Resizing photos

Hi,
How can I resize a photo's length and width to specific pixels?
( For example, if I need a photo to measure no more than 1000 pixels width and 700 pixels height)?
I need to resize some photos in order to email them into a competition.
TIA for any help!

Thanks- the dialogue box lets you input the 'maximum' pixels for height and width, but doesn't let you specifically choose the height and width- that's what I'm looking for.

  • Looking for app to quickly with keyboard shortcut (i.e. Control   R) resize photos like I can do with Irfanview in Windows

    Hello,
I am trying to switch from Windows to OSX but must first find Mac equivalent solutions for daily tasks performed in Windows.
    1. I am looking for an app to quickly resize photos using keyboard shortcuts, i.e. Control + R, just like I can do with Irfanview in Windows.
    2. I am looking for an app which will quickly resize multiple photos like I can do with Irfanview.
    3. I am looking for another (or the same) light weight app to quickly convert and combine one or more jpgs to PDF. The windows app I am currently using is called JPEGtoPDF from www.compulsivecode.com.
Many thanks for helping me switch to OSX!

Photoshop Elements has the ability to sync and save photos in Adobe Revel with the use of mobile albums. Photoshop Elements is a consumer product that is not included in creative cloud. Photoshop is the professional photo editing app that is included in Creative Cloud.

  • How do i resize photo attachment in icloud mail

How do I resize photo attachment in icloud mail. The resize button does not appear as it did  before.

Using iCloud mail online via a browser does not offer the option to resize the photo.  It's only available when emailing from iPhoto so iPhoto can do the resizing as it adds the image to the email.  Safari or whatever browser you're using doesn't have that capability.

  • How to save resized photo in the event

I am having trouble saving my resized photo in my event. When I open an event, choose the photo I want to resize, and use the export feature, I am unable to choose my event as a place to save to. Any suggestions. What I end up doing is saving it somewhere else I don't want to based on my limited choices in the drop down and moving it to the event. This is a hassle.
I also tried to resize the photo using the preview program and saving it to my event. THis way I at least got the option, but the saved file doesn't show up in the iphoto event, only in the finder when I view all of my photos.
Any suggestions. In a perfect world I just want to upload photos from my camera, iphoto creates an event which is great. and now I just want to resize them and have the original and the resized photo in the same event visible in iphoto. Is this possible?

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
If you want to have two different resolutions of a photo in iPhoto (and I can think of no reason to have this) you have to export the photo in the second resolution and import that new photo into iPhoto
You should never "save" anything into the iPhoto library - iPhoto is a database and you should never add or modify anything inside the iPhoto library

  • Resizing photos in iPhoto 6

    Hello,
I've been doing this in Photoshop for a long while now, but am curious as to how to resize photos using iPhoto 6. I don't seen an obvious way to do this, but I'm probably just missing it. What I want to do is take an image at 2816x2112 and resize it to 800x600, without cropping. How do you do this in iPhoto 6?

found the answer by doing a little more searching in the forums!

  • Iweb photo page resizes photos

It seems no matter what I do I cannot get an iweb photo page to NOT resize my photos. On a photo page I have gone to the inspector and selected none and original for the photo download size and iweb still resizes the photos when I publish to a folder. I am pulling the photos in from iphoto. In iphoto the photos are full size (3MB +). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

ImageWell allows you to resize photos either by dimensions or by total size in kilobytes, and then you can upload them. It has a batch option too. Seems as though iPhoto should allow this but I haven't found it.

  • Resizing photos in Preview

    Hey...
When I attempt to resize photos in Preview... sometimes it works, but more often it doesn't. I can try to save the image after the resize, or I've tried closing the image and forcing the Preview Save dlg box... either way... sometimes it works, i.e., actually resizes the image, but, more often, it doesn't.

Things seem to have gone terribly wrong with the Preview features regarding size and the window, zooming, zoom to fit, and so on. Be sure to let Apple know:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
The results I'm getting are all over the map, in terms of behavior, which is not consistent, let alone on a par with the Leopard version of Preview.

  • How do I resize photos to fit within Source or Program?

I was able to do so in Source or Program before but no longer able to. Using PP5.5. Just setup my editing system, using exact same equipment, after not in use for four months. I had edited other projects where I had to resize photos and was always able to resize within the Source or Program monitor.

Right-click any clip on the timeline and choose "Scale to Fit". Or set that up in Preferences (does not affect media already imported) so it is automatic. Can still be manually over-ridden on timeline on a per-clip basis. Easier than scaling a lot of stills one by one.
    Thanks

  • How do I resize photos to add to a document?

please help, need to find a way to resize photos and add to document

    Rather depends on
where the photos are? in iPhoto? Somewhere else?
What do you mean by Resize? The length x breadth? The file size?
What document? Word processor document? Something else? What app is making this document?

  • How to resize photos for web pages

Can photos be resized within iPhoto to be used on a web site?  If not what is the best program to do this to keep good quality photos but have a fast reloading time.

I need to edit photos for print and then create a second version for the web.
You can resize photos as you export from iPhoto - use a custom size and set what you need and upload the exported photos
This is how you do that - you can not "resize" within iPhoto - you resize (and make another copy) when you export.
As to your saving photos form PS into the iPhoto library and wondering why it does not work - it is becaus you must NEVER make any changes of any sor tto the structure or content of the iPhoto library using any program other than iPhoto - saving a photo into the iPhoto libray is not supported and will not work - you set PS as the external editor and when you finish editing you save and iPhoto handles the new image

  • Problems resizing photos?

In my search to resize photos without exporting the I discovered that clicking on the little arrow on the bottom right corner of a photo gave a menu that allowed an edit in an external editor  (photo shop). That accomplished, 'save as' replaces the photo in iphoto library with the smaller photo. Iphoto, however, still displays the original size in the 'info' tab.  When the photo is edited an option to 'make a copy' appears.  Make the duplicate and delete the version edited in photoshop. Bob's yer Uncle!  I've been fighting with this over the years as my photos got bigger and bigger.

Yes - iPhoto uses a SLQite database and does non destructive editing - the contents of that database must never be changed by any program other than the database manager (iPhoto)  because when the database manager accesses the photo it will not be what is expected
So when you edit a photo no changes are made - an edit list is created and when you display or export that photo those changes are applied to the original - if it is different than it was when the edits were made then the results will be wrong
in any case you must NEVER make any changes in the structure or content of the iphoto library - doing so corrupts it. if you want to destructively edit photos or manage their location or in any other way corrupt the library you should not use iPhoto - you should use a program that does what you want

  • How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09?

How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09? I can zoom in or out, but I can't figure out how to make a photo smaller. Is this just because I am working in a Contemporary book format, using a 2 photos per page layout? I'd like to work with maximum flexibility, like starting from the blank template in iWeb, where I can add any number of photos, text, and change all the sizes. Is this possible? Thanks.

How do you resize photos on a page of a book created in iPhoto '09? I can zoom in or out, but I can't figure out how to make a photo smaller.
You resize the photo by clicking on it and zooming
You can not resize the photo frame
Is this just because I am working in a Contemporary book format, using a 2 photos per page layout?
No they all work the same - see Liz Castro's page - http://www.lizcastro.com/iphotobookthemes/ - for a detailed description of iPhoto '08 layouts - all of those carry forward to iPhoto '09 plus there are new ones that she has not documented yet
I'd like to work with maximum flexibility, like starting from the blank template in iWeb, where I can add any number of photos, text, and change all the sizes. Is this possible?
Not in iWeb but you can do pages in any page layout program (word, pagemaker, pages, etc) and print to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option to create a totally custom page - see Old Toad's tutorial #19 - http://web.mac.com/toad.hall/OldToadsTutorials/No._19.html - for directions

  • Resize photos option in Preview not working

I use Preview to resize my photos depending on where I'm posting or sending to. Since I've downloaded Yosemite I will resize photo  and it's not working. I have my photos in iCloud drive & am working between an iMac and a iMac Pro. I'm trying to resize to send out to  have printed vs. at home printing. This problem has only happened since upgrading to Yosemite. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Resizing works fine here.
    Best practice is:
    Open image in Preview
Tools > Adjust size;    enter the new values and click OK
Press the option button then     File Save As give it a new name and save to desktop
