Resizing photos to use for wallpaper

Just got my Droid Razr, how do I get my Gallery photos to fit on my wallpaper??  They are too big, I see the orange box that you can use to resize but the photos are still too big and out of focus when I chose them for wallpaper. ???

Wrong, am able to use old pictures as wall paper.  Open your camera roll - photos - select the pic - hit the up arrow and then use as wall paper
I just test this from a picture I took in 2005.

  • Why can't resize picture to use for wallpaper?

What program can I use to resize picture for wallpaper. The new system won't let you resize.

I suggest using a photo editor on your computer. There may be one on the iPad that let's you resize a photo to specific pixel dimensions. PhotoForge2 allows you to do that but since Google bought PhotoForge it is no longer in the App Store.
Using your image processing app, increase or decrease the image size to one of the following, depending on the device you’re targeting:
    iPad 2 and iPad mini: 1,424 x 1,424
    iPad 3 and iPad 4: 2,448 x 1,936
    iPad Air: 2,448 x 1936
    iPhone 4S: 1,360 x 1,040
    iPhone 5: 1,536 x 1,040

  • Can I move an iPhoto book to another iPhoto library  (which contain the photo's used for the book)

I have imported a lot of photos from a travel from friends in my iPhoto library. I created and ordered a beautiful book for them, but I do want to get rid of all the photo;s from my library. So I have used iPhoto Library Manager to create a library for all these photos. Unfortunately it did not copy the book itself. So I still cannot delete all the photos from my main library.
Is there a way to copy the photo book (it was a lot of work) to the new library or save it in any other way so I can delete their photos from my main library?

    no
Books are just databae entries and can not be moved independently - you can ony move the entire library - you can make a smaller library containing only the book for ease of moving and archiving - see Old Toad's Tutorial #9

  • Can I crop a self photo to use for an ID photo?

I need to make a photo 1 1/4" by 1 1/2" for a photo ID.  Can I use iPhoto or Aperture to crop a head and shoulders photo from a larger photo?
I can crop from Preview .  Is there a way to set the proper dimensions so it will print the correct size (1 1/4" by 1 1/2") ?

    In iPhoto crop to 125 x 150 and print setting print size to 1 1/4" x 1 1/2"

  • Photo to use for Album

The album image seems to be the first photo in the album. Is there a way to select a different picture?
My albums are shared from iPhoto and are kept in order by title. I know I can use a title for the cover picture that will make it sort first, but then it displays in the collection of photos for that album.

One of the user requested features that Apple didn't bother to add to iWeb '09 was exactly what you are talking about and also being able to display photos in portrait mode in an album.
We ask, they don't listen or can't do it.

  • Is it safe to delete photo after using for contact

Okay, I took a photo and captured it for a Contact. Now that it is assigned to a Contact is it safe to delete from the Camera Roll? Do I have to leave it in my photo album in order to see it when my Contact calls?

I have erased pictures after I assigned them to a contact and mine remain with the contact. I hope this helps.

  • Why does pictures used as wallpaper on a previous gen 4 IPad become too big for my current gen 4 IPad?

After a refurb gen 4 iPad 32GB lost it's display, it was replaced. The current gen 4 IPad 32GB is running  version 7.1.2. The same pictures from the same source that were used for wallpaper on the old IPad, are "over zoomed" on this IPad. The attempts to "Move and Scale" when assigning to the lock or home page doesn't work and can't figure out if the "Perspective Zoom" is affecting anything. Attempts to save new and different pictures and use them as wallpaper results in the same "over zoomed" picture. Are there any fixes or adjustment to this predicament ?

Take a look at some of the "More Like This" posts below. It's explained in great detail in other threads already.

  • Photo Library Images as Wallpaper all messed up

    Hi All,
    this one's driving me nuts.
I have a bunch of photos synched from aperture to my iPhone 4 (iOS4.1). In the Photo Library, they look amazing. all good. High resolution, crisp - impressive.
If I attempt to use one as my Lock or Home screen, the Settings app only gives me what looks like a blown up postage stamp sized image - totally unusable.
I've removed all photos, and synched. added them back and synched, but nothing seems to work. the photos that look flawless in the Photo Library are junk when used for wallpaper.
Anyone know why two versions are being used and how to get rid of the crappy ones?
    Ben.

I'm taking long deep breaths to keep from yelling and cursing. I read the article and found that nothing would work but putting everything (23 GB) back on my C: drive. I had to move other folders and finally put everything back. Then the original (I suppose) iTunes library seemed to work. Still I had to move and/or re-identify dozens of items. Finally everything worked. I then used the "correct" instructions and moved everything. All seemed okay. I tested everything and it worked. I then did the final instruction - to delete the original iTunes Music folder. Not the iTunes folder on C: - but the iTunes music folder. Now everything is GONE again. The lists in iTunes show everything but nothing will play because it doesn't know where anything is. I can only assume that the iTunes library was in the iTunes Music folder that the instructions said to erase. And no my Recycle bin is not active. several years ago I got tired of running out of disk space and having to erase everything twice. I have tried opening iTunes with everying iTunes Library file on every disk I have and nothing works. So I have to do everything all over again.
Not asking for advice. Not blaming anyone. Just saying.

  • Setting picture for wallpaper on iPad

I can't scale photo used for wallpaper. Photo comes up too large and blurry.

This is known issue with iOS7.  I'm sure an update will take care of this, but in the meantime, I have found that High Definition pictures work well as wallpaper.  Of course you can choose one of the new Wallpapers that came with iOS7 as well.

  • Is Apple working on a fix for editing photos for wallpaper, call contacts with photo, etc? The iPhone used to be so intuitive for everything but that tanked with the ios7 upgrade

iPhone 5 was so intuitive before the update. Editing photos has changed for the worst-any word of a fix for editing photos for wallpaper? Not a work around, a fix. If I wanted this kind of photo editing I'd still be using my droid x.
Anyway to go back to ios6?

Is Apple working on a fix for editing photos for wallpaper, call contacts with photo, etc?
    How would we know?
What's broken that you think needs to be fixed?
Anyway to go back to ios6?
    No

  • Can I use my photos and add them or substitute them for wallpaper.

Can I use my photos and add them or substitute them for wallpaper on the Ipod Touch?  If so, what procedure is suggested to add the photos and use them.
    Thank you for your help.

Here are the instructions form the Users Guide:
    Adding Wallpaper
You can set an image or photo as wallpaper for the Lock screen. You can also set
wallpaper for your Home screen. You can choose an image that came with iPod touch,
or a photo synced to iPod touch from your computer.
Set wallpaper (iPod touch 3rd generation or later):
1 In Settings, choose Wallpaper, tap the image of the Lock and Home screens, then tap
    Wallpaper or an album.
2 Tap to choose an image or photo. If you choose a photo, drag to position it and pinch
to zoom in or out, until it looks the way you want.
3 Tap Set, then choose whether you want to use the photo as wallpaper for your Lock
    Screen, Home screen, or both.
SInce you said you have iOS 4.3.2, you must and a 3 or 4G ipod.

  • Resize photos for online use

I have been trying all afternoon to resize photos for online use and can not follow directions given.  I know it must be simple but I am stumped.  I would like to speak to a real person and I'm sure my problem will be solved in less than five minutes.  PLEASE do not tell me to follow guidelines; I have tried that.
    Kay Wilhelm

    Hi Kay,
As an example, let's say we're trying to prepare this 1000x664 pixel, 1MB image for online posting.
If the website you're posting to is giving you a maximum dimension, for example that the image has to be 600 pixels across or less, then follow these 4 steps:
    1. Go to File -> Save for Web
    2. In the Save for Web panel, look for the Image Size boxes.
    3. Enter the desired dimension.  For example, if the website you're trying to upload to requires that images be 600 pixels across, enter 600 in the Width box.  The height should recalculate automatically.
    4. Hit the Save button.  You will now have an image saved to the required pixel dimensions!
If the requirement is for a maximum file size, rather than specific file dimensions, you would follow a different procedure.  If we were trying to resize the same 1000x664 pixel, 1MB image to a size of 100KB or less, we would follow these steps:
    1. Go to File -> Save for Web
    2. In the upper right hand corner of the Save for Web panel, make sure the format is set to JPEG.  Our original image was a PNG, which tends to have a larger file size.  JPEG images tend to have a smaller file size.
    3. In the Save for Web panel, look for the projected size of the file as saved with the current settings.  This is below the lower left hand corner of the image.  In this case, it is 170KB, which is higher than our desired maximum size of 100KB.
    3.  The easiest way to control the file size at a given pixel dimension is by reducing the image quality.  The controls for image quality are in the upper right hand corner of the Save for Web panel.  The default setting for JPEG exports is 60%.
    4.  You will need to determine how far you want to reduce the image quality in your particular case.  In this example, we can reduce the quality from 60% to 40% without affecting the visible image quality too much.  Setting the quality to 40% reduces the image size to 99KB, which is below our maximum of 100KB.
    5. When you are satisfied with the quality settings, press Save to save your image.
    Hope this helps!
