program is still usable by resizing the window to such a small size that I can access the controls, but I would appreciate any advice in getting rid of the stupid thing.

    Great news!
    That is the first thing that I think about, when there is some hang in the GUI.
    Next, launching PrE and IMMEDIATELY holding down Ctrl+Shift+Alt (not sure that all are required, but that works for PS and PrPro), until the program launches, and then accepting the Reset of Preferences.
    Third, would be to look at the video driver, and compare that with the very latest on the nVidia, or ATI/AMD Web site, and install the latest.
    Glad that it cleared things for you, and good luck,
    Hunt

  • "Unable to capture window image"

    if I select a window to be screenshot, I get this error:
    Your screen shot can’t be saved.
    Unable to capture window image.
    (shortcut: cmd-shift-4 and then space)
    It seems to be new in Lion. Never had that problem before. And regular screenshots seem to work fine (cmd-shift-3).
    Thanks for any help! ~ Kai

    Thanks Davide ...
    I created com.apple.screencapture.plist with Terminal and restarted the Mac.
    The first couple of window screenshots worked on a Chrome browser window (command-shift-4, then space bar). But it did not work on other app's windows (Finder, Carousel).
    Then I switched back to Chrome and I didn't work there too anymore. Crazy thing is that now it works on Finder windows. Very very strange.
    All this is only true for capturing a whole window content (command-shift-4, then space bar)

  • SCCM 2012 R2: Build and Capture - Windows 8.1 prompting for network

    I have upgraded my SCCM 2012 SP1 (CU2) to SCCM 2012 R2 and I am attempting to Build and Capture Windows 8.1 Enterprise. Everything is perfect except for the OS prompting for a network selection during the process, if I click "next" on that screen
    the Capture finishes without incident. The same is true of the Deploy as well...
    Is this a bug from my upgrade?

    Hi LillonelC
    Can you point out how and where to do this?
    When capturing with MDT 2013 on VMware I do not see this, naturaly, since the "machine" only has one network adapter.
    But when deploying to a Laptop I get the wireless Setup screen...
    On beforehand Thank You!
    With kind regards
    We aren't using MDT but what we did was create a package called Windows 8.1 - Compnents. In it  placed a file named "32Bit-Unattend.xml" and 1 named "64Bit-Unattend.xml".
    During the capture in the "Apply Operating System Image" I put a check in the box "Use an unattended or Sysprep answer file for a custom installation". The package was Windows 8.1 - Compnents the File name was "32Bit-Unattend.xml".
    I did the same for 64-bit and used the 64-bit version.
    Here is content of the 32-bit file:

    If that doesn't help I can try to clarify it a bit further.

  • How do webpage developers get Firefox to use the windows.resize or windows.moveTo javascript functions that seem to now be passed over?

    Before V7, this code worked and did as requested every time the page was run. Now, it does not work and no error is reported. Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are able to produce th correct result.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    window.resizeTo(325,700);
    window.moveTo(1150,10);
    </script>
    I have a site where I use window.open to create a login window with minimum chrome.
    On successful login, the window that created the login window updates itself to another page. The login window is supposed to resize itself and move to create a console panel to the right of the screen.
    I have tried to update the window from its parent at the point of successful login (flagged by a database change, checked frequently). I have also included code in the new window itself to resize itself to no avail.
    The new code seems to be failing on both the conditions laid out!

    Some conditions were added in 7.0 to avoid abuse of the resize and move functions:
    #Can't resize a window/tab that hasn't been created by window.open.
    #Can't resize a tab if the tab is in a window with more than one tab.

    There's still some discussion on the bug - including some solutions and troubleshooting for pages that were affected that shouldn't be - and it's being tracked to make sure it doesn't have any adverse effects.

  • Preview doesn't show up in the capture window

    When trying to capture, the video preview doesn't show up in the capture window, only the color bars. I am able to run my transport with the buttons and the key commands, so I know the Canon ZR500 is really communicating (easy setup: DV-NTSC), via firewire. My scratch disk is a G-Raid hooked up through the firwire 800 input. The crazy thing is, it worked only one time. I've wasted one whole day and this morning, restarting, rebooting, unplugging, different tapes, etc. Next step is takew my entire setup to the so-called Genius Bart and see if Apple's Geniuses know anything about Apple software. Frustrating as ****. I will never buy Apple again.

    Careful about editorializing. There are lots & lots of Mac users who are successfully capturing from Canon camcorders. I am one of them, and have never had a problem. So there is something in your setup that needs to be uncovered, it's not FCE or Canon per se.
    One observation, you have a small hard drive (100GB) and even though you appear to have 59GB free, that's actually not a lot of space. One hour of DV consumes about 13GB and during capture the Mac temporarily needs nearly 2x that space, which means your system is using the 'inner' cylinders of the hard drive, where performance slows down; this could explain your dropped frames problem. Can you move some stuff off your system HD onto your G-RAID (say, your iPhoto and iTunes libraries if you are using those apps, they often take a lot of disk space)?

  • Using javascript to resize the window

    I've got a project that I would like to resize depending on which slide the learner is viewing.
    I' aware that the javascript method:
    window.resizeTo(width,height)
    can be used to resize a window.
    In my case I want it to be for the tall window:
    window.resizeTo(1016,650)
    and for the short window;
    window.resizeTo(1016,165)
    I'm also aware that you can tell a button (or anything else) to execute javascript.
    I'm having trouble making it work, tough.
    I've tried putting the method directly into the Script_Window for the button.
    I've tried writing a function in the published file, then having the button call that function.
    Can you paste javascript snippets into the Script_Window? Or do you need go the whole 9 yards and write the entire function, name the button instance, and tell the Captivate button to call that function?
    I'm just now sure how much Captivate knows how to do and how much I need to tell it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Joe

    Thanks for your response, Jim.
    My window was created by a previous window using the code:
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function newWindow() {
    TheNewWin = window.open("main.htm","newWin","status=no,resizable=yes,left=0,top=0,width=1014,height=6 50");
    TheNewWin.focus()
    </script>
    I tried the code above in the ScriptWindow of a Captivate button (running in a Captivate SWF in the new window). It didn't work.
    I also tried:
    TheNewWin.resizeTo(1016,165);
    and
    newWin.resizeTo(1016,165);
    neither of which worked.
    Any other guidance would be appreciated.

  • Resizing IE window makes game errors

    I am running Windows Vista and the latest Java Run Time, If I open up runescape in full screen the game plays with no problems, if I then resize the window (smaller) visually it looks fine until I try to click somewhere with the mouse, and I end up clicking an inch or so under where I wanted, if I resize back to full screen it is fine again.
    Conversely if I open the screen window in small the game works fine, if I then resize (larger) I get the image the same size as the small screen and the rest of the screen is white and once again the mouse does not click in the right place.
    I have the latest driver from NVIDEA, however this may have something to do with it, I updated the driver because the older driver kept failing and closing the game window down, I no longer get that problem, just replaced it with a new one.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks for reading.

    Hi Isla
    Your message is really, very, very long. I think its too long to read it twice ;)
    . Regarding all your issues on this notebook well. it looks like you have installed many 3rd party programs and applications. In such case its not easy to say if such issues are software or hardware related. But I presume its software.
    I checked your screenshot pic but I have never seen such error message. But it looks like something wrong with the graphic card driver. The message says something about Live Kernel Event
    A kernel's services are requested by other parts of the operating system like graphic card driver for example.
    In such case I would recommend updating the graphic driver. According to you message its a Intel GPU. So you could check the Intel page for the compatible graphic chip driver.
    Regarding the FN key issue;
    The Toshiba FlashCard utility controls the FN key functionality. I have read in this forum that this application does not run smoothly and in some cases it causes some issues. The new update should solve the problems. You should check the Toshiba driver page. The FlashCard Utility is a part of the Toshiba Value added package.
    So finally one more hint:
    You should always check for the Vista updates on the Microsoft page. This OS is not perfected and Microsoft releases very often patches and fixes
    Hope it could helps a little bit.
    If necessary just ask for more info :)
    Regards

  • Capture window always uses the wrong name-

    Hello everyone, I'm having this problem… when I go to capture HDV footage the Capture Window always remembers the name of the LAST clip I captured, when I change it and do all my capturing I find out that all my clips (and with HDV that can be a lot) have still retained the wrong name (in the browser and on my scratch disk). I tried trashing preferences and it works for the first time and goes back to this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Yes i did read your post. And please do not write in capital letters, that is considered shouting.
    But there are people that want to use the capture window for the wrong reasons. Hence my explanation.
    Hold shift+alt while opening Premiere that resets some features.
    See if that will help.
    Bob: the capture window is under File and Window. Shortcut is F5.
