Resolution for scaled up apps in ios 8

I just received my iphone 6 this morning :-)
As I got everything setup I am noticing that the 3rd party apps that are getting scaled up due to the bigger screen size look really bad and feel low resolution due to this
I recall during the setup there was a question if I wanted to enable a zoom mode and not sure if this is a result of that selection. However I cannot find that option anymore.
Any ideas? Do we have any option other than waiting for the 3rd party developers to retune the apps to the new screen size.

No sorry, What about using Zoom instead? Settings > General > Accessibility

11gr1 - Handling different screen resolutions for an enterprise app.

Hi,
We are developing an enterprise application that will be deployed at different clients with different hardware.
We are confused about how to handle different screen resolutions and wonder how others are handling this.
We have some fixed size areas in our screens and liquid areas for content that may expand. The problem is say that you have a table with 6 columns. This table will be rendered nicely at 1280X800 but not at 1650X1050 or 800X600.
At higher resolutions we will either end up having some blank space or expand one of the columns of the table , but can't expand every column proportionally and this will look ugly.
For lower resolutions same problem in a different way will come into picture, we will not able to resize the columns and end up with scroll bars etc ...
What is the best practice with handling different screen resolutions for components like table,panel splitter etc ?

I don't think that any better solution exists, you already use liquid layouts and define widths & heights with percentages etc. In my opinion using blank column at the end of table columns makes table's looking better. Additionally creating custom skin for table and defining column heights & widths with % or em may help you to stretch columns?

Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.

I've read that the Notes app with Mountain Lion will be available for OS X as well, and I was wondering if there will be any significant updates to the Notes app coming in iOS 6?
The Notes app in Mountain Lion supports, as far as I know, text formatting, images and attachments. The Notes app in iOS 5 does not have any of these features, yet still it is claimed that the OS X client will sync with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This means that there must be some rather significant updates coming for the Notes app in iOS 6 to match up with the features of its Mac counterpart. Still, no updates to the Notes app are listed in any of the iOS 6 feature lists I've seen so far.
I'm looking for a good note taking app for OS X and iOS. I don't like how Springpad works, neither did Evernote work out for me, it's just too complex - I like Simplenote a lot though, it's just that its approach is too radical in my opinion. I was thinking that the Mountain Lion Notes app might be a good alternative because it combines simplicity with rich text formatting and attachments. I kind of hate the skeuomorphic user interface though.

This isn't an issue. Notice the screen prior to the one that shows usage has an iCloud section and a Manage Storage button. For this button to activate ios needs to download a few kb from icloud. Switching back to this screen forces ios to download those few kb.

On iPhone 5c iOS 8.2, I go to settings, cellular, use cellular data for: Under "use cell data for are my apps but they are greyed out how can I ungrey them??

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, did you try to switch off Cellular Data, restart the phone and switch it back on again?

Is there a way to filter apps that are only available for your current version of ios

I have the first generation iphone. It still works pefectly and I would like to give it to my 1yo son, so that he can play around with it. It has latest supported ios 3.1.3. I went to the apple store to find some kid friendly apps for the device, only to find out that almost ever app requires a version of ios higher than 3.1.3. I understand that this is the limitation of old hardware. I just wish that there was a way for me to only see apps that would still work on my device. Currently, I have to click on the app, then start the download, only to get a message that says that I need ios > 3.1.3. I can also imagine that there are a lot of people out there who don't know the ios limits per device. Wouldn't it be better if the message read, "this app requires ios 4.3 which is supported on iphone 3 or higher" or even simpler "this app is not supported on your device. It is supported on iphone 3 or better". But the ios filter would go a really long way.

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Resizing Screen Resolution for Specific Apps?

Hello team,
Is it possible to resize screen resolution for specific applications? Most of my apps look fine at 1024x768, but there are a couple of older OS 9 apps that I need to run (talking school computers here) which are a bit on the small side when viewed at that resolution. Can I somehow set things so that when those applications are launched, the resolution changes to 800x600, and then reverts to 1024x768 when they're quit again? Any and all details about this will be most appreciated, and I thank you in advance for your help!

LCD panels must be used at their native resolution. Whatever it is for you monitor is what you must set it to.

How can I get apps for my ipod touch with ios 2.2?

I've been trying to search for games/apps for my iPod Touch but can't seem to find anything that doesn't required iOS 3.0 or greater.
Does anyone have any suggested apps/games for the older gen ipod touch? Is there a way to search the apps store for these older apps?

If I may ask, why do you not just upgrade your iPod's operating system? Even the first-generation iPod touch can run iOS 3, and the 2nd-generation iPod touch can run iOS 4, though not all features work. Then you would have a much broader range of apps available to you.

If you can you can choose the None option and only put the card info in when you want to buy something. It also makes your account less suceptable to hackers as there is nothing that they can use to buy anything.

The iPad 1 can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1. This is unlikely to change.
The apps you have will continue to work and there are still many apps which run on iOS 5 (or even earlier iOS levels).

Podcasts App in iOS not Downloading New Episodes for Some Podcasts

I am running version 2.2 (740) of the podcasts app in iOS 8.0.2
Some of my podcasts are no longer updating, while some continue to work normally.
If I navigate to My Podcasts > [Podcast Name] and then go into the feed tab, I cannot see any new episodes. However, If I unsubscribe and delete the podcast, then go search for it, I can see the new episodes. From here, I can even download individual episodes, but I cannot subscribe to the podcast. For some reason, the purple 'SUBSCRIBE' button does nothing when I tap it.
Is there a way to reset the Podcasts app? Do I need to hard reset the phone?

Since no help was coming from Apple, I decided to try uninstalling 11.1.0.126 and then re-install the newly released version of iTunes for Windows, 11.1.1.11.
The Refresh button now seems to work, and new podcast are being downloaded.

Can't check for new podcast episodes in iOS 5 Music app any more on iPad

Hi, in the old iPod app on the iPad, I could check for new episodes for podcasts and download them directly on the iPad. I haven't found this functionality in the new Music app. Is this gone? I liked it a lot when traveling with the iPad.
Or did I just miss on how to activate it?

I didn't know the iPhone still had it. But... the whole thing is a stupid joke anyway.
"Get More Eposides..." when viewing an individual epiosde is a petty excuse for a feature. What iOS really needs is an "Refresh" button just like iTunes, so I can update every podcast with one button and without leaving the Music app. Anything less is retar-ded.
5 iOS releases and I'm still waiting for this. And iOS 5 on iPad is even worse than the lame excuse for a feature we had before. The implementation of podcast subsrciptions on iOS feels like nothing more than an April Fools' joke.
I wouldn't mind but at this stage what we should really have is background download for podcasts on iOS ala Newsstand.
