Resolution of a screen

Hi,
I am running Arch for about 1 year, doing upgrades from time to time. It is a graphical mode desktop. I have upgraded week or two ago.
Now each time I want to change the resolution of the screen, the screen goes blank with 'unsupported mode' message on it. The screen only works on maximum resolution detected  at boot time.
Video card: VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]
Driver: extra/xf86-video-ati 1:7.5.0-2
Connected to screen via Display Port.
Any known bug with it ?
Thanks,
  Dima.

    Hello Thomas,
Do you mean that the resolution in remote desktop is too high?
Please check your configuration as this article:

  • The problem that app icons have a low resolution in Launchpad Screen

    Here is a screenshot.
In Macbook pro with retina display, app icon often have a low resolution in Launchpad screen.
If the app install again after restarting the mac, the app icon in launchpad screen has normal resolution.
Do anyone know how to resove this problem?

Had this problem from time to time, at random, with Lion. After Mountain Lion it is a lot worse... many icons, non only personalized but also system icons, look blurry and pixelated...
I have done EVERYTHING I read on the many threads about this issue here at apple, as well as on other sites, but nothing helped... (removed thumbnails.data, delete caches, deleter .DS_store files, finder preferences, etc. etc. etc.).
This happens on both my macs, an iMac 2011 and a MacBookPro 2010...
How is it possible to have this BUG since the last 3 version of the OS, with Apple not solving the problem but rather getting worse?

I did. Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem. Do you have any more possible solutions?

  • How do i change the resolution of my screen shots that i captured from my desktop?

How do i change the resolution of my screen shots that i captured from my desktop?
    Thanks.

Do you mean you want it saved with the resolution set to something other than 72 dpi when the capture is made, or do you mean you want your capture saved at a higher resolution than the captured area?
    1) If the first, there are ways to change the default capture format .png to something else, such as .jpg, .tif and a few others, but as far as I know, the resolution will always be 72 dpi. You can use Preview to change the resolution of the captured image under Tools > Adjust Size. You will get this:
If your intention is to set the resolution for professional printing defaults, then change the resolution to 300. Turn off Resample image to prevent the image from actually having more pixels added. The resolution will simply be reset from 72 to 300 dpi without changing the actual number of pixels in the image. It will also print a lot smaller since the output device will now use 300 pixels per linear inch instead of 72.
Leave Resample image on if you need to maintain the dimensions. Be aware however that scaling the image (resampling) will add a lot more pixels to the image than are there to maintain size. Expect the image to get very soft and pixelated looking when adding 417% more data to the image than it currently has.
    2) If you mean you want the OS to actually save the captured area as a high resolution image at size, that can't happen. A capture is a 1:1 grab of the display buffer. It can only capture what's there. So if you capture a 700 pixel x 500 pixel area, that's all the bigger it can be without scaling it afterwards.

  • Enable High Resolution for Retina Screen

Version 11.0.0 downloaded from Creative Cloud on iMac 5K Retina screen (Yosemite). Acrobat Pro opens in Low Resolution - all text.images appears blurred/bitmapped/low resolution.
On looking at the applications info: 'Open in low resolution' is ticked and dimmed, so it can't be changed.
I've seen a couple of hacks to fix this, one of which states you should go into the Contents/info.plist and add <key>NSHighResolutionCapable</key>
    <string>True</string> just before </dict>
I'm not keen to do this, plus sounds like it will be glitchy.
Please would the next update allow high resolution for Retina screens. Thanks.

Big thanks Adobe, a day later, you release 11.0.09 which has fixed this issue.

  • Photoshop CC and Audition CC is not compatible with the high resolution and small screen that my computer have.

Hello everyone. Recently I bought the New Razer Blade (2014). It has a high resolution of 3200 x 1800 and a screen size of 14 inch. It is that I downloaded the Photoshop CC that I realize that the words are so small it is actually causing a problem for the users. I searched online for helps and learned that the only way to change this is to wait for the developers of the Photoshop CC to make and update to make it compatible. The source of this idea is from a guy have the same computer and the same problem. He updated his Lightroom and the interface ungraded into one that he can use with ease and he hopes that the Adobe company will update Photoshop CC also and fix the resolution problem too. I thought that after another update, Photoshop CC will have it visual update too. However, the last update from a few days ago didn't solve this problem. I wonder if The Adobe company knows about this problem and that's the main reason I'm starting a discussion on this topic. The same goes to the Audition CC and the Premiere Pro CC. These 3 are the most important tools for my and this computer is the only good one that I can have right now. I have tried lowering my resolution but everything else became difficult to use. If I'm using the Photoshop CC, I of course wouldn't want to use a resolution that is too low to edit my pictures.
This is my problem and I wish someone can do something about the visual updates of Photoshop, Audition, and Premiere Pro so that they are compatible with the New Razer Blade (2014) 14 inch screen. Just like Lightroom.

    Hi,
The video features for Windows 32 bit systems are no longer supported starting with Photoshop CC (14.0).
    Sorry,

  • Low resolution photos in screen saver

    Hi,
I have a question regarding the screen saver in system preferences. Whenever I select one of my iPhoto albums, or a picture folder, to be displayed as the screen saver, the displayed pictures look jaggy and low in resolution. I've checked/unchecked every option in the pref pane, but none of them seem to help. The preset screen savers, like forest and cosmos, look great though. My photos are all 5MP (2592x1944pixels), so I can't imagine that their resolution is what is causing the problem.
    Cheers,
    Shinbone

Hi, Shinbone. Welcome to the Discussions.
As a guess, it may be from the need to scale down the images to fit your screen resolution, which I suspect is less than 2592x1944.
The images in Cosmos, for example, are 1024x768 pixels.
    Good luck!

  • Low resolution on booting screen

    Hello guys,
I need some assistance here, please. Since yesterday the booting screen (the gray one with the apple logo) is on 640x480 resolution. When the computer boots to the login screen the resolution is back to the native - 1440x900. I need assistance on how to make the booting screen back to native resolution as it was before. Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    PsychoMet

Just had the same thing happen to me. I was browsing in Safari and clicked on the "Top Sites" icon. I saw a quick flash and since then I could only move my mouse; nothing was clickable.
After a minute still nothing had changed and I did a hard reboot. Then I saw the same low-res Apple logo. When it got to OS X itself the resolution changed back to normal.
I will now do a reboot to see if it's still there.

  • Can't optimize resolution for external screen

    Hi,
I'm having a very frustrating issue with my Macbook Air running Yosemite. I want to use my 1080p external screen as the main one, but no matter what I try, my my mac optimizes for the built-in display resolution, not for the external one (which is therefore blurry). The weird thing is that when I close the macbook lid, the resolution is fixed. However I need to be able to use the built-in keyboard and touchpad, so need to keep it open.
Any ideas how to fix this?
My settings screenshot attached - with this I am not getting 1080p on my external display, but something blurry and scaled..
    Thanks

    Hello michalfromvimperk,
You may need to verify that your display arrangement is set for Extended Desktop rather than Mirroring.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Arrangement.
Open the Arrangement pane for me
    Follow the onscreen instructions.

  • Different image resolution on computer screen and on phone (saturation)

I am using Photoshop on Windows 8. Whenever I transfer an edited image to my phone, the resolution is different i.e. the colours appear more saturated on my phone than on my computer screen (much more than intended).
May I know how to solve this problem?

Using save for web will convert the profile to srgb for you. I believe there is an option in the save for web diaog box that needs to be enabled for that conversion to take place.
Not all devices or programs honor the color profile or read the profile. It would be those devices and programs that can be different in color shift. In those cases, there is very little you can do.
Most programs that don't read  the profile assume srgb, but there is no guarantee.
As for resolution, each device is its own. You can find the specs for most devices on Wikipedia. When designing you are better off working with the highest resolution then using save for web or the new asset generator save out lower resolutions for each device you want to aim for.
If you have Illustrator or flash you could export out an svg file of the vector data created in those programs which are scalable and are becoming a standard at least for web browsers, but I am seeing Microsoft and Apple promoting scalable user interfaces for coding. Which leads me to believe that phone and tablet UI's will be seeing this soon as well if they aren't already.

  • How to change the Grid ALV output resolution according to screen

    Hi All,
I have a requirement in which I have to adjust the Grid ALV Output Screen resolution according to user screen. I mean if the user has any type of  screen (17'' , 15'', 12.1'' ),  the output should be completely fit to his screen.
Helpful solution will definitely be rewared.

    Hi!
I doesn't depends on the screen size only the desktop resolution.
If the desktop resolution is set to 1024*768 on every computer, then it will be the same all the time.
You can set the desktop resolution in your windows (right click on desktop - properties - settings).

  • Why does PE11 have poor resolution on Retina screens?

On my Macbook Pro Retina photographs that look stunning viewed in Preview, PhotoMechanic or iPhoto are all pixellated and blurred when viewed in Photoshop Elements 11. Anyone know of an answer to this?

That's actually not quite the reason. 1024 x 768 is the minimum resolution for all the features to fit on your screen. You can run PSE at a much higher resolution (my monitor is 1920 x 1200 for example, and PSE looks fine). However, the retina display packs in a lot more pixels than that and programs must get new graphics to look optimized on those screens. Even photoshop didn't till fairly recently.
You can try viewing photos at 50 or 100% for best results, but any current version of PSE, like many other programs, is going to be like watching standard def TV on an HDTV. Since PS CS6 was the first version of PS to have an update that optimized it for retina displays, I would not expect PSE to be until there is a version of PSE based on CS6 or higher. PSE 11 is based on CS5.
