Resolution of facetime

Hi guys, does someone know the resolution of a facetime call?

Click this link to see the resolution of the camera for the device you own.  The cameras are not high pixel count and in low light the picture quality can be pretty grainy.

  • IPad 1 or 2?

I just found out that im getting the iPad for Christmas...should i keep it or return it and wait for iPad 2?

If Apple follows the way they have rolled out new iPhone versions, they will probably announce the iPad II in a few weeks. They announced the original iPad in late January this year. It wasn't released to stores until a few months later. If you wait for an official announcement, and you decide that the better screen resolution, cameras, facetime, and whatever else ends up being in the new version are important to you -- you will have missed your window of opportunity for an in-store return and trade-up.
As mentioned already, by the folks above... a bird in the hand... You can enjoy your gift for a few months and if you feel compelled -- sell it and trade-up. You will lose money on the sell, trade-up - as you will be competing with everyone else who wants the new shiny version (and is stuck with the original), as well as Apple (who - will likely drop the price of the current iPad significantly). OTOH - you will have gotten to know how to use your iPad, and enjoyed it for a few months. Think of it (if this happens) as a rental. If it's worth it to you -- go for it.

I'm using an iMac with Firefox as my browser. On the top right beside the URL box I have my google search engine (I can also use the drop down to search with Yahoo, Amazon, Answers.com etc.... When I search for something I get results but for some reason now I get Islamic text in my results. For instance if I search iphone here's what I get as my first result:
iPhone 4 is a GSM cell phone with a high-resolution display, FaceTime video calling, HD video recording, a 5-megapixel camera, and more.

Does anybody know why this is? I have done nothing to change Firefox, it just started happening.

Hi, i had the same problem, and I also use Bullguard, I contacted them, just received answer, (in about 20 min). It is incompatibility of FF4 and bullguard (they know about it, and fix will be released soon), and probably most of the other antiviruses, as I see this is very popular problem. The solution though is very simple : in firefox disable addon "Bullguard Safe Browsing". It works. Or alternatively open bullguard go : antivirus - settings - safe browsing (unchek that). For those not using bullguard i would recommend to check their addons in FF and if there is any from your antivirus try to disable it for now.

  • HT204408 Why is FaceTime telling me there is "an error processing registration" when the troubleshoot resolutions are irrelevant?

I am trying to use FaceTime on my MacBook with Lion and it lets me sign in, asks me to verify my email, and then bounces back, saying "there was an error processing registration. Try again later." I have even tried with a different AppleID and new email to have verified, still the same result.

If third-party firewall software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections from apple.com and verisign.com.
If you have edited your /private/etc/hosts file, you will need to remove or comment out any entries containing apple.com or verisign.com. To comment them out, put a "#" character (without quotes) and a space at the start of any line containing apple.com or verisign.com. Note: Some third-party software installers may modify the hosts file without alerting you.
Make sure the date and time are set correctly on your computer. You can enable  "Set date and time automatically" in the Date and Time preference pane to automatically keep this information accurate. FaceTime uses SSL connections in order to register, and SSL requires an accurate date and time for securely communicating with the registration server.
None of this is relevant because I have altered none of this, atleast not intentionally. Any suggestions?
FaceTime was working just fine on my Mac a few months ago, now it is only working on my iPhone.
link to apple troubleshoot for issue

While this may be a work around for you, it is most certainly NOT the case that you need a seperate, unique Apple ID for every Apple device you own. There is clearly a bug in FaceTime that is causing problems for users, but creating multiple Apple accounts will only lead to complications later — especially if you use different accounts to purchase apps or other content from iTunes.
I suggest you take the offending device(s) to your AppleStore and get someone to help you out. This is (usually) a free service offered by Apple.
Meanwhile, Apple might lend a hand by focusing on ironing out the bugs from their network services. Network / web services have always been an Achillies heel for Apple, which has consistently had problems with its web / cloud-based services. At hardware solutions Apple is pure genius, but at web and cloud services it truly *****! Lets hope they eventually wake up to the fact that this is detrimental to users' experience of their lovely hardware.

  • FaceTime resolution

After upgrade to Lion OS, the FaseTime app opens in a very low resolution and out of focus.  However this issue gets resolved only when iChat is opened and the switched to preferences for video, the resolution and auto focus gets corrected in FaceTime. I would like to find out if there is a way to have FaceTme work correctly without this trick with iChat.

  • FaceTime freezes when same room has no problems. The picture is high resolution. There are no freezes when calling my daughter's iPad but the picture is lower resolution. Can I troubleshoot this?

FaceTime freezes when I call my son's iPad. Calling his iPhone in the same room has no problems. The picture is high resolution. There are no freezes when calling my daughter's iPad but the picture is lower resolution. Can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks Mario, but I tried everything there before posting my question. I may not have been clear in my question since I accidently recorded the whole question as the title and tried to edit. In brief: I have no trouble connecting with my daughter's iPad or my son's iPhone. However, his iPad is sending much higher resolution pictures and we disconnect after about a minute.  Oddly, he can hear and see me while my screen first freezes, then goes black and gives me a message of "reconnecting" until it quits trying and shows the buttons to end or redial. The picture quality difference is what is leading me to believe it is bandwidth related. However, I get anywhere from 5 to 10 MB download speeds; usually closer to 10. Last summer, I had 4 granddaughters on their iPads, a grandson on his gaming device and me on cell phone or pc, all using the bandwidth at once with no complaints. If there is a way to lower his outgoing resolution, I think that would help.

  • ISight and FaceTime camera resolutions

I have a black MacBook and I use the built in iSight camera (because I can not get the PartyBoothApp.com software to recognize any other webcam) and I have gotten fairly low quality photos. Is the FaceTime camera on the new Air any higher resolution?

    Hi,

    Unfortunately, it's still 0.3 megapixel.
    Cheers.

Can you tell me why you don't think its a good buy? Someone bought it that must have thought it was a good buy? You?!!!
I had a macbook pro, spilled an entire latte on it. Cannot afford to drop another 1500 on a new one. I understand the air is a great machine. And for someone that is hard on equipment (aside from liquid!) with no moving parts its a better option. This one is priced at $929 - good?

  • My camera shutter is frozen on my 4S and i use camera apps to take regular pictures. Is there a facetime app that will force these cameras to work? or is there a resolution to my camera issue?

My camera shutter is frozen on my 4S. Some camera apps work, but is there a solution to this? I hate not having FaceTime.

Basics frrom the manual are restart, reset, restore.
Have you tired each of these?

  • Reducing Facetime camera resolution

Now why would anyone want to do this? Don't we all want brillilant, sparkling, hi-res video?  Usually, yes. However, when connected to a public network, for instance in a coffee shop, the wi-fi connection can be less than excellent, and being able to reduce the bandwidth required would be handy. If you're on an  iPhone (or in my case iPod Touch), you only have a small display anyway and you really don't need 720p in such cases.  This would be a useful feature on OSX as well, to reduce the outgoing bandwith from an otherwise HD video camera when connecting to someone in a location with a poor wifi signal.

  • My FaceTime was working perfectly fine till a week back but now the calls don't connect on my macbook. how can i fix this

how can i get my facetime to start working again

Some of the Apple servers used for FaceTime are having issues...connections are inconsistent.  For me, they have worked ok for connections to New York, but not to Dallas, unless I initiate the connection.  Then all works fine.
Other users have had a lot of issues connecting...answer seems to be along the lines of try from each end to see if one works and not the other, or wait...Apple is saying a week or so for full resolution.

  • IOS 7 problems with FaceTime and messages apps.

Need resolution on why FaceTime and message apps are not accepting my password after loading ios 7.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Also try this - Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • FaceTime camera low quality, not recognising screen flash.

Sorry if this has been mentioned previously in another thread. But is anyone else experiencing this from their MacBook Pro? I have an early 2013, Retina MacBook Pro that I purchased at MacMall in March. Since I purchased the laptop, I have noticed that the picture quality is really bad and that the Photo Booth screen flash no longer is picked up by the FaceTime camera like it was on my previous unibody MacBook Pro from late 2008. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I have gone to the Apple Store to get it repaired, the Genius recognised the problem and submitted the laptop to have the screen repaired and the clamshell replaced. Once I got the computer back however, the problem was still not resolved. I took it in once more to the Apple Store, this time I was helped out by two other Genius members, but they told me they could see no discernible difference with the picture quality compared to the other MacBooks in the store. They also said that the flash was working even though it clearly is not.
I called Apple again after I left the Apple Store with no resolution and spoke to a Customer Sevice Specialist who thought the problem was uncommon and she had me download the Capture Data program to send to the engineers. She also had me do a clean instal and she requsted that we would do a partition and try the camera again. I did the clean instal, which took an hour or two of my time. She did not get back to me after about a week or two, so I contacted Apple again and was assigned to yet another Specialist. This time he made me do everything over again. I did the clean instal. I did the partition. I sent Apple the Capture Data several times. He promised me he would get to the bottom of this and find solution. The engineer determined that I needed to uninstal CleanMyMac2 and MacKeeper from my computer because the programs might have been deleting essential data require for the camera to operate properly.
However after deleting the two programs from my MacBook and following the Specialist's instructions, the photos on my FaceTime camera still came out dark, the camera still did not pick up the built in screen flash.
My photos look like the ones below regardless of whether the flash is turned off or on.
After a day or two, the second Specialist called me back and told me that the engineer he was working with determined that the screen flash feature built into Photo Booth is a novelty feature. That is, a feature designed by Apple not to work properly. Has anyone else gotten a resolution from Apple on this? I just want my FaceTime camera to work properly on my premium Apple product. I mean, I did spend a lot of money on this and I want it to work as advertised. Any advice or suggestions on this would be helpful.
All the creepy photos below were taken on my MacBook Pro Retina with screen flash enabled and disabled via the PhotoBooth application:

Here is an image taken on my 15" MacBook Pro Retina. Notice the blurry quality of the photo. The colours are dull.
Here are an image take from the 13" MacBook Pro Retina I bought as a gift. Notice the photo is crisper and the colours are more vibrant.

  • Display optimization for macbook pro and facetime

Is there an optimal display setting when using FaceTime 2.0 on my MacBook Pro purchased in 2009. I currently am set to 1920 X 1200.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can use FaceTime with the resolution you want. Also, the resolution doesn't mind, because the camera resolution will be the same, so it's better to not modify anything and leave it as it is
