Resizing tab and side bar

how do you resize the tab and side bar? Downloaded Maverick and can't find where to resize even after looking in the preference. It is small.....

Could be corrupt plist.  Try deleting both the com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist and relaunch Finder.
Finder>Go>Go to Folder> copy and paste:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
delete it.
Finder>Go>Go to Folder> copy and paste:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
delete it.
Now relaunch the Finder.  The Finder icon is in the very left of the Dock,  hold the control and option key click the icon>Relaunch

  • My tab and address bar fonts changed on their own.

I'm not really sure how this happened, but I opened Firefox and noticed that the font is different for the address bar, on all the tabs, and in any popup notifications. Is there any way I can fix this? I hate how this new font looks.

  • Autorotation w/ Tab and Nav Bars

I am having a problem with views not being properly resized after autorotation. My app has a tab bar where one of the tabs is nav controller. I have the autoresize masks to maintain edge distances and use flexible width/height.
Starting in portrait, if I switch to the tab with the nav controller and then rotate the device to landscape, the content view does not resize properly. Once the rotation animation stops, the top of the content view ends up obscured by the nav bar (it looks like the content view is being sized to fit between the top screen edge and the top of the tab bar rather than fitting between the bottom of the nav bar and top of the tab bar). The horizontal dimension updates as expected.
If I start in landscape and then switch over to the tab with the nav controller, the content view does correctly sit between the nav and tab bars.
I dumped the frame/bounds of the content to see if something jumped out at me and am only more confused. In both cases, the frame and bounds of the content view are origin at (0, 0), width 480, height 239? I was expecting to see the origin offset in the first case where things don't resize correctly.
Not sure what I am doing wrong...

    Hello,
The answer is in the code. Can you post a link?
As a guess, the fix might be in setting the cell the
    navigation is in to
    vertical-align: top;
In design view, click in the cell that contains the
    navigation.
Select the <td> tag in the tag bar at the bottom of the
    design window.
The entire column containing the navigation should highlight.
In the properties window, select "Top" from the "vert"
    dropdown choices.
In code view, find the cell containing the navigation.
    Change the opening <td> to:
    <td valign="top">
It really depends on how you built it. This could also be
    caused by merged
    table rows.
    Take care,
    Tim

  • Pages and icons (in the tabs and navigation bars) are too big due to 22 upgrade

Due to FF22 upgrade (from 21), all my icons (from webpages, addons and regular buttons) and tabs have got bigger and that's really ugly because of the low resolution of the images. Also considering I have a rather big number of tabs I can just see a smaller number of them and it's annoying.
The zoom of the page is now bigger (given that I has already zoom in in version 21, now the pages are too big and I have to zoom out a page that was correctly zoomed in 21)
Surprisingly the menu bar is intact !
Is that a new graphic convention ? Is there an update of something like GTK+ in this new version that could be responsible of this bug ? And mainly is there anyway to fix it ?
My screen resolution is 1920*1080. And for example with chromium or FF21 the menu have the perfect size.
PS: Sorry for my poor English.

All these confusing explanations on how to fix something that never should have been changed. It just pisses me off that I now have to get used to inferior graphics because someone thought it would be cool to screw with settings people have obviously been using for who knows how long. I have tried simply zooming down and that doesn't work. I am not going to enter a bunch of techie gobbledeegook and screw up my whole internet experience. I am just PISSED!!!!
How about another version to correct this? Hey, if someone wants to stay with this one, fine. At least give us people who aren't tech wizards an option to stick with what we have and what we have been happy with for years. Now, excuse me.. I need to get away from this.. I am so f***king pissed!!!
30 minutes later: Okay, I went to about:config and a window came up .. pretty much telling me my computer would blow sky high and take me with it. I'm just an old lady who WAS passing my time browsing and playing a few games. Oops, I'm getting mad again. PS I NEVER talk like this, but this has ruined my whole fricken day.
15 minutes later: I decided to give up. I went to play some monopoly at my favorite game site and the pop up window with the game board was unplayable. The board was way down the window and not complete. So, I went back and despite all the warnings went back to Version 21. I have used Firefox for years and have sworn by it and defended it and given it my best reviews. up until now. I absolutely don't want to quit FF, but I don't know all the tech stuff, I guess is required to change formats back to what you are used to. I still can't believe FF would make a drastic change across the board without warning or giving a choice. If I didn't know how to downgrade, I wouldn't be able to use my PC to help me get through each day. Why why why?

  • PDF viewer removes text from tabs and search bars

Often when I open documents in the built-in PDF viewer Firefox freezes for a few seconds and then when it returns to life all the text not associated with a particular webpage is gone. The tabs for the Firefox windows have no text. The search bar has no text. The address bar has no text. The bookmarks bar has no text. If I right click I get a menu with no text. If Firefox opens any windows (such as below when I click "Automatically add") those windows have no text. I have a screenshot of this phenomenon but don't see any way of attaching it. Restarting Firefox only occasionally resolves the issue.
This was happening while I filled out this form and collected the troubleshooting information below (by guessing which textless window buttons did what.)

    Here is a picture!

  • How do I get a larger font in the Tabs and Adress bar?

I have poor eyesight and when I open Firefox the Tabs Bar and the address bars is to small for me to read. I have to use a magnifying Glass to read them and than up close.

You can set font sizes (zoom) and text colors with the NoSquint extension.

  • Can I rearrange the order of Menu, Bookmark, Tab, and Title bars?

Having the Bookmark Bar between the Tab & Title Bars and the page itself seems out of place to me.
I would like the bars in the following order (top to bottom):
    Menu Bar,
    Bookmark Bar,
    Tab Bar,
    Title Bar
Is it possible to arrange them in this manner?

You can't move the position of the title bar, but you can move the Tab bar to a lower position just above the browsing area.
You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

  • How can I change the font size in the menu-, bookmark-, tabs and status-bar?

I want to change the text font size in the Firefox-window, other than the text in the Web-page.

You can increase the String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1.0 to 2.0 in 0.1 steps to see what works best.
In Firefox 3.6 and later this pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements more precisely.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Show toolbar and side bar by default...

Sometimes when I have windows open, the sidebar in the toolbar missing in the finder window. Is there a preference to turn them back on or is this just how things work now?
For example, in my image below, there used to be a button in the top right of the finder window that would let you see the toolbar. However, it seems to have been taken out and I was just wondering if there's a way to bring it back.

To set your default preferences, open a new Finder window, set it how you prefer (with or without the toolbar and sidebar), and close the window. Subsequent windows should "remember" this setting.
HOWEVER, the example you gave is a special case. Often, the Finder will override your preferences for certain disk images. The disk image has been customized by the developer to have a particular view, and that takes priority over your defaults.
    Hope that helps.

  • Side Bar with Tabs

I know there is a template for 1 level tabs with side bar. I need to add tabs withing the side bar. Is this possible?

    Let me clarify some.
I created 3 list items that will display as tabs:
    Admin
    Manager
    Marketing
Under each 1 these tabs (list items) I only want to display specific items.
For example, Item1 should be visible only when the 'Admin' tab is active.
I think seesion state will let me do this along with a display condition. Yes?
Also, I want to make the current list item (tab) bolded when they click on it. Now they all seem to display the same.
    Thanks!

  • How to make address and awesome bar not auto-expand?

I'm looking to customize firefox's appearance. I want two rows: one with the menu button, tabs, and awesome bar (in that order), and another with the forward/back buttons, address bar, home button, and bookmarks toolbar items (also in that order).
In both cases, the address bar and the awesome bar expand to fill all of the empty space (ei. my awesome bar starts spanning almost the entire row) and shrink as more items are added (ei. as I open more tabs). I would like to make it so they have a set size.

    That's exactly what I did.
    I created a chrome folder here: (home)/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/(....default)/chrome
Within which I created a userChrome.css file that reads:
    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
    #urlbar-container { max-width:400px!important; }
    #search-container { max-width:200px!important; }
    It hasn't worked.

  • This latest update of Firefox, 5.0.1, has a graphic in the toolbar space that looks like some kind of ad, had HP7 on it, Harry Potter ad maybe, and it obscures my tabs and toolbar and makes them very, very difficult to read, how do I remove it?

This latest update of Firefox suddenly had this ad (that's what it looks like), for what I am guessing is that it is an ad for a Harry Potter movie, as it says "HP7", (are there really seven of them now??? Wow, talk about overselling something....), but I need to remove it, can't see or read my tabs and tool bar headings, not good! My operating system is Windows XP, tablet PC edition, SP3.

Is it possible you accidentally installed a Persona? If it's a Persona or other kind of theme, you can revert to the default theme here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Add-ons > Appearance
Right-click default and choose it (your menu choice could say "wear it" or it might say something less strange)
    Any luck?

  • When using mail, my resize button and my down arrow on the side schroll bar appear in the same position making use of both impossible.

A line is missing at the bottom of the screen just above the dock window on my macintosh. Using Mac OS X, version 10.6.7

I indicated that I have this problem too, or at least a related one, but I wanted to add some details. In my case, using gmail, the resize button actually isn't even visible. But when I try to put the mouse on the line-scroll arrow at bottom right, the cursor changes to the resize cursor, and I can resize from there (with the mouse a good bit above where the resize button should be). So I think it's the same problem reported by this user. As indicated, it's impossible to use the line-scroll button in this mode. I don't seem to have the problem on other web pages, or at least not that I've noticed. I just obtained Firefox 4, so I think I've got an up-to-date copy, and I'm running on Windows XP, SP2. And other than this, I *really* like FF4--that tab organization feature is absolutely stunning in its usefulness. Oh, and, in case it matters, I'm also running the gmail under the "pinned tab" option.
