Hi, newby here. Any guidance how I can increase the image size after scanning so i can import to ebay with the correct size file? image imported is very small. Any guidance greatly appreciated! HPD110 to pc

Hi,I wonder how can I accomplish the image resizing process. Do I need another image resizing SDK to help customize the size of images? I am almost a green hand here. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.   Best regards,Arron

  • Scan Image For Restore Question...

So I made a backup image of my HD.
After running "Scan Image For Restore" this is what showed up in console...
    Mar 16 17:15:38 localhost authexec: executing /usr/sbin/asr
    Mar 16 17:23:19 localhost diskarbitrationd[87]: disk2s2 hfs 3ABFFEEC-D371-3B4A-A7B2-B0262310F884 Macintosh HD [not mounted]

Mar 16 17:36:46 localhost kernel: jnl: writejournalheader: error writing the journal header!
    Does that look right?
Obviously there was an error writing the journal header because it was read only correct? What about the "strategy err"? - Is that how the log's suppose to look after running "Scan Image For Restore"?
    Thanks in advance folks!

  • Disk Utility: What does "scan image for restore" do?

Before restoring a disk image, I know that I need to use Disk Utility's "Scan Image for Restore…" feature.
Exactly what does this feature do?

    I asked because I didn't know.
I was helping someone upgrade his PowerMac G5 from the original 80GB hard drive to a 1TB drive.
Since the G5 can accommodate two internal drives, I could have simply added the new drive and used Disk Utility's "restore" feature to migrate his data directly from the old drive to the new drive.
But it was more convenient for me to work at home so I removed the old drive, and brought it home along with the new drive.
I couldn't connect both drives to my MacBook Pro, since I only have one SATA drive dock. So I did it like this:
    1. Connected the old drive to my SATA dock.
    2. Create a disk image from his old drive, saving it to an external USB drive.
    3. Disconnected the old drive from the SATA dock and connected the new one.
    4. Restore the disk image to the new drive
Of course, when I tried step 4, I got an error message about needing to do a scan first. That's what led me to this question.
I have a follow-up question: When I created the image, I didn't bother changing the default image format, which is "compressed." If I had given the matter a little thought, I could have created a read-only image, since I would never need to change the image.
If I had used read-only, would Disk Utility have created the checksums on-the-fly when it created the disk image?

  • Print-off the scanned images for vendor invoices

    Required report.
Print-off the scanned images for vendor invoices
Basically, his selection screen will be:
                Vendor Invoice   XXXXXXXXXX  to    XXXXXXXXXX
Once the user executes the program a list of invoices is presented to the screen.
Then the user will be able to select one or several of these invoices and click a ‘print’ button.
However, the attachments are stored in Adobe .pdf format.
    Kind Regards
    Mark H,

    Hi,
Write a report to fetch the data from Tables RBKP and RSEG for the vendor INvoices,  based on the Invoice No(BELNR) entered on the Selection screen.
display them with the required fields on the first list. Take a single  CHAR field in the internal table for CHECK BOX and display that Internal Table fields.
Keep buttons (SELECT and PRINT) on the MENU of the output screen  for processing the selected records on the output and printing the selected records in the interactive report using AT USER-COMMAND function.
    reward if useful

  • Disk Utility - Scan Image for Restore - Freeze

I backed up my wife's iBook by starting her computer in target disk to my iBook which has a huge external attached. After about an hour, the image process was complete. Apple disk utility help says next to scan image for restore (not too sure why because I'm not restoring anything unless her drive dies). I begin the scan image for restore and get the progress bar that never shows and progress. Just keeps spinning/scanning for hours and I have no option to shut if off. Can't move external to trash because it in use, etc.
Does this mean the original disk image may be bad? Do over?
I'm using Disk Image as a solution for a total disk backup if a drive fails. No messing around with reconfiguring apps, etc. (i.e. plug and play) Is this the best way to do this?
I come from the Mac Plus days. Hopefully I can contribute to the new OS discussions at some point. Thank you much!

What format is the external drive?
    Is it Firewire or USB?
Does the external drive have one of those front button touch things, like a My Book?

It can take quite awhile, and the progress bar isn't accurate at all, but it sounds like something is wrong.

  • Disk Utility: after creating the .DMG (compressed image) When "scan image for restore" finishes it displays "unable to scan (internal error)". Since the process was scanning for about 1 hr is this a fake warning?

External 500GB drive is partitioned with 400GB for Mac OS extended (journalling) and 2nd partition formatted today as "ExFAT".
Yesterday I tried to create a disk image of my HD to no avail - this was compressed on a FAT partition. I got a warning after running the <scan image for restore> saying "unable to scan (internal error)"
I rang Apple support who suggested formatting a partition as MAC OS extended (journalling) and choose to save the image as "read/write'. The image process stopped writing at about 200GB and then the file size jumped to 499GB (ie the size of the HD). But the process did nothing for about an hour so I foce quit disk utility (as suggested by apple support)
My current attempt was to format the external drive again; this time with a 400GB Mac OS extended (journal) format; plus a 100GB ExFAT format partition. The new image was created after about 2.5hrs with a compressed size of 149GB. However, after running the "scan image for restore" facility I got the warning message "unable to scan filename " (internal error). The process was scanning the image file according to the progress bar - this took about hour - thus the warning is a puzzle.
If anyone can say more about this error I would really appreciate knowing tips for using disk utility. The screen grab is below.
"unable to scan filename " (internal error)
    thanks

Thanks for a quick reply <baltwo>. You’ve answered that it is not a fake message!
fyi: I thought that I would use my external Buffalo for two purposes; namely the smaller ExFAT partition for copying stuff to my win7 netbook. The larger partition was to be used as my imac image of SL. So this was my first attempt at using disk utility - the idea being to hold an image backup at another location. Plus I now have the Lion thumbdrive ready to upgrade from SL and so being cautious wanted to have a SL image backup
Anyway I followed the apple instructions using my mac 10.6.3 install DVD but it would appear from other discussions that <unable to scan (internal error)> is not unique to me.
I’ll get back to apple telephone support for further advice.
I would though be grateful for an “idiots’ guide to making an image backup of my internal HD that runs SL 10.6.8
eg should I have just one partition on the external USB drive? format it as Mac OS extended? create the image as compressed or read/write? Basically I’ll do whatever will work!!
    thanks again

  • Scan Image for Restore?

I created a disk image last night to prepare for my upgrade to Snow Leopard and then this morning moved to the final step of "Scan Image for Restore" and I was wondering if anyone had any insights into how long this would take. It's been running for about an hour now and the progress bar doesn't show any progress, just shows the fast moving blue hashes in the bar. Is this normal, or is it possibly hung up on something? Note, the light on my external drive continues to blink, which makes me think it is doing something, just not sure if it is progressing and this just takes several hours, or if something is wrong. Any help is appreciated.

It can take a very long time, depending on size of the Image, and even slower via USB.
I think a much faster, better, more useful method is to clone your drive, then you'll have a bootable version of exactly what you have now.

  • Resizing an image for a Wordpress Theme

I am creating a website/blog on Pro PhotoBlog and the Masthead of the theme I am using requires my image to be 990 pixels wide. I have entered the dimensions of what I wanted (990x600 pixels) on the Aperture export screen. When I import the image into Pro Photoblog, its saying its 826x600 which is an incorrect size! What's causing my export to change dimensions? The original size of my images are way big so resizing them down to 990x600 should not be an issue unless I am missing something.
The instructions Pro Photo gives is to use Photoshop to resize the images before uploading them but why do that when I can do it in Aperture.

Expanding a little on Munas' spot-on answers.  Note that the wording of the control in the Image Export Preset dialog is "Size to➞Fit within (pixels)".  This means that Aperture will not change the aspect ratio of your Image, it will shrink it so that it _fits within_ the dimensions you specify.  When you specify 990 x 600, you are telling Aperture to shrink the Image _proportionately_ (that is, with the same aspect ratio) until it fits within a rectangle that size.  Your Image is, apparently, not rectangular enough to _exactly_ be 990 x 600 when the width is 990 _or less_ AND the height is 600 _or less_.
As Munas says, you must _start with_ an Image that has an aspect ratio equal to 990/600 in order to end up with an Image that is 990 x 600 when it is resized to fit within 990 x 600.  To get an image that has that aspect ratio, you need to crop an area with that aspect ratio.  I suggest creating a new Version from an Image you want to use, and then cropping with the crop tool set to "Aspect Ratio➞Custom" and "Width➞990" and "Height➞600".

  • [REQ] resizing multiple images for same height or width

I often insert a lot of images in my indesign documents on a single page. I need to make them of the same height and then resize the image accordingly. I'm using cs6
For example to align all the images horizontally in a neat way, I change the height manually [for e.g. 60mm] in its dimensions box. Is there a way to do it quickly? Eg. I select all the images and put their height 60mm and their height becomes as specified and they get resized accordingly?
Same is the requirement of images for width.

  • Resizing an image for the web

Have been using an old version of Photoshop but am now using Photoshop Elements 8 and I need to 'resize' images so I can save them for website but can't seem to do so.   The old system was so easy - you just clicked 'resize image' and altered the pixel width or height and it just did it!   Can anyone help me please

It should work the same in photoshop elements 8.
Make sure in the image size dialog you have Resample Image checked along with Constrain Proportions.
Photoshop elements 8 also has a File>Save for Web option where you resize the image and see the estimated size at the same time.

  • 35mm scan images for Aperture

This is off topic but I know lots of Aperture users are also 35mm users.
I want to scan and import into my library, all my 35mm slide library.
Looking at the Nikon 5000 ED or the Powerslide 3650 to do batch images.
The Nikon scores well in research but with the cost of a batch feeder is very expensive.
Cant seem to get any feedback on the Powerslide scan results, but seems to have a good batch
feeder. Much more realistic price tho
Any users out there care to pass on any feedback? Is the Nikon streets ahead etc? ..or what

a little more info for you.
    1. if you're scanning negative film, you'll get better batch scanning success with the slide adapter. we tried the film roll adapter but the software was not able to accurately determine the edges of the frames. with the slide adapter (and mounting all of the negatives as if they were slides), that edge determination problem went away and we can now begin a scan of 50 frames with confidence.
    2. I use SilverFast. it's excellent software with options that will really help you to get the most out of your film. we typically scan using multi-scan 4x or better for greater dynamic range. SilverFast is also compatible with Leopard (although I haven't tested it fully yet), which brings me to the next point.
    3. Nikon is giving up on the Mac market as far as scanners go. Much of their software has not been and will not be updated for Leopard or Intel. scanning professionals are advising people to look at other alternatives. many of the bed scanners with transparency functionality are now very good, offering excellent focus and excellent dynamic range, and templates/software that allow you to scan multiple strips at the same time.
    4. SilverFast offers JPEG2000 compression, and Leopard/Aperture is now compatible with JPEG2000 which is an option if you want the best possible compression while retaining image quality.
I probably have a few more tips but they've escaped me for the moment ;–)
    cheers,
    Gregory

  • Scanning image for restore

How does one scan or imagescan a diskimage for Restore in Disk Utility?
    Hans

Thanks for your reply, Kappy. Unfortunately that didn't work. I'm trying to clone computers. Disk Utilities doesn't let me drag the mounted disk image to the source field.
The cloning, however, works great with Carbon Copy Cloner. I mount the disk image as you suggested, then select it as a source and the HD i want to clone as the target.
I'm doing all this with an external firewire drive. I boot from the external drive which has the disk image of the source computer on it. Then I tried to use Disk Utility as you suggested, but it didn't work. So I used CCC.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Resizing an image for smartphone

    Hi,
I am trying to resize a logo so that it looks crisp and sharp on Facebook and on mobile devices, but I'm having trouble. My file is a .png file and is 72 dpi (resized for web and devices in photoshop). It is 400x400 pixels.
Can you help? I use sproutsocial.com (similar to tweetdeck or hootsuite) to send posts to Facebook and Twitter. The image looks good on screen when I look at facebook, but not when you look at it on a mobile phone.

I found that sometimes for PNG when the display dimension is smaller than your image, the browser's auto-scale (e.g. if my original file is 1280px, but website display shows it at 500px) down makes the PNG seems a bit blurry (if others feel otherwise feel free to correct me).
Try saving your hires image (if you have any) or low res image to JPEG. I find that file format doesn't tend to blur when the auto-scale.
    Hope that would help!

  • Resize large images for web?

Man I feel so dumb having to post questions here, i really look to solve these myself and usually can in just about any software program i've used for 20 years, thats my only frustration with LR. The help system just hasn't been developed fully. Oh and thanks to all of you that help here and especially Ian Lyons for the Shortcuts pdf...what a life saver that is!
OKAY SO ON TO MY POST THIS WEEK> i was getting nice large size Web gallery images and now all of a sudden they are way too large for the client...where the heck do you adjust the size? "Image pages size" doesn't do it, seems like there should be something with "Large Images," but its only got quality, metadata and copyright.
Thanks in advance for whom ever lends a hand!

I'm pretty sure you had it right with the "Image pages" and the size slider. I am currently cranking out hundreds of images from a wedding shoot this weekend, and my "large" images are being produced at the 900 pixel max size I have in this dialog.
Set it to whatever you need, then click an image in your preview to see the size applied.
If all else fails - restart the app (but I'm sure you already tried that.)
    peace,
    Tormod
