Resmgr: waiting in end wait average count

This morning our users experienced a severe slowdown when attempting to perform any function involving our 9.2.0.5 production database. Even the ability to login was subject to extraordinary waits. Examination of Instance Wait Events Analysis, recorded by the Enterprise Manager Capacity Planner, showed an extraordinary spike in the entry "resmgr: waiting in end wait average count." The count recorded was more than 400% greater than the count we typically see. This abberation also corresponds timewise to the slowdown we experienced. After about 25 minutes, the problem disappeared as suddenly as it happened, and the count returned to normal.
What is this "resmgr: waiting in end wait average count?" What should I be looking at to determine the cause of the sudden increase in the count from a typical peak count of 4000 - 5000 to over 18,000? Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards. . .

Check your resource plan. The ACTIVE_SESS_POOL_P1 is probably set to a value that is too low. If you run over the amount of sessions allowed, new sessions have to wait. If you are using connection pooling, it can snowball pretty fast.

  • Wait for end mp4 DIr 11.5

    Does anybody know how to make Director 11.5  wait for end of a mp4 (h264) video ?
    I made the upgrade to version 11.5 just for being able to import and control the MP4 as read I have read in the
    "Top features: Support for MP4, H.264, FLV, and F4V video formats and video streaming"

    It work perfectly, thanks Dean, and make me know in the next survey;
    I usually get it late.....
    I work with director since version 7, it's still a nice program for very professionals presentations.
    More versatile and productive than flash for our point of view.
    Fortunately I need poor programming knowledge but most graphic or communication skills.
    With mp4 I can introduce video as a graphic component so After Effect (as before Photoshop)
    became a contribution program.
    But.
    Flv doesn't work, is practically impossible to import the file into the timeline without having an error message.
    Mp4 sometimes is not visible, if I go to play in editing mode.
    Some suggestions?

  • Never Ending "Waiting" Export Stills FCPX

    I use Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.2 and when I try to export a still frame(jpeg or any format) I get a never ending waiting in the share window. This used to happen with about every 5-10 images and then would restart FCPX and it would be back to normal. Now it does it from the start and cannot export a single still for my work projects.
    I have tried trashing Preferences, restarting computer, shut down computer, and resetting queue in Compressor settings even though I don't use compressor app for this process.
    Any help or ideas on how to get back to processing stills is greatly appreciated! Thank you

    After a bit more research I have actually found a solution!! Not sure what app nap is but I went and checked the "prevent app nap" box when I clicked "get info" on fcpx application.
    I am now exporting images without any problems! Wooooot =D

  • Re : Get Average count of previous 3 Years

    Hello All,
    Hope all is well. I have this query , where I am counting the numbers of items sold based on 4 dimensions and then in the next column now client wants the average count of previous 3 years items sold.
    The query results look like this ,
    Year Office item_type count_items_Curr_Year count_items_pre_3yrs
    My current simple SQL looks like ,
    select Year, Office, item_type,count(item_id)
    from Years,
    Offices,
    Item_types
    group by Year, Office, item_type
    Could someone help me create query for to calculate the average count of previous 3 years items sold.
    For example,
    Year-----Office-----item_type-----count_items_Curr_Year-----count_items_pre_3yrs
    2000-----ABC------Jewellery-------100------------------------------------95(Avg. count of 1999,1998,1997)
    2001-----ABC------Sports-------250------------------------------------260(Avg. count of 2000,1999,1998)
    2002-----XYZ------Sports-------350------------------------------------288(Avg. count of 2001,2000,1999)
    2003-----FCD------Auto-------500------------------------------------387(Avg. count of 2002,2001,2000)
    and so on......
    I hope I am clear on this . Please let me know if I have missed on something.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

    You could do this using analytic functions, something like -
    (untested) -
    select year, office, item_type, cnt, avg(cnt) over (order by justyear desc range 3 preceding)
    from
    select to_char(year,'YYYY') justyear, Year, Office, item_type,count(item_id) cnt
    from Years,
    Offices,
    Item_types
    group by Year, Office, item_type, to_char(year,'YYYY')
    left justyear out of the group by

  • StillColor Averaging Count inconsistent on PCI1408

    I am not convinced that the image sequences seen in either labview low level snap or in MAX 'grab' are consistently accepting configuration of the stillcolor averaging count parameter. When it works properly (which is rarely), I can manually change the focus on my camera during the acquisition, and watch for the delayed response as the averaged image slowly catches up to my changes. But most of the time it does not. If I change the parameter value, and try the experiment again, I often see no averaging at all, and the apparent acquisition rate (measured by snap-to-snap time difference) does not change with my change in parameter value.
    If anyone has some experience with this situation, I would appreciate if you could o
    ffer a clue as how to (1) verify the actual averaging count during acquisition, or (2) ensure a camera interface is reset to the new value.
    (using latest driver, as of today, and LV6.1)

    Hi. I've used StillColor a few times, but I've never seen the behavior you're describing here. As an acquisition algorithm, StillColor drifted to the background as soon as the 1411 (the analog color frame grabber) was released. In fact, I don't think it's even been mentioned in the NI catalog for the last few years.
    With that said, if anyone on this forum is experience with StillColor, please chime in.

  • TOP WAITS BY TIME WAITED - VERY URGENT

    Hi All,
    I have some performance with our database and when i see the DATABASE HEALTH OVERVIEW it is showing me TOP WAITS BY TIME WAITED (queue messages).
    Any advices on this.
    Regards,

    The best approach for some one who is new to database administration / tuning is to setup statspack and learn to understand statspack.
    Oraperf.com has some good tools in analyzing a stats pack report to break it down into readable sections. You should try that first and then try to analyze each of the individual events.

  • Dynamic start of subvi without waiting for end of subvi

    How can I load and run a SubVI without waiting in the MainVI for the end of execution of the SubVI.
    Im running LabVIEW Prof. Dev. System 6.1 on WindowsNT4.0

    Use the Open VI Reference to specify the VI and then an invoke node. The method you want is Run VI and you can optionally Wait Until Done.

  • IPCC Express-record call after waiting timeout end e-mail

    I have IPCC Express 3.5.2. I have successfully created a script that enables recording a message when either a wait timeout occurs and then the user selects to leave a message. There is a maximum time limit on the recording. As long as the user stays online long enough during the recording fort he max timer to expire I can save the file and send out an e-,mail with this attached.
    My question is how do detect hang-up then save the file and send the e-mail when a caller hangs up before the max time out has expired?

    You need to use the On Exception GoTo and Clear Exception steps.
    An Example:
    Start
    ...logic...
    On Exception (contactInactiveException) GoTo RecordingException
    Recording
    --Successful
    ----Label: Recording Exception
    ----Clear Exception: RecordingException
    ----....email/otherlogic...
    End
    The On Exception Goto watches for the caller hanging up. If they do, it moves the script to the label instead of going to the end. You must have the Clear Exception step to then clear the exception and move on.

  • Why does File Explorer Seem to Wait for End-to-End Confirmation?

    For quite a few versions now, when copying large blocks of files from place to place it seems like Explorer adds an arbitrary delay or maybe waits for confirmation internally that every file has been actually written to the disk before continuing.
    On a modern computer with plenty of RAM for cache and a massively powerful SSD-based I/O system (capable of sustaining gigabytes per second of throughput),
    why should we ever wait for a copy of a few hundred megabytes of files?  Theoretically it should complete in a second or two.
    In fact, back on XP one could observe exactly the behavior I'm describing - file transfers - especially on hard disk but even over the network - would proceed at a very breakneck pace.
    Yet it's not uncommon to see miniscule transfer speeds while copying groups of files that even the oldest, cheapest hard drive could sustain...
    What's the setting to have Explorer stop waiting and just get on with the copy, filling the cache with the data to be written later?  Some of us don't want to wait that extra minute to get the job done.  I know whomever programmed the cutesy
    little graph wants to make sure we all see it, but...

  • Wait for end of DVD chapter

    Hi,
    How can I play a DVD chapter but only until it ends and then
    jump back
    to a frame in my Director movie?
    I know that I can use:
    member("DVD").play([#title:1, #chapter:1])
    Will that pause at the end of chapter 1?
    Does anything special have to be encoded into the DVD chapter
    at the
    end?
    How can I tell if chapter 1 is done?
    At the moment I have a DVD that at the end of a chapter that
    i want to
    play, it jumps to a menu in the DVD. I want it to jump to my
    Director
    menu page. Can I do this without changing anything on the
    DVD.
    Thanks in advance
    John

    Encore doesn't offer a feature that would pause at the end of a chapter.
    It could be done with a workaround, but instead of pressing the Play button, the user would have to press the Next button if a timeline or chapter playlist is used, or the Enter button if a menu is used.

  • How to get siri to wait before ending dictation.

    I will create a note or imessage and can only have it take one line. If I say two sentences fast with a period in the middle it will take that but then will send the second sentence often before I finish it.
    Why is Siri not taking multiple sentences? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?
    Other posts say to press the mic on the keyboard that pops up. No keyboard pops up when you press and hold for sire and say create imessage or note, etc.

    One thing I have found on youtube is if you put the phone up to your face like your making a call, it takes multiple sentences fairly easily. When I do the same exact thing with it standing up on the desk it refuses to take more than one sentence. Is there any way to fix this where I can have it rest on the desk for the dictation?

  • Never-Ending "Waiting" Bar?

    I'll try to clarify the problem as best as I can:
    I currently have iTunes v7.5, and it was working perfectly fine until about 30 minutes ago....
    I was in the iTunes store and I clicked on the link to go to the homepage (it is shaped like a house), and it never did anything. I signed out, thinking that that would solve the problem, but it just complicated matters. Near the top of the screen, it says "Accessing iTunes Store," and there is a little bar-- it has dark and light slanted lines traveling horizontally inside the bar, and that is all it is doing when I am in the "iTunes Store" link.
    Does anyone know what the problem is? It won't leave the page where is just says "iTunes Store"..... Ah!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

    After a bit more research I have actually found a solution!! Not sure what app nap is but I went and checked the "prevent app nap" box when I clicked "get info" on fcpx application.
    I am now exporting images without any problems! Wooooot =D

  • Log writer wait & buffer busy waits

    Hi
    Version 10.2.0.3
    I have a problem with a database of high buffer waits and log file sync waits in top 5 events of awr report. I noticed that the redo logs are stored in an san partition. Not sure why they have done that. Is that advisable to store the online redo logs in san partition? Please advice.
    Thanks

    There's no such thing as "buffer waits", and "high" is purely subjective.
    Why not post the "Top 5" section of the report, and give us some idea of the size of the machine (possibly even post a little more of the report, say from the top to the section on Time Model statistics). Generate the text version, and post it using the "code" tags - see footnote- so that we can read it.

  • Best way for a thread to wait without busy-waiting

    Hi!
    I have a thread that has nothing to do but to monitor the status of a variable
    public static boolean askToClose. This variable is set by other
    threads to indicate that this thread should stop now. But I don't want the thread
    to busy-wait like in this piece of code :
    public void run() {
         while (!askToClose) {
              Thread.sleep(1000);
         cleanAndStop();
    }I'm new to Thread programming in Java so I'm not sure what's the best way to wait
    for an event without busy-waiting. I've tried using interruption instead of
    monitoring for the boolean variable :
    public void run() {
         try {
              synchronized (this) {
                   System.out.println("WAITING");
                   wait(0);
         catch (InterruptedException e) {
              System.out.println("INTERRUPTED !");
         cleanAndStop();
    }and the other threads would simply call myThread.interrupt() instead of setting
    askToClose = true;And I've also used a LinkedBlockingQueue :
    public static LinkedBlockingQueue q = new LinkedBlockingQueue();
    public void run() {
         try {
              q.take();//Waiting
         catch (InterruptedException e) {}
         cleanAndStop();
    }and on the other threads :
    MyThread.q.add(new Object());Which one is the best solution ? Do I really avoid busy waiting with this code? Is
    there a better way of doing this?
    Thx for your help !

    Your wait() based solution is OK, except that the other thread should
    use
    synchronized()
      notify();
    }
