Resolution issue on Panasonic Plasma HD 1080p with ATV

With my ATV2 set to Auto resolution or 720pHD, I lose picture on the left and right of my 58" Panasonic plasma HD 1080p TV.  If I reset the resolution to 640x480, I regain the full image, but of course at lower resolution.  Apple Genius was of no help on this issue.  ATV2 software is up to date.  HDMI connections are good.  Will appreciate any help.

I've solved this issue.  My Bose Lifestyle V30 Home Theater has no HDMI port for the 'AUX' input, which I had used with composite cables for my Apple TV1.  I tried using the DVD HDMI port with my Apple TV 2, and for whatever reason, the resolution at 720p stretched beyond the screen and lost content.  Now I've run the Apple TV2 HDMI directly to another HDMI port on the Panasonic TV and get full screen content at 720p (TV is set to 1080p). The Panasonic TV returns the Apple TV2 audio to the Bose.   Using the Apple TV2 now involves one additional step in selecting the HDMI port on the TV, (and then returning to the other HDMI port for Cable and DVD) but I once again I have HD video and excellent audio.  Such are the pains of mixing brands in a home theater.

  • TV does not display 1080p with ATV 3

Just bought the ATV3. I have a 32" Westunghouse that supports 1080p with a native resolution of 1920x1080. The specs are here: http://bit.ly/PBp9eo. The ATV only displays 720p. I have a dvd player connected to the same TV and it displays in 1080i. Can someone explain to me why I can't 1080i/p via the ATV3?
    Thanks

I figured it out. ThenTV has two HDMI ports, switching the ATV from HDMI-2 to HDMI-1 allows the ATV to display 1080p.

  • DIsplayport crushing blacks w/ panasonic plasma tv

I'm trying to properly calibrate a panasonic plasma for use with my mbp's displayport output. No matter how many times I run the apple calibration tool and turn up the brightness on the tv, the black levels are absolutely crushed (no detail in blacks).
If you are familiar with it, I am using the calibration disc made by the folks over at AVSForum, and am unable to get any of moving bars visible in the black level calibration screen.
Has anyone experienced this same issue and figured a way around it?

My main display is an HDTV. I set all my color settings on it, not the MBP.
If you're using a DVI > HDMI cable along with the DVI > MiniDisplay you should have no problems adjusting the colors on the TV itself.
My Sony XBR6 has different profiles for each input. My MBP and my 360 both require different settings. Yours should do the same.
I have had issues with newer nvidia cards (GTX295) and HDCP. They wold put out an HDCP compliant signal which would disallow me the ability to change any color/brightness settings on my TV. (Made my beyond furious)
I would suggest making sure that the color settings on the TV are actually being changed, and that something is actually happening as you move the slider or increase the numbers, however its set up. Play with the white/black levels as well. Try turning down the backlight...
Calibration discs can be very misleading. Your best bet is to put in a DVD and play a dark scene, adjust the brightness, then move to an outdoor scene. I still to this day need to fiddle with mine very occasionally.
One other thing to check is your TV's features. For example, mine has some stuff called "Gamma" and another called "Advanced CE" These solved my problem with contrast the second i enabled them.

Do you know if i can connect a mac mini
with a belkin "dvi to hdmi" cable
    to a panasonic plasma screen with a 1.920 x 1.080 resolution (screen 42 inches)?

    thanks.

Yes, specs-wise the TV is able to be driven by the Mac mini both via DVI and VGA.

  • Serious resolution issues with After Effects CC (2014) on Windows 8.1 Pro on Dell Precision M3800 laptop??

My new company installed Adobe Creative Cloud (There was some annoying Proxy issues at first, because of the seriously tight I.T policies) but we are having some serious resolution issues with After Effects CC 2014 (also have this resolution problem with Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Muse) on Windows 8.1 Pro on a Dell Precision M3800 laptop with icons and interface looking too small and hard to see, is there a fix, an update or a work around, can anyone help?
    Any help will be appreciated!
    k.regards
    Ramon

Hi Todd is there a time-frame for this fix, there is a lot of pressure on me, because I convinced my company to get the Creative Cloud and quite a lot of the CC software is not compatible with the latest Windows 8.1 OS.
Is there at least a work around, until this big fix comes along?

  • Cannot connect Mini PPC 1.42 GHz to Panasonic Plasma via DVI-to-HDMI-Cable.

Saw this question many times but never found a real Solution for that...
I'm trying to connect an old Mac Mini Power PC 1.42 to my Panasonic Plasma. Using the DVI out and an Adapter to HDMI.
In the Monitor-settings, I can see that the PPC found the TV. It is shown as "Panasonic TV" in the settings when I connect the cable. This, I can see while using Teamviever on my iPad, because the TV stays black. The TV does not seem to receive any signal actually.
Does anybody know what to do? I can't imagine there's no solution.
    Please help!!

Unbelievable but true! I've managed to solve the issue yesterday on my own.
For those who are interested and didn't find a forum that helped much, here is an easy manual:
Boot with normal Monitor using a normal DVI cable.
Start Teamviewer so you can follow the next steps on an iPad, iPhone etc.
    Unplug normal monitor.
Now use a DVI cable with HDMI at the other end.
Plug in Panasonic Plasma TV by using the above mentioned cable.
Now the plasma stays black, no signal arrives. Look at the iPad via Teamviewer and open monitor settings.
This should show that the Panasonic has now been found.
    Switch the resolution to 1280x720.
    Tataaaaa!
The Plasma TV now proudly shows the content of your Mac Mini PowerPC. Play with further settings in order to optimize the display width etc. Set the TV to 16x9 manually.
    Enjoy!

  • Help hooking up IMac Chrome 24" to Onkyo tx-606 to Panasonic Plasma

I have a 24" iMac Chrome, a Onkyo TX-606 A/V receiver and a 50" Panasonic Plasma TV (Can't recall the model, but it is a 720p plasma TV). I ordered the DVI to HDMI cable, from Apple, to hook all this up together. The TX-606 and Plasma work great together with a DVD player and DirectTV box as sources. When I hook up the iMac I get a blue screen on the TV.
I can get the iMac to detect the device. It shows a screen panel for TX-606 and defaults the resolution to 1280x720, which I understand is correct. However, I can't get the TV to display the image. I've cycled the iMac, the TX-606 and the TV to try to get these in synch.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I think it has to do with the TX-606 but, since other devices are working correctly with it I hesitate to blame it.
Where do I start to debug this issue?
    Shouldn't this "just work"?
    Jeaux

hey there Jeaux & welcome to Discussion!
1-is your iMac video & analog stereo connected directly to TV? if so, select the input on the TV to
the one that has the iMac input.
2- is your iMac audio & video connected to the AV receiver? if so, you may need to select the input
on the AVR & the TV. AVRs look for audio inside the HDMI connection like you'd get w/ a BD
player, not separately like you have w/ the iMac.
3-check out the AVS forum for some good info in their Mac HTPC chat. see this:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=115
my 17" CD iMac is DVI>HDMI to my 42" Sony @ 1920x1080i w/ a TOSlink optical to my Sony AVR, so i have a set-up like #1. but if you have a set-up like #2(had similar situation w/ using my HD cable box), i got no image if i didn't select the audio input on the AVR & the video input on the TV.
    good luck.

  • Hooking up MacBook to 50" Panasonic Plasma?

I am using the Apple mini-dvi to vga adapter along with a 6' vga cable to hook up my macbook to my 50" panasonic plasma (full specs: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Specifications-of-Panasonic-50-Plasma-HDTV-TH-50P Z700U/sem/rpsm/oid/175537/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)
My problem is that only half (maybe even less) of the listed resolutions for the external display (TV) seem to work. None of them take up the entire screen, and none of them look good. Image is shifted, fuzzy, cropped on top and bottom. OS X does not list 1920x1080 as a supported resolution for the TV.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me? I don't really know what i'm doing here!

    Hi Mike,
If I am not mistaken apple stated that macbook support up to 23" external lcd using 1440 x 900 resolution.
Some user managed to go over 23" and slightly higher resolution. But if the screen doesn't run on its native resolution it will become fuzzy as you described earlier.
Try mini dvi to dvi and get one of the dvi to hdmi adapter like this http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3570, and you might get some luck.
    Good Luck.
Do consult your panasonic or circuit city guy before you decided to give mini dvi to dvi with adapter a shot.

  • Panasonic Plasma TV repair - Geek Squad

    Hello community -
Two years ago I splurged, and purchased a beautiful 55" Panasonic plasma TV.  I am frugal, and do not do this often, so I also decided to protect it with a 4 year Black Tie Geek Squad warranty.
Been very pleased with it, up until 20 days ago.  When, it would no longer turn on.  7 blinking red lights, were the "code".  Simple internet search showed a specific faililng component.
I called Geek Squad, who was very helpful and pleasant.  And, arranged an appointment to have it replaced.  Well, now that appointment has been cancelled for the 3rd time due to a parts delay.  It is very obvious, that 1) This is a product defect, based on the # of issues people are having  2) This part will never arrive.
I just spoke with Geek Squad again, asking that they help me with a replacement.  They quoted a 30 day period, until after which they cannot consider it.  Only after 30 days will they "start" the process.
Question for the group ---- have you had this experience too?  Have you found a way to navigate these waters?  And, once I pass 30 days what sort of expectation should I have for actually getting a replacement?
I am normally very reasonable. However, my patience is wearing thin.  And, I am VERY RELUCTANT to ever purchase from Best Buy again.  They were my go-to brick & mortal and on-line store, but I've reconsidered that.
Thanks for your perspective.  If anything, it is healthy to vent.  Because I do not expect a good outcome.

    Hello sledwith,
Thank you for visiting the forum. I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles with your Panasonic TV. I enjoy very much watching TV on our 55" screen so I can certainly understand your frustration at having to wait possibly up to a month for it to be repaired.
Using the information you provided on the forum, I was able to view the service order, and I will be looking into this further to see if I can help. Once I have further details, I will be sending you a private message. To view your private messages, please make sure you are logged into the forum, and click on the envelope in the top right hand corner.
I look forward to continuing to work with you, and I will be in contact as soon as possible. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

  • Plasma TV 1080p as Monitor?

I am looking for a Plasma TV as a 2nd monitor for my Macbook Pro i7 16GB with Thunderbolt
I was looking for a monitor maybe an older ACD 30" but I know of someone who uses and recommends a Panasonic Plasma 1080i or 1080p (?) TV as a monitor?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I have the Thunderbolt to HDMI cable, so basically just asking on the quality of close up work on say a 42" or 50" PLASMA 1080 TV (been told Panasonic are good?)
    Thanks

Yes Panasonic plasma's are the best in the field... very soon it will be hard to purchase one since Panasonic released a statement that they will be dropping out of making plasma TV's.
In my opinion i think any TV will do the trick connected by HDMI or even Airplay using ATV.
The TV choice of either plasma, LCD, LED and so on really has to do with what room the TV will be in.

  • Panasonic Plasma TV does not recognize MBP

When I connect my MBP using HDMI to DVI to the TV, the MBP recognizes the Panasonic as an external display, but it seems the TV does not recognize the MBP. Same problem with PC connection as well. Can anyone help with other settings or is there a compatibility issue?
MBP works fine with LCD projectors.
    Thanks!

I've got a Panasonic Plasma and it behaves fine ...
In System Preferences/Displays/Panasonic TV click Options and make sure 'Overscan' is checked, then set the other Display options as shown below.
If this doesn't work I'd suspect there's something wrong with the TV itself

  • Panasonic Plasma TV - HDMI Audio Noise

    Hi Everyone,
I've just bought a iwire minidisplay port to HDMI cable (wonderful I got to say), but somthing strange happens when I connect my MBP13"MI2010 to the TV.
The TV is a Panasonic - TX-PF46G20S. When I'm browsing in finder for some seconds, a "gneeeeeeeeeeeee" sound come from the TV. If I manually switch off the Panasonic Screen (leaving Itunes woking behind so I can here the music from the TV) the gneeeee becomes swiched off.
if I'm watching a video file, no "gneeee" sound. I bet the issue is the still image of the mac desktop as the source of that noise, but it's not normal to me.
I want to undestand if the cause is the MBP or the panasonic. If it is the panasonic, I should activate the garantie.. if the MBP13", I don't know really what to do.
Waiting for better Video card driver ?
Some help and suggestion will be very appriciated :-)
    thanks

  • HT6114 Does the 10.9.2 update fix the issue on 2011 macs where projectors with HDMI are not recognized via thunderbolt adapter?

    Hi Mac,

So to be clear, this issue occurs on any input with the Denon Receiver.  Occurs from both HDMI out and MiniDisplay Port out.  Goes away when we reinstall the OS and update it to 10.9.2.  Comes back as soon as we update to 10.9.3.
    Cheers

Have you been able to use the Mac Mini directly attached to the plasma/LCD/projector with out going through the Denon AVR? Even with 10.9.3 installed?
I have a Pioneer AVR and I have the Mac attached via a HDMI to HDMI and all is working for me. Can your Denon do some upscaling? Some AVR, like my VSX-53 can change the scaling of the input video. Meaning if I still had my Apple TV 2 which outputs 720P only, can be upscaled in my AVR to 1080i or 1080P or even 24fps. Heck, I could even plug in an old style Red, White, Yellow cable and upscale it to 1080P and output it HDMI.
I am wondering if your Denon is able to do that and it might be set wrong. Check the owners manual for such settings. Even the plasma/LCD/project could be doing the upscaling too. So check that too.

  • Apple tv3 resolution issues

I've been having resolution issues with my apple tv3. I recently updated the software and now the quality is nowhere near what is was last week. Originally I thought it was just Netflix but after trying the other channels like Skynews and PBS I've dicovered that it's the AppleTv. I reset the resolution to 1080p under
settings. I'm finding that I when I start a video I get the hd for the first few seconds then the quality goes to crap.I checked my internet speed and clocked it at
    25 mbps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not ATV, the network connection.  Bandwidth download tests are not useful for this since it only tests for a brief time span, does not test the path from your ATV to the content provider.  It is also possible that your ISP is throttling streaming video or content from specific services.  I am guessing you are using WiFi?  I would try using a wired connection for a while as a test to see if that resolves it.  Streaming video rarely works well or reliably over WiFi.
