Resizing Videos

Ok, I didn't know where to post this...so if I'm posting this in the wrong spot, please, sombody point me in the right direction. Ok, well I'm trying to resize my videos that are in iPhoto. I want to make them (I know it's a funny sizing, but trust me) 128 x 128 pixels. I don't have Quick Time Pro and don't want to buy it. So...how do I resize my videos?
Thanks!

OK.
Sounds like fun and I'm game for some hacking.
So. Sims 2 allows you to use up to 128X128 file size. Do they say that "video" is allowed? Maybe something that fits on a Sims TV set?
If only image formats are used there are a few QT tricks I can pass on.
Open the "video" and position the playhead to the frame you wish to "capture".
Open the Movie Info window and note the dimensions.
Hold down the Shift and Control keys as you drag the "grow window" (lower right corner of the Player window) toward the center of the image. You'll see that you can make a rectangle into a square!
Once sized to 128X128 you can now "Copy" (even the free player) the newly sized image to the Mac "Clipboard".
Open any image editing app (I use GraphicConverter), make a new "blank" canvas size at 128X128 and "paste". Save in a format that the Sims software requires.
If you own QT Pro you could also use "Save As" on this newly resized video, name this new file and import or convert it to a format accepted by the Sims software.
You could also use third party software to actually "crop" the video to the needed dimensions. MPEG Streamclip (free) is my tool of choice.
Hope any of this helps. Post a screen shot if it actually works.

  • Easy Question about resizing video

I searched 'Resizing Video' and there was too many unrelated results to a really simple question.
In my old program "Premiere', to resize and move a video around was very easy. You could adjust the scale and X-Y values numerically, or you could use a Free Transform like in Photoshop. Simply dragging bounding boxes for size and aspect and also dragging the clip to decide it's location.
The only way I know how to do this in FCP is I double click a clip in the sequence, it loads into the viewer, I go to the Motion Tab and then I can adjust the Scale, which is cool. But then I'm left with the Distort section to adjust position (and aspect if need be). In the Distort section there are 8 numeric fields of info to figure out and fill out just to get one clip in a different position correctly.
I'm thinking there must be another way to adjust the location (or aspect) of a video clip without spending a bit of time on exact coordinates, I want to eye-ball where I want the clip to go and simply move it there. Is the Distort feature the only way to do this? If not, which is the fastest way to move and change the dimension of a clip.
Thanks for reading, I hope there is another way, I'm not use to these calculations and they're slowing me down.

That's because it's not a simple question at all and yet every one of those threads was related to the OP's question. As you discovered, there are lots of ways to interpret "resize," during capture, editing, effects, output, viewing, encoding, printing. But the solution was even simpler than you thought. All you had to do was open the manual or the online help system. Start taking the manuals to the gym with you. FCP is not Premiere. You're going to hate FCP, you're going to love FCP but it will never behave like Premiere beyond the elements of the functional paradigm. Forget Premiere.

  • Can't keep the original size of the video (Resize Video option is stuck on 640 x 480h)

I am importing .mp4 files set at 874 x 480h. Somehow AME makes the output size 640 x 480h, which significantly vertically compresses the video.
I tried so many different ways of uncheking the Rewsize Video box, checking it again and specifiying 874 x 480h. Best I got is 874 x 480h with black borders left and right and the actual video to be rendered in output tab is still at 640 x 480h.
It seems that Resize Video option is stuck on 640 x 480h and can not be changed.
Is there some bug in AME I have to work around? Or is it a problem with the original video? If the problem with an original video what exactly do I ask my client to rerender it like if I already receive it in 874 x 480h, can view/play it in this size, AME recognizes the original video to its true size, shows it to its true size if 1x1 pixel preview is selected. However will show a distorted 640 x 480h version if Aspect Ratio Corrected Preview is selected (even with the Resize Video box unchecked)?

    Hi Marion,
Thanks very much for your message. I have downloaded that program and it's definitely handy for examining the details of the original file. You mentioned in your message about not having to recode the file - The file I'm editing is originally from a Q3 Zoom video recorder and I can use their in-built software (handyware) to trim the file - this doesn't recode the file and so the file size just reduces by the required amount. Unfortunately there is no facility to crop the file with this software - I've looked for other software that would allow cropping without having to recode the file but I haven't found anything suitable for a simple procudure like this - do you know of any software that allows you to crop a file without recoding? Thanks.

  • S60 v5 (e.g 5800/5530) Resize Video on phone to se...

May be a silly question - but I can't seem to find an option that will allow me to resize a video, taken on the phone, so that it's small enough to send via MMS
I usually keep the Video Camera set to 'TV High Quality' so that when I get home I can transfer it over to PC to edit before uploading it to youtube (or whatever) etc, but occasionally once I've taken a video I'd like to send it straight away to someone via MMS (while keeping the original to edit when I get home) - but I get a message stating that the file size is too large
I don't want to keep changing the video quality settings each time - because by the time I've changed it, what I wanted to record has passed by
The 5800 doesn't seem to offer an option to 'resize video to send via MMS' & was wondering if there IS such an option hidden away somewhere, & if not - is there a 3rd part App that can be installed (preferably free) that will do the job
    Thanks in advance

DayHand is a replacement keyboard for the s60v5 phones. It does not have autocorrect, but it does have predictive text via T9 dictionary in qwerty mode. The app is unsigned by the way, so you would need to sign it with your own certificate.

  • Resize video window hangs

I'm running iTunes 7.6 (29) on Mac OS 10.5.1. When I resize video windows while playing in iTunes I get hangs that require me to hard power down my MacBook Pro (2.6GHz, 4GB RAM). Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a fix, or is this related to the general unstableness of OS 10.5? I also have the syslogd and mdworker (do a Google search for each) problems that Apple refuses to acknowledge or fix.

No, rolling back to QuickTime 7.3.1 didn't fix the problem. I suspect it was the graphics drivers.
I installed 10.5.2 and the Leopard graphics driver update tonight. One of them seems to have fixed the iTunes window resize problem (although I just played around for a while to try it). I didn't try to recreate the problem between upgrades so I can't say which update might have fixed it. If the problem returns I'll post back here.
I still have trouble with runaway syslogd processes... but that wasn't the topic of this thread. I've had one of those since I installed the upgrades, but I'm getting good at going into Terminal to kill and fix the process. After all, isn't using the command line interface of Terminal oh so Mac like?

  • Can't resize video in Sequence monitor window anymore ???

OK Help... I have been working on a project in CS4 and the project settings are HD 1080. I have been able to bring in other SD clips and simply "click" on the video in the monitor window and a box comes up around the video and I can resize it and then render and it looks acceptable. This works if I want to shrink it and have a black border also. Now the ability to do this is GONE ! Same computer - same everything. I click and there is no box or ability to re-size. Only thing I ever did was load up another project at one time in standard DV - NTSC and encoded with Encore.  Whats Wrong

Glad that you found it. You can also do the same thing with the Bounding Box, if you open the Effects Control Panel, and then click on the name Motion in the Effects list there, and you'll get a Bounding Box in the Program Panel. Personally, I like the numerical method, but some like the Bounding Box.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Resizing video in muse lightbox

    Hey,
I've been working on a video site and I'm using lightbox.
    Two things
1- every time I try to resize the video to fit it doesn't do it.  In fact it brings in the video smaller.
Any thoughts on how to get this widget to behave.
2- I'd like to just have a wall of thumnails and a video on top... rather than the lightbox.  Which widget is great for video?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,!!!
    Steve

    Hi, versuch das mal:
    - Das Video unter "Datei->Dateien für Upload hinzufügen" hinzufügen
    - Dann unter "Objekt -> HTML einfügen" den folgenden Code einsetzen
    <video width="920" height="520" controls="" autoplay>
    <source type="video/mp4" src="assets/xx.mp4"></source>
    <source type="video/ogv" src="assets/xx.ogv"></source>
    </video>

  • How to resize video to fit in safe area in Adobe Encore

    Hi guys,
Is there any way that my 1024x768 quicktime video be resized to fit the safe area (without using premiere to re-render) using Adobe encore? I've been looking for a solution as to how I can resize my video because when I play it on a dvd player some areas get cropped out and they actually do have inline text. Thing is, I can't edit the video anymore so the only file I have is the 1024x768 one and re-rendering it again via premiere will really take a long time since it's a 30 minute video. Thanks heaps

Exporting to AVI will lead to one generation loss for all the parts that need rendering. The advantage of doing it this way is you can let Encore decide on the best encoding settings. The drawbacks are the generation loss (which is nearly unnoticeable) and the fact that you only have 2.0 sound. If you have the Surcode plug-in and export from PP you avoid the generation loss and can export 5.1 sound. Both advantages, but it requires some careful planning and the use of a bitrate calculator to get the best settings for your movie. However if your movie is less than one hour just encoding at 8 Mbps CBR negates that. The calculator is only necessary for movies longer than one hour.
Another disadvantage of exporting to AVI is the added storage requirement and the extra time to create it.

  • Resizing Video and Audio At Once

I need to resize both the Video and Audio concurrently. However, following these directions as provided for in the Manual is not working; only one or the other will resize. What am I doing wrong? - Thanks, Lyman
"To resize both video and audio tracks at once:
Hold down the Shift key, then drag any track boundary to resize it. All tracks in the Timeline are resized by the same amount."

Naw, not that...seriously, this is not working pursuant to the Manual which leads me to believe if perhaps some errata is present in the manual? This is one time where the problem does not lay between the chair and monitor!
    Thanks,
    Lyman

  • How to resize videos?

    Hi,
I've made a couple of videos using imovie. Format is 4:3.
They play well in imovie (or VLC) but when I've burned a dvd using iDVD - using 4:3 format again - a big portion of the video has gone outside the visible area.
    How can i address this?
    thanks,
    Patrick

When you say "resize" do you really mean selecting the proper aspect ratio?
I'm assuming you already tried this:
Switching between standard and widescreen formats
You can change the format of your project from standard video format (4:3) to widescreen (16:9), or from widescreen to standard.
Here are ways to change the project format:
Choose Project > Project Info, and then select Standard (4:3) or Widescreen (16:9) from the Aspect Ratio pop-up menu.
Choose Project > “Switch to Standard (4:3)” or “Switch to Widescreen (16:9).”
if that fails then you can try adding your movie/s to the slideshowshow editor and make sure TV Safe is selected or checked w/in iDvd's preferences.
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • Resizing video in menu?

I am new to Encore.   I have a project that was shot on 16:9   and exported that way.    I connected the video and audio to the motion section of the menu building feature in Encore.    Well, my problem is that the video shows up way to small.  Is there anyway to resize the video so it takes up the entire screen?   I have the dvd menu set as 16:9 .   The assets that are 16:9 play as such.  for some reason the video on the menu is tiny.   Any suggestions?

I made it my menus background.
After playing around I discovered that I could choose send to encore from premire.
That really helped.  Everything fit and it was wide screen.  I still have an issue with sending an asset over from premire it will launch a new project in encore... should i just export assets?

  • Urgent question about resizing videos in Adobe Premiere

Hello, forgive me for asking such a noob question but i have a presentation due in about 10 hrs and Adobe Premiere is giving me some headaches with the video i'm trying to make!
I am trying to alter the dimensions of a movie in the 'monitor' window (the objective being to put 2 different movies side by side in the same timeline, but that's irrelevent). Screenshot is below
    http://s5.largeimagehost.com/display...sXUF&skey=nv28
I've seen it being done before - their should be a border around the frame in the 'Sequence 01' tab that lets you resize it with your mouse. But It's not appearing for me... . is their some hot key or something..? It's probably something really obvious but i can't find it...

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the
Premiere Pro Wiki that will quickly
show you how things are done in PPro, including picture-in-picture effects.

  • WHICH PROGRAM(S) IS GOOD FOR RESIZING VIDEOS?

I need a free, good quality, full version (no demo's please) program that can resize any video to 320x270 (or whatever it is) so it can be played on iPod.

Don't worry, figured it out, just use any-video-converter for ipod to convert movies onto the correct size and format to play well on a 5Gen. iPod video!

  • Resize Video, both the file size and actual size

    Hi All,
I am very new to Adobe Premiere (CS3). I have had it for a while but not needed to use until now. A client of mine has sent me a video that he wants on his website. But it’s 150M and 1280 * 720. Can anyone help me out with how I can resize both the file size and actual size to say 800 * 450 so it can stream it via the net?
Like I said very new to this,
    Cheers,
    Mike.

The first thing you need to do is determine just what KIND of file you were sent, so you may start a project that matches the file
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
    What is a CODEC... a Primer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/546811?tstart=0
What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
I don't do streaming video, so you should search the help file... I **think** what you want out is a Flash file, but that is only after you know what you are going to load into the CS3 timeline

  • Do resized videos (from iTunes) save battery life?

I have downloaded two videos from itunes. What size/resolution are they? If I resize them to fit the iPod touchs screen resolution will I save battery life?

If I resize them to fit the iPod touchs screen resolution will I save battery life?
That's a good question that I've wondered about. The touch screen native resolution is 480-by-320-pixels. When I export from my eyeTV software, it's at 480x360. PERHAPS, using larger image sizes causes the CPU to work harder in resizing the content. This COULD lead to shorter battery life.
