Resolution can't go higher than 1280x1024 - native is 1920x1080

This seems to only be a problem in Snow Leopard, as it works fine as a display for a Windows PC. I try to attach my Samsung SyncMaster to my mac and the maximum resolution it says it accepts is 1280x1024@60 or 70Hz. Its native resolution is 1920x1080@60HZ. I've tried SwitchResX, and when I try to install this resolution it comes back with "Not activated - Invalid?"
Is there a way by editing a file I can change or force the resolution in terminal or a file to edit the external display's resolution (iMac 2009 Snow Leopard) I've got 10.6.2 ... any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advanced!
This is only the mini displayport to dvi adapter

This is what the file says:
What should I do with it? Edit what and save it where to take effect?

  • P45 Platinum Owers. Can you go higher than 450MHz FSB with v1.5 or v1.6 BIOS?

I like to know who can overclock FSB to higher than 450MHz if you are with v1.5 or v1.6 BIOS.
I could do over 500MHz FSB with v1.4. Unfortunaetly, it has vCore bug, so I couldn't adjust core voltage.
according to my personal experience, there was overclocking wall around 425MHz with v1.5 and v1.6.
I, actually, was expecting v1.6. But that problem was still there.
I guess MSI blocked overclocking feature on purpose due to reduce damage of there board.
That's why they have perfomance BIOS on there beta BIOS site.
I like to know anyone have same problem as me or all this thing happened to me only.

Well I have this Problem too, I can't get the System Stable above FSB400 with the Q9550 on Bios 1.5 or 1.6.
With the E8400 it was possible to get the FSB to 450 by Jumper OC but this doesn't help with the Q9550.
    Code: [Select]
MSI has a solution about the problem, will post here once i have it too.
Do they have a new Beta Bios to get higher FSB ?
In fact some people on the German MSI Forum asked MSI for help but didn't get an heplfull answer.

    Yes, can reach 500FSB {maybe more}
Will have it tomorrow probably and will upload it.

  • U2913WM screen resolution issue cant set higher than 1920x1080

I have two Dell U2913WM monitors set up on my Alienware 17 laptop. The video card is a Geforce 880M. the highest resolution I that I can set my monitors is 1920x1080. is there a way to set the screen size larger to support the wide screen? I'm running windows 8.1.
    Thanks,

I actually figured out how to setup dual U2913WM monitors on my Alienware 17. Took about 3-4 hours of troubleshooting and some lucky Google searches.
First of all for those out there trying to use a widescreen monitor with a laptop. Do not run your monitors through a docking bay. They simply do not support the higher resolutions. At best you will get only 1920 x 1080.
If you want to run at native resolution of  2560 x 1080 then you will need to connect the monitor to your mini DisplayPort. You will also need to set up the monitor in the nVida control panel.
If you want to run dual U2913WM monitors you will need to slave the 2nd monitor to the first. Using the DVI to mini display port. see the following links:
    thinklightly.com/.../dell-u2913wm-setup-1
    and
    thinklightly.com/.../dell-u2913wm-setup-2
Again you will have to set up the monitors in the nVida control panel for them to work properly. Also dont forget to set up the input sources using the monitor config, as shown in the set up 2 link above to get the 2nd monitor to work.
You will have to also configure your sound output because for some reason it will default to the monitors and you wont get any audio output till you do.
Lastly Dell.... if you are reading this. It's a heck of a product and I love the monitors. But please this is something that should be made clear to customers on what they need to do to run these monitors in native resolutions. it's pretty ridiculous the setup I had to go through with zero documentation. It's pretty common to run multiple monitors and to try and run them through a docking station.
    Plus side:
Also an added benefit to going through this is that my frame rate has increased when now using the mini DisplayPort rather than the Docking Station for running my monitors.
    Minus side:
I have black bars along the sides and top of both  U2913WM monitors, it wont go full screen. Apparently it's an issue when running your monitors through the displayport. I tried overriding this in the nVida control panel but nothing works and the Auto adjust on the monitor is not configurable when using in this mode.
If anyone has any solution for scaling the screen to use the full monitors in native resolution while connected through the mini displayport I love to hear it.

    Yep. Thanks BK.
Seem to be getting good results so far. I dropped the cpu multi to see how high the htt would go and was able to pass 300 htt quite easily, whether or not this makes things run faster I don't know. HT is at 3x, ram running 7% over spec.

  • Can I show a higher resolution on my laptop screen than on a connected (VGA) projector?

Can I show a higher resolution on my laptop screen than on a connected (VGA) projector?
The projector is only 800 by 600 which screws up my desktop each time I project.
Additionally - if I use a remote desktop client for windows, the change in resolution makes the projection in windows unreadble.
    Anything I can do?
    Many thanks - Mike

Will not  work, most likely for BootCamp.  Windows drivers for hunderbolt will only create digital (DVI), not analog (VGA).
Run Windows in Parallels/other-VM-software where OSX runs the Thunderbolt port, or by a USB-VGA adapter.

  • Radeon Mobility HD 3650 won't go higher than 1440x900; Ext monitor native resolution 1920x1080

I've got a Viewsonic VG2436wm with a native resolution of 1920x1080 hooked up via a KVM switch to the VGA port on my T500.
The ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3650 in my Lenovo T500 will not give me any resolution higher than 1440x900.
I've updated Catalyst to the newest version available from AMD. The Catalyst software recognizes the monitor's highest resolution and refresh rate but lists them as "not supported."  It won't let me switch the graphics mode to energy saver; it keeps telling me that I have to turn off 3D rendering and close all programs...except nothing's open.
All Windows 7 updates are installed.  And yes, this exact same setup works with the Thinkpad Edge 420 my office issued me.
I'm ready to pull my hair out.  Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciate.

  • Having a bigger resolution than the native one?

    Hi,
I own a Samsung NC10 netbook and on a conference a met a guy who own this, too . This poor guy uses Windows on his machine, but I have to admit that he used a feature that I find quite useful: When he connected his netbook to a projector and cloned the output, the resolution of the projector (1024*786 i guess) was higher than the one of the netbook (1024*600). What happened on his windows machine was that he could scroll to the bottom of the screen to see the missing 186 pixels that where shown in the silver screen but cut off on his LVCD.
When I (with Arch) use the NC10 on a projector I can only see the additional 186 pixels on the silver screen and I have no access to the bottom of the LVCD (what can be difficult when the silver screen is behind you ).
So, is it possible, to have this feature in Linux/Arch, too? To use a bigger resolution on the LVCD and "scroll" to the missing parts by moving the mouse to the edges of the screen?
I hope I explained this clearly - otherwise ask for more/other informations
    Thanks!
    barghest

    Yes ,if you run
    xrandr --fb 1024x768 --output LVDS1 --panning 1024x768 --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768 --pos 0x0
(LVDS1=the notebook's screen, VGA1=the beamer) you can scroll the internal panel up and down by moving the cursor to either edge while both outputs use 1024x768 and show the same thing. But this isn't really usable for presentations.
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --scale 1x1.28 --output VGA1 --pos 0x0 --mode 1024x768
would stretch LVDS1 vertically to match the beamers resolution. But if you use KMS, --scale is currently broken, it just scales the background, nothing else. Example: Fedora Bug Report, the Arch version has the same problem.
    Now, the modeline thingie:
    You can calculate one using gtf x y R (x=horizontal width, y=vertical width, R=refresh rate). Running gtf 1024 600 60
    results in
    # 1024x600 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 37.32 kHz; pclk: 48.96 MHz
    Modeline "1024x600_60.00" 48.96 1024 1064 1168 1312 600 601 604 622 -HSync +Vsync
The quoted part is just the name to use in xrandr's --mode command, so i removed the _60.00 and included it in the monitor section of my xorg.conf among others (i.e. 640x480 is there so I can run Starcraft in fullscreen ):
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "LVDS1"
    VendorName "ASUS"
    ModelName "EeePC 1000H"
    Modeline "1024x600" 48.96 1024 1064 1168 1312 600 601 604 622 -HSync +Vsync
    Modeline "800x600" 38.22 800 832 912 1024 600 601 604 622 -HSync +Vsync
    Modeline "640x480" 23.86 640 656 720 800 480 481 484 497 -HSync +Vsync
    EndSection
The X server adheres to these settings even if you're using KMS but I don't know if it does if you're using hotplugging because in this case these settings are intended to be generated automatically. I just use them because I don't want to use HAL. But trying to force a resolution bigger than the native one this way doesn't work for me.

  • Why can't I get an update higher than OS X 10.6.8?

I am new to this whole thing but... Why won't my computer update past/higher than 10.6.8 (I ran the software update and it said I'm up to date)? I need at least 10.7 for an application I'd like to download...

Which model MacBook Pro do you have? 10.6.8 is the last version of Snow Leopard - you would have to purchase Lion or Mountain Lion but, if your machine will support Mavericks (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842), you can update to that free.
Purchasing Lion or Mountain Lion requires a call to Apple - you can't buy it directly from the Mac App Store.

  • Scxi 1112 can not acquire correct data at high temperature(higher than 700C)

A scxi-1112 module in scxi-1001 chassis is used to acquire oven Temperature. Software is LabView 8.5. when oven is ramping higher than 700C, the module gets wrong data, the data acquisition VI shows random values around 700C.It seems the scxi-1112 module "reaches" its maximum setting, which actually is 1000C. Can Anybody explain what's happening to me? Thanks.

    Hi gq,
Could you please provide a screenshot of the
way you are configuring the task, as well as what the data looks like
that you are seeing when it behaves incorrectly? If you just perform a
voltage reading (instead of a temperature task), what values are
returned, and does it show the same behavior of reaching a certain
voltage and not ramping any higher? Also, how do you have your
thermocouple attached to your oven; is there any possibility that the
connection is conducting at that temperature? Also, regarding the use of different measurements in the task, are you using different modules in your system or are the measurements being done on the same 1112 module? Additionally, have you tried other channels and received the same problem? I look forward to reading your response.
