Resolution is only 720 p

I just yesterday had FIOS installed.  I subscribe to Prime HD, but the resolution is only 720 p.  How do I get it to show the resolution of 1080i?  Do I have to get a technician to change it?  Please tell me how and who I should contact.

Some HD channels are only 720P and some are 1080.
Don't know your set but personally I recommend NATIVE resolustion for the channels.  However if you just want 1080i hit
 Menu/Settings/vidoeo settings/fideo format and select 1080i.

Need more information to help you, but I am providing some suggestions.  Sorry if you are past these type of basic things.  But didnt really have much to start with and understand your technical level to start with.
Have you got into Settings > Computers > Turned on Home Sharing (Note: You must use the some Apple ID used by the iTunes library on your MAC for them to see one another)
How is your MAC connected to the network vs the 720 ATV2?  Is one WiFi and the other Ethernet?  Have you tried switching the ATV2 to WiFi if Ethernet?
Has the MAC been restarted since this started happening?  Same with your Router and any other networking device being used?  Sometimes an IP conflict can arise in your networking and most consumer networking equipment does not know how to "self heal" without a reboot.
Make sure you have given those things a whirl and share back your results.  Any other information you can provide, such as how you connect to your network from each ATV and MAC.

  • Export resolution changes from 720 x 576 to 768 x576

I am using QuickTime Pro 7.6.8 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I just tried exporting a captured avi file which has an aspect ratio of 4:3. It is PAL file with a resolution of 720 x 576--this is confirmed in the file properties > details. However, when I export this file from QuickTime as a mov file the resolution changes to 768 x576. Even if I choose "PAL 720 x 576 4:3" in QT Options > Size > Dimensions, the summary in Movie Settings states that the dimensions are "768 x 576 (current)".
If I select preserve aspect ratio using letterbox the movie summary indicates that the dimensions are "720 x 576 (768 x 576)". I am puzzled.
The exported mov files does not look distorted when I play it in QT Player. But when I import the mov file into an NLE, it appears to be distorted (too wide). How can I keep the dimensions strictly at 720 x 576.
Second question: I want to preserve the same quality of the captured MiniDV AVI file in the exported mov file for use in an editor. Which settings would you recommend for this?
    Thanks.

720x576 is the correct size. The only size used by PAL digital video. The other number is used as a square pixel representation, but it's never used in video. If you can't set the correct pixel aspect ratio in your animation application then make it using square pixels 768x576. Take that into the QuickTime Pro player and export to the correct aspect for DV PAL to conform the pixel aspect ratio.

  • Screen resolution option only 800x600

I have a G5 Dual 2.3 and an Acer 1917A monitor. I used this monitor with no issue on a G4 Dual. Plugged it into the "new" G5 and the only screen resolution option I have is 800x600 (not high enough). I have not installed any software from acer (can't find it, and frankly don't know if I ever had any). Any ideas as to what I am missing?

    What's the native resolution, 1280x1024?
    (I can't find info on a 1917A)
    Try another user account.
If you need to, set up another user account with admin privledges.
    See if the problem persists.
if not, it is a software problem in your account.
Might also download the ATI Display Panel, and see if resolution adjustment can be made there:

  • Problem: Slow Intranet Sites/Internal DNS Resolution for only AD Users

    Hello,
We are experiencing a very odd problem.
Any and All Active Directory users are experiencing very slow intranet sites.
We are a school corporation, so this is affecting our Student Information System, as it is entirely web-based and locally hosted.
All of our Domain Controllers are Windows Server 2012 R2, with all the latest critical updates.
All client workstations are Windows 8.1 Professional.
The problem occurs with ALL web browsers (IE, Chrome, FF, etc)
All DNS queries respond in <1 ms (no matter whether we are logged in as AD User or local computer user).
If we login as local computer user, we have blazing fast intranet sites/DNS resolution.
If we login as AD user, everything crawls again... every click on the intranet site spins and says loading for up to 15 seconds.
If we add the the intranet site to the local computer HOST file, it is blazing fast, just as if we logged on as local computer user.
If we take it back out of the HOST file, it drags again.
    I am totally stumped!
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    How are DNS settings configured?
If there are any public DNS IP addresses in Preferred or Alternate field, please remove them, then input these DNS entries in the Advanced section. We should only configure Domain Controllers’ IP addresses on Preferred
and Alternate DNS server section for domain-joined machines.

  • Screen Resolution Problem (Max. Resolution of only 1024x768)

    Hello,
I just upgraded my T61 laptop from Windows XP to Windows 7, Everything was fine at first. But one day when I turned on my laptop, I found out that the screen resolution was wrong. It was only 1024x768 (not wide screen). As a result, the screen was on the left, leaving a thick black bar on the right. The given resolutions which I could choose are only 800x600 and 1024x768, no wide screen options. Tried nvidia control panel, it was still the same. Tried to connect to an external monitor (16:9 wide screen), the resolution was, however, perfect (fit the external monitor).
I already have the newest display driver (nvidia Quadro NVS 140m - downloaded from Lenovo). I even reinstalled the driver and installed the monitor driver provided by Lenovo, but the problem still exists.
By the way, after I encountered this problem, when I turn on the laptop, there is no more screen showing the ThinkVantage and the Intel logo. There is also no screen for "Starting Windows". It will straight away enter windows logon screen. It means, I have no way to enter BIOS or the recovery tools by pressing the ThinkVantage button at startup. (I cannot see anything!)
    Anyone can please help me?
    Thanks!

    ahboy0207, welcome to the forum,
you need to install the monitot inf file from here. Scroll down the page for installation instructions.
As you have installed another OS on your system you will have changed the Master Boot Record, (MBR), which contains the information allowing the ThinkVantage button to work at boot. If you left the recovery partition intact, i.e. didn't format it, it may be possible to repair the MBR in order that you can access it. However, the recovery partition will have the original XP image on it and not your W7.
You can enter BIOS by pressing F1 at boot.
    Hope this helps

my 1920x1080 original media now is only 720x576 in fcpx after i imported imovie evnts and project to final cut and i cant find a way to change this when i export it always export 720x576 with current but my current media is 1920x1080. reveal in finder and the media is full HD 1920. how can i let final cut pro x to see the media as it is...?
    Please help...Thanks a lot guys...

There are a number of things from Imovie that won't work properly when imported into FCPX.
There was one part of a video I needed as is so I exported from Imovie to Quicktime, then imported the clip into FCPX.
I called apple tech support, and they said yes, it is supposed to work, but doesn't.  Great.

  • Imac only has 2 resolutions

My wife's Mac changed resolutions - possibly as a result of running a full-screen game.   She says it has happened before.   I told her to reboot and let me know if that helped.
    It didn't, so I went to settings to change its resolution, seeing only 2 options, 1920 x 1200 or 960 x 600.
I told her tonight to turn her computer all the way off, meanwhile I would see what I could find out.
What should I look at to trace down her problem?

The genius did two things I should have thought about:
    1.   Boot to an external drive - this showed all of the expected resolutions, indicating a software, not hardware error.
    2.   Ran a permissions repair.
So after that did your system show the proper resolutions when you boot from it?  I ask because if it did it would be one of the few instances I've heard of where repair permissions actually fixed something!  Or...
While the permissions repair was being run, she checked databases and discovered that this problem gets fixed by reinstalling Lion.
...is this the "solution" the "genius" came up with because you still didn't get all the resolutions after the repair permissions?
So I went home and prepared to reinstall Lion.    In a couple of days her computer room will be painted and re-carpeted.   So I set it up in the basement, tested the access to the Internet, and rebooted with my OSX memory card pluged in (pressing option).    I started to run Recover, but my computer says it needs to be connected to the Internet.    I could not find anything to set up from this boot, so I will take the computer upstairs and plug the Ethernet cable in it and try again.
Meanwhile, how do I fix it so that next time I don't need the Ethernet cable?
Without an installer disk (or flash drive) I think you must have an internet connection to reinstall Lion.

  • Mac mini and Sony tv resolution issue

    Hello,
I have recently purchased a Mac mini for the purposes of hooking it up to my 51" Sony Wega HDTV. I took the mini out and connected the DVI adaptor that came in box and then hooked the mini to the tv via HDMI cable thinking this was the best possible connection for my mini. I have an issue where the screen is over flowing off the TV screen. I looked in system preference and have very limited resolution options but 1080i was selected and also over scan was checked. If I deselect overscan I get borders which I don't want. My tv doesn't have many options so how can I calibrate these two to work togethor?

I just discovered this is not a TV issue at all...
Uh, yes it is. Overscan is a condition unique to TVs. Computer monitors don't do it (overscan) hence there is normally no need for the kind of graphics card driver you are talking about, e.g. one that has precise control of video borders.
Many TVs on the market today have a method for defeating overscan, tucked away somewhere in their menu system, in order to allow the TV to be used just like a computer monitor. That is always the preferred solution when it is available because it will make the best possible image on the TV.
Your TV is a rear projection TV. Such TVs are not well suited for use as computer monitors because overscan is naturally baked into the optics architecture, meaning the manufacturer deliberately sets the mirror and lens system in such a way as to cause the native resolution (1280 x 720 in the case of your TV) to extend beyond the edges of the projection screen. Therefore it is impossible to get the native resolution of the projector's engine to display fully and perfectly on the screen. Only scaled or bordered version of it can ever be displayed. It's all fixed at the factory and there's no getting around the fact.
For the original G4 Mac mini that had ATI Graphics, there was a driver like the one you found for your father's Windows computer that allowed video borders to be set independent of resolution. But apart from that early effort on the part of ATI, I have not seen anything like that since for minis that have graphics based on Intel or nVidia hardware. I think you are going to be stuck with the dark video borders as a necessary limitation of the TV you own in the absence of any driver to counteract that limitation.
I believe the media center front end app called Plex has a facility for setting video borders, but I've never used it personally since I am able to turn overscan off on my TV. So I can't vouch for how well it works. And in any case, since it is bound to the app, it will only be active when Plex is running and not when, say for example, the Finder is in use, which is when you most need it.

  • Appletv 2.1 only displays 720p

hi. Can you please help I'm at my wits end
Ever since I updated to 2.1 my appletv will only ever display 720p. It won't even go lower! When you pick a resolution it goes to the screen to test whether your tv can display the resolution you chose, but you hear a double 'ping' as it flips screens and reverts to 720p. I have the appletv connected to my samsung 40" directly with HDMI. the appletv outputted 1080p before the update. I might add though that in order to apply the update I had to perform a factory reset

yes... you can choose to *up convert* from a max res of 720p to 1080p.. you cannot play a 1080p file on appleTV the max is resolution is 720p.. see the appleTV spec below.
    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs.html
    Video formats supported
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • Thousand and first question about resolution

From yesterday we are happy owners of Mac Mini. Beautiful, everything works and all that. Last task is to setup resolution for Panasonic 42" HDTV. Mini recognized it immediately as PANASONIC TV and suggested resolution 1280 x 720. Picture is there but not quite right.
Tried this suggested in one of the answers before:
How to Get 1080P, not 1080i, out of the Mac Mini. This is the tough one. When you go to the Displays control panel on the Mac Mini (Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5), you are given lots of video choices. However, the maximum resolution says 1920×1080 (interlaced) at 60Hz. What gives? I’m not sure, but it seems like a bug. The secret is to enable the checkbox that says “Show displays in menu bar”. If you do then, a displays icon appears in the menu bar. Click it to get a drop down menu of all display resolutions. Interestingly, there are now two 1920×1080 options, which are labeled identically. Choose the other one! You’ll now be driving full 1080P (confirmed by the Vizio).
For me second 1920x1080 res line never appears in drop down menu. Suggestions??
    Thank you,
    Zack

Typically computer output will look better with a progressive resolution. With interlaced resolutions, a picture element like a horizontal line that is only one pixel in width will get drawn to the screen only once every alternate frame. This will cause the line to flicker badly relative to the rest of the screen.
But if the intent is to just show movies or photos or content like that, and avoid text and other more typical computer applications, then 1080i can look good. It's really up to you to decide which works best for your application and the gear you own.
