Resizing photos within a project

Does anyone know how I can resize a photo or image that is already within a new project?
Usually I open the image separatly copy and then paste it into my project however it would be much easier to do it within the new document as opposed to separatly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

File menu > Place. The placed photos will come in as smart objects, which allows you to resize again and again without quality loss. At any point you can rasterize the smart object to make it the same as any other layer.

  • Crop and Resize photo within the COD service in ESS

Anyway to crop and resize photo within the COD webdynpro java component in ESS?

No what i mean is how to allow the user to upload a photo using the COD service but also allow them to crop and resize the image as documented here:
[How to Add Image Crop and Resize Capabilities in Web-Based Applications|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/10ab79a4-1fc2-2b10-29bb-ef9ff6771e72]
The solution above does not use the webdynpro COD service in ESS, it is a portal component with embedded JavaScript which also only stores the photo on portal only (not the infotype in ECC).  I guess I need to figure out how to add these javascript files to the webdynpro COD service in ESS.  Although I don't think Webdynpro Java allows you to add javascript.

  • Move/Resize photo within a mask?

I've been trying to figure this out forever:
When I drag one of my photos onto a placeholder image that is on an Apple template, it replaces it just fine. The problem I have is that I want to be able to move/resize my image around inside the mask until it fits just how I want it to. Is this possible?
In other words, I want the mask area to stay where it is and have JUST my image move around inside of the mask.
    Any ideas?

Unfortunately, the instructions here do not refer to the thumbnail photos in the photo template. Is that what you are asking about?
Aside from setting the maximum caption height, there really isn't a whole lot you can do to type more into those boxes. Here are some things to try...
    1. Make the caption font used teeny tiny so that you can squish more words in there. Obviously this has its limits.
    2. Try overlaying the caption area with your own text box. Then at least you can make it as big as you want. You may have to fill the textbox with the background color in order to fully cover up the existing caption box.
    Just some random ideas.

  • New Apple TV: 1) read all photos from Aperture (projects) 2) assign music

    Hi,
i'd like to buy your new AppleTV but would like to know:
    1) Is it possible to real all the photos within Aperture Projects ?
With AppleTV 1 gen isn't possible, i need to create first album cause photo in projects aren't shown!
    2) i'd like to pre-assign for each slideshow a music (from iTunes): is it possible with 2nd gen Apple TV ?

Yes, I have the same issue also.
It look like only the last import is missing somehow.
For example, yesterday I import photos from DC and iPhone, and put them in one event.
Only the DC part shown up, and iPhone photo are missing.
If I use "Last 12 month" section in Apple TV and jump to bottom, you can see some empty squares, and not viewable. Somehow it is not updated.

  • How do I resize photos to fit within Source or Program?

I was able to do so in Source or Program before but no longer able to. Using PP5.5. Just setup my editing system, using exact same equipment, after not in use for four months. I had edited other projects where I had to resize photos and was always able to resize within the Source or Program monitor.

Right-click any clip on the timeline and choose "Scale to Fit". Or set that up in Preferences (does not affect media already imported) so it is automatic. Can still be manually over-ridden on timeline on a per-clip basis. Easier than scaling a lot of stills one by one.

  • I have photos that are rotated within a photo stream created from a project even though the photo displays properly within the project. How can I get the photos to have the proper rotation within the photo stream?

I have a photo stream that was created from a subset of photo from a rather large Aperature project. Some of the photos show up rotated within the photo stream but are not rotated within the project. Why is this happening and how do I fix the rotation within the photo stream? I do have the latest version of Aperature and have all of the necessary updates applied to my devices used to view the photo stream. The photos do show up rotated within the photo stream segment of Aperature, so I am sure it is not an issue with the output device (iPad and Apple TV). I do know that I cannot edit photos within a photo stream, but no amount of editing within the project allows the photos to be properly rotated within the photo stream. All help would be greatly appreciated.

That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.

  • I can no longer drag photos in Aperture (within a project, between projects

I find that suddenly I cannot drag photos in Aperture.  In other words, I cannot MOVE a photo at all, whether within a project or between projects and albums, &c.  Not only this, but I cannot copy & paste either.  I can still export photos, though.
I noticed this first a couple of hours ago when attempting to attach a photo into an email using the Mail application.  It wouldn't budge.  I thought it might have been a problem with the Mail program but no, it appears to be in Aperture because I then tried to drag the photo directly from Aperture into the email (which I've been doing for years).
I've done a rebuild and all that, yet the problem remains.
Any suggestions as to what I might do other than export the whole library to Lightroom and start learning all over again?

    Can you confirm:
    - that this is true for many Images?  Try different Images in several Projects.  If possible, try with an Image you had been able to drag-and-drop into Mail in the past.
    - that you can't drag from a Project to an Album.
    - that the Image you can't drag-and-drop has a Preview?  ("Photos➞Update Preview")
What do you mean us to understand with the "and all that" part of "I've done a rebuild and all that, yet the problem remains"?

  • Moving photos around  within imovie project

I am creating a slide show using imovie and when I imported the folder from iphoto, it rearranged all the photos. Is there an easy way to move them around within the project? I'm using imovie'11 for the first time.
    thx

You can drag them in the iMovie project to wherever you want them.
Also, if you drag in from an iPhoto event, it seems to import in chronological order or something. However, if you create an iPhoto album, you can arrange the order in the album. When you import the album into iMovie through the iMovie Photo Browser, it will retain the order of the iPhoto Album.

  • Filtering on used/unused photos within projects (un-/used e.g. in books, -)

    Hello,
I'm trying to clean up my library by removing (archiving) all those unused photos.
This means: all photos from a project should be removed which are not used in any album, book, web-gallery, etc. (or better: moved to a different backup project, which is later exported and burned to DVD)
I can't find a way to do this? How can I find out, whether a picture is used somewhere, or not?
How can I filter on those, to remove unused pictures from a project?
    Best regards,
    Bernhard

If you know the structure of the Aperture database you could get to an answer pretty quickly, If you would like to know a fairly simple way that will work for just about anyone that uses Aperture and is non technical here is a suggestion:
If all of the albums, books, web pages etc that you care about are contained inside the same project that the masters/versions of the images that you wish to isolate then here is what I would suggest something like the following.
    1) Inside a given project create a yellow folder called "used" or something.
    2) move all of the albums, books, etc into this folder. (even subfolders if you wish)
    3) click on the yellow folder, the browser will now show all of the versions contained in all of the objects
    4) select all of the images in the folder and add a special keyword like "USED" or "XXXYYYZZZ" , something that you never use for anything else.
    5) click back on the yellow project box and open the browser search hud and search for all images that do NOT have the keyword you just added.
This should take about 5 seconds to do and should work very well for relatively simple library structures. If you have a more complex set up you should be able to adapt something like this to your needs.

  • Resizing images within Mail not working in Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard on both my desktop (iMAC Quad Core) and my MacBook Pro. I'm now experiencing an issue when I attach images within the Mail application.
In the past, if I attached an image I could resize it by selecting the option at the lower right of the window and it would scale the image accordingly. Now if I select "large" it resizes the image as if I selected small. It's tiny, like 30KB. I tried it on both machines and I get the same thing.
This was never an issue before upgrading to Snow Leopard. In the past if I selected "large" it would scale my image down to roughly 4X6 300dpi.
Has anyone else found a fix for this issue?
    Thanks so much!
    Michael

    Hi Terence,
    thanks for your reply.
But i have now a Problem!
iPhoto 09 itself can send max. 10 pics in one mail. When i drag & drop more photos to mail as attachement, mail can´t resize photos with greater than 150dpi correctly.
I have many photos greater than 150 dpi
With new iPhoto 09 i can not send:
    1. more than 10 photos
    2. without "zipping"
with mail i can send more than 10 photos at one time but i cant resize these images!
Allso whe i use this way:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2627690&tstart=0
The only way to send more than 10 photos with resizing the images is:
    1. export these photos from iphoto to a folder with resizing function
    2. drag or attach these photos to a mail
    3. send mail
    4. delete the created folder with images
    5. empty trash
iPhoto 8 can send many photos at one time including resizing and display the estimated size of mail (e.g. Megabytes).

  • Changing an album within a project book

How do I change to a different album within a project.  I am making a photo book with iPhoto and it loaded an album that I wanted to work with.  However, there are albums that have photos I wanted added to this project.  I have tried dragging and dropping and that didn't work, I have tried double clicking and that didn't work, all it did was open the album in iPhoto, not on the project book "timeline" of photos to choose from.

I have a project with 40 images and a second project with 85 images; how can I create an album in the first project
To create an album in the first project, select the project in Library view and use the command "File > New > Album".
If you create an album, you can drag images from any project to it - so the album can hold images from both your projects. But if you want to keep the images from the second project in the album, you must not delete the second project. Each image needs to reside in exactly one project. Albums only use images, they don't store them. See Kirby Krieger's excellent User Tip on the mysteries of albums and projects:
                     The Well-Trod Path: a Beginner's Guide to how Aperture's major parts inter-relate
If you want to delete the second project, but keep the images in your library and use them in an album, drag the images from the second project to another project. And only then delete the second project, if you do not need it.

  • Changing Filenames within a Project

I need to know how to change the File Names within a project. I know how to change them on import and export, but I need to rename my files that are already in a project. How do I do that?
    Kevin Hawkins

Just remember that the batch change does not change the actual file names on your hard drive. It changes the version names in Aperture. However, here is how I work around it:
    1) After a shoot, I import my photos into the Aperture library.
    2) Then I edit and rename them. The renaming is done by selecing all of the images, then going to METADATA>BATCH CHANGE
    3) Then I relocate them from inside the Aperture library to my photo hard drive (FILE>RELOCATE MASTERS). In the dialog box for this process, be sure to select "Version Name" for the Name Format.
Once you relocate your masters using this method, the file names on your hard drive will be changed and match the names in Aperture.

  • How to resize photos for web pages

Can photos be resized within iPhoto to be used on a web site?  If not what is the best program to do this to keep good quality photos but have a fast reloading time.

I need to edit photos for print and then create a second version for the web.
You can resize photos as you export from iPhoto - use a custom size and set what you need and upload the exported photos
This is how you do that - you can not "resize" within iPhoto - you resize (and make another copy) when you export.
As to your saving photos form PS into the iPhoto library and wondering why it does not work - it is becaus you must NEVER make any changes of any sor tto the structure or content of the iPhoto library using any program other than iPhoto - saving a photo into the iPhoto libray is not supported and will not work - you set PS as the external editor and when you finish editing you save and iPhoto handles the new image

  • Photos missing from project after initial import

I'm having an issue where after initial importing pictures into Aperture, I can no longer find them within the project.  Initially I can see them fine after the import, but when I relaunch Aperture, they are gone. The project itself exists and I when I move the cursor over the project icon, I can see the images (and they also appear in project info), but when I click on the project, it has no photos inside it. I have checked and it appears all filters are turned off from the browser view.
Also, when I try to re-import the photos, Aperture identifies them as duplicates.
I did have an issue a month ago where Aperture crashed a few times while trying to import.  I repaired permissions and the database, but am still getting a warning to repair the database each time I open Aperture.  I have not yet run rebuild, as I am concerned about this messing up the library (I am current on my backups).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Independent of Tony's suggested fix, it looks like you are having a more general problem. We need to know more to see, what might be causing this. What version of Aperture are you using? What is your MacOS X version?
It would be good to know, if your frequent "repair"  problem only occurs for your current Aperture library. Create a new, empty Aperture library and import a few test images.
Do you have the same problem with a new library?
If not, where is your Aperture library stored? In the default location in "Pictures" or on an external drive? Are you sharing your library with other user accounts? How much free disk space do you have?

  • Photo within a photo

    Hi all,
I'm new to the forum as well to Photoshop itself, so please pardon the newbee questions.
In putting together art work for CDs and DVDs, I would like to put a small photo within a larger one. I assume you would overlap layers (?) But when I open a new photo (the smaller one) it has its own set of layers.
How do I set a photo within another?
To clarify, I'm using Photoshop Elements 3.
    Thanks,
    --Barry

    Barry
Working with layers is confusing for many new users so don't feel too frustrated.
    Method 1
    Open Image 1.
    Open Image 2.
    Click Windows>Images>Tile.
You can now drag your second photo into the first photo. It should create its own layer that you can move/resize with the Move Tool.
    Method 2
Open the image you want to move.
    Select All Edit Copy.
    Close this image.
Open the image you want to hold both images.
    Edit Paste.
It should create its own layer that you can move/resize with the Move Tool.
The only difference is how many windows you have open at one time. I prefer working with only one open window, but that is strictly personal preference.
